101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 04, 2016, 05:51:34 AM

That makes sense. Also satoshi seemed somewhat unfamiliar with ring signatures but I've heard cryptographers say that they would be well known to most cryptographers. So that also suggests he was not a cryptographer, at least not a full time one.

It is also widely speculated that 'satoshi' may be more than one person, in which case the person writing that one forum post might not be a cryptographer but some other member of the 'satoshi group' might be.

Or Satoshi was playing dumb to hide his tracks. . .

Cointelegraph article "Decred: An Innovative Cryptocurrency or a Well Arranged Scam?": http://cointelegraph.com/news/115972/decred-an-innovative-cryptocurrency-or-a-well-arranged-scam

Saw that earlier. Pretty saddened by the fact that the article is generally positive but all the quotes are quite hateful. ETH, NXT, and BitNation (Swarm too) with so much fire from out of nowhere. Very surprising since Decred isn't taking any money from anyone, but all those projects did before code was even written - and yet Decred is the scam. Really don't want to be a dick about it, but that was quite harsh, especially without talking to anyone involved in the project or the community forming here for example.

You must understand CoinTelegraph is a scam pushing outfit affiliated with DASH and Bytecoin type shitcoins.

CT hates and fears the possibility of a legitimate POS coin emerging to compete with the trash they advertise via sponsored content.

When CoinMarketCap (CT's main traffic generator) lists XDC, they will annotate it with the **premined mark of shame, something they refuse to do for Darkcoin despite it having a much higher percentage generated in the first 48 hours of its earlier-than-announced ninja launch.

I am just posting this here because I like to make noise and let the uninformed think I am nuts Smiley

I had a strange dream last night...

I also had a strange dream last night. I was astral travelling and I got to see beautiful landscapes while some force was pulling me through the air. But then the dream turned into a normal non-lucid dream where I got to teleport to Moon. For the first time in my entire life I went to the Moon while dreaming. And guess what?! The Moon wasn't spherical at all. The moon was actually shaped like a really large plate or a satellite dish turned to Earth.

So we're going to the moon, but once there it won't be what we expect? It's artificial? Contrived? Part of the NWO plan for total global surveillance via the Panopticoin?

I'm working on a cross-platform Monero GUI, codenamed Mono (esperanto for "Money"). It's essentially a Node.js app built with the Electron platform: http://electron.atom.io/

Sounds like a great project. . . thanks for doing this!
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 21, 2015, 09:12:13 PM
No government is going to be happy about people voluntarily switching to independent currencies, whether they are pseudonymous or anonymous. Bitcoin/Monero aren't illegal because they are basically seen as a sideshows. Insignificant. Non-threatening. Does Fontas think that bitcoin (but not Monero) would be tolerated if 10% of people adopted cryptocurrencies? Get real.
Tolerated? What if there's nothing they can do? And they simply have to buy in, like everyone else.

i imagine that some will buy in, some will ban, and some will do both

RAND corp has an interesting report on digital currencies as national security threats: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3xnchr/rand_corporation_is_researching_how_to_destroy/

On the subject of logos, here is my latest offering.

A better shade of blue coupled with a modern better graphic. Simple, universal and powerful.

This is the direction we should be headed.

Nice--the design elements are still there, but it doesn't hit you over the head with them.

This (in general)

Simple yet elegant. Nice design.

I like it.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -> Monero Community Hall of Fame <- on: December 19, 2015, 02:31:06 PM
Should there be two new Dans added to the Hall of Fame? Sticking with what the current setup is it would look like 9th Dan would be 10,000 XMR, and 10th Dan would be 25,000 XMR. I think Articmine is the only member of 9th Dan.

I'm not sure if diamonds would be adequate for these Dans, can anyone think of something more luxurious?  Cheesy

I would love to see more people donate. Donations feed the progress of our beloved XMR, and that will make it worth that much more. Cheesy

It seems to go up in the pattern of 1-2-5 which would be 10K-20K-50K resulting in ArticMine being 10th Dan and you close to 9th Dan.

No idea about anything more luxurious because to me the only things listed that are luxurious are the Bale of High Quality Hygiene Paper and Gold Grin  As far as what would be more valuable than diamonds, I am still clueless.

awful name. "cred" makes me think credibility and the "de" prefix makes it sound like this currency has none. what will the singular form be? people will read it and not even have a guess of how to pronounce it because it looks like half a word.

i guess its better than a cutsey video game type name but you nerds really ought to ask someone with at least a little bit of marketing creativity for some insight.

good luck though  Wink

I'm not thrilled with the name either; it's somehow cacophonous. I suggest a brainstorming session, if the devs are open to alternatives.

What is the origin and meaning of the name "Decred"? How is it pronounced?
113  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2015-12-14: Do you think we have broken out of the long-term bear market? on: December 15, 2015, 06:21:12 AM
I think you have to start a "Poll" thread instead of a "Topic" thread. See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=help;page=post#newpoll
114  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2005-12-14: Do you think we have broken out of the long-term bear market? on: December 15, 2015, 04:47:47 AM
Yes; shouldn't you make this into a Poll?
115  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is probably old, how high will btc go this time around? on: December 12, 2015, 03:18:10 PM
My guess - $10,000 to $50,000 range.  Probably 2017 some time.

My theory is that it will go to $3200 before the next 2008 financial crash happens, then when signs of bad shit going down starts to happen, it will hit something like $10k, then when the crash truly begins to blow some shit up, then the Bitcoin black swan truly occurs and it goes to something like $40k-100k.

I like how you think.
116  Economy / Speculation / Re: $470 -> $420 Starting to crash? Or short term adjustment? on: December 12, 2015, 02:28:54 PM
A drop of that magnitude was neccessary to reverse the short term trend downward so that the chart has enough time to fill in before the next leg up. Any less of a drop and it wouldn't turn, it would just keep going, which would be bad.

Why does the chart need to "fill in" and what would have been bad about a monotonic rise with no drops?
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: December 10, 2015, 02:37:53 AM
I like the "symmetric" one--it has the infinity sign diagonally embedded within it. Maybe that could be the currency symbol?

Pretty good.

Recently i2p enabled donations in monero, which is good first step for others:

https://geti2p.net/en/get-involved/donate

Thus, it good to show them that accepting monero was good decidsion. So, if possible send them 1 or 2 xmr.

Thanks for the reminder; donated: Money successfully sent, transaction <94f6993ae92117bc42611e2357d833b6b9e2ed29f90961612a52bc7eda332a6d>
