If your best share was above the listed diff of 5.13m, then you found a block. Otherwise it does not matter
its scrypt, not sha256d

1425  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: March 24, 2013, 07:50:48 PM
Addresses with 6 fixed characters are pretty common (K1773R owns 1K1773RbXRZVRQSSXe9N6N2MUFERvrdu6y), the odds are ~1/57billions
The odds of having an address with only upper case letters and digits is (36/62)^34 ~ 1/17billions
It's about 4 times quicker to find such an address than an address with 6 fixed characters. Far from impossible.
But the last characters are checksum.  Just because you can get all uppercase in what you go for vane doesn't mean you can get an all uppercase checksum as well.  Since a checksum is a hash, I doubt you can even calculate the odds on that...  Given the random nature of a hash, though, I doubt it can be proven impossible either.
as the last poster proofed it is possible, etotheipi has a only uppercase too Wink

1428  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Additional subsidy for P2Pool users: 1-3btc/day on: March 22, 2013, 03:17:24 PM
I just used some bitcoins from the Bitcoin Faucet fund to compensate the p2pool miners who's block was orphaned in the Big Chain Fork.

Transaction id 6521b0513f3077a983b82eb92cc95ecc24ad2a7ca3afdba082ef71ea8d25a868

PS: this was a one-time thing, don't expect orphan blockss in the future to get paid for!

thanks gavin Smiley

You know it's always a mess when people need to use their brains and choose. They're used to have others who decide what's best for them.

1433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Logo and Banner on: March 20, 2013, 08:14:12 AM
Here's my shot at a banner:
http://skude.se/dvc/Banner2.png

Clever banner, you'll get 2/5 of a share for the banner in round 22. The remaining banner awards are 1/5 of a share for the last two.

1437  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: March 17, 2013, 02:13:24 PM
this happens sometimes, start litecoind first and then start ltcp2pool, that should fix it.
1438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devcoin on: March 17, 2013, 01:55:04 AM
Yes, I was able see all command by means of command line and help flag but there does not seem to be a flag that starts (solo) mining. Tx for all your help BTW.

-gen=1 on the command line (gen for generate), or gen=1 in the config file.

The --help should have shown that but maybe didn't explain it well or something?

Got it to work, its mining now on a terrible slow speed (CPU only). All for the Devs  Kiss
better use poolers cpuminer...
1439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devcoin on: March 16, 2013, 02:09:31 PM
the Volume of BTC is much higher than all the other altcoins, therefore of course 1DVC itself wont be worth much/anything.
1440  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: xubuntu 12.04 wants to update fglrx-* packages - safe? on: March 16, 2013, 01:50:38 PM
in this case start as recovery mode and uninstall fglrx as 01BTC01 said, this shouldnt happen, if you fuck up your graphic drivers then X11 wont be working, not the whole system. so it seems to be a other problem.
if this dosnt work out, contact me in IRC/XMPP so we can work it out together Wink
