1021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 28, 2014, 02:16:16 PM
So Bittrex had disabled Monero deposits and withdrawals fro 3 days? They seems really don't want to earn any money.

I believe that they reopened it.
1022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 28, 2014, 12:23:26 AM
What exchanges besides bter are having issues?

Bittrex is still disabled.
1023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: September 28, 2014, 12:14:31 AM
He was having issues sending from his wallet to bter a few days ago.  He sent from his wallet to bter and I believe at that time deposits were disabled.  He posted about it in the monero.crypto-pool.fr thread as I assume he mines there.  supperresistant was helpful as usual.  As of yesterday he was still waiting on bter deposits to open up.

Yeah I'm hoping all the exchanges start accepting deposits soon also.

I have 3 GAW Fury miners I'm willing to let go.
1025  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] ANTMINER S4 COUPONS on: September 26, 2014, 01:42:09 AM
People will still buy them...any miner at retail does not turn a profit, yet they still sell. I think most miners are either really optimistic or they suck at math  Huh

LOL the irony of the whole thing.  A math based crypto coin supported by people that suck at math.   Cheesy

Oh people are definitely buying them as you can see in the transactions at http://btc.blockr.io/address/info/1QB8Ds5KbGYBLQa5RyDQ2sVUeSKWf7qgkZ

I'm just hoping to buy them used in a couple of months for cheap while you're sleeping because that's the only time anybody else gets to buy anything decent from here.
1026  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: September 26, 2014, 01:30:15 AM
I see that people are buying them... how crazy it is ? I mean if you are using 2.5 BTC to buy the 2 th that would make you .9 btc you just lost about 1.7 btc may as well just buy the bitcoin with cash... 2 more months at this rate and bitcoin mining will be dead and 51% attack would be possible... POW is the flaw of bitcoin i believe...

I'm glad people are buying them so I can buy them used for a lot cheaper a couple of months from now!  Cheesy
1027  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 40 Antminer S3 with Power Supplies. 400.00 each. on: September 26, 2014, 12:36:50 AM

Total price is 17k, keep them here (negotiate something with me for that) or ship them out to you (you pay shipping
or pick them up)

$400 each times 40 would be $16k not $17k.  I'm guessing just a typo.
1028  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] ANTMINER S4 COUPONS on: September 26, 2014, 12:30:04 AM
Yeah I'd like to know how much the coupon knocks off the 3.524 BTC price of the S4.  I don't see them selling out of batch 1's.

Edit:  Found this on their site "Each coupon has a value of $200"
1029  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 2TH/s, Batch 1 on Sale this week, shipping before Sept. Ends on: September 24, 2014, 01:21:14 AM
I think it is better that they are late taking orders than taking orders early and shipping late like so many other companies.

Well BCX said he was going to destroy the half dead piddly hashrate Digitalcoin (DGC) a few months back which unfortunately never occurred, though BCX still mentions it as an imminent event with the same baited breath used with XMR.  So is it just bark and no bite?  XMR would take a few order of magnitude more resources to attack than DGC so there would have to be more incentive than just muscle flexing.  Maybe BCX could at least follow through on wiping DGC off the planet as a show of good faith that he will follow through with an attack on XMR.  Wink

I'm not so sure about that.  There are 3 pools that make up like 70% of the hash rate.  One could probably DDoS all three pools at the same time and reduce the hash rate to 30% of what it is.  On top of that some of the attacks I read about in the past only required 20% of the hash rate.

I think, while it may be partially true, that your achievements didn't get honored enough, It's also partially misinterpretation. While you go the more theoretical way, that any flaw should be fixed as fast as possible and than even in edge cases no attack vector should exist, fluffypony is going the more simple way (and you may want to cal it realistic way), in that an attack can be mitgated post-happening through some centralized efforts, which is at it's gist only a different approach (and thus a different opinion), then yours (and to be quite frankly the worse). Though this can be interpreted as downplaying and disrespecting your efforts.
"When we can rollback the attack, why should we bother?" seems to be your interpretation of fluffypony's posts, but it's more of an
"We are trying as hard as possible to find the exploit and are supporting your efforts, but if we won't be able to fix it in time, we still can go the centralized and worse way in trying to rollback it similiar to Bitcoin".

I think everyone is aware that a post-mitgation is always worse, fluffy just wanted to show a (worse) way in mitgating it afterwards, but by still being fully aware of the disadvantages of this.

Please don't mistake a different opinion with disresepct or trolling and continue to work on it, you're doing a great job!

It's kind of troubling that a small group of people can just up and decide to roll back your coins and transactions.  I'm pretty sure that is one of the last resorts they want to use, but the fact that that scenario exists also means that there is a way to potentially exploit that as well.

I figure I've got a couple of days to learn how and set something up.

I've never mined a damn thing...don't know anything about it.  Can I mine CPU?  Can I use Amazon ec2?  How to set that up?  I will find some reading on it tomorrow night, but if anybody can point me to shortcuts, PM me or post here.

Check your PM for AWS mining info.

I might be interested in giving that a shot as well.  Any chance you could copy and paste that to me as well?  Thanks.
1034  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: I want to pass on some good karma very good deal on asicminer tubes. I have 2 on: September 21, 2014, 03:51:36 AM
Your amazing luck continues!  Grats to you!  If I had power supplies I'd drive down there tomorrow to get them.  Good luck!

You're standing at the altar with your beautiful wife and her ex yells out, "She's a slut!" Then her warthog of a cousin jumps up and says, "Take me! I'm single!"

LOL thanks for the good chuckle  Cheesy
1036  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: miners shutting down? on: September 20, 2014, 03:22:22 AM
Even if it got to the point that they had to shut down, they could just as easily power back up once it is profitable again.  Plus I have to imagine that there are farms running on renewable energy like solar or wind that at this point have very low overhead.  Those facilities would probably remain profitable for quite some time.

And heat for the winter
1038  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL gets raided and the Hashrate drops! Connection? on: September 20, 2014, 03:14:46 AM
I still can't find any information if it was actually confirmed or not that they were raided.
1039  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 4xS1 O/C to 200GHs on: September 18, 2014, 10:51:45 PM
$50 shipped too!
1040  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 2TH/s, Batch 1 on Sale this week, shipping before Sept. Ends on: September 17, 2014, 03:08:35 PM
They need a little time to swap all the S2's in their farm with S4's then they will start shipping customers equipment once they have rode out another difficulty increment at increased hash rate  Tongue

Yup.  Once this is released difficulties will skyrocket.  If they price it too high, then you never ROI.  If they price it low, then they sell a ton of them and difficulties sky rockets and again you never ROI.

I wonder what happens to all their old S2's from their farm.  I wished they would sell those really cheap.
