301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: And you Thought Cyprus was only Getting Hit? on: March 20, 2013, 02:56:34 AM
..let's try and have a little common sense at least.

Something we can agree on for sure ;-)
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: And you Thought Cyprus was only Getting Hit? on: March 20, 2013, 02:42:50 AM
Amazing.

If they try that here in Australia my money will be withdrawn immediately.  They can get stuffed.

That seems a lot like buying fire insurance if your house burns down.
303  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-03-18 Zero Hedge: Meanwhile In Electronic Currency Land, Or Bitcoin 1 - 0 on: March 18, 2013, 07:38:24 PM
Uh, is that image claiming that the ECB bashed bitcoin and called it a ponzi? Because the report I recall specifically said it wasn't a ponzi.

Last week, the currency collapsed 23 percent due to a technical glitch.
False, price is still the same of before  Roll Eyes

No kidding. That's exactly as disingenuous as it would be to say that the price soared 23% after the technical glitch. It did both, and in less time than anyone could write a serious article, mention both or none or you're a sketch-ball.
305  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: FastCash4Bitcoins - over 275,000 BTC purchased - just 2.99% below spot on: March 18, 2013, 07:49:32 AM
I will be recommending this service.
306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CARPE DIEM on the Cyprus news! on: March 17, 2013, 08:15:25 PM
i hate this face

Everyone is just going to want to kick that guy in the teeth, it isn't good advertising imo.

Also, being "unaffected" isn't really anyone's goal. My dead great grandmother was not affected by the Cyprus robbery either.
307  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: March 17, 2013, 09:05:55 AM
Is there something wrong with referral payouts, or is it just a coincidence and my large number of referred players are all deciding to not play at the same time?

Is your amount not updating at all or not as much as you would expect? I can give more detailed information about your player's activity via PM or email admin@sealswithclubs.eu.
308  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Block #226035 is 617kB on: March 17, 2013, 02:07:05 AM
Are we still vulnerable to a network split?  I mean, surely a very similar block to the one that caused all the problems will pop up again shortly...

A block like the one that caused the fork will now just be ignored because the power decided to move to 0.7.
309  Economy / Economics / Re: European Union is robbing its citizens' bank accounts. 9.9% to be confiscated. on: March 17, 2013, 12:02:53 AM
No sign of something like this in Hungary

I have no idea about Cyprus or Hungary, but in general I would think that "no warning" is exactly what one would experience right before confiscation.

Also, new in the new client is newbie filtering. It blocks chat from (most) players with less than 500 krill.
Lot of people are only playing tournaments, so krill may not be the best way to filter. (Or you could give krill for tournament buy-ins too)

Krill for tournaments may happen. We will find some way to make tourney only players non-noob eventually.

For now I can manually "non-noobify" players so if you are a tourney regular just PM me or email admin@sealswithlcubs.eu. Also players who changed their color over a week ago are automatically "non-noobified" for a technical reason.

Love the site, awesome web/pc/andriod support. Very cool.  Has a similar feel to stars, I'm sure it will only get better.

Things I would like to see:

Check box for fold was right under the fold button, so if I miss it i don't have to move mouse.

Re-sizable Main lobby

LiteCoin tables!

Also just wondering, what is the max number of people you have had on the site. It seems to be growing nicely, and been in the 300s last few days I have been on.

Thanks for making this possible. Good luck!

We'll consider check box placement.

The main lobby is resizable on the PC client, can you not resize?

Bitcoin forever, sorry ;-)

We hit 380 logins on Wednesday.

Thanks for playing.
312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reducing the chance of a 51% attack on: March 16, 2013, 03:24:53 AM
You're right.

That sucks.

So we pretty much just have to wait it out and hope the coins get spread out evenly enough?
Well, coin distribution is a different story.  I'm kind of ambivalent on that "problem".  I think my basic assumption there is that if they hoard it, they keep the value of mine high, and if they dump it, then I can buy a lot on the dips.  They can't really hide it because the ledger is public.  So it doesn't worry me much.

Hashing power is what the 51% attack is all about, and anyone can help with that by buying a little hardware and setting up a miner to join a pool, and be ready to switch to a different pool if needed.

That makes me curious about how one would be able to tell if one was contributing hashing power to an attacker.  I think it might be impossible because the software would have to be altered to use a different set of transactions than the network is broadcasting.

So cheer up!

I phrased it that way because I figure if we hit 21 million without a 51% then we're safe right? By that time, if we're safe, the coin will be distributed somewhat vaguely evenly (at least, nobody has more than half).

No. As long as anyone is using Bitcoin there will be new blocks containing transactions and a 51% attack is possible. The only thing that happens near 21 million coins mined is that miners get only fees instead of fees and subsidy.

Gotcha. Guess I'm still solidifying my understanding of this thing. In that case, is it possible for a benevolent soul to sit on 50% of the hash power?

Presumably benevolent souls sit on 100% of the power right now, at least we don't have reason to think otherwise, but we wouldn't necessarily know. The problem with knowing who controls an immense amount of power is that they'll be defeated with drugs and a $5 wrench.

Also, it wouldn't help in the slightest for the current power to be shuffled around. The only thing that helps is more power.

freemoney can add unicode support to the client? in the browser, I can  write in Russian, but the client is not  Sad

That is on our todo list, but not near the top so I don't have a guess as to when. Sorry.

I'm requesting the 100 free chips
Deucejuice is Seal with Clubs login

thanks hope it is still available.

No, that is no longer available.

i wish the staking discussion would take place somewhere other than lobby chat on Seals. the lobby chat used to be entertaining, educational, full of shit talking and fun.

now, all i see in chat is:

bet: redemption code z489fj (49%): adlkfj
player1: add trusted player2
player1: add untrusted chumlee420

please make a chat room on sealsdeals and dont ruin the chat room on Seals. (or move it to 2p2 or bitcointalk or anywhere other than Seals lobby chat)

The plan is to have those statements preceded by a special character for easy filtering. The new client will be able to check for that char and make them not show to people who don't want to see them.

Also, new in the new client is newbie filtering. It blocks chat from (most) players with less than 500 krill.

Also, the regular ignore player feature works as it should in the new client, no "*****" anymore.

The site is down now.
316  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: March 15, 2013, 03:03:24 PM
Interesting, might give it a try again. The main reason why i stopped playing on Sealswithclubs is that it gave me a lot of browser time outs, often in the middle of a hand, which sucked enormously sometimes as i often played on the higher tables

Let us know how it works for you. It has been very stable except for some players using Win 8 and we're working on that.
317  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-03-14 Bitcoin tipper on Twitter on: March 15, 2013, 06:44:47 AM
Is it legal for Obama to accept this anonymous donation?

I think it's illegal for him to accept anonymous campaign donations - or any money that might be construed as such.

But since he's unlikely to ever run for anything again, it's probably OK.

I think I'll twit some BTC to Neil deGrasse Tyson...

So he would be required by law to make a Bitcoin transaction returning them? Interesting for sure, lol.
318  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [SOFT-FORK] Bitcoin fork "No Forced TX Fee" v0.7.2 avaiable on: March 15, 2013, 06:05:13 AM
I'm confused by this thread. I thought the fee was always voluntary anyway... ?

Nope, it is not voluntary if the mainline client's algorithm decides so.
I've no issue with enforced fees, but using the standard windows client, doing some testing with bitcoin, have paid more than 5 times the transaction value in fees - somewhat disproportionate - makes it just like a bank Wink

You've tested a bank's open source software and chosen to attach a fee that ended up going to a peer? Interesting for sure ;-)

Our PC client is now available. It is beta, we recommend that you play freerolls at first to make sure it is stable on your system.

There will be new features added frequently. Check for them here:
