... inputs.io takes you to the Electronic Frontier Foundation (a worthy group, but I found NO mixing service there). EDIT: And I just read a good part of the bitcoinfog.com thread, that gave me no confidence in them either. *** I am interested in both worthwhile BTC companies as a small investment as well as good mixing services ( sharedcoin.com and bitmixer.io have both worked OK for me, although I did read that sharedcoin may have security leaks...). A really solid (professional and honest) mixing service might make a lot of money, hey, just sayin´......

It looks like I may not understand mining pools, but if:
-- Discus Fish -- BTC Guild -- Eligius -- Slush
In all or in part made it easy and somewhat profitable for us prospective cloudminers, they would get LOTS of BTC joining in... GHash.IO problem solved!
What about it, guys? Give us a welcome, and BTC capital would pour in!
Capital goes where it is welcomed!

While not banned here in Peru (on a visit), NO ONE (ex. one guy I met) has heard of them nor uses them.
Pity that. Buy BTC in USA, use BTC for gold in Peru, smile,,,
EDIT: I do know a guy in the USA who tells me that BTC is getting very popular in Argentina due to their .gov incompetence and interference.

... zahra (in Peru now, foreign keyboard does not let me use the "at") bitmixer.io seems to work OK for me. Both took about the same amount of time on the average, call it one hour for everything including confirmations of transactions. Using BOTH services (in a row) seems to cover up the trail pretty well (intermediary wallets each and pretty little taint using BOTH). YMMV! I am NOT an expert but AM very interested in this subject.

My first guess is that there are NO big and easy-to-mine gold mines to be found.
Second, most gold miners are losing money right now...
Third, there is HUGE RESISTANCE among locals re new & big Au mines (ref: Conga in Peru and Pebble in Alaska).

Buy and hold physical gold in your own possession without worries. Um, like BTC!
The race is on! Which gets to $55,000 first (Au (via FOFOA), or BTC from its fans)?

With so many here who know more than I do,,, I hesitate to comment, but I think "DeathAndTaxes" has it right:
Probability!
Sometimes the unusual happens.
I once saw a time difference of 75 some minutes between blocks not too long ago.

When I get back I will have to consult my probability text on "Poisson Distribution".

... Now if we could just get Peru to do the same! Really, I could buy BTC in the USA and gold in Peru. Or even Korean bearings...

Hey, Discus Fish, BTC Guild, Eligius, Slush!
Then make it attractive (easy and somewhat profitable) to let us prospective cloudminers in! Many, many BTC await you...
Easy-Peasy! MOAR BTC, less GHash.IO, is that not what we all want?
Now get cracking!
***
And while you are at it, offer a good mixing service too!

Non-expert OROBTC would like to see a Discus Fish, a Slush, a BTC Guild, an Eligius, or others make it easy and profitable to cloudmine for those of us not ready for primetime, but who want in.
Then droves of people like me would sign up!
"AMF" to GHash.IO worries!
What´s say other mining pools?
Make it worth our while, maybe you will get rich(er?)!!!

Has iApple seen the light yet? Last I heard, Apple was making it difficult to use BTC on their iPhones...
I may have to switch to an Android if Apple keeps this up...

... zahra, that is why I now use BOTH sharedcoin.com and bitmixer.io on each of my latest transactions (switching among my different wallets) to "hide the trail" a little better. It´s a hassle, but should resist easy attacks. I am still interested to hear about other mixing services and all of your opinions on them.

I am down here in Peru on a visit (and a little business) and hardly anyone has heard of Bitcoin. Just one guy, who runs a money-changing store (dollars or euros to Peruvian Soles and back). He was not the least bit interested in the whole BTC idea.
Not even a MoneyGram guy at a fancy mall here in Lima had heard of it.
It will take a while here in Peru.

I have heard from two people that BTC IS taking off in Argentina (because of gross financial mismanagement by their .gov). So, maybe it will happen faster than I think now.

... My experiences only (none FREE, but at low cost): 1) I sent BTC from my blockchain.info wallet via sharedcoin.com to my Multibit wallet 2) Then sent about as much back to my first account via bitmixer.io. Both seemed to work fine for me, transactions all done (inc. a confirmation or two) in about an hour, per transaction. So it does take some time to use two services in a row, and there are some (low) costs, but in combination they seem to work well. *** I also did the reverse starting from Multibit wallets to blockchain.info (via bitmixer.io) and then back to Multibit via sharedcoin.com. I did all of this about eight times, and now have my BTC in four wallets (one on blockchain.info and one each of my three computers). It *seems* to cover the trail pretty well, especially in that it looks like each service uses an intermediary wallet. But, I am not an expert and would like to learn more! Especially about other well-regarded mixing services AND any other easy techniques that help cover the trail of little fishez like us seeking financial privacy.
|
|
|
... I am a relatively new BTC guy interested in the mixing services as well. I have used both bitmixer.io and sharedcoin.com both about eight times each. In most cases, I ran some BTC through BOTH services to help better erase taint. I believe (but not being an expert, do not KNOW) that using BOTH services did indeed cover up the trail "good enough" for at least casual trackers (both used an intermediary wallet, so the Blockchain did NOT ID either the sending nor receiving wallet best I could tell). I too would be interested in learning more about either bitmixer and/or sharedcoin. Also, a few days ago, someone new here noted their new service: bitimix.com. Any comments on them (or any other respected mixing service) would be much appreciated too!

... Beginner here, Beliathon. Peace. This just happened to be the biggest number I have seen cross the blockchain.info wire, and I thought it might be of interest. I too saw the large transaction within, and of course would be curious about that as well. BIG transactions like that would hint (well to me) that there is ever building confidence in Bitcoin.

... Block 304517 (won by BTC Guild) came in at a (gross) amount of $126,442,364.66 !!I have not seen one that big before. I do know that BTC Guild itself saw nowhere near that amount, but someone made/transferred a lot of money today. I hope they don´t spend it all in one place.
