Not 100 percent on this but windows may not be able to see all 8 gpus. i think that was fixed with 11.7 but its worth a search. Windows does not like more than 6ish gpus in general. I have had issues with win7 and 8 gpus and switched to 4 to be more stable. just a thought.
523  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Will you mine at a loss? on: August 10, 2011, 02:25:00 PM
and even if you had solar panels, you had to pay for them, too, and won't recover the cost to "free" for a few years....

That said, I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me get like 3 MW worth of solar panels Smiley

Good luck. i am still trying to talk my wife in to letting me use one room for mining.

CAUTION!!

I would strongly encourage potential traders to do some digging into .ME and JoeyMarty before deciding to do a trade with either. My analysis convinces me not to do business with either .ME or JoeyMarty.

Do your own research and if still convinced it would be a safe trade, commence.

That account is very new with a lot of posts so far. I don't see .ME on the honest traders which is a big plus in my book
525  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How To Configure The Miner? on: August 09, 2011, 10:42:40 PM
mining.bitcoin.cz is slush's pool so you need to create a worker. during creating a worker process it will require a password. the worker name and password that you assigned is what you enter into guiminer. for example

username.workername and then your password.

527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Certain Bitcoins worth more than others? on: August 09, 2011, 08:33:58 PM
I recall reading about 3 months ago about someone looking to pay 1.5 btc for 1 btc that was offered in the original transaction about the pizza sold for 10000 bitcoins. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137.0
Which is kinda interesting. Can certain bitcoins be worth more based on the transaction used? For example the first bitcoin ever mined being worth more than current btcs Just thought it would be interesting to hear what people have to say.

Also interested in the ps3 but addtional specs are needed before offering.
529  Economy / Goods / Re: (x3) Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 XTREME 1GB Graphics Card on: August 09, 2011, 04:29:46 PM
Once again, these cards are only two weeks old and have been mining for less than a week so they are practically new.
Used is used doesn't matter if you opened it but never used it or if its been running for 2 months. Any item you purchase will always lose value the moment it is used. Plus buying through a company will allow you to return if something is wrong. If you buy on here sales are final. I believe 185 is an acceptable but not optimal price for new. If you can sell these for 185 all the power to you but expect them to sit for awhile at that price.

Care to link us where you picked these up for 145?
The deal has long since expired but here is the link. http://www.ncixus.com/products/60714/11162-15-20G/SAPPHIRE/
It was all over the mining forums when it was available though.
Yeah i saw that one too bad they are out of stock

Can vouch for seller. Bought from him before smooth transaction.

No need to get so defensive I was just giving my opinion. A week ago I picked up 5 5850's for 145 each brand new so deals are out there. I just don't think there would be interest for 200. The people who are looking to buy mining equipment now are trying to find good deals. There isn't a mad dash to get started as soon as possible like there use to be.

Care to link us where you picked these up for 145?

534  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just getting start on the site i have lot of questions on: August 08, 2011, 08:12:13 PM
If you are in the US, https://mtgox.com/ seems to be the exchange with the most volume and generally controls the market. Most users use dwolla for trading (buying or selling) Bitcoins but there are many other ways and services that will allow you to send funds to mtgox

536  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: GPU 0 keeps locking up machine on: August 08, 2011, 06:21:26 PM
gpu0 is plugged into the monitor or it is the default primary gpu and will always be free to mine on. gpu 1,2,3,4... and so on are secondary and need dummy plugs for the most part. Others on the forums have stated that they do not need dummy plugs with 11.7 but i found that it is still a good idea. Try installing 11.6 and see if that creates a stable environment. What power supply are you using to power those cards?
537  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Outdoor mining rig, worried about condensation on: August 08, 2011, 04:02:02 PM
Look at the weather forecast for 'dewpoint'. That is the temperature at which water vapor will begin to precipitate out on surfaces. Of course, your computer and video cards are like a mini-hair dryer too, 40C air blowing around inside the case will prevent moisture accumulation.

You are all assuming that the machine will never shut off.  First night of a power failure, or mining pools down and everything stops, machine could get a bunch of condensation and be dead.

yeah as those cards cool quickly. we all no when mining stops its about a 20+ degree drop in card temps
538  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: GPU 0 keeps locking up machine on: August 08, 2011, 03:56:52 PM
used to power on the gpu when no monitor is connected

539  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining w/ two 5830s reboots system on: August 08, 2011, 02:14:38 PM
i had issues like this as well and ended up going to a 900w psu. those 5830s are power hungry especially when over clocked. i know lots og people say 600 or 700 is enough for two or the rule of thumb for btc mining is 200w per card plus 150 for mobo, memory... but for my 6 systems i needed about 250 or more per 5830. just my 2 cents
I'm not sure if your 5830's are just power hungry or what but I have a rig of 4 5830's that pull a little over 900 watts and they are all overclocked to go 330 megahash a sec. I know it pulls a little over 900 because I have a kilowatt meter.
hmmm maybe its my cooling system that is pulling more than expected. I have a crapper 1000watt and it will not power power 4 5830s. (i meant 1000w not 900 above) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817159101, 4 80mm fans on top, one 120 pushing air from the back.
540  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Read BEFORE buying Graphics card on: August 08, 2011, 03:00:47 AM
funny i have only open cards and with a little more than 3 inches they run much cooler (10-15c cooler) than the closed.  Of course i only have two in these rigs.
