what about the plot gpu miner? to fill a 3tb you need 3 days with a i5, this is crazy
I'm working on one. The first attempt was very slow, and not worth releasing. I'm currently rewriting it.

does this look strange or acceptable.. im only 1/3 done filling a TB with the following plot numbers

so you can estimate with a good machine 1tb per day to generate

what merge.exe? sounds like a good tool

these dont overlap do they??

16036893174223139082_1_1800000_1000
16036893174223139082_1800001_3600000_1000
16036893174223139082_3600001_3608000_1000

why does https://bchain.info/BURST/tools/overlap tell me it does?

"  Your results (assuming all plots are completed):
Plots 16036893174223139082_1800001_3600000_1000 and 16036893174223139082_3600001_3608000_1000 overlap (1800000 nonces)

Totals:
1800000 nonces overlap (439 GB)
9008000 nonces total (2199 GB)
9008 disk seeks per Scoop (72 seconds @ 8ms)   "

You need to start from 5400001

16036893174223139082_5400001_3608000_1000

why is that? being the second one is barely at 1950000 if i stopped it now it wouldnt overlap?

Because you need to do the first plot 1800000 plus the second one 3600000 to have the third one 5400001..

and i keep on learning, didnt know you add them up

so just for better clarification no matter what happens while generating the plots or the number rangeyou choose (computer crashing, closing cmd ) and no matter the amount of plot files (as long as none of the plots overlap)  you will mine based on the total size of all of them?
1147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | Update to 1.0.3 before block 6500 on: September 03, 2014, 07:09:11 AM

if i stop my plotter while its generating what will happen and whats the downside? is there a way to know where it stopped so i can start it again

If you use the windows plotter it tells you were it is. And you can start plotting from where it tell you it left off. If you are using the linux plotter... not really.
This is the downside. Other than that, nothing much. The miner will give an error message that it can't read the file, but it actually does.

How do you know it is still reading/using the file when it gives the error message saying it can't?

Is it confirmed that non-completed/stopped plots really are working and able to submit shares...?

yes if pool make sure to put pool's wallet for recipient

Don't run linux in a VM, rather just dual boot, or even run off a usb stick (make sure you make the plots on your main HDD though)

will linux see my ntfs hdd? and write the plots to be able to mine in windows?

so im running vmware i got the plot generator setup i think im ready to go... now where is it going to put my plots and how do i get them onto a drive in windows. i never really used linux
1149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | Update to 1.0.3 before block 6500 on: September 03, 2014, 06:32:21 AM
I just started generating plots that are greater than the number I put for the last nonce range number. ie 4000000 to 4082000.....and my generate plot script shows me generating 4088000.  What is happening???

mine did that too till it had 8mb left and it just kinda froze!

It is not startnrofplots endnrofplots:

4000000 to 4082000

It is startnrofplots nrofplotstogenerate.
So 1 5 means start at nr 1 and generate 5 instead of start from 1 untill 5.

in what language is wrote this

With 10TB, i think its better to use the Pool.

ok but what is the return estimate with the pool?

Rough estimate you can do it divide your total TB by the total in the network, then multiply by 3.6 million coins. I think the current network size is 1.9~2 PB.

For example if I had my 4x 4TB now, it would do (16/2000TB)3.6*10^6=28800 approx. So, about 2 to 3 blocks a day-ish.

About 4~5TB to get a block/day, give or take.

with 6w of consumption  Cheesy

i bet alot will change by time it takes me to plot 10TB in what half a month... >.<

That sucks and is not good for the Burst miner.

The XCloudcoin Cloud HD Hashing multi pool will be released very soon to all XCloudcoin holders and public. This will offer support for XCloudcoin and it's subsequent investors giving us a solid foundation. This is the first step of cloud mining integration with crypto currency and is an important stepping stone in our development. We are choosing BURST to mine on the multi pool. We have looked at the development of the coin and we are happy with the technological development of this coin and the properties to help our investors. XCloud storage will also be integrated into the mining platform. Soon to be released will be the worlds first Cloud HD hashing pool with integrated storage this will be a huge and innovative step for XCloudcoin, we are currently testing our storage performance and capacity of the service at 80 Terabytes we are seeing positive signs with our tests for profitability and efficiency. We are very excited about this development. With this service we aim to give back to investors with an enhanced profit sharing system. Revenue will be distributed from the multi pool to XCloudcoin holders. The pool has already been setup for one of our private investors and you can currently see the wallet amount here http://burst.cryptoport.io/acc/6777939135823731909

If you launched your very successful coin, why are you mining another to pay your investors?

Is this not the concept of multi pool?  Pure PoS Coins mine PoW coins to buy their own coins for the miners.

how much of the cloud storage capacity will be used to mine this coin?

we are still under testing and monitoring performance, we might add a little more so around 150tb to 200 tb .

This is kind of a mix feeling with this. I'd rather have gpu, asic and cpu miners do the multipool.

this means there is going to be a huge diff jump?

right now at difficulty how much could i expect to earn in a pool/day with 10TB or if i go at it solo?

ubuntu plots double the speed, is that still the case if you run it in vmware? inside of windows

Not really. You see a drop in performance, but still a lot faster than the windows plotter

if i stop my plotter while its generating what will happen and whats the downside? is there a way to know where it stopped so i can start it again

All depends if you have enough cores and ram to run it. How efficient the system is in that environment.

i guess my question is my i5 8gb ram plotting in windows 7 seems slow, would i be better off running vmware ubuntu with the same specs?

If i were to stop my generating in middle of plotting, is there a way to know what plot it stopped on? and is there a downside to interrupting it?

Is Pool v1 faster or v2 faster when the plots are ready?
can anybody tell me??

v1 is easier to setup, and pays out faster, but is harder to get a share, you lose more in transaction fees, and your plots will only work on that pool.

v2 is easier to get a share, and you can use your plots at any v2 pool, but is harder to set up and requires you have a coin to do the reward assignment

Hey Dev can you help me with instructions on how to install and run that plot generator that is supposed to be twice as fast for Linux? I'm using Opensuse  Huh can you help me with step by step commands please?
Don't know anything about opensuse, but under linux mint here,
unzip archive
open a terminal
go to that directory
type make
type ./plot
it will show the parameters.

so with 180gb mining the v2 pool i constantly get no valid shares to submit to pool.. been mining for over a hour now... and my ID has not appeared on http://178.62.39.204:8121/shares .... i havnt gotten a clear answer if there is something else i need to do for it to mine in the pool. do i not have enough GB plotted?
I took a peek at your last posts, and see account 16036893174223139082 mentioned. If that is you, you haven't done the reward assignment, and therefore are not on the allowed users list.

oh yes! i forgot to do this with my new ID.. how do i make a public key? {"errorCode":8,"errorDescription":"recipient account does not have public key"}
Recipient needs to be BURST-8NZ9-X6AX-72BK-2KFM2 if that is entered correctly you shouldn't get that message.

where do you get that wallet from?? if i copy numberic # it matches but if i copy  account ID BURST-BWAC-DZV9-Y2DA-FXM5X  why is it different... thats the wallet that shows on the front page

EDIT oh am i putting in the pools wallet? not my own?

go here: http://localhost:8125/rewardassignment.html
bottom form
enter passphrase and BURST-8NZ9-X6AX-72BK-2KFM2

completed, with first share i should come up in the list?

It takes a few confirmations to go into effect. In about 15 minutes you will show up on allowed users list, and it will start accepting your shares

last night on my old computer i plotted 50GB and did the recipient and let it mine all night long and i just looked i never appeared on the accepted list or got any shares accepted  for account 14062819640288676663

edit: both started receiving shares like magically. cheers!!
