161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 16, 2015, 01:59:30 PM
Is there a budget system here?  and Is there a way to know where these coins are going too like which project? (talking about the donations and MoneroDice 10% funds)

Most of the funding (crowdfunding/donations) is now via the Forum Funding System, where you can see which projects were funded under Work In Progress and Completed Tasks (in the Archive section). New proposals are in Funding Required.  All of those are here: https://forum.getmonero.org

The direct donations to the project were used for some freelance developers, crypto review, etc. last year along with ongoing things like hosting, legal, etc. That had some accounting posted a while back, where the amount donated ended up being well short of the amount actually spent, with the remainder covered by the core team itself. Since the development is now primarily funded by the FFS above, direct donations have tapered off but donations for covering project overhead are still welcome.

The MoneroDice 10% funds don't exist yet as at least two people have explained, but if and when they do exist they will probably go through the FFS. That's up to fluffypony though.

I love the transparency of the Monero team.

Profitability for the dice site will come in the long term. In the short term, normal variance (and a low house edge) can lead to unpredictable results.

Regarding listing on poloniex, I don't agree that it can't happen before database, RAM and resources is not a problem for polo since they became a major altcoin exchange and their fees can easily cover such tiny expenses. Human resources is much more expensive and currently they are wasting many human hours to manage all the shitcoins with 0 or close to 0 volume that does not belong there, legacy of their past. It's time consuming job to handle all the forks, problems in these daemons.

I never said it can't happen. I said " I'm pretty sure what will happen is they will either relist it because its value and volume grows enough to make it compelling, or they will wait for a database version so the cost of supporting it isn't so high. For an exchange that runs dozens of wallets, needing several gigabytes of RAM for one coin is a big expense."

You could certainly add support costs for another wallet to that expense.

If they really wanted to do it of course they can do it.

Quote
I think main reason that AEON still not listed back there is that you, yes, you didn't asked them to re-enable it back. So everyone who has spare minute can go and submit a form on their website to show some love to AEON and poloniex and explain why it's better than probably next coin in their internal queue.

More visible customer demand could help, but please be polite about it and don't make it look like we are trying to flood them with requests.

I hope they add it. Poloniex seems to have consistently more volume than Bittrex for most CryptoNote coins

Are there any Boolberry payment processing services?

Not that I am aware of. I would love to see one accept Boolberry.

just that we dont have to play Bd4 Smiley

If you recommend Bg6 to avoid a forced draw why did you still vote Rd8 instead of Bg6? Was it because you think white will accept a draw and you don't want that or because you are trying to beat g4 in the voting?

For anyone that does not want to allow the forced perpetual check line below I recommend voting for Bg6 instead.

this coin is not bad, but to big to move.
I suggest to liquidate and invest on ANC.
Why? Because it is not big yet. It is the opposite, small and very low profile.
Yet rare and with excellent developers.

Just be realistic.

How can you come here and say be realistic? Look at this quote from one of ANC your devs:

Also, and most importantly, GroundRod our Chief Developer is no more, in fact he may be actually dead... but because he is anonymous we cannot be sure although it is 4 months he disapeared. Sad

So we are looking for a skilled C++ coder to review the GroundRod code and finally release this awesome work!

Until and unless we find this new C++ coder we will not release. It would be a shame considering the amount of work GroundRod put in this new codebase (updated to bitcoin 10.99).

Pass the word around!

CS

Monero has many developers and does not rely on 1 person with C++ skills

Maybe we can get the Knight at d3, that's a normal way to play with this situation; Knight through d7 and c5 to d3. The pawn to d3 looks like giving away our advantage.
But still looks like we first must play 24. ... - Qg6. Can't play 24. Nd7 now.

I find this thread funny. A Monero troll circle-jerk. No one cares except you sideshow clowns! You are just annoying everybody else with your spam agenda.

Did that take you twenty hours to come up with?

I think it is a genuine question that should be answered by Evan.

And not with the excuse "well it's not that important".

The problem with that response is that it totally undermines the original reason he was selling/hyping that particular feature of Dark/Dash back then and all of his yuppies were "hooray"-ing about it.

Now some of those same people appear to think Evan not delivering on his own words is "irrelevant".

Some people like to get lied to? Undecided

I would also like to hear Evans reason for dropping this. Show DASH supporters the respect the deserve by explaining why your plans changed.

crypto_zoidberg,

It would be nice if you stopped by more often to tell us what you are working on. I think more people here would like to help but feel like they are out of the information loop.

Best regards

Yes it would but I wouldn't hold out too much hope for any kind of sudden reappearance from crypto_zoidberg with magical keys to the kingdom.  Even if they were to return with gusto just what exactly are they going to do?  The current environment with crypto is not conducive to coins with great tech and a great dev.  The environment is still centered on vaporware, false promises, and scams.  There are few avenues for legitimate coins offering new technology to break through the quick pump and dump mentality that currently permeates the entire altcoin world.  It's a frustrating reality that isn't likely to change anytime soon.

What do you propose the Boolberry community should do to help?

Well, being a fan of the non-symmetrical version, I could still get behind this particular symmetry.  It seems to preserve the shape of the "e" without degenerating into a squiggle.  Good job, MoneroMoo.

critical, other aeon fans, what are your thoughts?

personally i prefer the second one. it looks more smooth (pun intended).
joke aside: the first one seems to hard to me - dont know how to explain it better in english..sorry

The second one is my choice as well
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 10, 2015, 05:49:56 AM
Most alts spend >90% of their lives falling against bitcoin and <10% of their lives rising against bitcoin.

altcoin investors must get used to the idea that we will spend 90% of our time watching our money shrink and 10% of our time watching it explode.

My hypothesis is that the transition to the next XMR bull market will be sudden, not gradual. People will be wondering whether XMR is dead in one moment; in the next, it will be rocketing to .01 per bitcoin or beyond.

The large amount of XMR available at low cost for borrowing keeps the rallies tamped down.

But when too many short sellers try to cover at once, it's off to the moon.

This is exactly why margin trading is dangerous. It has the potential to increase volatility.

I was not expecting this. I keep seeing more github activity. Is there a recent update for when the next release will be ready? Is it just a matter of more testing and bug fixing now? I hope no new features are being added to 0.9 at this point if that is what is causing the delay.

In our game I vote for 37.Rd1

What is our rook doing on b2? If 37.Rd2 a5 we can play 38.Rb2 again opening up some queenside files. If that does not happen our f1 rook seems better placed than our b2 rook. I like the idea of pressuring d6 to keep black on the defensive.

It is indeed sad to see so many scams in crypto. The only good news is that people will be cautious in the future and look at the tech being used instead of believing promises and closed sourced vaporware projects. This is good for Boolberry as its CryptoNote implementation holds up well to scrutiny, but we need to bring more attention to it.

Well, you may have wallet ready in some weeks time, but I have my ANC on Craptsy and CEX, need to get them out of both, but without wallet?

you can get the anoncoin-qt software on your own computer https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Download or use the ExchangeD.I2P wallet

both work right now, the upcoming 969 code is just a new version of anoncoin.

the exchanged.i2p exchange is awesome =]

and im guessing theres no way it can be DDOS'd since retrieving its ip is a no-go Cheesy

any website can be ddosed darknet or otherwise. but it is harder to DDOS ExchangeD.I2P then say an .onion site because i2prouter has built in request limit features.

You keep trying to promote your exchange but it has no liquidity (based on your orderbook). Your exchange could really benefit by having a market maker for each coin. I will never use an exchange with an order book as thin as yours is now.

If you are not willing to do that, someone should start an OTC ANC orderbook here on bitcointalk. BTC38 is okay for some people but I dont like that you have to use Facebook to sign up (I am not joking. Click Login/Reg on http://www.btc38.com/trade_en.html to see that they ask for Facebook authentication to register) No way will I use Cryptsy at this point.
