Rd1
262  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lets play a game of Chess on: October 17, 2015, 02:05:38 AM
The second problem looks easier than the first one to me. Just play c7 and black cant stop you from queening. Black can give some checks, Rd6 check, Kb5, Rd5 check, Kb4, Rd4 check, Kb3, Rd3 check Kc2 and queen next move.

The hard part was seeing Rd6 check, Kc5 is a mistake because of Rd1 and c8=queen loses to Rc1 check. White can still make a draw with Kc6 or Kb6 instead of c8 = queen

The second problem looks easier to you because you think you solved it! You have not completed the problem.

"Kc2 and queen next move" is not correct with best play by black. Try to figure out why. After you play Kc2, black will play Rd4. Spend more time thinking about what will happen next.

The first problem touches on one of the most important ideas in king and pawn endgames (along with opposition) the square of the pawn.

Are you saying that I should be solving all the way to mate? I know that King and Queen against King and Rook is supposed to be enough to win. Eventually the person with the Queen can either win the rook or force checkmate.

Here are two famous endgame problems.  The second one is more difficult than the first so choose based on your experience level. If you have seen these before you can confirm when someone answers correctly but please don't reveal the answer.

Easier
White to move and draw:

Harder
White to move and win:

Think he actually bought after he imploded the market, yet he spent too much money imploding the market for any other people to have confidence in buying back in.

'Bought' meaning he covered his shorts.

Sounds like he/she was able to cover the short at lower prices. That means the trade was profitable!

It would be nice to hear more about SuperNET in this thread. I don't have the knowledge to add much value in slack. Who from Boolberry is most active in slack talking with the SuperNET people? Or are we waiting for the DB work to be complete first?
266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: October 16, 2015, 11:33:31 PM
Okay so I was watching the thread and no have decided to get on board the AEON train.

What would be a reasonable AEON purchase amount? I've seen elsewhere people saying 10% AEON and 90% XMR.

Fact is it is going to be hard to buy a lot of value of AEON with the total market cap being something like 150 BTC. Buying even 100k coins which by any reasonable standard makes you a whale only costs 1.8 BTC at current market...

Quote
I don't have that much XMR, but I'm keen to go fairly heavy in AEON providing Bittrex can take the volume. Also on that note, any strategies for accumulating in low volume conditions?

Place bids slightly below market (maybe 5-10%) and wait for dumps. Or try to find an OTC deal for a large block.

I don't see many large sellers on exchange on in OTC thread right now. Are most people just sitting on their coins and waiting?

No-one's likely to sell OTC at these prices.

Hear that silence? That's the sound of people trying to get in.

Best option is to accumulate at Bittrex and catch the miner dumps. They tend to be fairly regular.

That is easier said than done without knowing when the miners will sell. Often when a big is placed someone places a higher bid 1 satoshi higher. Without sitting on the exchange all day or using a trading bot of some sort buying on the exchange for a good price is difficult. Limit orders for AEON are not easy to execute.
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 15, 2015, 06:59:47 AM
I don't think a smart enough AI will find use in cryptocurrencies, maybe in the blockchain technology, if we can't get humans to use it directly the field is doomed because I foresee a process of fiatization with 3rd-parties and intermediate services that will keep us in the current status-quo but with a kwel blockchain at the heart, specialized AIs will eventually take control of several trading markets it should still have humans in control or as primary beneficiaries. I also don't think Bitcoin (or any crypto) is a new Internet, I don't see future in smart contracts, and any coin with POS is DOA. Monero is pretty much state-of-art, growing but few people using it. I see that the devs will keep going no matter what as they are committed with this project, Monero time will come, its eternal disinflationary emission will make sure it will stay economically viable even if the price doesn't breaks $1 for a long time - but this is the worst-case scenario because I doubt I'll still be seeing XMR bellow $1 in 2022 unless something happened.

The biggest impact I see AI having on crypto is blockchain analysis, which might accelerate the movement of people from BTC to XMR in order to protect their privacy.

My vote is for h3. On Rd1 there is Ng4 followed by Qb6 with f2 becoming a problem. I also do not like Nd5 since it allows Ng4.

I would like to change my vote to h3 instead of Nd5.

Interesting question from Monero thread:

If XMR is still around in 2020. What do you expect the price (in Bitcoin) to be by then?

Lets answer the same question for Boolberry!

I would be happy with .005 BTC.

.01BTC and in 2nd place among anon coins:

1st         Monero
2nd        Boolbery
3rd         AEON
4th         ZeroCash
5th         DSH
781st      SDC
782nd     DASH
1873th    XDN
2464th    BCN

WTB mostly play amounts PM offer

Don't forget that mining play amounts is pretty easy. You'll get 1-2 blocks per day solo mining on a decent desktop.

WTB AEON. PM me your offers

Is this still going? What is the auction end date? Why not just sell on an exchange?

Hello BBR community,

I've been dabbling in a bit of coding over the last couple of months and finally can unveil the test version of..... Popboolr.

http://popboolr.com

How to play

1. Login: Log in using your Twitter account details:

The game sounds wonderful but I am wondering if there are any privacy/security  concerns about this step. Even if we trust you, what happens if your server gets hacked? Would our Twitter account data be at risk?

Can someone give me some cliff notes for this?

https://github.com/ShenNoether/MiniNero/blob/master/RingCT0.1_copy.pdf

I assume it is too late for 0.9 but could it be in the next release? Is this as important as it sounds? What are the negatives? Anything we should be worried about from sections 4, 5 or six of the paper (tag linkability, exculpability and unforgeability) still needs to be completed)

1. Definitely not going to be in 0.9. The math isn't even done yet (as you pointed out).

2. The idea is to still have ring signatures, and allow the amounts to be hidden but cryptographically commit to sum(out)=sum(in).

You are good at giving technical answers that make sense to people like me who are not overly technical. I like the way that sounds. Hopefully it works out and can be implemented eventually.
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 13, 2015, 03:29:52 AM
i heard about Gox the main problem was they ran a custom back end wallet which was problematic
and eventually they started fudging the books toying with things then when guys got spooked
they didn't have the capital to pay out so many withdrawls and eventually Mark threw a story out about hackers
when in reality he had the coins and knew exactly what the problem was..
NOTE: He had his lawyer admit he found something like 200,000 Bitcoins or something on a USB drive he said he "found in his couch"
AFTER he claimed hackers stole the coins (back around when Gox closed)

cryptsy ?
i think they have had similar problems over the last few years.. i have seen many times that BTC withdrawls will
end up frozen on people when it rocketed up in price.. this got so notorious before i started predicting it..
i would pull my coins out then tell others and then say i told you so afterwards.
i have also seen other fishy account freezing going on before..
what happened only they know but many warning signs point to them not being as honest as they claim to be
I stopped using them and never went back when i was fed some bs excuses when my coins vanished before while i was arb'ing
as soon as some coin exploded in value.. bam ! transfer problems and when i asked i was told their was a fork
and i went to every other exchange and all the other users and not 1 person on the internet so much as hinted at a fork..
BitJohn lied to me i think on Cryptsy chat about it and only after i badgered him about it..
I was on chat for hours and every once in a while i would ask if anyone else was waiting for coins too.. (they were ignoring me on chat playing dumb)
Eventually i was threatened to shut up about it or i'd be booted (they wanted the problem to be quiet)
I am certain they were simply freezing access to peoples coins so they could take advantage of the pump on the coin
by doing their own arb'ing.. with MY coins !
I came here and complained about it and said hey Cryptsy.. that is OUR money not yours your holding
Don't you god damn ever forget that !
so.. i left and i never did trust them and i have seen them pull a lot of shady sketchy shit over the years.
Holding large amounts of coins on there is very dumb i figure.

I cant wait for true decentralized blockchain based exchanges with liquidity.  The have been far too many hacks at various exchanges to trust them with a large amount.
