521  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: April 14, 2015, 11:55:39 PM

In your opinion what is an acceptable amount of HW error on an S3 or S3+?
I understand there are many variables, so I think it is fair to also ask people to include the time, so .001 in 24 hours is fine, but would .01 in 24 hours also be fine if it added the same amount of errors every 24 hours?

What is your acceptable amount of HW errors in what time?

Edit:
And in searching I see comparisons between discard rate versus accepted.
What do you run in that department?
522  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF3301 Specifications Revealed [Updated 14/4/15] on: April 14, 2015, 11:15:07 PM
They stated April for functioning miners right?
Did I misunderstand?

I hope they haven't been mining with full blown hardware in a 250,000 square foot facility for the past two weeks and are telling us they have chips ready for others ala bitstain style

I was discussing this with a good guy the other day. It was obvious to both of us our equipment was mined with for a considerable time. He has new S5s, with new being the chosen word, but not the actual product. I read the BS about the sand coming from an open window or windows in the test area, but I also have seen more than enough pictures and heard from so many others about the dirt inside their equipment. My bud asked me if I wouldn't do the same thing. I said no, I would never be able to sleep at night. I would sell them as used for X amount of days. I believe people would still buy them at the same price. Look at how many people are still buying them. You can be honest, make the same amount of money or more, and feel great about your choices. Besides, I seriously doubt they need to sell the miners with the amounts they have already made from mining.

Sfards, take a lesson from what has been done to this community and don't perform unnecessary testing with the miners. I hope you have a product close to shipping. I want to support another company who has class. I hope the photo on the website is not a start of bad things to come. That single act does not mean as much in my opinion if you mirror the SPtech actions and reputation, but if there are a trail of tears behind it, then it speaks volumes. Only time will tell.

Saying all of that, when do you *think* we will see a functioning product, and will you hold true to the April date or will it be longer?
I think those are fair questions you could answer without giving too much away.

Are you planning batches?
IS there a way to be on some form of list for orders when they begin to ship?
If you have review units available I will purchase one from you, or from one of the reviewers.
I am a sucker for toys, and with the SPtech recommendation for this company I am ready to throw some cash at them.

524  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S4 Quieter fans? on: April 13, 2015, 03:55:25 AM
I was told about these fans
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181027
by Dogie, apparently the High static is a big thing to worry about so I purchased two for a different miner I have in hand right now a Thunder X3.

I picked up a few of those a couple of months ago based on dogie's recommendation.
They absolutely will NOT work to properly cool an S4 in average summer temps across the US.
If it is only one S4, and heavily underclocked (how are you changing the voltage? just curious) and you have it in a room with the AC then sure, they work. Otherwise those fans are for S3, S5, etc, not S4, they are too weak.

525  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: help! paid for 5 miners through minerslab on: April 13, 2015, 03:51:34 AM
I paid for 5 miners through minerslab and didn't get anything. I spent more than 11,500 dollars through Bitcoin on this, is there any way you know that i can get my money back?  Cry Cry Cry

http://www.minerslab.com/
You know if they have a public wallet and you have the TX id, you could prove it was sent and try to talk to a lawyer about it.

Post up the details please.
Let us see the address belonging to them and where the coinage goes.

If you really want to know, put up the iNfO, and let the crowd go troll.
526  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newest Diff thread April 5 to April 18th on: April 13, 2015, 03:45:08 AM
The people renting the hash believing in the coin are the ones who get screwed.
Just like paycoin.

Who makes the most?
The current Asic mfg with product shipping, and the "devs" of the coin.

What would be great is to spot one of those scamcoins coming and pull a double reverse on the pump n dump...

Now that would be a movie!

BTC miners don't mind as long as the difficulty drops, and then the people who bag hold don't start yelling until a month or more down the road.
527  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newest Diff thread April 5 to April 18th on: April 12, 2015, 02:48:02 PM

We wouldn't benefit doing block withholding in any way.

But evil miners could do that with modified mining software. Every pool is prone to this kind of attack, not only rentals.

If there was a (simple) way to detect such activity of miners, we would already have it implemented. We believe that is the negative issue of current pooled mining concept.

Its weird how people are paying 20% over BTC right now at Nicehash just to mine BTC directly.

Currently the price is 0.012300 Th/BTC/Day. And they aren't mining an altcoin but BTC itself.

I had my price set at .0136 because I was only interested in renting if it was a large payout, and I watched it yesterday and had the same thoughts as many others wondering what the current coin that was getting so much attention. I mine at Kano.is and like the good payouts when blocks hit, but I could not resist lowering my price and jumping in at westhash.
MY S4s and S3s need tweaking. I put the nicehash s3 binary on a couple of S3s and they worked, even rolling back ok, but the S4s I didn't and tried the #xnsub, no rollover, so I just left the ones which worked and will go back and tweak the others later, but overall, this must have some impact on difficulty, albeit small, but I certainly know Phil is right on with the ability to affect the network with 1 bitcoin at the right time of the day. Imagine a group renting all of the available hash from every mining site, and not for an attack, but how much could it impact difficulty? Say 20 guys put down 5 coins each at the different mining sites. average the pricing across all sites, manage the times, the right time and pointed towards any sha256 coin with a break even sell price.
What is the realistic effect on Bitcoin difficulty?
Use 30 guys with 10 coins each, or 5 guys with 30 coins, etc.

Good stuff to get the mind moving this morning Phil, thanks for the reply bud, and I hope you are having a good morning.

Great Info from all ty. I enjoy reading everyone's thoughts, and the rental refresher!

Happy to see people happy Smiley!!!
529  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2100 TH] CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: April 09, 2015, 12:11:20 AM
I know it gets people to thinking when the blocks get long, but it will slam home and the payouts will start rolling in.
Or not
But either way I am adding hash not moving it away.
And I think this to be the new and improved payout gateway!

I want to apologize in advance to Kano and my fellow pool mates as this is terribly off topic but to me on topic in many ways.
If you want it deleted, etc feel free or tell me and I will no troubles, but I was pressed in my mind to share this wall of blab today so please skip over unless you simply enjoy reading because it is not words of wisdom to me but it is my thought process of the moment I am for some reason sharing on the interwebs with poolmates. So...

I am cleaning miners one at a time and will have them all moved to their new home.
I have a 3M anti static mat and I ground myself, pull the cover, disassemble as much as possible and start carefully vacuuming.
Then I finish off with a bit of low pressure, dry, clean air.

Two things are on my mind as I go through this my second night now...
BITMAIN will announce the S4+ upgrade this week using the S5 boards I bet. Complete new unit, new PSU and all. I don't want to buy, bad mojo me thinks, but I still contemplate the money I lose by not doing so. I am not saying anything against BITMAIN. I want to make that clear, this is simply my own opinion here in Kano's worlds of fun and I do not mean for BITMAIN to take the stage, but it is a part of my reason, experience and opinion. Early adoption and all that makes a huge difference when considering exponential growth, but I think it smarter to hold out for the better product or simply buy the coin and wait for the better product which is what I shall do, this five minutes anyway Smiley I HODL what I've got in the face of the status quo! and again my recent experiences.

What a real pain it is to clean miners. I never take my DVD Player apart and clean it, or my TV, stereo, but I do my XBAWKS, and PC. Cleaning my SP20s I enjoy. I actually sit there thinking about the mining time I am losing but I take her apart to the empty can. I'm not crying over the money, it is the process of the mining I enjoy, and again wash and repeat the vacuum. I consider myself lucky to have these SP20s, and had I known then what I know now would have bought many, many more - much sooner and I hope I get the equivalent opportunity again. I appreciate the people who have sold them to me lately, sincerely appreciated. Not for the coin they make, but I admire the craftsmanship. Not that I don't enjoy the coin, that is part of the process after all.

Weird and strange guy my children must think I am so it must be true Tongue but as I was cleaning one last night my oldest daughter (now 17) and I were discussing my most recent GF and she asked if I was happy. I answered completely honestly for the first time in a good while that yes, I am very happy. Sitting there with the SP20 in pieces, helping her with pre-calc, thinking of the mining time I was losing, debating buying the reworked S4 and deciding no, I am going to buy coin and wait, but no stress from my personal life at all. Zip, zero - none. That is fan-freakin-tastic, and a first I think. Not that I haven't been happy with some of the women I have been with, because I have, but there is always some drama, some stress, something. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the company I have from time to time, but no relationship err no responsibility to a "better half" is very refreshing. That word doesn't do it justice, I am more alive than ever.

I think everyone should spend some time out of a relationship, and I mean serious time. I have my two daughters with me full time, always have, so it isn't like I am not responsible but there is a certain freedom from not being in an adult relationship with a woman that has made me feel more in control of my destiny than ever. If you are a late teen or early twenties person and not in a relationship, stick it out. Society taught me to get a good job, get married, have kids and there you go. It is backwards to me from logical thinking. I think live your life while you can, wait until you are at least 30 or even longer and NEVER stay in a relationship where you are unhappy. You never know when you may wake up and realize you aren't happy and it would be better to have had a long term piece of life before you have to settle down. Not that you cannot be happy in a relationship, and I certainly believe some people are. I also know people who stay together for their kids, or they really are so used to the routine they would rather go home to someone they hate than change things up. I have been married twice and a string of girlfriends since my 2nd Divorce in 2007, but I only let one woman live with me since then and that lasted about 6 weeks after she moved in. Since then no way, and my last GF I broke up with right after this past Christmas. She is a great woman and will find the right guy but it is not me. That was about the time I found mining. Coincidence? Hmmmm. Don't get me wrong, I think marriage and relationships are great things, but I don't think we teach our kids enough about that part of life. Society pushes everyone to get married in many ways, peer pressure being the biggest. We are teaching our kids Marriage is a requirement but at the same time nothing is wrong with divorce and in turn I think pushing people to the point of marriage not being what it truly should be, something you should enjoy the same way you love your children, you just do.

The best thing you will ever do is make a child if you do so. Never forget that you bring them in this world, they are your most important responsibility. You either do something or you don't, when it comes to kids, you must do, there is not a don't. Raise them to take on the world but protect them at the same time.
You don't have to get married or have kids. It is OK and probably a great thing to wait. All of the stuff about carrying on the family name, blah blah blah doesn't matter. It is your life, get married and have kids when you are ready, after you experience more of your life.

If you do not have kids then do whatever the hell you want. Why be Mr. or Mrs. responsible and work 60 - 70 hour weeks, or be in a relationship where you aren't happy? F that. Go do what you like! Say those thoughts in your head and tell that person who is screwing over your friend what you want. Save some money for later in life but don't be afraid to go out. Go do the crazy things you want and if someone doesn't approve they aren't you. I'm not saying you can't have fun with kids but you should be much more responsible with your money, time, and plans for the future. Otherwise go to the place you haven't been. Go to Australia and skydive, or Florida and bum on the beach for a few months. Or, if work is your thing, then do it to your heat's content. Live in the building if you want. Have a shower installed and hire a cook. Make it all happen without anything else clouding your judgement.

Most importantly tell everyone the truth. People say they want honesty, but it is hard for most people to understand it most of the time. Most people lie their ass off everyday. If you start telling the truth about everything you feel like you are on top of everything and you can do so without being an obnoxious asshole -  give it a try. At first it is difficult... Q: "Does my ass look fat in these jeans?" A: " You know I really love the black dress baby you look so Sexy in it! Will you wear it for me tonight?"
Yes it avoids the question and you still may get in a situation of sorts but you also told the truth and if she pushes she will get the rest, but I know what my ass looks like and so does she. Don't ask obvious questions unless you want to hear the obvious answer, but you can still be polite... without lying.

Are you happy with your job, relationship, current mining setup, or whatever company you plan to make your next purchase with? Don't settle for convenience, get what you want or work and fight until you get something different if that is what you want. Don't fret over missed opportunities unless you actually had or have proof you are indeed missing one now. Just like luck the past is done. There is nothing wrong with waiting and having goals, or in the same vein jumping right in to something you believe in, but there is a ton of things wrong with making choices you already have a bad feeling or experience about and everything wrong with living life unhappy.

Great thread, I have to get in sooner!
531  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: April 06, 2015, 12:20:40 PM
Sorry friends , if bitmain bitstain shitstain .. (whatever you like) still dont fix that scam firmware, we have a right to sing that song loudly.

I skipped right over that particular reply. I fear he doesn't own any S4s as he had to ask if what we are saying is true, so lack of product knowledge, hasn't read the thread, hasn't been around for a few months, and looking to buy 20 of them. I literally feel bad for the kid if he gets those 20.

I said it in my walls of text, but to reiterate I know there are plenty of people who do not recognize these problems. There are plenty of people who also sold there problems and / or they were bought back by BITSTAIN.

I also know for a fact it doesn't take more than a few months to provide adequate customer service and lay out a specific plan to address issues. I started with a group of 8 people over 20 years ago. Now we are over 100 and leaders in our field in customer service among other areas. It isn't difficult. IT is a mindset and the people calling the shots set that example while providing the tools with which to do it.

When you work in a field where repeat business is the only true model you see these things in the proper light. As you mature you realize no matter what business you are in the people who voice legitimate concerns are the voice of many. There are many others who simply walk away and decide not to say anything, they buy from someone else and give them a chance.

SPTech do not have some magic technology (albeit the April Fool's was great haha), they have a history and habit of answering customers with facts and helping them correct any issue quickly. They lay things out and answer e-mails. They do basic things which make customers happy. It is not some huge secret. It is simply the correct way to treat people in this environment. You may even lose some money, sometimes a huge amount of money, but the business model provides the tools to bring those customers back again, and again, and again.

Look beyond what you can make today, and think about the foundation you may put in place by being customer service and technical service driven. The Sales will come.
And it is not too late, there are always ways to improve, but to do so you must actually produce something which addresses the issues. A repeated message by SHITSTAIN saying the engineers are looking into it doesn't work so well after enough time has passed.

One very important rule of proper customer service is actually the easiest to follow even though it can be a challenge at times, and a couple of others which helped me be great at what I do.
Return every single call, e-mail, or message before the end of the day, every single day.
Be polite and respect the other person may have been through hell that day working with your product.
Outline a plan to correct their issue(s) and provide them with constant updates on the issues.

Even if you slip on dates, have problems, make mistakes, and every other thing that can happen happens, as long as you do those basic things people see you for what you have become through those actions.

Some may not like to hear it, but the customer's perception is reality in the business world. Scammers are caught and dealt with in various ways and they are everywhere, but that is another subject AND not exclusive to BITCOIN at all. It has been prolific, but happens everyday to all of us.

Mainly communicate and have the right intentions. It is simple.
Be polite

532  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: April 06, 2015, 12:06:24 PM
Yoshi gave me this spill about even though this particular unit was purchased through Amazon (Actually Zoomhash) and not directly through S***STAIN he would make sure everything was handled and take care of the warranty issues. I made another mistake of believing him as I waited days for information from him while the S4 which shipped from the S***STAIN factory directly to me sat not running.

I am sorry to hear about your experience.  But I wanted to jump in and say I have had Yoshi's help a few times.  He's always treated me great, and so has his support team.   I have met him at a conference and he was very down to earth and spent a lot of time he didn't have to talking specs about at the S3 at the time which was brand new.

I personally have a positive opinion.

That is great man, I am glad he is helping people. I have no doubt there is some resemblance to customer service at times.
I hope he pushes things in the right direction. The community needs service driven companies who are For Profit. That is Capitalism to me. It can be a great thing when you have a mindset to help your customers long term.
I hope to hear the same from many future customers and existing ones.
533  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: April 06, 2015, 03:17:56 AM
It is easy to make the cables to go from a DPS2000bb to the boards with ring terminals or the PCIe connectors.

If you aren't handy with crimping or soldering, or simply do not want to fight more of the headaches I would suggest contacting sidehack and let him know what you need.

If you need help identifying anything I am happy to do so and will tell sidehack what is going on and give him the details of the situation.

It is not hard to make the correct cables with 12 gauge wire. I would revisit my saved information before telling you to use any smaller wire, but SHITSTAIN use smaller. I do not remember the size off the top of my head, but do have it and am happy to look it up.

Keep this in mind: the main reason I did not want to accept the offer from SHITSTAIN regarding them sending me a 2000bb power supply to use as a stock replacement is it is not right and makes it horribly difficult to sell. Most people do not want to buy a miner with a modified component which is supposed to have an internal power supply. The cabling would have looked different, and I paid a lot of money to have a miner which was down more than it was ever up. Not to mention whatever liability issues you could run into if you modified something and then someone hurt themselves. And again mentioning the fact they KNEW and KNOW today they sold us a crap power supply, every unit has a board pulling too much voltage, and isn't clocked correctly when you do try to underclock, it still pulls the same, along with the other firmware issue. The unit never ran more than 9 days without a PSU failure. It was delivered from the SHITSTAIN factory in China around 01-01-15 and I was on the phone with them approximately a week later. Wash, repeat again after it took them a week to get me another power supply. Wash repeat again, same. I even sent them the entire S4 while explaining the issue was the hash board pulling too much voltage and I believed there may have also been an intermittent connection issue with one of the cables from the PSU. Wash Repeat again, but this time I was done giving them a chance. If anyone would like to know the actual timeline I have it all saved, with e-mails and tracking numbers, but I think you get the gist of my experience. Unfortunately I can change the PSU with my eyes closed.

I do think it important to point out that while Yoshi hides behind the BITMAIN Warranty Account posting on this board and spouting his usual rhetoric he does not deny these issues. He knows these things are true. He may throw out some random comment in an attempt to at least say something or put the scent on another item, but these issues have been clearly identified by many, many people over the past few months. The board issue where the voltage is not controlled correctly is way back in this thread, but again, clearly pointed out and outlined with all the data points anyone needs to confirm the problem. The power supply issue was admitted in the open, but the "batch 2" were not better.

They thought using the ring terminals was the big "fix", but their lack of internal communication or complete unwillingness to spend money on a proper fix for the overall issue is the core problem. Ring terminals are a better connector in this case, but it is not a fix. As you speak with him watch your six, document everything, and keep one hand on your wallet and the other on yourself.

Do not be surprised if he doesn't respond at all, or initially he responds with an e-mail which sounds great, but nothing substantial ever happens. Be prepared to take care of your own issues, but I hope with Prelude's recent posts they seriously take a look at this situation. The technical support personnel are much more professional and capable people. Use them to discuss the details of your issue. I made the mistake of contacting him when I was told to do so from a SHITSTAIN employee. If I'd known what I do now I would have stayed with the support guys. Yoshi gave me this spill about even though this particular unit was purchased through Amazon (Actually Zoomhash) and not directly through SHITSTAIN he would make sure everything was handled and take care of the warranty issues. I made another mistake of believing him as I waited days for information from him while the S4 which shipped from the SHITSTAIN factory directly to me sat not running.

I understand there may be agreements with distributors they receive a larger discount or other incentives to handle their own warranty claims and even support in many cases, but in hindsight find it extremely unusual for someone to act like they are doing me a favor to support this product for 90 days when it isn't even like Zoomhash could have done anything to the unit, they never saw it. AND if he had told me to contact Zoomhash instead of playing the "we will take care of it for you" game, I would have probably received an appropriate response from Zoomhash, but we do not know, because I was never told to do so, he said he would handle it.

I was always polite and professional in every conversation and e-mail, but the simple fact is Yoshi talks a lot of shit, lies to you, and then expects you to treat him like he is something special. You are nothing without customer service. He tries to lay the blame on purchasing from a 3rd party. Why did he tell me he would take care of it then? He knew who I'd purchased it from THEN. I directly e-mailed him the exact same information I had sent customer support showing my detailed invoice and shipping information.

It was after the fact that he realized, as he realizes today that I know enough to catch him in his lies, point out the defects in design, and the cheaply built components SHITSTAIN used in the S4. Then he decides to use his magic purchased from a 3rd party line, but it doesn't hold water to anyone with half a brain who understands the items being pointed out. It doesn't matter who you buy it from if it ships straight to you and has defects in design. It isn't as though Zoomhash ordered a different model and sold me something different, it is the same problems many, many, MANY others are realizing they have experienced or are experiencing now. He doesn't respond directly regarding any of the serious points with anything except to say they will look into it while he continued to ship more crappy product from China AND keep shipping replacement power supplies. But there is no real engineer looking into anything. Their "Engineers" are looking at next gen crap. If they wanted to correct this, it could have been done months ago.

He does buy people off. I have seen many people with the exact same complaints I have raised who go for days or weeks complaining saying the EXACT same things as I, but then one day it is they spoke with Yoshi and everything has been worked out.
Do you think he corrected the issues we all faced or face today with the S4? Of course not, he bought them off with more product, cloud hash, coupons and other items. One at a time, Garza style.

Back to the problems others are experiencing today:
I made my own cables and used sidehacks breakout board. Other than the aforementioned issues the unit runs correctly using that power supply and breakout board.
For the Euro users I am pretty sure sidehack ships there, but there is also Jabber's board to fit this same power supply. Him being in France might save you some shipping. I have not used his 2000bb board, but his IBM 2880 power supply breakout board runs great.

I will not sell the S4 this way though. Even though I know sidehack's boards and my cables work perfectly, you do have a liability concern in my opinion.
If it is a 'buddy' who I know understands what they are looking at / getting into I would probably ship it setup using a server power supply.

But again, I am happy to help anyone with issues.
The SD card vibrates loose quite a bit. Sometimes all it takes is to eject it and reinsert and it will boot.
I bought an extra one and copied the existing one.

For fans it depends on the clock speeds you are running. An overclocker would want to (at a minimum) match the S4 original fan specifications and I have them in a folder somewhere which I can digup. There have been many posts regarding Fan alternatives, but keep in mind the cable lengths. Fans never have cables as long as the ones SHITSTAIN designed in the fans on the opposite end from the controller card aka Beagleboneblack. So, you will need to purchase extensions, or splice some on.
You can get away with a more quiet fan if you underclock.

...but trying to underclock using the current firmware does not save you much in power usage since they removed the voltage functionality. Lowering the frequency does lower your power use, albeit slightly, but the issue is if you cannot set the right voltage you may as well not underclock. You aren't saving much money regarding power usage AND you risk causing other issues.

You could run the older firmware which does have voltage adjustment, or you could talk to one of the few people who have created firmware themselves. It sounds like Prelude has come up with some firmware and he may be willing to share if we help him recover some of his investment. It seems he asked for anyone else to help when he started to find a coder and have the changes made he needed. I follow many of his posts when I can be here and missed where he asked for other people to chip in, but I told him I would definitely do so. I imagine if he has enough people to help him recover some of his cost he would share with the community at large. Prelude has always seemed to be fair and helpful.

There is also a post from a couple months ago where a guy made S4 firmware for lowering the fan speeds. There were many people using it and I remember reading nothing but good things from his changes. He even sent the code to SHITSTAIN and there were comments about them incorporating some of the same functionality but to my knowledge it never happened because the next firmware release was the one we have now. This one does help provide a more stable hashrate, but of course as I've mentioned and others, it screws the pooch on voltage adjustment. They did the same stinking thing to the S3s. (The S3 firmware has been crappy, buggy and has gotten worse since the 10-24-14 release with the broken reset button, but that is another thread) This shows their consistent screwing customers and limiting choices.

If you decided to use older SHITSTAIN firmware for your S4 please keep in mind there was an issue where the difficulty had to be manually set on your pool side at 2048 (going from memory on that number, I can look it up if needed for anyone.) If you don't do this you have all sorts of other fun, which was crap hashrate, and I am not talking about a little difference, I am talking several hundred GH in many scenarios. Going from memory I remember seeing 1.6 - 1.7 TH.
This particular issue limited people to being able to mine on specific pools. Vardiff didn't work correctly. IT was messy.

PM me if anyone wants any help with any part of what I have said. I saved everything and can backup each assertion or piece of information with confirmed items.

Good luck to the folks dealing with failures today. Try to keep the stress from getting to you, it isn't worth it and let me know if I can help any of you be it power supply, fan, firmware, etc.

My experiences with https://btcpool.exchange so far have been great. My withdrawals have been under 10 mill, and are processed immediately. They say "waiting for admin approval", but they go right out.

I sincerely enjoy the site layout. I think some of the other exchanges could take some lessons from the navigation as to me it flows nicely and the next choice is close to my way of using an exchange.

While I am not on anyone's "rich list" I enjoy the hell out of playing around with all three coins and an MMX 'market' is needed.

Thanks for the site btcpool exchange
and Spots, you and your guys keep doing what you do man, good stuff.

ensure that your miners are submitting stale shares.
Yes, bfgminer, for example, has the option "--submit-stale".
The standard firmware on Ants for example discards them... Even though they may be valid solutions for a block.
Why does "The standard firmware on Ants for example discards" stale shares?
Um, because Bitmain's fork of cgminer is terrible.  That's why kano and ck wrote their own binaries for a bunch of different Antminer models.

Do you or anyone know the "core devs" at BITMAIN? The people who handle the pool code and firmware? It would be interesting to hear their opinions on their implementation(s) and understand how many of them there are. I would assume BITMAIN have deep pockets and from there assume they would have cutting edge developers working on pool software full time. Especially since they mine with our products for a long time prior to shipping. Hell even when you receive a miner from their repair shop they have set it back to mine at their pools.

I would always stay away from a mining company's pool. Unless they hired CK and Kano, then I might follow them for the simple transparency they seem to bring to the table. I know transparency is a buzz word in our community, but I like the fact they explain things on a different level and pay attention to the community. If I screwup they tell me, and if I do well they tell me, but mainly it is the fact they communicate well, so the "telling me" part I like. Sorry Kano and CK if I bug you too much Smiley

That is expected of a pool operator though isn't it? "Transparency" in the forms of operations and communication.

I recommend slush, they're the first mining pool ever, still running today.
They have a 2% fee, but they're pretty stable. And low variance too because they have a pretty big market share. (5%)
I don't If you want to pay a fee than use btcguild and earn namecoin in the process as well.
Plus they have more hashrate. Slush needs to either start the merge mining back up or drop his fee.
Personally I think 2% is greedy. especially if they also take the transaction fee.

I think btcguild is ran by a good pool operator, but the Namecoin I made is still sitting in my offline storage because it was so insignificant.
Can you actually still register a name and use it with NMC? Do most just dump it?

Ofcourse I since moved most hash to kano.is and call it 'luck', but my payouts are much higher. I was with the guild for a couple of months, and now Kano for a couple. So not a long term comparison, but I'll say it is a great data point for me.

One thing I never understood is what the groups are accomplishing at the Guild. Or "teams", I should say. Although I joined one to look at stats.

My 10K started staking nicely today after adding more. I must have been pretty close!
Thanks for the responses, and I love these coins. I think Spots has a good head on his shoulders.

FOR S4 PSU ISSUES:

If you own Antminer S4 with expired warranty/non-qualifying unit and experiencing the dead S4 PSU with the following LED ERROR STATUS, we may be able to provide the service for  you

Please include the $25 USD Money Order per returning S4 PSU with a PRINTED RETURN ADDRESS.  This DOES NOT GUARANTEE the RESTORED PSU, however, highly likely we can send you the replacement PSU.

If the PSU is damaged to the point that it will not power on any ERROR LED, this service will not work for you.

MONEY ORDER PAYABLE TO: "BITMAIN"

Bitmain Warranty
3700 Quebec Street
Unit 100-239
Denver, Colorado 80207

Tel; 844-248-6246

Applies to the non-working PSU showing these LED conditions

One of my S4 died today and won't power back on.

I'm taking it apart tomorrow to see what is going on but assume the PSU fried...

It is past the 90 day warranty barely, so what are my options?

So those of us who have a PSU that doesn't show any error lights are just out of luck?

I'm sorry, but spending as much as I did on my S4s and having them die this quickly with no real recourse to fix them is quite sad...

I'll be buying only Spondoolies hardware from now on, only warranting something for 90 days is horrible!

This is their "for profit" model.
They sell crap and then tell you to F OFF.

I will help you. PM me with details. I have sources for parts.

@sloopy,

Next time, please purchase hardware directly from the manufacture.

BITMAIN is not responsible for customers purchasing the used miner from a third party.  (Our techs may be able to assist you to guide you to resolve some technical difficulties you may be experiencing, however, if the part is broken/dead/damaged, parts will not be given out for free.

For a full service, please ONLY purchase Antminer Product directly from http://www.bitmaintech.com

Thank you

Sorry Yoshi, nice try.
*IF* someone purchases your product through Amazon and they ask you about it and are up front with you with every single piece of documentation AND YOU decide then that it is a "third party" but that YOU will help them then you keep your word.
I worked with MANY people at your place who TRIED to help but COULDNT because of your design FLAWS. You lack of intelligent replies no longer leaves me in awe, it is well known.

*IF* you wanted me to go back to ZoomHash through Amazon you should have said so at the start you idiot. You said you would help AND miserably failed, as both a liar and a "for profit" business. BITSTAIN has now turned to SHITSTAIN.
You are only saying so now because it is all you can think of to defend yourself.

FIX the problem. My miner shipped to ME from the factory in CHINA.

YOU have just proven the point. You are a POS, and one day I will see you at a conference and light you up.
You and Josh Garza have many things in common, the only major difference is he has already been caught, and you haven't.

*IF* you want me to start posting every single piece of documentation I have keep running your mouth. It is not nice to piss off, pissed off customers more with your sideways insults.

I bought new in the box S4 miners shipped from the SHITSTAIN Factory to my door through YOUR distributor.
You are right about one thing, *IF* I ever bought another piece of shit product it would be through your crappy factory.
How much child labor are you using there?
How good are your people's wages who work in that factory?
Maybe some real US media should check out the place where these GREAT Roll Eyes products are made.

Keep messing with me and diverting from the true issues, which are you put out products with HUGE issues and run to the next one without providing proper customer service.

BITMAIN is a FOR-PROFIT Company!

But the point is, the username BitmainWarranty will catch the slack if your request or communications via China goes no where or cultural differences causing misunderstanding in communications.

Issues we hear from the international community be addressed but we are not the fix-all-group.  Some we may not be able to make you happy...

Currently servicing in English, Spanish, Serbian, Russian, Ukraine and  Filipino languages. (Other than English, availability time varies during the day but these languages are supported natively via support@bitmain.zendesk.com.)

Nothing wrong with being for profit, but if a company continually shits on their customers for short term profits, they will be long term fucked. It catches up to any company. BITMAIN used to be the king of ASIC manufactures, what happened? That crown firmly sits on Spondoolies head now. It's not impossible to reclaim it from them, and I hope BITMAIN will try to. Competition is needed and healthy. If Spondoolies comes out with hardware priced similarly to BITMAIN next gen, BITMAIN will be in for a world of pain just because of the reputation SP has built for themselves by being honest with their customers and supporting their products. When they say something, they follow through. On the other hand, we have BITMAIN lying to customers and removing capabilities from their miners to protect a poor choice in PSUs. Hell, BITMAIN promised all batch 1 S4 owners who had a PSU die a 10 day mining loss compensation. I never received it, even after asking Yoshi multiple times for it. All I ever got out of that from him is, and I quote, "let me look into it" several times. I doubt I'll ever see that 0.35BTC or so I was promised. SP would have paid me it plus interest I'm sure, if they were late with them compensation.

Come on BITMAIN, become a good guy again.

This has been my exact sentiment, up until they kept on, and kept on telling me things which never came true, and then I gave up on them turning it around. All mining companies are for profit, but you can be for profit without screwing people over.

I sincerely hope they do turn things around Prelude. It would be great for the community, but as you said SPtech did and do true customer service. It isn't some magic trick, or even that hard to do. Simply take care of people and don't gouge them, don't lie in their face over and over, and don't, truly DO NOT tell them you will do something and not do it. That is a straight out lie. Mistakes are one thing. Miscalculating something happens. Mistakes truly happen, but stand up like a MAN and take care of it. BITSTAIN have so many opportunities to make things right yet they continue to spit in the face of their customers, IE Yoshi telling us he will do something and never doing it.

I think the BITMAIN Warranty account is shared between multiple people. I know there are good people working at BITSTAIN, and there are people who truly care about helping. There will come a time in this company when they release another miner which has major issues. They can continue the same old same old, OR, they can realize there are better ways. I know us home miners are a very small part of any mining companies business, but we are also the ones who will test, give great feedback, spread good word, post about how amazing someone is, and give the type of good karma you need for people to hear.

I echo the same sentiment, Bitmain be a company people talk about the right way and if people have issues, people point out obvious flaws, etc be humble enough to recognize those things and show progress to correct them.
I would be personally ashamed if I was responsible for the January firmware for the S3. It is crap on hashing rates and no Vcore control. The S4 you fix some of the hashrate but again destroy the ability to underclock. The S5s peopel are receiving now are reporting various different versions of firmware, but I do not own one of them so will not claim it for a fact. But, I do own the others, and have owned many S4s which I dropped at almost nothing because I felt bad for someone else dealing with them.

Customer service begins with honesty. If you cannot be honest and maintain communication with your customers you may make millions of dollars but eventually things always catch up. You can only do so much for so long before more people decide to come out and tell their story.

If every n00b to bitcoin read this entire thread they would never buy a product you sell from the sheer audacity you have taken in ripping people with pricing on the S5, ripping people witht he PSUs, Fans, and firmware on S4s, and the constant lack of attention to any past product. They will realize you are a sell it and forget it company. Just like Yoshi saying he will check on something or get back with someone and engineering is looking into it. You can only hear those things so many times before you are fed up.

If BITSTAIN decides they really want to provide customer service I can point you to several companies to model after.
But, I fear the first comment we saw in that last post is the only thing BITSTAIN cares about:
"BITMAIN is a FOR-PROFIT Company!"
That is the only thing that matters to BITSTAIN, and what they've yet to realize is the best profit is being mature enough to understand you are making money while making happy customers.
and it isn't even that hard to do. I do it everyday. You listen, and realize most customers simply want what they paid for, a functioning product without the games.
