Not sure how to vote in the poll, thought I did, clicked the reply under it, but that might just be the same as the reply on the bottom of the page? but all is good anyway.

They all look like they will get the job done.
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DOGED][POD] DogeCoinDark [POW][Scrypt][privacy/security - hides users ip] on: August 08, 2015, 09:39:52 PM
I vote for layer1gfx's entry, assuming the top bar and bottom bar will be fixed to be of equal length.

edit: just something about symmetry.

Bitspill's entry is very nice, very clean.

The others are good too, looks like we cannot lose.
303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin could bring about world peace? on: August 04, 2015, 08:26:59 PM
Not really, but if governments used BTC (which will never be IMHO) we could possibly "follow the money" and learn a lot about what is really happening in regard to world conflicts.
Who profits, etc....

Your settings look like what would be in a .bat file, under the same folder which would include your miner's .exe file, while using CGminer.
Not sure about your settings since cards will be different.

I have not used cgminer to mine neoscrypt, but would assume it would take a particular version to do so.

What I can share though is my .conf file that is being used for SGminer-5-dev-neoscrypt-windows-new2, running a r9-290x:

This one has a failover.

You would want to place your information in it of course, and change whatever specs fit your video card.
You can search for what others have used for their card specs under other coins that use neoscrypt, or card settings comparisons.
Hope this helps a bit, my knowledge is limited to what I have done previously, but had fun learning to do so.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - New NeoScrypt Algorithm on: July 31, 2015, 04:17:33 PM
i havn't mined neoscrypt before, what is the comandline to start sgminer? (tried it unmodded, won't do that again). followed this link above, and the getting started section indicates scrypt Huh

also, think OP should be updated @ exchanges and include cryptopia.

Unfortunately neoscrypt remains broken because the main coder decided to keep the unified and optimized code for his own rental GPU farm.

What GPU's are you mining with?  The specific instructions for your GPU's involve using different versions of sgminer or cgminer per GPU generation.

hi - thanks, i'm trying to fire up an old ati hd5670. also have an r9-280x but it is busy atm  Wink

Maybe this info could help:

I am using a r9-290x and found a few versions of sgminer for neoscrypt out there. The version that gave me the best results was downloaded from theblocksfactory mining site. Had to change the specs in the conf file of course. One original setting that caught me off guard was the temp or fan settings I believe. Didn't think about that change at first and the temp shut down kicked in. Make sure to go through the list before firing it up if you do.

Am getting around 260 Kh/s at relatively non-intense settings.

It is good to see others having an interest in mining Guncoin.

It's been fun this last week or so seeing my GUN balance increase.

Something that just dawned on me is that Guncoin is still in it's initial block reward phase, with quite some time to go before a halving, so anybody can still get in on it with a little bit of effort.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - New NeoScrypt Algorithm on: July 29, 2015, 03:09:39 AM
Ok, the new wallet is being worked on, target delivery mid august.. (yes, I know that someone dedicated could have a wallet out in a week, but all of us working on this have full time jobs, have other side projects, and have families, so the work is being done in limited spare time)

Stuff that is definitely getting done:

- fix - solo mining, as the current wallet that function is broken for GPU's and only works with CPU mining
- fix - multiple references inside the wallet to the coin it was adapted from during the neoscrypt switch
- adding - QR codes, this will facilitate using the pads I found as POS (Point Of Sale) units making Guncoin usable in the real world, as well as printing paper wallets for giving awards

Stuff that is probably not going to be popular:

- adding - 1% Promotion fee to mined blocks.  In open disclosure, these coins will all be deposited to an account that will be used strictly for promotion of guncoin.  The account can be monitored via the block explorer to see that the coins will be given as prizes at events to promote Guncoin in the real world.

Stuff that is possibly getting done: (may come in a second release later)

- adding - remote connection to the wallet with receive-only coin transfer ability, this will facilitate using a separate device as a POS unit, protecting the wallet from theft if the device is stolen
- adding - ability to add new functions to the wallet, without a complete wallet update
- adding - 0.5% administrative (this is 1 coin per block) fee to pay for wallet upgrades, keeping masternodes and block explorers active.

We know fees aren't attractive but pools charge an average of 1.5%, and that is for one guy to just run a server with several coins taking that off of every coin.

At this point, we are open to discussion on other things to add to the wallet while it gets upgraded.  Do you have an idea?

The wallet is currently getting modified, and the list of definite fixes is in progress.

Last call to offer an opinion on anything on the maybe list.  Or offer a suggestion to add, remove, or repair something..

I believe that some fees/donations towards upkeep, promotion, etc....applied to transactions is a good idea, = investing in itself. Almost everything we use, needs some investment/maintenance, whether it be a vehicle, home, tools, business, or even coin.

On the wallet, a notification bar to let us know when updates are needed or to share a pertinent Guncoin status event like a news ticker, a comma separating coin amounts, paper wallet capabilities using our own images, maybe the ability to change the color or look of the wallet with background themes. It all sounds like a lot of work, but would be awesome to have.

Anyone else get a notice of a post deleted by moderators?

I had one that was on-topic get deleted from this thread, and figure that it had to be random...  See below.

And I mined another block last night, using a hotel's free wifi, while I was on vacation out of town.

Awesome!!

Let's see if I can reply this time with the appropriate quote.

Your post seemed quite on topic.

Just recently pointed a GPU over that direction.
Thanks, thought it would be fun to mine for a while.

That was in regard to Coincave for mining. Kinda messed up the original quote/post.

Block time?
Confirmations?
Block reward?
Total coins?
Premined 50% of total = 4.5 million, that makes 9 million  but blockchain explorer says 12,136,949

Some of this is by memory, so hopefully I will answer correctly your questions:

Block time at a few minutes, but have seen it take a little longer when transferring lately.

I believe 6 confirmations before it confirms in the wallet (to lazy to open it up to double-check at the moment).

Block reward has been halved down currently to 12.5 AUR. (not sure of the ultimate halving schedule timing though)

Total coins to be mined 21,000,000.

10,500,000 were premined, leaving the balance to be mined.

The block explorer showing the 12,136,949 doesn't take into account the burned coins (5344628.347) left over from the distribution.

So there should be a total of about 6,793,000 in circulation at this time, with another 8,863,000 approximately to mine according to my calculations.

Somebody please chime in and correct me if I am in error.

If you guys traders expect fake hype, you will be disapointed, this is by no mean the plan - and ever will.  There will be swings, so opportunity for traders, but I'm pretty sure it would be appreciated that you keep these discussions at the minimum - so we can focus here on developement, ideas, news and so on.  It's not a moderated thread - and it's cool - but it is sometime difficult to create a positive and productive environnement when few people take all the place with price and trading discussions.

May I suggest to create another thread ''trading oriented'' ?  I've been a daytrader myself - and enjoyed it a lot !

Thanks supporting us.

A trading oriented thread created by those interested in that aspect sounds like a good idea.

In regard to the new wallet.... a good, clean, solid core, when it is ready, sounds like a great place to start.
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Auroracoin - A new chapter in the history of Iceland! on: May 18, 2015, 03:07:20 AM
I believe that it is important to make sure the wallets are as reasonably nice as can be, even it it incurs additional waiting time.

It feels like AuroraCoin is getting it's second wind, and an awesome looking and functioning wallet would be great to go with that.

Wish I could help, but do not have those skills.

It may be too late to share input, but here is my "Christmas list" of what would be good to see in a wallet:

The ability to change "skins", link to discussion sites, notification bar for example when updates are needed, a comma separating coin amounts, paper wallet capabilities using our own images.

The people of Iceland know what is best though for their coin and hopefully the wallet will focus on their desires foremost.

Thanks for reading.

I believe that the ideology behind the Pirate Party goes hand in hand with cryptocurrency.

Auroracoin and the Icelandic Pirate Party make sense together.

Edit: Iceland's Pirate Party?

I usually stay in the background, but wanted to voice my thoughts.

I hate seeing "pumps and dumps" in any cryptocurrency. Those turn it into a short term profit for a few, and belittle the potential of placing the power of a currency back in the hands of the common people (the true goal in my opinion of what cryptos should be used for).

Hopefully the potential can come to fruition of a crypto actually making a change in society.

I am betting on Auroracoin possibly doing that.

Not Icelandic, not using AUR for immediate profit, but buying and holding. My own little way of contributing to the big picture.

Lastly, I have seen some wallet talk about. A lot has gone on recently, definitely in a positive direction for the coin, let's not pressure those making this happen since slow and steady may win the race. I believe they will be ready when they are ready.

Hey Everyone,

First, just thought that I would give the heads up that I have a little GUNcoin giveaway happening tomorrow over on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/cryptospread/comments/335jmd/patriots_day_guncoin_giveaway/
so please feel free to drop by.

Second, starting since a few months ago, I have been unable to log into guncoin.info from my personal computers (three separate ones, using two different internet accesses) this is what I get:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I can still view from my phone though.

I did not change anything in regard to firewalls, etc... I actually do not know how to give permission to do so if that is the issue, any advice on how to make that happen would be appreciated.

Thanks

Access is fine here to www.guncoin.info, either with or without the www. part, maybe you're in a block of blacklisted ip's?

I wonder if this is an internet service provider thing? or is it an individual computer thing?

This is the only website that it happens to for me, so am happy that it still works for others.

I will put it on my list of things to learn to understand.

Can anyone tell me what the link is to get that cool paper wallet I have been looking for an hour and I want to send some Gun Coins to my Bro for his B-Day

GughWscN7n6zQqsVe2j4gedUfvVdjmPVrv

Since all the coins actually reside in the blockchain, and the wallets are basically just keys to access them, as long as you have those (public and private addresses), there are a few ways to make a paper wallet happen if it isn't too late.

They do take a little bit of work though.

If you have some graphics skills, you can print your own design, and place the public and private key to an address you generate and add coin to, for him somewhere on it.
You can go to the console and get the private key to an address.

You can also go to walletgenerator.net (I would do the download of the page and open it while offline to help with security).

The Guncoin block explorer can be used to see the information about the address once it is created.

Good luck, Great idea for a gift.

Hey Folks,

Just wanted to give a "heads up" that I posted a giveaway of GUN on /r/GunCoin yesterday.

If somebody wants some free GUN, they may want to check it out.
