I think I'm paranoid. I create 3 backups of my wallet.dat prior to every start of the app - so actually on a daily basis. These files are than backed up to a second HDD in my laptop and both HDDs will be synced to an external drive from time to time. I have about 3 (per backup un) x 400 files x 3 HDDs.
just use git then Wink

Anyone has a working pool? Everything appears to be down.. (At the same time  Huh)
use a decentralized pool, p2pool Wink
803  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: November 30, 2013, 07:26:18 PM
I need some trusted members to build some of these -  i'll pay . in QRK -

WE need a MAC miner !
just compile it

A Must Read concerning Full Disk Encryption

http://blog.crackpassword.com/2012/12/elcomsoft-decrypts-bitlocker-pgp-and-truecrypt-containers/

 Beware of Trojan Horses.

Caveat emptor
you shouldnt use winblows anyway
805  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: November 27, 2013, 01:48:25 PM
as i posted in the other thread i can open a pool on cryptopools.com pps, low fee block finder bonus, but i need an idea of the interest in it before i pass the information to techbytes. also i dont know about the forks but if i go ahead with the pool i can put up a block explorer too and provide 2 public nodes for everyone to sync with

EDIT: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=348841.0

10 votes minimum are needed before we open a pool
nodes shouldnt be a problem if you compiled from git, winblows builds dont have the dnsseed included as it is an old build.

my local hashrate is at the max and Efficiency (130%) too - check this out - http://www.guugll.eu:13327/static/
BBQCoin is booming now - p2pool network on 80+ MH/s and locally i run on 8+ MH/s that is my personal record :-D

if you have trouble to use your cgminer try this setup:

cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://www.guugll.eu:13327 -u YourWalletAddress -p AnyPasswordYouWant

p2pools are reporting blocks that do not exist, or don't appear here. Also CoinChoose and Coinwarz are showing different diff numbers and both are different from the diff you can see at the BQC cryptocoinexplorer. Is there a fork or forks?
use the block explorer in my signature!
807  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Yet another Coin Control Release on: November 27, 2013, 11:02:57 AM
Well I am trying to control what coins are being consumed in a given transaction... as in which unspent inputs... but how would I do this?

The point is to let you micromanage what coins (UTXO entries) you consume in a given transaction.
There is no such thing as a "from address".
by selecting the outputs you want to use...

@OP: add this info here if possible -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=93437.msg3688924#msg3688924
809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: November 26, 2013, 01:02:08 PM
So you won't explain how to deal with it...
deal with what?
seriously, start being precise. i cant know what ur thinking inside ur brain over such a huge distance Wink
810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: November 26, 2013, 12:15:24 AM
@the guy with huge orphan:
your bbqcoind is lagging behind always 2-3 seconds creating alot of orphaned shares, if you dont want to waste ur power, fix it.
also be sure to open ur p2pool port so you get more connection to others (relaying takes tomuch time)
811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: November 25, 2013, 12:12:49 AM
also another mistake alot of ppl do, is turning of queue @ cgminer, and expiry/scantime way too low. noqueue/low scan+expiry was only needed on getwork, since everything is using stratum your work will be generated localy and your no longer affect that much by latency. its sad that alot of "guides" still say you should this stupid behaviour :S

This one Smiley
what dont you understand about it?
if your using default settings for cgminer, your fine and dont need to worry
812  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: November 24, 2013, 11:19:01 PM
Can you explain the second error that you were talking about in the previous message?

I'm not in a P2P pool right now
cgminer (old version that supports GPU mining) and configuration adapted to my hardware
what "second error", can you be more precise?
813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: November 24, 2013, 10:19:37 PM
hi.can somebody kindly post solo mining guide to anoncoin?is this ming different than other altcoin mining?can cgminer do its mining?what darknets like I2P, TOR ??do share the config file settings..do we need to addnodes??thnxx
get source, compile daemon, create config, point your miners to given daemon, done -> ur mining
thnks for reply but it would be good if you can provide some example of config for anoncoin
default does the job, if you want i2p also do i2p=1, if you want i2p only, do onlynet=i2p
Code:
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
daemon=1
server=1
814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: November 24, 2013, 09:57:57 PM
Where did you say bandwidth? I know the difference between those two words but, being basically a french-speaker, if you don't name the word, I take the one I thinkyou're meaning

I usually have less than 100 ms Smiley

I don't understand the second error :/
what miner are you using?
what parameters/config?
whats the pingtime to the p2pool?
815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: November 24, 2013, 07:34:16 PM
ok , my point was - that the narken source works better for me after test.
and yes i agree with you about the DOA stuff - nicelly written
seems the guy with that much orphan has misconfigured their node (stuck *coind or changed the src/internals) or is doing some crazy shit. tough if you run your own node, you wont be affected by it. you will earn at his expenses Smiley
according to the graphs + data logs, he mined and then he stoped his node, did something crazy changes and now his p2pool is producing only (or almost only) orphans. funny stuff
if you look at the following, you will be happy with free coins
Code:
Shares: 6624 total (7 orphaned, 189 dead) Efficiency: 123.2%
816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: November 24, 2013, 07:33:05 PM
I think that I'm gonna wait for a traditional PPLNS pool without lags :/
if your connection is bad (someone had 30-40% stales yesterday) obviously p2pool or any pooled mining is bad (on p2pool its just alot worse).
you should run a own bbqcoin p2pool instance and see if its better.

I can get 5 MB/s while downloading with Bittorrent so I don't think that I have a bad connection
But i like having a monitor that shows all the stats
And obviously I like the PPLNS system :S
a mistake alot of ppl do, bandwidth != latency.
for p2pool/mining it comes down to latency. of course if your up/down-stream is fully (or highly) saturated, your latency will go up unless you do traffic shapping.
also another mistake alot of ppl do, is turning of queue @ cgminer, and expiry/scantime way too low. noqueue/low scan+expiry was only needed on getwork, since everything is using stratum your work will be generated localy and your no longer affect that much by latency. its sad that alot of "guides" still say you should this stupid behaviour :S
817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BBQCoin, the coin you want to eat. on: November 24, 2013, 06:54:41 PM
But on the other pool (BigBBQ), it seems like they don't pay the shares (less than one BBQ in nearly a day) and, on "digBBQcoin", you can't register if yiou have a "-" in your email...

Stand by. K1773R is setting up a new p2pool server right now. Once its up we will will put up the info!
here we go
p2pool for mining: http://p2pool.bbqcoin.darkgamex.ch:19324/static/
if you want to run your own node: https://github.com/K1773R/p2pool-bqc

i tryed this p2pool source and its giving too much DOA.
if i use the narken source: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=198263.0 i have much better stats.
how is 3.4% doa+orphan much?

EDIT: as some more ppl join, it takes some minutes to increase sharediff resulting in more orphan/doa during that period. orphans arent a problem aslong you got around the same amount as others do. seems one guy has a horrible connection and therefore a lot of orphan. good part about this is the ppl who setup their p2pool right will have higher income than otherwise possible and the ones refusing to do it right will get less.
