it makes me more productive! i swear, instead of playing games watching videos or other things i generate plots

For anyone who wants to get into mining seriously - quit thinking about SATA ports and USB enclosures and crap and start thinking real hardware.

http://unixsurplus.com/product/sgi-3u-media-server-storage-16-hd-bay-sas-sata-ssd-san-array-35-nas-jbod-good
less than $200, comes with 16 drive sleds and supports SATA disks.
All you need is a external SAS hba, which runs you less than a hundred bucks on ebay.

People can use eSata with an eSata enclosure with multiple bays for cheaper. Most motherboards have eSata already, plus 8 to 12 Sata ports on board.
That disk enclosure is $135, you find me a 16 bay eSATA enclosure for less than $150 and I'll kiss your ass.
Then you find me a eSATA enclosure that you can connect 18 of to a single server. Smiley

Even if you get all that storage going, the time of plotting still would take long. At that rate, I would rather put 10 hdd's in a case, the get another rig plotting also and so fort. Plotting is dependent on cpu thread, memory and the efficiency of the data throughput of the system overall.

This is  where the fun comes in. If there were no plotting , i wonder what will happen to this coin. People can just buy HDD and mine at full speed. Right now , CPU plotting put a nice time gap.

man my first terabyte when i relized how long it was taking..  i was so stressed out looking at the pile of harddrive i had to fill. thats when i turned on every computer in my house and had them all plotting to it and boom like clock work

bottle kneck is CPU plotting not sata ports/ harddrive organization

"- Up to 32TB with 2TB disk drives" what if i wanted to use 4tb hdds
1027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New multipools on: September 08, 2014, 04:20:26 AM
still gotta plot the harddrives first though. my desk is big enough for  16 harddrives.  but very nice thinking

edit for 300~ id rather grab another 10TB and just clutter my desk

Great coin will be holding for the long haul. Is there an IRC channel for this coin? If not there should be.
#Burstcoin

check out http://burstmultipool.com/irc for a web client.

does any one know who the channel op is for there. ive been sitting in that channel since there was 1 person in there and never seen a channel op

well its only like what almost a month old. the network size is pretty incredible. there is lot of harddrive space plotted.
1030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New multipools on: September 08, 2014, 04:00:45 AM

the one i show is 4 port.

For the one u show 4 port, 2 port is sata 1.

Data transfer rate up to 300MB/s (3.0Gbps) per SATA II port.

Data transfer rate up to 133MB/s (1.3Gbps) per SATA port from PATA.

2 SATA II ports (J1 & J2) & 2 SATA ports from PATA (J3 & J4) available.

you have some people mining with usb2.0 for connected harddrives.. thats what 60mbps  so sata 1 should be fine. just takes longer to read your plots

yeah i though so too. If people were to go big mining this , it have to be cost effective. If sata 1 is good enough , i wouldn't want to spend even an extra dollar for something better

yeah im right behind you with ordering some. but ive managed to put harddrives/miners on other computers and free up sata ports for more

cant say if its a scam or not. im not going to buy one but thats how the math adds up for the maintenance cost for hashlets....
1033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New multipools on: September 08, 2014, 03:47:55 AM

Very expensive for sata 2

http://www.ebay.com/itm/32bit-PCI-to-4-port-SATA-II-SATA2-RAID-Silicon-Image-SIL3124-NCQ-Adapter-/161340950258?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2590ab86f2

Although sata 2 is faster , but the question is sata 1 good enough ? 1.5 gb / s is good enough for the operation ? It depend on HDD size , but i think its good enough for a 3 TB HDD since a fully plot 3 TB HDD would require less than 1 gb of reading when mining ? Am i correct ? I am not sure. I remember mining only read around 0.026% of space

2 for $10    http://www.ebay.com/itm/eSATA-II-SATA-II-IDE-3-5-RAID-to-PCI-E-PCI-Express-Converter-Adapter-JMB363-/331208214082?pt=US_Drive_Cables_dapters&hash=item4d1d8c4642

4 for $20  http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Port-SATA-RAID-to-PCI-Express-PCI-E-Card-Adapter-Converter-bootable-/171374466524?pt=US_Drive_Cables_dapters&hash=item27e6b6d5dc

sata 2 is faster but not as expensive
1035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: GAWMiner Hashlet Discussion Thread on: September 08, 2014, 03:25:47 AM
Oh I'm wary, and that's one of the reasons I came to bitcointalk before I made an actual investment. I'm also wary of their entire platform - and how they've decided to position the service, and market themselves, and deal with criticisms in different places on the internet.

Those are interesting machines. Too bad I don't have five grand Smiley Back to chicken and the egg and my whole problem with coin mining in the first place - I don't have enough to invest in anything that may pay for itself, and I do have enough to take a gamble on what will ROI right now. . but then we come to the same answer, where there's technology that's coming out this very second that will break that hope. Thanks though Razerglass Smiley

Insanity that they offer it for half the price.

Sigh, there go all my dreams!

I still have the insane notion I can sift through all the listings on btcjam with variables I define for borrower quality and make less than 25% bad investments into their needs - which would net me an 11% return based on the data I'm seeing. Maybe, maybe, we'll just have to wait and see.

Good thing I don't count on btc for a living.

Yet.

youre very welcome My personal friend had the same exact mindset as you and he was investing all his money.. and it angered me greatly when i looked into and and saw right through the scam. they want you to buy before you know what else it out there.

You know why GAW is pushing hashlets so hard the last ~month?.... its because of these... https://turingstations.com/  "550MH/s – $4,899 ..Power Consumption: 1100-1200 Watt"  when these hit the network 1 mh isnt going to roi in 2 months.

... gaw miners 550MH... $11,000 when from turing you can get it for $4,900.

edit...not to meantion  at 550MH youre paying 8cents each per day... paying them 44$ a day ( for "maintenance"). dont get got friend... at 1200watts IF your KW/h was $.20 (very high)... it would only cost 6 dollers a day to run.

Sent out the first payments from the multipool. They may be a little low as we accidentally forked a coin.

received. do you think you would consider paying out more than once a day?
