1022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / "Yes, Litecoin is faster than Bitcoin, but what else does it do?" on: October 24, 2012, 02:23:17 PM
"Yes, Litecoin is faster than Bitcoin, but what else does it do?"

I've hear this rebuttal in conversations about Litecoin and Bitcoin  everyday.  Well what if that is the only difference?  What's wrong with that?

As I move coins back and forth (on BTC-e for example) I get my LTC within minutes and my BTC within hours.  This is a HUGE DIFFERENCE!  This could be the only difference between these siblings and I'm ok with that.  As LTC services start to populate the cryptocoin community and beyond I'll take the faster coin everytime.  Especially if/when comparable services are in place

All around the world people move to the faster & more efficienct "anything."  It's adaptation.  Upgrade hardware/software, automobiles, homes, furnaces, appliances, spouses (just kidding).

The adaptation of Litecoin outside of a small group of us in the community is still a ways off.  But, we are working with the faster coin.  And I don't think that's a bad thing at all.  Even if it's the only meaningful difference.

Thats why I have my order delivered to my office, to eliminate as many possible screw ups as I can.

If I were spending 30k on a rig the size of a trashcan, I wouldn't be trusting delivery anywhere.  I'd buy a $150 ticket to BFL and fly it back home personally.

+1 Michael

Great strategy guys!
We do this with our competition too at conventions.  They hate it!
Good Luck!

I am not sure of what you are asking, I can give you a personal resume if you want, and tell more about me if that's what you are asking about..? I know I am new here and all that, but it does not mean my idea is good and will work well. I understand people have trust issues with ventures which offer you high return of interest and I will try to answer all questions which you ask me. I am not sure what else I can do for my credibility at this moment.

Site is coming up as soon. Have a few problems to solve with it but hopefully in 1 week or so.
Site will contain just short general info and a login page where member can log in, see some pictures of the goods and check their accounts.

My observations:
So you wrote the OP to make it sound like your group of traders have been around and doing this for a while

...We are a group of traders who operates mostly in Europe and Asia and we have been doing this 10+ years.
We are dealing with a wide range of products as valuable stones, spices(saffron, vanilla, etc),(green, white) tea and coffee, etc.
We already have a group of customers even though we are always looking for new customers to work with.

...We need these funds for 3 purposes, which are 1. we are expanding. 2. We want lower prices from our suppliers so we are increasing our stock and getting better wholesale prices. 3 we want to use bitcoin both as a payment method for our customers and for transferring money through some trouble some countries(like India).

Your list of 3 reasons for needing the funds strengthens this fact. Especially you #2 reason which implies you already have a supply, you just want to expand it to get better rates.

So we (as potential investors) see red flags when you state you are building a website yet somehow you have a supply, wholesaler relationships and customers established. How do you sell your products now? Brick & mortar, newspaper, eBay, Craigslist, word of mouth? If it is by an e commerce site then link that here. Tell us how you do business currently.

We see red flags when it's starting to sound so hard to provide more company details such as identity. Post wholesaler companies, post customers, post invoices... Something.

We see red flags when in your own words you worry about federal involvement like what happened to pirateat40 or GLBSE. By stating this yourself you are linking your business model to those 2 recent failures. I would advise you not to do that if you want to be viewed as legitimate.  Plus, why would you fear any heat from the higher powers? You are a trading company in tea and stones.  Why the anxiety?
1036  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: [Poll] What have you doing with the coins you mined? on: October 20, 2012, 02:48:38 PM
Apparently, the trend is "Hold" ..given 75% of coins aren't moving around the network, as per this article on Ars

I read this the other day too.  Thought it was interesting study. If I recall they even pointed to the majority of coins on the market today being traced to a 90,000 sell order over a year ago.

Can you see any solutions?

1038  Other / Off-topic / Re: Already delays in BFL shipment plans? on: October 20, 2012, 02:30:39 PM
"November / December" could also mean a November shipment and December shipment.

BFL has already said the first batch are NOT being assembled on their new equipment. So a bump from October to November makes sense. Especially if they are trying to release a large quantity of units in the first batch.  Then once the headache of the initial release is complete the next batch (first assembled with new equipment) can be assembled and sent out in a December shipment.

The pressure of releasing a large quantity of units to the initial investors and a follow-up shipment ASAP is probably weighty. There are A LOT of orders to get out and get out fast in order to balance the power among the mining community.

Each of the eight black squares on the board is a chip capable of computing 7.5 GH/s. Its theoretical maximum output is even higher, but the decision was made to limit the computing power of each chip to provide quieter operation.

This is what I'll be tracking. Reminds me of the old governors we had to put on cars that could go faster but weren't allowed.
Hack.
