I spotted the signal but I just cant seem to stomach the risk of margin.

Newcastle still not getting new owners from Saudi Arabia but they are already seriously preparing for the new season.
They have in mind to bring in a dozen new players and create a mega-team that will attack the top of the league.
They seem to be very close to bringing in a Benfica goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.
It is a very good goalkeeper who has conceded only 14 goals in the Championship.
Newcastle are likely to pay him £60m.

Where are they gonna get the money from for that? all the clubs are going broke. I expect the transfer market to be a mess when it gets back going, unless its all just on paper dollars.

On a boat like that the journey could be the quarantine time

Btw there are nations who managed corona extremely well, without months of total lockdown:

https://www.vox.com/2020/5/5/21247837/coronavirus-vietnam-slovenia-jordan-iceland-greece

and there are some very poor countries that could be a tinder box if they had a single case.

Surrender to the virus and you also surrender your economy.

OTOH, surrender your liberties and you also surrender to tyranny.

Incidentally, I don't doubt your rather rational conclusions about the effect of what you term 'opening early', as far as epidemiology goes. I just don't agree that the government of a free society has a legitimate authority to order the populace to stay in their cages.

As far as the effect upon Bitcoin, I'm not seeing such a causative factor.

At the risk of hubris, Australia is on the edge of eliminating the virus.  We have 10% of the population of the USA and 97 deaths total.  Our death rate is roughly one-thousandth yours.

The only difference is that our leaders (despite their other faults) listened to the medical advice.  Within 2 months we should, fingers crossed, have a completely open and fully functional economy with no virus behind our sealed borders.  Many other European countries will also be in the same position.

Meanwhile the US will lurch from crisis to crisis over the next six months, with hundreds of thousands and possibly millions dead.   You can keep your liberties.

On Bitcoin, I suggest it is only a 50% chance that it will trigger another significant crash.  It is really hard to tie the real economy to Bitcoin, and question the extent we should try

I wish your country well, but I don't believe in miracles. All what you did is to postpone, UNLESS there is a functional vaccine soon.
There are lots of theoretical studies about this postponement phenomenon.
Then, maybe, you will get lucky with an early vaccine.
It is otherwise not possible to keep below 7k infections in a 30 mil population size country.
It opens up, infections would go up.
I understand the partial way-stay open when you can, close when you can't.
It is messy, but around here people already started to ignore orders.
Mask coverage dipped lately to 20% from 60% on the residential street, although we are still under "orders" to keep them on when outside.

Excluding New South Wales and Victoria, both of which have an active cluster,  not one Australian state recorded a new case yesterday despite very high rates of testing.  State borders are closed.

Elimination behind sealed borders is a real possibility.  *If* that is achieved, then many would be happy to wait out the pandemic behind sealed borders.  You can postpone it forever if you don’t let it in.  The virus can only come in, if you let it in.

We do have a problem with NSW lifting its restrictions too early but other States will keep their borders sealed against NSW while they sort themselves out.

I say this with caution because we could easily screw this up yet.

Something or someone has to come and go to keep you supplied with food and other stuff. Unless you are lucky enough to be a self sustaining county. Lots of countries have given up that feature in favour of cheap foreign X or Y
1346  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 10, 2020, 08:26:16 AM
I (if I controlled the government) would have done the same thing the government does during a bad flu season.

If I also controlled the government I would likely use the crisis as an opportunity to turn the health care system into a completely decentralized blockchain aided free market system.

If it was truly a bad pandemic people would be able to buy respirators (or 3D print their own), have a negative pressure room in their home/garage/basement, and AirBnB the hospital space. Uber Doctors and Nurses that come and check on patients and give monitoring advice to AirBnBs.

Elwar, if you were in control with the government this would never have been an issue. Heck if a fucking chicken had been in control this would probably have been a minor issue. The thing that really ticks me off is that this happened THREE times in the past.

  • In 2002 we had the SARs epidemic. World governments worked together to contain and mitigate it, and the result was a minor issue with no recurrence.
  • In 2011 we had the H5N1 nightmare. World governments tried to suppress, then because of me they worked together to identify and create vaccines for it. No problem.
  • In 2012 we had the MERS epidemic. World governments worked together to contain and mitigate it, and the result was a minor issue with no recurrence.

Now in 2020 we have COVID/SARS. Same thing but this time world governments are all fighting with each other over pointless shit, did not work together, and the US government in particular not only did nothing but instead spread lies that allowed it to not be contained, to arrive on cruise ships released by fucking political pull, and spread like wildfire in the country.

As icing on the cake this moron leader disbanded the teams who knew how to work on this in 2018, ignored the runbooks, and put the president's moron son in charge of responses that were not only laughable but totally counterproductive.

Sorry. Those trillions of dollars down the drain is the complete and final responsibility of one Donald Trump and his less than worthless Rethuglican cronies. Their lies, inaction, and malicious response has directly cost this country trillions of dollars and as of this afternoon 78,397 dead people.

Yes, I do believe Elwar that you would have done a great job. Really, I do. But this is what the people of the US wanted, and this is what they get. They can deal with it.

Sorry to disappoint you but he DGAF about anyone else. He would just go off and live in the sea

Many ups and downs for me, I had problems with ScW app, I had to restart computer several times. I had minor problems with connection, but this time it was madness, every time I had to restart computer and get in again! Smiley
See you tomorrow! Smiley I hope there will be more people than today! Smiley

That's frustrating when it times out and you have a great hand.

It takes a bit of time to realise you are out. That person uses up their time then its like, hold on a minute its me whos gone out.

Great guys and good luck.

I have decided to drop out, I was only cannon fodder anyway for the pros and my recent suggestions don't seem to have gained me any friends.

At a personal low at the moment so maybe some time one day.

Pleas remove me from any spreadsheets.

No animosity here. Good luck to all you guys in tournament 2.

By the way, this week's green candle has not closed, yet, and this week's would be the 8th one....

After everything else. This!

Girlfriend says I was Tolkien in my sleep.

I want to be ready for a shakeout like June 2016, July 2017, September 2017, May 2019, etc. especially after 8 green weekly candles.

What does being ready mean in this context? short the falling price? or wait the dip to long it?
1355  Economy / Speculation / Re: Globb0 BTC charts on: May 09, 2020, 09:23:54 AM

I am more inclined to assert that you should actually play around with actual money..

I slept on it, I think its not even good enough to just have the correct stops (though they are important)

I think to maximise things you need to be sat in front of it, reacting and adjusting. That feels far more like gambling, shall I cash out or wait on a bet type thing. Similar, maybe indicating this is just betting of a sort.

This high maintenance approach seems in direct contrast to your more passive set it and forget it approach with ladders.  Its all interesting to me.

I also got a few more free courses on udemy. So I will find some time to continue the learning.

Meanwhile in Bitcoinlandia  (like it Jay?  Smiley )

Something of a reversal indicator (not always if *retests then up)

Most interesting was the sudden turn in the moving trend line. See it suddeny switched to the bottom of my channel and now is hugging that line. Weird coincidence? or does it mean something? Im not sure.

RSI is still in its peaky area.

Hourly is there a hint of the *retest here, early to say yet on the daily

So you would just have to be watching for these signals all the time

Post this 2020 halvening miners will cease to be the biggest sellers of Bitcoin. It'll be the dawn of the crypto exchange as the leading seller.

The biggest sell pressure on Bitcoin will soon be from exchanges selling their BTC fees collected into fiat.

https://twitter.com/woonomic/status/1258966521071599616?s=21

BUT: When the bitcoin price doubles, and trading volume stays the same, the exchange trading fees selling pressure in bitcoin halves.

Second I think over time there will be pressure on trading fees collected by the exchanges, as mentioned in one of my previous posts. 0.5% and higher is insane and not sustainable in a competitive free market environment.

Use maker taker

If you are not the maker, you are doing it wrong

Does it just mean placing your sell above the price? or something more elaborate?

Thanks

1359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESPORTS - predictions and tips (Dota 2, CS:GO, LoL) on: May 09, 2020, 08:03:13 AM
It's really difficult to predict esport games. The inconsistency is very high.
You said it so.

And there's also joy if you are the type of bettor who likes against the odds matches.

This is what I have been doing, but only 1 underdog say a pretty even match so its 50 50, that may have odds of 5/6 then I add a few should win teams and get about 4.65 which is nice odds if the first riskier one comes in. But when a few teams lose it takes out all my bets.
