It still wont offer anonymity comparable to Zerocash or Cryptonote...That's why the original Zerocoin devs abandoned it.

If it offers complete anonymity then what is the difference with that offered by cryptonote?

What concerns me about cryptonote is the developers. They have already engaged in one very elaborate hoax. Is it possible they have embedded something in that technology that will bite people?

Anoncoin developers are more trustworthy at least, even if they do not rush. When they started anoncoin they knew that they would be scrutinized and targeted by the people who threw Aaron Swartz over a cliff and used Sabu or whatever his name was to try to discredit a basic human value. There is no doubt whatsoever that the usg has people tasked with only trying to discredit the anonymous image or meme, and no doubt that they see anoncoin as a potential cutting edge. Still anoncoin developers do their work. I have bought small amounts of anoncoin at prices ranging I think from about 50 cents to around 8 dollars, if I,m not mistaken. If it were to drop to a penny I would continue buying and of course if it rises to $300 I will sell some as I am tired of sleeping in my car.

If you have information that there is a flaw in zero whatever that anoncoin is developing then please be specific. Otherwise it does just sound like you are marketing for another coin.

I'm a fan of both Anoncoin and *CN coins. As for the *CN devs "embedding something," the source code is publicly available at github for each coin, so as long as you're building from source (and examining the code, as I'm sure some of the users of the coin do), then no worries.

Anoncoin seems to be doing fine. People on here get frustrated because of the relative lack of involvement from the devs, but that doesn't mean the devs are careless or not working on this, since we know they are as evidenced by activity on github. If anything, it means the devs are doing what devs do best: developing. We just need to give them time to do what they do.
will others really make all source public?

so if most developers bailed out and only one is working on this as of now. is it possible for community to attract other programmers to work on this? 6000anc is not a small amount, also community can chip in to this. its clear that whoever gets first to zerocoin strikes gold immediatly. plus the oldest blockchain, fair distribution, strong network. all this can make this coin a dominating one among anonimous range coins. it would be nice to know for sure whether developers got other things to do or working on this one. many of us still mining it. could be total waste of electricity.
i can confirm that atleast 2 are working on ANC currently

Hey ya'll, I've added ANC to my new Multipool. Would love to have some miners stop by and mine! 0% fees while in beta!

xpool - BTC Multipool

PROP reward system
BTC Payouts
Scrypt & SHA256 Algo's
DDoS Protected
High Performance Backend
Simple setup and usage
0% Fees while in BETA
To mine:
Cheers and Happy Hashing!
yey Pool hopping and fake "DDoS Protection" Smiley
marketing nowadays...

Pardon moi?

I think he meant coin hopping, "let us do the driving" parasitic infection that allegedly has DDoS protection. Tongue
No, you can screw other ppls which regularely mine at a pool if the payout system is proportional (to get more infos, check pool hopping, its almost extinct).
DDoS protection in generals is a dream which major flaws, unless you have huge amounts of money at your disposal

Craptsy is corrupt by DRK fans Smiley

but ANC will survive! Next month ANC price will be Drk x2
NACK, ZeroCoin will first be on testnet, not mainnet! After testing, it will be integrated into mainnet.

This formula is made specifically for quark algo coins...it won't work for for BTC...it's based on the supply/demand formula.

Why can't you tie it to such a formula? This formula is based on what is used everyday all around to world to determine price indexing.

Make your mind.

Made specifically for quark based on its hash rate...Quark = MH/s....SHA256 = GH/s....Scrypt = KH/s...as you know the hashing rates are not the same depending on the algo.

Honestly and take no offense... stop it.
This is not a job for you.

You have one variable in your formula that is the hashrate.
Since that variable can go in any case (sha/scrypt/whatever) by x times up and down...the formula can be applied to any other coin by simple multiplying the value of the hashrate by a factor or diving it.

It's basic mathematics.
If it doesn't work for other coins then it's a waste of time as it is false for quark also.

Also...
the hashrate follows the mining profitability
the price will not be affected by the hashrate , already debunked 10000 times myth
some ppl are resistant to logic :S thanks!
511  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: June 18, 2014, 09:40:10 AM
One thing that I noticed is that the Details in the Binaries are missing under Windows.
For most people, (including me) an executable looks suspicious if these Details are missing.

[pictures]

The metadata on the details-tab alone is indeed pretty useless. However, there is the possibility to have executables signed with Microsoft's Authenticode [1], which is Microsoft's way of code signing. It's more or less the same as the GPG-Signatures the Armory Devs already provide, however it's far more easy to check on windows, as the functionality for this is already included in the OS and the NT-Kernel. Even more, these signatures can be used to instruct the OS to only allow execution of signed (even constrained by the signer) executables.

AFAIK Authenticode also protects the metadata in the executable, so the information in the details-tab becomes more reliable.

I would really like to have all Armory Windows executables also to be signed with Authenticode besides GPG.

     http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ieinternals/archive/2011/03/22/authenticode-code-signing-for-developers-for-file-downloads-building-smartscreen-application-reputation.aspx

You mean pay microsoft to sign it for you which can be social engineered? In addition to the private signing key owned by the nsa?

No. I mean getting a Authenticode Certificate from a well known CA (eg. [2]) and use it to sign the executables. Microsoft does only provide the root keys, which are trusted by default (Microsoft also makes the OS, this whole procedure is used on, so the users, who do use Armory on Windows, do trust Microsoft anyways.) The private key for the code signing certificate can be stored in the same way as Armory's GPG key, so it's not owned by the NSA. (And actually, it's not the NSA I fear in this use case, but regular hackers.) Social Engineering is a concern only, if you don't check the metadata in the executable.

If you use CA and not M$ Certs, its even more horrible and has more attack vectors.
512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | cPoW | PC mining | Stability | Hashcows - QRK Payouts on: June 18, 2014, 09:38:43 AM
I'm a Quarker who has been concerned for sometime over the networks hash rate drop. I may have a solution for you guys, but you will have to get the Quarkcoin community behind the idea. With BitQuark, I've been wanting to break the link between BTQ and BTC and also know that the network will be secure. So I came up with the formula below to set the price of the coin based on money supply and hash rate. The basics of the concept is if you want the coin to increase in value and hold that value, then you need to increase the hash rate and hold it there. Just look at the example below based on current QRK values, with the exception of an increased hash rate.

Look this formula over and input your own hash rate value to see how the price increases. Also if the hash rate remains the same and money supply increases, then the price will go down just like any other supply/demand market. If you have any questions, just ask. Thanks guys!
you cant tie price to such a formula
513  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: June 17, 2014, 11:55:10 AM
Really? So lets assume you have an up-to date antivirus system/ malware detector like most people do and then you look in the task-manager seeing running processes that you have no idea what they might do. The first thing is to check if they are from a known vendor. Then you might google the file to see what other people say.

If you had ever a Virus infected computer, then you know what I mean.

Right now the guardian.exe looks suspicious because I have no idea if its legit or not.

Most viruses don't pay attention to this stuff and thats where you can identify them easily.
This is false security.

Hello drAGon925,

I apologize for the inconvenience. ANC withdrawals are currently delayed. Our technical support team is aware of the issue and we expect to have a resolution soon.

We appreciate your patience on this matter.

Sincerely,
Stephanie
Cryptsy.com

= I Hope we will have many other exchanges with high volume on all of them!!!

I have the same problems these last few weeks with Cryptsy. Others coins too:
http://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/287wou/boycott_cryptsy/

The problem is that we depend on them. This is the only exchange with a good ANC volume.
If you dont switch exchanges, volume will always be biggest on craptsy.
515  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: June 15, 2014, 02:27:29 PM
Hi,

I have a problem:

1- I hibernate the laptop with Armory opened.
2- I back from hibernate.
3- Armory doesnt syncronize. (To syncronize again I need to restart Armory).

OS: Ubuntu 64

Nothing can be done about this. Some of Armory's stack is forced in the RAM through mlock. Hibernation copies the entire RAM into the swap partition. Since that would defeat mlock's purpose, mlock'ed memory is not copied imaged in on hibernation. Armory won't be able to recover from that.

Im happy to see this Smiley

marucoin works perfectly, but marucoin-mod gives me this. I've tried deleting all the .bin files.

Edit: It was a simple solution (it usually is). I just had to clear my tmp folder. There must've been a bunch of old junk in there screwing things up. So to any linux newbs having problems try:
cd /tmp/
sudo rm -r *
you call other linux newbs and you delete everything in /tmp including your unix sockets you NEED (or you have to restart you wm)?!

x13modold get 1.05Mh/s on HD5850.
It is not much different from previous.
is there better settings?
care to share?

-I 16 -w 64 -g 1
not use .conf file.
You must be overclocking the cards?! at default 725/1000 I get like 800 :S
at 765/1000 i also cant reach it (916kH/s)
tough i didnt try worksize 64 (currently 128) yet.

--- some time passed while testing ---

worksize 64 makes things horible (782) which is logical, due ot more overhead.

@ Skaia - Wouldn't mind seeing ANC on a less laggy exchange.  I don't hate cryptsy, it just is slow and clunky to navigate!!!
Not sure why they are taking so long with their wallet.   It is kinda annoying to update tho, have to start I2P network, wait 5 mins, start anoncoin wallet, close anoncoin wallet, then open anoncoin wallet again.

What a rigmarole for I2P.   Maybe I should try the other networks see if they are easier?

Yeah, I kind of agree here. I only use i2p for the anoncoin client too, and it is a bit annoying. If the developers added an i2p router to anoncoin, along with zerocoin, it would be a killer app.
I2P will be builtin (you can choose if you want builtin or external) once i2pd (see github) is usable.

If you only use I2P for ANC, why dont you just use ANC in clearnet as privacy is none of ur concerns.
