1401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I've been scammed 5.5BTC. What will you do when your Bitcoin get scammed? on: August 06, 2015, 07:04:10 PM
It's probably been said already (didn't read all the responses) but the best thing to do is to first take a few days away to cool off. Once you are not quite as upset, review what factors led you to get scammed in the first place.

I am not talking simply realizing someone tricked you, I am talking why did you fall for the trick? You need to analyze what was it about the offer that so overpowered you to ignore your good judgement. Did you have any doubts at all beforehand or did you 100% trust the situation you were getting into? If the answer is yes, than you would need to analyze this as well.

If you did have doubts beforehand, but went ahead anyway, you need to figure out why you chose that direction. Simply saying greed is not enough, you need to understand your mental processes better to be better equipped to avoid situations like this in the future. The worse thing would be to have this negative experience polarize you to the other extreme and simply assume everything is a scam and avoid good opportunities altogether.

1403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had to choose to put 5 BTC into 1 BTC investment, what would that be? on: August 05, 2015, 02:39:55 PM
I am sure you will find lots of people here with first hand knowledge of how to turn a 5 BTC investment into only 1 BTC, often in a matter of just a few hours/days. I will leave you in their capable hands as my expertise in these matters still leaves me with painful mental scars.
1404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any chance we can get some subforums? on: August 05, 2015, 02:35:41 PM
Howbout moving all Shitnero related threads straight to the garbage?

Great grave digging... This thread was more than 2 years old.. Although it may still be a good idea to get subsubforums for the larger coins and move all discussion there... And a "other" section for all the other garbage.

I think it's his hobby to bring dead threads back to life, I have seen quite a few being resurrected over the past few days. He is some sort of crypto-forum necromancer. Smiley

But to the topic at hand, I agree with what has been said that this is supposed to be Bitcoin Talk Forum, not altcoin talk. Be thankful that there is an alt section at all, so let's not push the hospitality of our hosts.

-snip-
AFAIK, this account was hacked after BitcoinTalk DB was stolen. Check the trust left by TomatoCage.

Alt of hacked account Mt.Gox Support. Be wary about doing business with this user as it may not be under the control of the original owner.

I had forgotten about that. Now I remember all the posts by Mt.Gox Support immediately after the forum re-opened. He must have used a very weak password for that account, and probably the MagicalTux account too. If MagicalTux shows any activity from now on it's definitely been hacked.

Another possibility could be that his former accounts were turned over to the Japanese authorities for investigative purposes?
1406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Science have proved that we are criminals rather than libertarians. on: August 05, 2015, 02:40:31 AM
Does Kentucky even have scientists?
1407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you spending your Bitcoin? on: August 05, 2015, 02:34:18 AM
I occasionally spend Bitcoin, I found it easier at times especially online. If I do spend Bitcoin I will usually replace what I spent, either ahead of or right after the purchase, so my balance always stays even in BTC.
1408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BUG] Satoshi Nakamoto moving his coins at this moment !!! on: August 05, 2015, 02:28:15 AM
About time he gets around to spending them. The sooner those mystery coins are in circulation the sooner they can get priced in the market and Bitcoin can take off. There is probably a lot of fear that if the market got too high in the future, say in the $10,000 per BTC range those millions would suddenly be shaken loose and the market dump.
1409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffet saids: “Stay Away From Bitcoin” on: August 05, 2015, 02:24:10 AM
I think warren buffet will change its mind the same way that bill gates has done it when he realised of the bitcoin potential

Yes, once he has bought as much as he can sub $300 he will suddenly have a change of heart. Wink
1410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffet saids: “Stay Away From Bitcoin” on: August 05, 2015, 01:49:05 AM
listen to the old man, stay away from bitcoin and sell them low... so he can buy them all  Grin

That's exactly what I was thinking when I read the title. After all, he didn't make his billions by announcing what he was doing ahead of time to everyone.
1411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Overstock CEO tweets about his new t0.com platform on: August 05, 2015, 01:46:31 AM
Looks pretty interesting, trades on the blockchain would be simply amazing... But I don't think this is it. Only time will tell, though Smiley Watching.

everything looks good if they just speak about it. action speaks louder than words. i want to see it with my own eyes before we take it for granted. and yes, only time will tell.

I agree with your sentiment about actions speaking louder than words, but at least it is being backed by someone with the bankroll to actually make it happen. Anyway, this type of news is always helpful to counter the negative Bitcoin seems to get a lot of lately.

I dont have the power meter on me right now, can anyone give me a power usage of 280x (can be full pc) hashing at around 515Mhash/s with smelters?

A lot, actually - 1 computer w/ 1 280x card burns 260W

(I think my cpu burns around 70W)  Cool

That is pretty close to my figures, I have 2 - 280x and the entire rig pulls ~550 watts from the wall. I believe it draws ~ 50 watts idle, so I would say about 250 watts per card is pretty close.

1414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did any of you made a killing with VNL? on: August 03, 2015, 09:31:40 PM
What more do you want trollboy? You stated "i bet its userbase not more than 50 people" and I just showed you in one small subset of the user base there are more than 50 users. By the way, what did I win? I suppose you won't even honor your wagers.

Also, for thinking 125 users is "extremely bad", I just jumped on a few other coins irc channels and think it is doing quite well. For example, Litecoin only has ~250 users for being out almost 4 years.

Anyway, unless you pay up the bet I am through feeding trolls.
1415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's worst mistake is comming to life before WW3 :( on: August 03, 2015, 08:57:29 PM
i heard things are about to change (sooner or later), what do you think about the future of bitcoins after ww3 (if its true and yes its true) ?

What's ww3, a convention or something?
1416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did any of you made a killing with VNL? on: August 03, 2015, 08:24:06 PM
Another shitcoin no one outside crypto communiy ever going to use, i bet its userbase not more than 50 people.

Well the vannillacoin irc has 125 people in it as I type this, so that's > 50.....

Haters going to hate.

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

Pretty simple IMHO, quit feeling sorry for him, he had plenty of opportunities to get help long before it got out of control. If he would have even attempted to bring in people who knew how to run a business properly and actually let them do their jobs, he wouldn't be facing this. He actively covered things up and when he brought people in to help, he wouldn't let them see copies of the books, etc. As one of the former employees stated, it was more like he was looking for a fall guy than actual help to get things in order.

So, what does this mean, time to buy more?

Once zero-time gets released we should start a PR campaign worthy of attention.
The only problem I have with Vanillacoin is the solo dev aspect. I'm perfectly fine with John being anon, it's just that if John could find it to form a backup dev team it would give more assurance to us investors. I'm guessing a bunch of devs have already volunteered.

Satoshi -> btc
John -> VNL

So does that mean 0.00000001 VNL is 1 John? Smiley
