41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - GUN Web 1.0 Release - New GUN Web Wallet on: April 03, 2018, 08:45:11 PM
We are seeing good number of signup on the new wallet so far. We hope this helps a lot with any potential new retailers out there getting on board with Guncoin.

I played around with mine a bit and discovered that this has the potential to be an awesome tool, of course.

Registration takes a mere few seconds, allowing someone or a business to have a wallet ASAP.

Also, that I can use it as a "mobile phone wallet" that uses the web, by using my phones QR code reader and clipboard, pasting the receiving address into mine, then sending direct to another wallet.

That was probably planned, but it was a nice surprise Smiley

Yes, so far it has been well received and we are seeing coins moving there minutes after people sign up.  And yes, you can walk into a store and pay with this web wallet standing right there using your phone or their computer.  While we feel it is very safe and secure, we have plans to add a few more features over time to add more value to and make it even more useful.  Additionally, when we move to GUN Core V1.5 soon, this wallet will get upgraded to the new one immediately as well. So if you want to summarize what Team Guncoin has accomplished over the last month with community support.......

1) Upgraded to GUN Core V1.4
2) Locked in SEGWIT and CSV at 75% and way beyond.
3) Launched the Official Guncoin Mining Pool at http://guncoinpool.com
4) Seen multiple real firearms related transactions using GUN at a major online auction site.
5) Launched the Official GUN Web Wallet at http://mygunwallet.com.

All that in less than 10 weeks!  Not bad I say.......We have updated the roadmap for V1.5 to include Bitcoin Core 0.16.x as well, since that is the current bitcoin core code available - that will bring us totally current with everything out and Lightning Network compatible.

Yep, not bad at all, pretty good actually.

Lots going on.

Here is something that may relate to (4)
Had some fun with it the other evening.

I captured an early sneak preview.. <ssshhhhhhhhh!!!>   lol

HaHa, with a name like that, it's gotta be good!

I feel like it's getting close to my birthday or something, with a nice present just around the corner Smiley
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - The Guncoin Online Web Wallet on: March 16, 2018, 04:33:31 PM
Now that we have SEGWIT and CSV well locked in with GUN V1.4, Guncoin is a VERY solid coin and can be used for virtually anything under any circumstances for day-to-day transactions.  As a matter of fact, we have seen real sales transactions take place over the past few weeks with Guncoin on a very high profile firearms auction site.  It is great news to hear of our users success in using Guncoin for every day purchases.

We have seen our Twitter base grow by over 20% since December as we pick up steam as more and more learn about Guncoin.  That is always great news and opens the Guncoin up to a whole new group of crypto and 2A enthusiasts on a daily basis.

We have provided our users a clean no-fee mining pool just recently to go along with at least a dozen others provided from users around the world.  While GUN started off primarily as a US based Second Amendment niche coin group, we have now expanded our user base to include confirmed users from well over 20 countries which is wonderful.  We find that a coin with a plan and a team to execute the plan is very well received by the crypto communities.

So we are far from done.  This is a community project and we always appreciate support from that community.  As always, a little limited by budgetary constraints, we will be moving forward soon continuing with the path that we set out on last September.  If you look at our roadmap on the main website, you see what lies ahead.  While we not taking anything off the list, I do reserve the right to change the order of the new projects based on finances and what makes most sense for the coin at this time.  So we rolled out the new pool at https://guncoinpool.com two weeks ago, we hope to have a few new features coming online before the end of April that will push GUN farther down the road than ever before.  More user tools and updated software is on the way over the next couple of months if not sooner.

For those waiting for something to happen, it has been for 6 months.  There is nothing else to wait for.  If you see our plans, you know we will get there.  How you choose to use Guncoin for your business or investment purposes is up to you.  It is time to do something with Guncoin like the Gunbroker.com users are in buying or selling there.  AS always, I appreciate your patience and support.

As a follow up to my previous post, I can confirm that we do have a Guncoin web wallet in work and will release it in the next few days.  It will be in a standalone domain.  This will be a big step forward for GUN as it means, that you can have a GUN wallet online and access it from any computer at any time from any where that you want and it will not be tied to a specific computer and there is no software to download.  Once it is fully tested and check out, I will publish the domain name here and on Twitter.

Quite awesome.

Been hoping for something like this for a while.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - GUN V1.4 Release - SEGWIT & CSV Locked In on: March 15, 2018, 07:22:19 AM
I contacted them through my GunBroker account and requested that they consider adding Guncoin as an official payment option. If everyone here that already has used GunBroker before (which I have) made a similar request it might actually make them look into it.

Yes, that is excellent news and the right approach.....Thanks!

I second that..

Many users making the requests is far more likely to get it done!!

Yep, I agree, but don't think that we should do anything close to pestering/spamming them.

I believe that I will see what I can find to sell on their site, something fun.
Maybe add a little more exposure for GUN that way, and help create a win/win situation for all; GunBroker, Buyer, Seller, and Guncoin.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - GUN V1.4 Release - SEGWIT & CSV Locked In on: March 13, 2018, 10:30:21 PM
Wow, what an experience.
Long story short, after exchanging a total of 39 emails with mtbird and GunBroker, I am happy to announce that GunBroker sided with crypto.

I'm very glad to see that they sided with you. Perhaps sometime in the future there could be an official GunCoin payment option integrated into GunBroker's auction services. I don't know what it would take technically to make that happen, but it would be very cool if it did happen.

Well, they have an email from us asking for that or at least to advertise. No response yet.  I would think that the more Gunbroker users who ask about Guncoin, the more attention GUN would get with them.

Speaking of GunBroker, it goes both ways...the more that know of GunBroker from Guncoin, the better for them too.

I hadn't paid much attention to them UNTIL I saw ads for items for sale for Guncoin.

That said, I got a call from my FFL earlier and found that I have something waiting for me to pick up.

I wonder what it is?..........A Glock maybe?

WOOHOO!!!!!!!
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - New GUN V1.4 Release - Moving Forward Again on: February 26, 2018, 05:36:02 PM
Lol, maybe I shouldn't have used the Buy-it-Now option.  Looks like people are losing sleep over it.  I would take it off if I could, but once a bid has been placed, the auction terms cannot be changed.

A little bit of angst is fine, since it will make it all the more enjoyable if I get the Guncoin Glock in my hands.

I have a fallback plan though in case that does not happen:
1. Put aside the same amount of Guncoin as it would have cost to purchase.
2. Wait for Guncoin to go mainstream and it becomes more common for gun shops to use.
3. Buy four or five new Glocks of assorted calibers to take away the pain Smiley
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - New GUN V1.4 Release - Moving Forward Again on: February 26, 2018, 04:54:53 AM
Awesome!  Get all the publicity you can get.  I don't use twitter, so after the auction ends, let me know how many re-tweets it received.  I'm curious

What do you all think about me listing a deer rifle after the Glock auction is over?  I have quite a few inexpensive firearms that I've accumulated thru trades and such that have no real collector value to me.

If I list things at a low enough starting price, it might tempt other newbies like me to jump in and download that wallet.  At a rate of one firearm every two weeks, I would be able to keep this going for a few months.

Thoughts?

P.S. I would be happy to buy from you folks as well.  I'm not trying to hoard GUN here...although a 1,000,000 GUN does sound pretty cool Wink

I believe that is a great idea.

BTW, I have to confess that I have been experiencing some tumultuous emotions since that Glock went up for sale....for Guncoin:
Love the ad that GunCoinRocks placed, seeing a Glock for sale, for Guncoin, but at the same time hoping that nobody does the buy now option and then seeing the ad, and it disappear....into someone else's hands other than my own.
LOL, but serious too.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - New GUN V1.4 Release - Moving Forward Again on: February 23, 2018, 04:58:39 PM
OK, for those wanting to buy firearms products using Guncoin - here is your chance - https://www.gunbroker.com/item/739790572.

Gunbroker.com is starting to allow ads that accept crypto currency.  TMK, this is the first Gunbroker listing for GUN.  We wish him luck with the sale!

Hi everyone, I am the person who listed the items on GunBroker for GunCoin.  One of my winning bidders alerted me to this forum.  I think this winning bidder must be a member here as well.

I just wanted to thank you all for your support, and for the work you all are doing keeping this crypto alive.  I believe that in years to come there will be a high demand for this option;  providing that anonymity from prying financial organizations remains in place.

I have a fun story for you all  Cool

I am having some technical difficulty with one of my other bidders.  A bidder by the name of 'mtbird' (so you can block him from bidding on your stuff) won several items and is now refusing to pay with crypto.  He/she knew very well what the ad said, but he/she is trying to convince GunBroker to force me to accept USD.  I have great news, GunBroker is siding with me!

This is the first message the buyer sent me after he/she won my items:
"Checked with Gunbroker and only US backed money, securities and money orders is legal tender. Where do I send the US Postal money order?"

I contacted GunBroker Customer Service, and they replied:
"The buyer has not contacted us and we would have told them you could accept any payment method you wish as long as you stated it in the listing."

I am in communication with GunBroker now to suggest a preventative measure.  I asked them if they would add "Cryptocurrency" to their official payment options.  As it stands, they offer Money order, Personal check, Credit/Debit card, PayPal, Escrow, etc.  I would like to see an option that says "GunCoin".

I also wanted to point out that GunBroker sells a LOT more than just firearms.  You can list knives, camping equipment, collectible militaria, MREs, and almost anything remotely related to hunting, fishing, or the outdoors.  You guys are supporting me, I will support you.  Feel free to use my listings as a model, you may copy my wording, edit, and borrow my GunCoin picture.  I will be happy to post a tutorial on here about how to set up a GunBroker account, and how to avoid some of the newbee mistakes that a lot of folks make.  I am not doing all this for money, I'm just trying to promote GUN through the use of GUN.

To find my auctions, just search "GunCoin"

FYI, I am listing a Gen4 Glock model 23, .40 caliber handgun on GunBroker this weekend. This may be the first documented sale and FFL transfer on the blockchain.  Tell your friends Smiley

Looks like I have just found a great reason to try to add another caliber to my collection Smiley

Being that it is President's Day here in the U.S., thought that I would share a few quotes from some of them.

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined..."
-George Washington

"The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it."
-Thomas Jefferson

"The Constitution preserves "the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation...(where) the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."
- James Madison

"Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life."
-John F. Kennedy

"I don't believe in the registration of handguns or the registration of the handgun owner. That has not proven to be effective."
- Gerald Ford

"The gun has been called the great equalizer, meaning that a small person with a gun is equal to a large person, but it is a great equalizer in another way, too. It insures that the people are the equal of their government whenever that government forgets that it is servant and not master of the governed."
-Ronald Reagan

Happy President's Day!
I like to believe that they would have appreciated Guncoin.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - New GUN V1.4 Release - Moving Forward Again on: February 19, 2018, 06:11:35 PM
As you can see, there are now lots of pools that see Guncoin as a great opportunity and provide mining opportunities for GUN miners. None of these pools are in any way associated with the Guncoin Team, nor do we make recommendations or comments on any of them.....With so many, that is not logistically possible.  Before signing up with any pool, you should do your own due diligence and any issues you have with them, should be addressed to the pool owners and NOT the Guncoin Team.

As far as the pools go, there are several now, that is good!  Also, as mentioned above, we are not affiliated with any of them.

Everyone wants a big pool, and the biggest is the Blocks Factory.  At least the biggest public pool, they are typically between 20 to 50% of the total hash on guncoin.

There are also smaller pools, and I see them getting blocks now.

But there is other hash on Guncoin, that it is private farms or autoswitch pools that immediately dump coins on the market to payout in BTC.  That had to be expected, as soon as Guncoin rose to be one of the more profitable neoscrypt coins.

Moral of the story, unless you have more than 2 mh/s (currently 2 mh/s is about 1% total hash, that should net you 4 to 7 blocks a day depending on the day) solo mining is going to be a frustratingly slow proposition.  Best bet is to jump in a pool suited to your wants.  If you want frequent payouts, join a larger pool and get more payouts of less coin each time.  If that's not as important, join a smaller pool, and get less payouts of a larger amount.  In the end, you get paid out on your share of work put into winning the block, so it should work out nearly the same in the long run.

One side effect of the autoswitch pools that dump on the market, is that the market price is never static.  Anytime that there is noone currently doing a buy, then the coin's price is dropping because of coin getting constantly sold on the market at the highest listed buy.  That's not all bad, as because of that constantly dropping price, there's deals to be had.  Smiley

Yep ⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️ ...... and when the autoswitch pools sell, it is nice to see some of those coins dumped into my buy orders Smiley

Here is the link to today's hangout, https://hangouts.google.com/hangouts/_/q63z57xnyjcxvkydp6jtyq523ae

Due to personal constraints, I will not be able to keep the hangout open as long today, certainly not 4 or more hours.

All are welcome! See you there!

Been having some difficulty making the hangouts.
This looks like it would have been very interesting to be part of, most likely with discussion of the newest info regarding the solar stakers.
Looking forward to finding out what I missed Smiley

Hi EverGreenCoin community! I am pleased to announce the test of both Mike's and my own units are going very well. While 24 hours (mine) and 48 hours (Mike's) might be to quick to judge, everything is working very promisingly thus far. Mike reports syncing faster with the Pi Zero than his Pi 1. I also found the WiFi to work better (less seemingly 'dead' spots) outdoors than I found with CHIP.

Pi Zero W.

PiJuice HAT w/ Pi Zero W attached underneath.

40W Solar Panel and above components syncing the EverGreenCoin blockchain.
Unit less case and any support brackets.

I have a just under 12 hours of collective solar/battery operation with no issues and syncing at a good rate. Today's weather was very unfavorable for solar charging actually. Sorry the picture is slightly blurred, but it was hurried as it started drizzling while I had the circuitry exposed. Of course I did not want the moisture damaging anything. We are now hoping to have a water-resistant case and not just a case users might be expected to water-proof (silicon or tape even) if they plan to expose to weather. As previously mentioned, whatever the case, it will be branded with the EverGreenCoin logo. Future revisions may even have our logo on the PCB.

If it can make it to sunrise on battery during the more resource-consuming syncing, I will very confident about today's test being successful under today's unfavorable, but real-world, conditions. It started down-pouring shortly after the picture was taken and all day was heavy overcast consistently. I moved it indoors after sunset for closer observation and to not have it soaking in rain all night. The solar panels are not getting any indoor artificial light that might confuse the results. During the night I will work with the controllers battery level reporting, hoping to better gauge the drain. In about 8 - 10 hours I will report if it did make it through the night to be replenished by daylight. Hopefully less overcast daylight but, it is a real-world test so, what it gets will be what it gets.

We are well on course for producing and selling units during Q1. The price is going to fall closer to the $200 - $300 range, but the input costs will justify. Don't be alarmed, that will include a preloaded base amount funded by the foundation coins so that the price is attractive. For example, $100 worth base amount of EverGreenCoin preloaded and ready to stake. Minus a minimal network configuration, Just add sunshine! I hope to offer pre-network configuration, but one would need to provide WiFi credentials for that. Also, additional EverGreenCoin could be purchased and preloaded along with the base amount at a slight market-rate discount. My thought being 5% - 10% discount, but none of these numbers are certain yet. The final costs will be transparent as promised.

Thanks for the continued support and patience!

This is awesome news.
Please put me one your list for acquiring one when they are ready Smiley
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - New GUN V1.4 Release - Moving Forward Again on: February 12, 2018, 08:33:55 PM
Whats the method of inputting private keys from a paper wallet to transfer funds from it to the V1.4 Wallet?

I will enjoy answering this one since giving out guncoin paper wallets seems to be one of my hobbies Smiley

Step by step:
Open your Guncoin wallet.

Click on the help menu, then on the Debug window option, which will appear.

Click on the Console tab.
In the lower prompt, type the words "walletpassphrase" (without the quotes), enter a space, then type in your passphrase, enter a space, then type in any number (in seconds) that you will need to have the wallet unlocked in order to type in the next step, hit the enter key.
(I seem to find that 240 gives me plenty of time to hand type in a private key, make a typo, and then try again, LOL.)

In the prompt, type in "importprivkey" (without the quotes), enter a space, then type in or paste the private key of the address which you are importing, then hit enter.

Wait for the wallet to reindex the blockchain, and your Guncoin will appear.
(It should appear in your transactions at the date that the wallet was loaded, not necessarilly the date it was imported)

You will have imported an address, with the associated amount of Guncoin.
Depending upon where you received the private key, you may desire to go to the coin control feature and move the Guncoin from that address to one that ONLY YOU have the private key for.

Also, I am going to use this post an an opportunity to let anybody know, that we are working on a stand alone paper wallet generator for Guncoin.
That is something I believe will come in very handy for sharing Guncoin, and in it's promotion.
Something one can print, load, and share.
When I talk with others about crypto currency, it seems to make a big difference if I can hand them something of value which is tangible.
I cannot give an exact time frame, but can say that we are moving forward.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - New GUN V1.4 Release - Moving Forward Again on: February 12, 2018, 05:59:41 AM
Interesting. And in what country can I buy firearms for these coins and that there is nothing for it? I hope it's not against the law?

You are free to buy firearms in any state or country in the world as long as you comply with the local laws, guidelines and policies.  That is up to you.  Guncoin has absolutely no effect on that and in all cases insists that you follow local laws concerning any firearm sales or transfers.  That being said, GUN is merely one option to use to transfer value in a firearms sale.  It would have the lowest fees of any other option. GUN owners exist in almost 39 countries that we are aware of at this time.

I felt the need to chime in and say that Guncoin would also be the most fun option to use.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - New GUN V1.4 Release - Moving Forward Again on: February 11, 2018, 06:47:55 PM
Is it possible to undermine guncoin SOLO?

How much hash do you have?

Let's hope that is a typo and one desires to solo mine Guncoin in a most beneficial way.

It is actually a very good question, and since the post got me interested, I pointed my video card at solo mining yesterday.

According to my math, and if I set it up properly, I may find a block every 14 hours or so.

Am waiting to see what happens.

I am glad I mined Evergreencoin when it was mineable.  I still hold a small amount of coins and they stake a good amount for any of the other coins I stake.

I missed the mining phase, but it is enjoyable watching them stake.

1.4 wallet - Heads up, everyone must upgrade in 8 to 10 days...

How do we do that? Is there a guide somewhere, or quick info? Just new program/wallet to load only? or do keys need to be imported?

It should be as simple as installing the newest version of the wallet http://guncoin.info/wallets/

As usual/standard though, always make a backup of your existing wallet.dat first, just because.

In regard to Version 1.4 wallets:

The word must be getting out, since it looks like there is a much better upgrade rate.

Real close to 80% at this moment

Tell me on what pools there are more than 50mm miners?
I only know 2 working pools
zpool and theblocksfactory
Where else can mine?

http://pool.hashrefinery.com/site/mining

Very weak pool((
the last unit was found 7 hours ago

I believe that Hashrefinery is actually quite strong when they throw their hash around, since they are one of the profit switching pools.

Kinda hard to not use TBF though, considering how long they have helped Guncoin miners.

Never have checked out Zpool.

I imagine that one can solomine too, you just won't see many blocks, but overall things should average out in the long run if somebody went that route and GUN's hashrate didn't get too astronomical.
