OK so here it is.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1365894.msg14618727#msg14618727

Not really sure what the deal is with this and don't even really think it's a big deal. I was just reading the thread and read that post and was going "WTF. I remember this." LOL

You got a stalker?

Maybe somebody just re-posting intelligent comments to get their activity level up a bit?

This may sound like a noob question, but can someone point me toward instructions on how to use the windows non-gui wallet?

halving went smooth =]

It sure looks like it did, was watching the block halving happen and glad to see that.
224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [$XVG] VERGE [POW][MultiAlgo][BLACKHOLE][Entire Line of TOR/i2P Resources] on: May 06, 2016, 03:35:57 AM
Question:    best coin on the market?
VERGE    - 59 (61.5%)
XVG    - 37 (38.5%)

Total Voters: 96

any chance the coin rename ticker to verge ?

XVG is great to use for the ticker.

If you look back to when it was decided, it makes a lot of sense.

I believe that vote was just for fun....a win either way.

less then 5000 blocks left till halving!

A few more than that.....havlving is at 378,000.....XVG is almost to block 371,000.
But yes, it'll be good.  Grin

Yes, I believe it will be good too.

Big miners will have half the coins to dump (fine though since that is the nature of business and it is their investment), but it will be nice to see what happens.
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: AURORACOIN - Empowering Financial Freedom on: May 01, 2016, 05:32:32 PM
How come sha256 has several terrahasshing power and script has much less but still earns equal coins per block?

Each algo has its own difficulty. Cryptocoin 101, look it up.

It has to do with keeping the block rewards more or less even between the algorithms, with different difficulties to make that so.

No one type of mining can dominate, in order to help with decentralization.

It believe it was mentioned when the subject of the multi-algo was first started.
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: AURORACOIN - Empowering Financial Freedom on: May 01, 2016, 01:04:17 PM
Almost there......at block 224,997

I imagine we will see an even smoother blockchain soon.

I can see that the insight.auroracoin.io blockchain explorer does not seem to work on the hardfork yet.

you can use mine while its being fixed: http://insight.auroracoin.tools

The cryptoID block explorer isn't updated to work either.

Thanks for sharing that.

I may have bought at $15.

Bittrex, Cryptopia, and the ISK one if you are in Iceland as far as I know.

Big buyer on bittrex, who owns the 117k coins in the top address? 1.5% of the supply  Grin

Something very big is about to happen Smiley

Big dump?

I wouldn't trust bittrex with my coins after my account and nine others were hacked, I lost 15K AUR plus a lot of other coins, do your trades and get your coins off that exchange.

Looking forward to the decentralized exchanges like: https://bitsquare.io no more weak links in the crypto sphere.

Edit: looking at the distribution on bittrex, I see that the top 14 wallets have more than 10K in each, please tell me you have 2FA on at the very least.

"Big Dump" was my first thought/concern when I saw that figure.

Then afterwards, realized if that did happen, hopefully it could be considered a "redistribution" (always trying to find a good angle on things).

Yeah, 2FA would be a great idea to have activated if someone does not.
231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: AURORACOIN - Empowering Financial Freedom on: April 25, 2016, 12:50:35 AM

It comes down to this and it's really simple, if you are bagholder it's not a scam, if you not a bagholder it is a scam.
There is nothing special about AUR as a coin. Buying at these prices regardless if it's a scam or not is dangerous as the coin it's copying aka Digibyte has a lower marketcap then AUR by $800k.
This is a obvious pump before the rollout of the advertising and Multi Algo fork.

AUR is special because Balduro was the first person to come up with a solution to the problem of how do you get crypto into the masses without convincing them to go sign up for a shady service like Gox and get screwed in the end or find a drug dealer to sell drugs for Bitcoin with. Because for the first few years of its life that was the only way for a normal person with no mining equipment to get into Bitcoin.

I still remember the drama over AUR when it first broke on this board and all the Bitcoin maximalists frothing at the mouth with hatred, guys like BitcoinEXpress coming in to fork it, people marching in line to call it a scam even though real Icelanders were proving they were getting their coins etc. etc. but how many of these Bitcointalk "legends" would have been willing to give away even 5% of their Bitcoin hoard to people all across the world in hope of spreading its adoption? Virtually none of them. And once AUR's marketcap was driven into the ground they all had a good laugh and went on their merry way.

People on here tell everyone crypto is literally "earth changing technology", yet they constantly talk good projects down like its worth nothing more than a few small burger joints from the midwest. The local business I work for alone pulled in $9 million last year and all we do is print paper products with a 10 year-old website, I didn't even know it existed in town when I interviewed. But there are small businesses like this all across the world making 10x the marketcap of even the top alt coins in crypto.

It kills me when I see kiddies saying things like Bitcoin with a $7 billion marketcap "is alot". LOL, just Mcdonalds alone is worth $90 billion.

It's one thing to attack the technological fundamentals but history has proven time and time again the best tech doesn't always wins. It's all about the best combination of solid and STABLE tech, a bit of marketing pizazz but also commitment to knowing who your customers are. Not trying to say AUR is like a product, but I believe the fundamentals of business and commerce is all the same regardless. It's all money at the end of the day right? The AUR team is one of the few who knows their target market versus alot of github autists who "think" they know what the average person wants or needs. AUR is one of the few alts with potential for real world use, versus all these other coins on CMC which are all designed to trade and make more Bitcoin and have no hope of ever being used for anything.

If you are going to treat crypto like trading baseball cards, than that is all it will ever be. But I personally think it can be much more.

Great post, that captures the essence of the Aroracoin project.

I sold a bit too low Sad, could of made another 25% btc profit if I dropped at 80k sat Sad. Great work by your team to get the price this high.

I believe that the higher price for AUR is a result of their work, not what their work is.

That said, I do believe we will see a price a lot higher than even now.

Ooops, looks like this should be here:

our halving is in (roughly) 2 weeks, so the amount of new coins being produced will be halved.

and changing coin specifications to increase the value for people already holding is kind of a shady practice in my opinion. that doesn't give room for new people.

I for one appreciate that you refuse calls to not manipulate XVG.
As you said, the specs were there from the start and it is what it is.

When other people finally realize (as they're starting to do now) what this coin really is.....the market will take care of price.
As much as Verge is up and down lately, that's just part of it's natural growth as it moves through what you laid out back in 2014.

Thank you for this coin, it's really like no other.  Cool

So if you're someone looking to mine, invest or both......better do it now.
And enjoy the riding the Verge.

Ditto.....what Beachguy just wrote.

edit: fixed a word for you, but we know what you meant. Smiley

I kind of enjoy seeing Quasi's posts, and find them entertaining.
We are all welcome to our opinions, albeit however much we may disagree with them.
He's like the Verge Curmudgeon that gives us a standard to prove wrong and make sure we rise above.
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [$XVG] VERGE [POW][MultiAlgo][BLACKHOLE][Entire Line of TOR/i2P Resources] on: April 21, 2016, 04:00:04 PM
When is the halving?

Also I would really like it if I could pos with this coin. I'm sure others would too.

Is there a possibility of this?

Even if we wanted to, there's been a lot of changes lately and things are running great right now. Do we really want to be the coin that was scrypt, then MA, then POS a month later?

Change is a good thing but too much change makes it look like we just can't decide who we are.

I only sold about 10% during the last surge and I've been patiently waiting. Now it looks like I'm gonna get it all back 3-4X. Kind of wish I'd sold a little more but I don't like putting downward pressure on it. More fun to let it soar.

Just wanted to chime in that I 100% agree with p75 on keeping things as they are.

Things are looking good:
We have a smooth blockchain, some additional redistribution and availability of currently low cost coins for any to acquire.
I am also looking forward to the new wallets and to see how things work out once there are two additional options to mine.
It seems like that may distribute coins even wider, and possibly help keep the blockchain consistent and even.

It would be good if this ANN was Adam poking fun at himself, since that would show a great degree of humor.

If anybody was to start a South African cryptocurrency, it should be him if he had the resources.

Definitely has the enthusiasm for digital currency.

I noticed that AikaPool says the current block number is 340990.
https://aikapool.com/xvg/index.php?page=statistics&action=pool

Would they be on the wrong chain?

At this moment www.blockexperts.com/xvg is saying 349981

Just a heads up in case any miners there could be hashing away to no avail.

edit: fixed/grabbed a wrong number, but still maybe incorrect.
237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - New NeoScrypt Algorithm on: April 17, 2016, 04:34:06 PM
I had the wallet mine yesterday for kicks using the built in miner, found another block.
WOO HOO!

edit:  Forgot my wallet was running in the background.....just got another.

A fun, little thrill, getting some coins unexpectedly.
238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [$XVG] VERGE [POW][MultiAlgo][BLACKHOLE][Entire Line of TOR/i2P Resources] on: April 15, 2016, 10:47:38 PM
Just downloaded/sync'ed/encrypted the Windows QT wallet and was going to buy some
coins but noticed the wallet says 'Warning: This version is obsolete, upgrade required'
so I'm holding off from investing until this is resolved.

Any ideas?

That is a little glitch that came through with the latest wallet.

Basically a non-issue.

It has already been addressed for the new wallets coming out.

edit: if you go back about fifteen pages or so, you will see that it was brought up about then.
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [$XVG] VERGE [POW][MultiAlgo][BLACKHOLE][Entire Line of TOR/i2P Resources] on: April 15, 2016, 04:43:43 PM
hi
i'am new in mining verge coins , for now i use xvg.suprnova as mining pool
in the pic i see Doged Est earning not xvg ( i'am confused because i know that dogedarkcoin is rebranded to verge )
i have 2 Q :
1/how i can send my doged to verge coin wallet ?
2/ how to convert my doged in usd ( 1000 doged = ??usd)
http://nsa37.casimages.com/img/2016/04/15//160415060801337609.png

It is great to see more people involved in mining Verge.
This multi-algo is going to work great I believe in helping that happen.
I didn't start until that happened myself.

Q 1: You should be able to send it as usual, I would not be too concerned about the name Doged vs Verge. Be sure you have an updated wallet though.

Q 2: You can find that information here, along with more.

As long as the address generation parameters doesn't change, it doesn't matter on which fork you're creating an address (you can also generate addresses offline without syncing).
It also doesn't matter which fork the exchange is on when you send coins or generate a new deposit address because the address and its private key works across all forks.
And since the exchange has the private key for the address you sent the coins to, the coins will arrive once the exchange is synced on the same fork as you sent the coins from.

I am away from my wallet at this time so not sure of the terminology, but how about doing something like "repairwallet", or resync to see if his coins show back up? Or import the private keys to another wallet?
If the receiver of the coins has not yet updated, the transaction may not have finalized yet. Amirmass could then transfer the coins to another valid address he owns so they wouldn't go away once the receiver did update?

edit: or would they then "disappear" and still go to the exchange when they updated?
Anyway......Amirmass, good luck with your coins.
