301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 26, 2015, 08:38:14 AM

If such legit merchant processors as Bitpay and Coinbase reject dirty BTC, why do you think any crypto transaction processor will accept XMR payments if everyone knows that XMR is widely used for dark deals?

The laws in every country are different and will impact the decisions of companies like Bitpay. If enough companies start to blacklist BTC then the acceleration to alternatives such as Monero will accelerate
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Eventually the FUNGIBILITY issue of bitcoin will make headlines ... on: September 26, 2015, 08:30:24 AM
LIke I said in the OP there will come a day when a new user will buy bitcoins (say locally for cash) and when he goes to use them at a business or exchange or where ever they will be rejected. Not 100% of the time...but it will happen and we all know how the media today loves to jump on anything bitcoin related that is negative.

For the millionth time this is only true if you choose to do business with a company who does not actually accept bitcoin but fiat. If you happen to transact with a user or a company in a peer-to-peer manner on the Bitcoin network there will never be such a thing as "transaction rejected".

The fact that people will have to worry about which merchants will accepted all btc and which may reject btc based on some list is not a good thing for encouraging mass adoption.

If BTC was perfectly fungible this concern would not exist.
303  Other / Off-topic / Re: IS UFO or ALIENS are real ? on: September 26, 2015, 08:25:32 AM
ufo and aliens are different things lol. The first is a flying object you can't identify. (probably nothing special most of the time) The second is probably real, but there is no reason to believe they are here on Earth.

Its rare to see a thread where the first response is so accurate.

I agree with this analysis

17. Be3

That's the reason we moved h3.

+1 for
17. Be3

For anyone that wants to join more than 1 chess game at once:

Boolberry vs Monero Chess Challenge and CryptoNote technical discussion
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1190988.0

Lets make color assignment fair. The first person to reply to this thread and state which team they are on (Monero or Boolberry) earns their team the white pieces.

I still like Boolberry. Please don't hate me but I decided to join the Monero team since they have the white pieces. I find playing black much harder than playing white. If there is a rematch and BBR gets white I will join you next time!
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero vs Boolberry Chess Challenge and CryptoNote technical discussion on: September 26, 2015, 08:07:56 AM
I like both coins but choose the Monero side because I prefer to play the white pieces in chess

I vote for 1.e4

Can I make a recommendation? Maybe instead of just talking about the technical differences in BBR and XMR you can compare CryptoNote solutions to the bitcoin fungibility issues described here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1190707.0

You could also compare and contrast CryptoNote (and the differences between XMR and BBR) to other existing and future alternatives such as Coin Join, Coin Shuffle, Zero Coin, Confidential Transactions and so on.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Boolberry Solves CryptoNote Flaws on: August 28, 2015, 07:11:14 PM
Zoidberg is active again. he recently posted in the boolberry thread talking about a GUI miner
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2015, 07:09:27 PM
How much is the effect of bitcoin swings to Monero price ?

Monero dont exist long enough to really know. From last April when Monero was born, Bitcoin was mainly falling and is at less then half of that price. Last half year Monero was mainly at around $0.5.

Less and less Moneros are being mined daily. Ans that is what will be main factor at determining price in now we could say near future.

decreasing emission will have some impact, how much is uncertain. I think LMDB, crypto kingdom and an eventual official GUI will mean more
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: August 28, 2015, 07:05:22 PM
Hey folk!

We are looking for someone who can work out X11 GPU miner (both OpenCL and Cuda).
Need to make changes in block size (adapt for cryptonote-family block) and test it with server pool software.

We pay in Bitcoins.
Let me know if someone is familiar with this code and ready to sort out things for us.

Zoidberg.

Hello Zoidberg!

Good to hear from you. How is the Louisd’or project going? What are you future plans for BBR?

I hope a new GPU miner will help increase the hash rate!

Can someone take a look at this post? https://forum.getmonero.org/1/news-announcements-and-editorials/252/monday-monero-missives-28-march-30th-2015?page=&noscroll=1#post-1627

I'd like for the missives to get on iTunes and it only requires a small RSS edit to get this to happen. Seeing this reddit post reminded me recently: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/3hakv7/what_about_new_monero_missives/

great idea with itunes. google play would be good too

I am happy to hear about the new Cryptsy listing! Now we just need bitfinex and btce!

I will try to be more active too. It is nice to see Reddit picking up a little bit lately.

I find something interesting.....

CZ does not post here often but he does log on:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=170073
According to his profile he was last here August 4th.  Clearly he could just read the forums without logging on at all. Why bother logging in if you are not going to post?

I think it must have a meaning. At the very least he is telling us he is alive. Could it also be that he wants us to know he is still active and has grand plans for BBR? It just makes no sense to me why he would keep logging on unless he wanted us to know he was still here.

CZ is a great developer and I am willing to wait
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 02, 2015, 06:23:36 PM
There is a significant amount of skepticism about the progress and development of anoncoin here on bitcointalk. This is because (amoung other things) bitcointalk isnt the center of the anoncoin world. If you would like the most up to date news and talk to the devs, join the anonymous darknet irc channel.

That skepticism is well deserved based on the ridiculous amount of time since the last ANC tagged release and the fact that the first post in this thread has not been updated in a very long time.
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: August 02, 2015, 06:14:36 PM
you guys should direct your efforts towards bringing zoidberg back or remove his 1% reward of each block and get smooth to back BBR.  because without a programmer behind the project whatever you are doing right now serves no purpose except finding a way to empty your bags to newcomers

What are you talking about?

BBR has a nice GUI and a better working mixin anon solution than any other cryptonote coin. unlike bcn it had no premine.

Its market cap right now is only 360 BTC!
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/boolberry/

Monero has a market cap of 18,385 BTC
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/monero/

For 1/50th the market cap I would say zoidberg earned his 1% block reward. If you click on his profile it shows he has logged in recently and smooths post proves zoidberg has done the work to allow for supernet integration.

I say community should be emailing supernet leaders and asking them to hurry up with integrating bbr. or send them btc to help with that effort

BBR has less blockchain bloat, better mixin and am official GUI more than a year before XMR. Although XMR was launched 1st (BBR 2nd), boolberry was actually the first cryptonote coin to be announced after the failed bcn 80% premine scam was rejected by the community at the time

Best thing about Monero is its large community. If Boolberry was as well know I bet its market cap would be just as large if not larger than Monero right now.

There is no cryptonote coin as advanced as bbr for so cheap. xdn has some nice features but had a fast mine back when it had a different name and no features. the xdn devs probably got most of the coins for themselves back then before massively improving it.

BBR is by far the best value in cryptonote.

My caveat is that I do understand economies of scale so also like XMR for its larger community

people should either try to grow bbr community or help encourage faster supernet integration. If BBR just reaches the current XMR market cap it is a 50x return. I think the potential is much larger than that. of course there are risks. but can anyone honestly say the potential reward here is not gigantic?

GNOSIS IS BACK!!!!!!

from #anoncoin-dev in irc2p:

Gnosis [nunya@7h5b2mduixkumb2aztv7qi5zgzjv45m2y2cckbhiknrnm5m5dh3q.b32.i2p] entered the room.
mode (+o Gnosis) by ChanServ
Gnosis: hi
Cryptoslave_ left the room (quit: Connection reset by peer).
Gnosis: I apologize for going away for so long
Gnosis: I'm working on picking up where I left off
me: Gnosis: \o/
me: welcome back!!!!
Gnosis: thanks!
me: what happened?
Gnosis: well I was working as a technical cofounder of a startup from November to March
me: got moneyz?
Gnosis: that took up just about 100% of my time
Gnosis: yes
me: what startup if you dont mind me asking or is it private?
Gnosis: mostly because of my current job
Gnosis: it's a mobile app
Gnosis: but yeah, private Smiley
me: cool
Gnosis: or, it _was_
Gnosis: didn't get funding
me: so are you back for good? how much free time do you have?
me: that sucks Sad
me: i launched a startup earlier this month
Gnosis: I'm not going to go away until I'm done
Gnosis: I can promise that much
Gnosis: hard to say how many hours per week I'll have
Gnosis: what was your startup?
Cryptoslave [Cryptoslav@znc.k1773r.i2p] entered the room.
me: exchanged.i2p
me: the first ever darknet cryptocureency exchange
Gnosis: awesome
me: also join #exchange
me: Smiley
Gnosis: somebody had to be the first
Gnosis: ok
Gnosis: does GroundRod come in here much?
me: groundrod has been working but not active on irc so much
me: we sends weekly emails though
Gnosis: ah cool
Gnosis: I'll PM him on btctalk
me: dont forget to post that you are back
me: Smiley
Gnosis: right
Gnosis: honestly though I don't want to spend more than 5-10% of my time replying to stuff on btctalk
me: dont
me: bitcointalk is a cesspool
Gnosis: there is just an enormous number of speculators both for and against ANC
me: truth
me: just something to let people know you are still alive
Gnosis: I'm bad at PR anyway
Gnosis: I'd rather hand that off to other

This easily could be a photoshop job. where are the time stamps? if Gnosis was really back it would take him less just a few minutes to log in here and tell us. Can anyone else verify he has been in IRC? I have not seen him.
317  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: July 27, 2015, 07:31:19 AM
I have a Monero fund already established, and undergoing the initial capital building process (acquiring Moneros). Once we get enough to begin with (the company already has a capital in 6 figures), we can start accepting investors.

6 figures of XMR or some fiat currency? That would make the company one of the largest XMR holders already I believe! How large do you think the fund has a potential to grow?

There are multiple high profile BTC experts looking at Monero. Not just the ones most commonly discussed in this forum for choosing XMR over DASH

Town Council News

Sphericon has been nominated and voted to the Town Council to replace Paulson and will take part in the Beta Testing phase of the project.  Sphericon has shown great enthusiasm and knowledge in game mechanics will be a great addition to the Town Council during this critical time as we prepare for the launch of the next era of the game.  Congrats!

Thanks! I'm excited to be involved during this crucial period of the game. I've seen the game and so far I'm excited to see rpietila's vision come to fruition in electronic form.  I will be helping to test all the bits of this game and hopefully uncover any bugs that may still be lingering.

Can't wait for the release!

Thank you for getting involved. I have not yet played the game but hope to once it is ready

Bad news.

If you thought that bitcointalk trolls were isolated in this forum, think again. They have recently started in invade http://www.reddit.com/r/monero

at least https://forum.getmonero.org/ seems safe for now and has been more active recently.

Ignore the trolls! Fighting with them only leads to more trolling
