Thanks for the replies everyone. I downloaded the bootstrap file and disabled secure messaging. It's still slow and the blockchain is at 48% downloaded, is that normal? With the way things have been going it'll still take weeks to get it to 100%. Anything else I can do?
I had to reload the blockchain a couple weeks back and had similar issues. just took forever. I ended up using @ffmad's blockchain backup posted here: http://shadowtalk.org/topic/359/wallet-update-1-3-1-0/7it not only had the blk0001.dat but also contained the "txleveldb" folder with the current .ldb databases. I believe a lot of the slow problems I was having revolved more around the txleveldb files I needed vs the blk0001.dat I could get straight from the bootstrap download here: http://shadow.cash/downloads/bootstrap.datI got a file not found error. Hmm, looks like the link isn't there anymore. I sent you and ffmad a PM to help get you on track.

Hello, can someone please let me know, How many shadow coins in total are to be released I believe there are nearly 6.5 million in circulation at this time?
Thanks
Shadow uses Proof of Stake (PoS) to secure the network. With that comes a 2% annual growth that goes to "stakers" who process transactions. So to answer your question about total coins to be released, the current supply is 6.4+ million and that grows by 2% annually.

I want to use SDC to buy Guldencoin anonymously, would that be possible without direct pairing.
Try shapeshift.io They use Shadow and you may be able to link Guldencoin through one of the other pairs

Concerning CryptoCoinExplorer: hyp.cryptocoinexplorer.comOver the last month or so, there has been more downtime then normal. This is due to server restarts by the server provider. Before the recent incidents, server restarts were a relatively rare occurrence. When CCE 3.5 was written last year, unattended restarts were not a major consideration. I do not run a startup script for CCE servers as I prefer to manually restart CCE 3.5 explorers. This is to ensure the startup goes smooth as there are a couple of issues, though rare, that could come up. Development of CCE 4 started a few months ago and the database loader is at a state that it could be deployed. The CCE 4 database loader is very restart friendly and also much more fault/error tolerant then the CCE 3.5 loader. In light of these recent events, I am going to write a modified version of the CCE 4 database loader that will work with CCE 3.5 databases. This will allow me to confidently use a server startup script to start the explorers unattended whenever there is a restart. The plan is to have this deployed over the weekend/early next week. My apologies for any inconvenience this has caused. No worries. Thanks for the update!

Are we looking at a good steady climb next week? Did the latest fork get announced yet?

I am looking for a new investment after another run in DRK/Dash.
I noticed that the price of SDC went up alot during the last week. What made the price go up that much in a pretty short time ?
Is there a up to date roadmap available ?
Why should i invest in SDC right now ? I would appreciate if someone could give me a short update of what is happening in SDC and what to expect in the nearest future from it.
Thanks.
Welcome! The start of the recent rise started with a vice.com article. It featured the Shadow Project working on a decentralized market. This came out soon after the Evolution market closed doors and ran away with users BTCFollowup publicity campaigns have kept the interest going over the last week. Roadmap and other news is in the OP

Where does the comparison table (illustrated in the video) between anonymous systems come from?
Is it related to the review/comparison of anon systems that is expected to be published at some point by the independent reviewer?
It says in the description it's based on bitcoin based currency. No I mean who does the rating process of how good each solution is, that in turn produces the chart? Ah I see. That'd be great if that is data from the review. I'm sure there is a concurrent review of competing solutions involved.

what the hell is this darkcoin merger? where did you hear that? Darkcoin wanted to merge a while back, i guess they wanted the dev talent here, but the offer was rejected by the community. thanks for the clear up http://shadowtalk.org/topic/252/darkcoin-proposal-statementOriginal Google doc file in comments section.

What is the latest with BBR integration? Is it still playing a big role in this project? Will it be the anon "on and off ramp" for transactions in supernet?

No, sorry you misunderstood. Not the dev team, the community. I was talking about the community posts and the lack of any technical or innovative discussion. For example, before the release of the new anon tech on the main-net a month ago everyone was talking about the day the devs promised the tech delivery and all the money they were going to make on the way to the moon. Nobody mentioned even once (until I did) that a hard fork will need to be implemented first before any new tech could be brought online. That announcement wasn't announced yet so the delivery date was just going to be another announcement about the hard fork and then once that was spread to the community and exchanges then another deadline would be made for the tech to be fully online at "so and so block". This got washed over with the typical posts of no importance and a lot of people coming to find out what Navajo was about probably didn't even see it. So then we have misinformed people hearing a bunch of grandiose dreams without any content or context. That will disenfranchise folks that invest time and possibly money into researching Navajo and we lose growing the user base. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'd love to get more meaningful conversation when I catch-up on posts with this topic, but that's what I've consistently seen the past 2 months or so. The devs have delivered each time and have a good road map.

I never got an answer so I'm bumping. Anyone know?
Looks to be correct LiteBit. The majority of PoW coins will only be mined in a few years (PoW rewards will be increasing with each block for a very long time). This large percentage should concern the premine, which I understand was created as " unspendable" until reaching a certain date. That's one of the interesting innovations with ZRC btw (the time locked premine). I'd expect that ZWGuy or someone from their team should step in to clarify decisively. Thanks @myagui. I read about the timed release of funds for various things here: https://www.ziftrcoin.com/what-is-ziftrcoin/coin-specifications/So 95.5% of the coins will be mined over the next 30 years, hence the big discrepancy in the distribution thus far.

Going by the activity on the blockchain the last XCH transaction was 3 days ago? http://xch.blockscan.com/I have a withdrawal hung up from Polo, just checking to make sure all is still well with the project. Looks like the block explorer is now offline. Any other XCH explorers out there?
