It might be easier to explain Bitcoin, first without the concept of block, second with the concept of block as a way to address the scalability issue.

jgarzik is quite right. The SHA-256 algorithm is property of the US and export regulations for SHA-256 expressively forbid exporting the algorithm or products based on the algorithm to Iran.
What if you are not a USA citizen? Will the US government still drone bomb you, if you provide SHA256 to Iranian citizens? It's silly to bring ammunitions to all the opponents of bitcoin by drawing attention to Iran,a state known for performing significantly more terrorist activities than your average government. It's a good way to raise awareness of bitcoin in a very bad light. The timing is just wrong because bitcoin is not widespread enough today to afford this kind of freedom. Jeff Garzick was right in banning idiotic propositions. Timing is everything. |

I just tried to withdraw 60-ish GBP to a UK bank account and apparently there's now a 20 EUR fee to do this. It appears I needed to be more paranoid about reading the small print - the reasonable fees for SEPA withdrawals only apply to EUR and everything else has a 20 EUR minimum withdrawal fee! I suppose at least they e-mailed me about this, but I'm going to lose a fair bit to the awful spread on the GBP market there, which presumably exists because the only reason to trade there is if you don't realise how expensive the fees are.
You have to understand:the 20 € fee is imposed by the bank, not BC. BC is only charging what the bank is charging. It seems that a SEPA wire is free of charge only if it is denominated in EURO; Otherwise the banks have it their way. Until the situation changes, it's advisable to not send or withdraw GBP in small amounts. The best option is still to convert GBP to EURO before making the deposit. |

Quand je dis "offre", ils sont proposés à prix coûtant, c'est à dire 1.58 BTC sur microbitcoin.fr, avec aussi des cartes cadeaux Paytunia. J'expédie tout ça depuis Paris donc , a priori plus rapidement que Casascius lui-même auprès de qui je les ai achetés en gros l'année dernière. Ils sont disponibles à l'unité, payables en bitcoins (envoi dans les 24 heures) ou par chèque (envoi après encaissement). NB: le site microbitcoin.fr, que j'ai développé, a été testé sur tous les navigateurs sauf IE bien entendu: utilisez donc des vrais navigateurs comme Chrome, Safari ou Firefox). Si les bitcoin sont une matière première (c'est ce que je crois), alors il est tout à fait légal de les accepter dans une transaction: c'est du troc qui est autorisé dans le code civil en France depuis plus de 150 ans.. j'ai trouvé sur le site ecotopie le paragraphe suivant pour la Belgique: Au yeux du code TVA, l'échange est "un contrat par lequel les parties se donnent mutuellement une chose en contrepartie d'une autre chose, en d'autres termes, c'est un contrat qui comporte deux transmissions. " L'échange est donc considéré comme une double vente dont chaque transmission en Belgique est soumise à la TVA, mais seulement lorsque le cédant est un assujetti qui agit en tant que tel.
1 ) échange entre deux assujettis imposés : les deux actes sont soumis à une TVA de 21% mais en principe uniquement sur la marge bénéficiaire. (brocanteurs, acheteurs- revendeurs);
2) échange entre deux assujettis exonérés : aucun acte n'est soumis à la taxe; 3) échange entre un assujetti et un exonéré : un acte soumis et un acte exonéré. .. Electrum est un programme client-serveur. Le serveur est un nœud lourd dans le réseau p2p. Le client non, mais c'est lui qui gère les clés privés. Le serveur ne peut donc pas voler le client, même s'il est contrôlé par des criminels. .. @caveden Désolé, c'est faux: si le serveur electrum est compromis il peut présenter une fausse chaine au client et lui faire accepter des "double-spends", c'est à dire des bitcoins déjà dépensés. |
