201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: PHP Bitcoin Node Status Page on: March 10, 2015, 10:34:21 AM
It's pretty nice.
I'm going to see if I can get my router to point to my node and display the results.
202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin a virus to humanity, just another thing to manipulate us. on: March 10, 2015, 10:31:52 AM
It's an experiment by the illuminati to see how a one world currency can be rolled out.
203  Other / Meta / Re: What did theymos do with 200K? on: March 10, 2015, 09:59:04 AM
I wonder if SMF got any donations for their software here.

Do you mean bitcoin donation ? I do not think they are accepting bitcoin , check their "donation page" here :

This is the discussion here in the forum :

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=827784.0

and here in the smf :

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=403726.0
No how much has theymos donated to the SMF community?

Im sure wallet updates are just the start, as this coin is still fairly new. NKT community growing and support will come.

I mean, with works done so far, this price is embarassing.

not really it's a tribute coin too, what do you want from it? if it goes higher it is soley manipulation.
a fancy wallet isn't going to do shit and doesn't impress me. But hey pump it up, I need to turn more profit.
206  Other / Meta / Re: What did theymos do with 200K? on: March 10, 2015, 12:27:31 AM
man are they reinventing the wheel? This forum (SMF) is free to use, why the hell would anyone spend that much money on new forum code? Why not donate it to smf and work with the devs there to make it better?
Obviously it has held up quite well for the last 5 years too; which seems like a pretty good testament to the code.

Yes, we are creating a completely new forum software to compete with SMF. SMF has a lot of issues, it just isn't suitable for our needs. As far as how much money it costs, I hope that it will be well worth it, but frankly, creating new forum software is pretty much the only thing that the donated coins are to be used for. What else do we need? Might as well go all out.
1.5 mill would go a long way in fixing those issues. let alone a rewrite I'm sure but it isn't my money just saying.
207  Other / Meta / Re: What did theymos do with 200K? on: March 09, 2015, 10:57:33 PM
He was most likely using those funds to pay slickage, the company that is designing the new forum.

That was my first guess. But 200K for a website? Holy Crap, this is going to be amazing  Shocked
the total price is actually around a million dollars although generally speaking these kinds of projects tend to run over budget.

208  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: March 09, 2015, 08:28:49 PM
I switched to https://eclipsemc.com after cex missed some payouts and AntPool also fucked it up. If everything fails, I'll go back to slush, my first pool ever.
EcpliseMC is owned and run by Butterfly Labs.

I can't adequately convey how necessary it is for you to move your miners to any pool other than EclipseMC.

So any other pools you can recommend? PPS would be great.

Westhash is good for pps.
Slush is good for reliability, that shit is rock solid. Plus they have a cool interface.
I've heard good things about eligius.
go with btcguild over slush, higher hash, merged mining. but I hate their fee with their shitty variance. Kind of like slush
Maybe slush will update their terms to 2015 someday.
209  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: March 09, 2015, 01:09:32 AM
I don't see this pool lasting much longer.

This con outfit would have died an age ago if all the noobs had done a little research before diving in - the warnings have been there since the start:

Question: Are your staff still messing with your wallet addresses & double spending against the Bitcoin network?
yea well I had them as a backup so I have a little more than dust but not much there.
210  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: March 09, 2015, 12:48:26 AM
I don't see this pool lasting much longer.
Between raising the trading fee, the cost to withdraw and mining problems/skimming controvery
I just tried to take my minimal amount out and I guess it doesn't meet their withdraw minimum.
Kind of BS it's isn't like it's .0000001
211  Other / Meta / Re: newbie jail on: March 07, 2015, 08:23:08 PM
absolutely. There is and was nothing wrong with making 10 posts before posting a thread.
I went through it and I was surprised to see it was removed.
Plus it will cut down on the viagra spam littering the forums lately.
212  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: March 07, 2015, 07:41:54 PM
What sort of alternate reality are we living in where Slush has more hash rate than Ghash ?!? Dafuq is going on ?

Lingering DDoS still ?

thats the question I have about why ppl still use slush.
213  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Harrison Ford injured in plane crash on: March 07, 2015, 06:10:18 AM
I find it pretty sad this was on cnn breaking news.
Another fine example of american media covering fluff and avoiding the real news.
214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bryce Weiner attempted to tip ISIS!? on: March 07, 2015, 12:36:43 AM
watch that attempted $1 cost him thousands in legal fees when the US Govt decides to prosecute them on the grounds
of conspiracy aiding and abetting a terrorist organization.
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are no anonymous altcoins being widely utilized? on: March 06, 2015, 08:28:48 PM
none of you even mentioned bitcoindark. Which I think has something going for it right now.
darkcoin is a scam imnsho, monero is a lame name that I will never use on principal. and the fact the users irritate the piss out of me with all their shilling.
216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are no anonymous altcoins being widely utilized? on: March 06, 2015, 09:03:32 AM
It seems like there is a big demand for anonymity, and not just for nefarious purposes. The altcoins which offer anonymity, ranging from Anoncoin to the CryptoNote coins, have never really taken off. The ability to make anonymous transactions with any number of altcoins is available, but nobody seems to be using them on a sizable scale.

So, why do no altcoins which feature anonymity have a price over 10 USD? And why are they not more widely utilized? And please, let's not turn this into another "why X altcoin is better than Y altcoin" thread: I would just like to know why none of them have been widely utilized.

Disclosure: I have a handful of each of the CryptoNote coins and Anoncoins, but mainly use/invest in BTC.

Thanks for your opinions.

because they are still immature and or appear to be a scam.
I'm following them myself and I'm on board when my skepticism radar doesn't ping.
I bought a few coins of one I like for now only time will tell how it matures though.

While I am a supporter of bitcoin, the love is fading fast. It's like the old ford model T's. The horseless carriage is here to stay.
Which one we drive is another story.
I want my digital currency to act like cash but more. I thought bitcoin would be it when I signed up years ago.
I now feel different about that. I don't believe I'm the only one at this point either.
And no I'm not a pedo or a terrorist but it's none of your dam business what I spend my cash on and I want my digital world to be the same.
217  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: newbie question on using TAILS on: March 06, 2015, 07:09:12 AM
Hi guys
I just read somewhere that anonymous bitcoin transactions can be made using TAILS + TOR however I really don't know anything about how this works, I would appreciate if someone could explain this to me. Thanks in advance.

218  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: March 05, 2015, 10:06:19 PM
The death of a mining pool, none deserved it more.

this one will be back, its not 50btc
not if the miners don't go back and honestly none should.
They are skimming off the top, their nmc payout is wrong as is probably the other merged mined coins.
DVC hasn't paid since January. iirc maybe it's done but they need to communicate something besides burying it on their site.
No mention on the ghash site about their DDOS issues but they still have their download app notice up.
I've made more money off btcguild in the same time frame and that shouldn't be possible.
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can we improve Namecoin adoption? on: March 05, 2015, 09:35:09 PM
Namecoin is a nice alt which actually is useful. It is a shame .bit domain never took off. We need a cool site with a .bit domain to get more people to install the namecoin dns plugin.

Again - with all the squatting it simply will never work.

Those that took all the .bit domain names just want to get rich so they don't care about the success of the tech at all (in their mind they invested 10 USD to try and get 1M USD and if that doesn't happen they are happy to just lose the 10 USD and see the whole thing fail).

You just need to *forget* about .bit as that will never happen.

never say never. Who's to say a fork won't happen that will fuck er fix the squatters.
Which needs to happen anyway to fix the issue.
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can we improve Namecoin adoption? on: March 05, 2015, 11:05:05 AM
I tried using it but you had to install a firefox plugin. You couldn't simply give someone your address to type into a browser. You had to get them to install the plugin before they could use your URL. It might take off if it worked without the plugin.

It's an alternative DNS root so some type of plugin is required since browsers typically use ICANN's DNS system by default:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_DNS_root

I'd like to find a way to get more people involved as well.
I've tried looking for popular sites that have a .bit presence and haven't found any yet.
Is there a search engine for it yet? I know a lot of names are taken but they sure don't have a site.
Or I have the plugin configured wrong but I don't think so. Easier plugins would be better too though.
I'm working on an idea for a .bit site actually that will drive interest/traffic to the namecoin idea.

I'm not sure how old this is or if any of the sites are still working now but there is a list of some sites using .bit domains here:

http://www.meowbit.com/list-of-working-dot-bit-websites/
yea I'm using meowbit actually
