1421  Other / Politics & Society / Re: American Dentist Pays $50G's, Kills Cecil The Lion on: August 02, 2015, 03:52:08 PM
I hope this subhuman is about to be executed.

Why you are blaming the dentist? He was mislead by the local guide, to believe that the hunting permits were in order. The local guide is the one to be blamed. He pocketed the money himself, and then failed to recognize Cecil. The guide was the one who pointed out the lion to the hunter. And none of the posters here are mentioning the guide.

Bullshit. No way to defend seeing your guides having to lure a lion a half mile away out of a protected area. If what they were doing was legal why the need to lure it so far away? He could have simply shot it in the National Park. No way he would be so ignorant to not notice that.

Update: Also read they removed a collar from Cecil as well. This is getting ludicrous to even pretend he thought what he was doing was legal.

Dentist: So are you sure it's ok to kill this lion, I mean he has a collar on.
Guide: Its ok man, here in Africa all lions have collars...
1422  Other / Politics & Society / Re: American Dentist Pays $50G's, Kills Cecil The Lion on: August 02, 2015, 03:50:23 PM
No need to get emotional. Hunting is perfectly legal in many of the African nations. Hunting licenses are not cheap, costing at least $5,000 to $50,000 depending on the species. That said, a large part of the revenues from issuing these hunting licenses goes towards the conservation programs. Therefore, recreational hunting is beneficial for conservation.

So, how does that align with the fact that they lured the lion out of a National park area, which would be a presumed conservation area?

I don't mind hunting and live in an area where hunting is big. It's one thing to go out in the woods and hunt an animal you intend to eat, such as deer hunting, etc. In this case the guy went to a protected area, had his guides lure the animal out (obviously they knew what they were doing was already illegal or else why the need to lure it a half mile away?) and then shot at it. Seems like he wasn't even that good as they had to track the wounded lion down the next day to finish it off.

There is no way this cowardly action benefits any type of conservation program for the protection of rare animals.

Is it just the ZTEX boards or are are there plans to develop a dedicated miner? From my understanding the ZTEX are just a  way to prototype something before mass producing a dedicated miner or is this incorrect?

Thanks
1424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TUTORIAL] How to Earn 1 Bitcoin in a Week on: August 01, 2015, 11:49:41 PM
Well I have been trying this for over a week with not very good results. Still hoping for some big moves in my coins, but except for one good pump, I been lucky to cash out with small profit.

The small initial investment does not allow for too much buying and holding without risking the entire investment, as even though the OP suggested coins with volumes of .1 or higher, this can literately evaporate and you end up being stuck holding useless coins. A higher initial investment would allow purchasing of coins values at more than sub 100 satoshis, which hopefully would be past the flash in a pan stage and actually have some future.

Anyway, I still have some funds I am playing around with on Yobit, so who knows, maybe I will get lucky.

As to those who think this is somehow attacking or criticizing the OP, I think we are just testing the viability of his theory. Myself, I am not doing it to prove or disprove anything, but merely doing it for the fun and intrigue of seeing if such a feat is possible. I find no harm in reporting my findings, as I feel truth is neutral. If the truth conflicts with your version of things, it is you who has the problem and not the truth.

The truth in this case is several people have attempted this, and with the exception of the OP, no one has reported back that they managed to turn faucet dust into 1 BTC, in one weeks time, by trading on YoBit.

Why when i try mine this coin my cpu work until 100 % ?

Don't cpu mine imho, it's not cost efficient and you will only get dust.

Okay thanks for your info

GPU mining is probably the only effective way currently and we will soon have FPGA mining which will be beat GPUs in efficiency.

Do you have any more information on the FPGA mining? I seen on the Vanillacoin forums John messing around with MojoV3 and ZTEX 1.15y boards, but it seems to be in development stage as of yet. Will it be announced ahead of time when this will be ready to go and what hardware is needed, or will the advantage go to just those in the know?

I spend 10+ hours everyday on my laptop.

You are too young to waste your life away spending 10+ hours a day on your laptop. Go ahead and continue investigating how to earn bitcoin, with your programming skills and joining a signature campaign I believe you can achieve your goal, but don't forget to go outside and live life. You could easily cut your online/computer time in half and still meet your stated goals. Don't turn into a cave dweller, get some sunshine. Smiley

for ppl having trouble watching the vid from forum, here's the youtube link;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4Abhq313_8

Thanks for the working link mate. Smiley

Edit: I assume there is no audio? Also, the video shows mining in the wallet, is this going to be viable again or was it trying to describe something else? Without a narration it was hard to understand exactly what all was being presented. I get that zero time was instantaneous versus the normal transfer, but some of the other parts seemed to hint that something else was being explained.
1428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin 2 months after Halving. Where do you see the Price at? on: August 01, 2015, 02:58:08 AM
Heh people posting say about 6 bucks after 60 days from halving more or less from what I can tell here in the msg area

the poll says 15 bucks Smiley

well I hope the quick pick folk on the poll is correct don't ya know Smiley

Well the poll seems awfully optimistic if you ask me. Smiley

Not that I would mind seeing $15, I think I will stick to my $6 prediction.
1429  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: thinking about making a bitcoin altcoin exchange site, is that legal? on: July 30, 2015, 04:23:36 PM
Regardless if you accept fiat or not, if you are serious about this it would be worth your while to get the advice of a lawyer in your locale, I assume Canada?

In the end you will be accepting deposits of something that has value, can be converted into fiat if not on your exchange certainly on others, and will be maintaining accounts on behalf of your customers. This could open you up to all sorts of legal reporting requirements as well as expose you to various liabilities.
1430  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie questions on: July 30, 2015, 04:10:50 PM
I tried faucets for almost 6 months, not expecting to profit but to buy games. I roughly got 20 USD (I do not really know, I bought about 6 or 7 games, each 5 USD or less). I would have got more getting a (second) job, as people already told you (of course it was not full-time, I have a real-life job).

The best you can do with faucets is to setup a rotator (a list with links to faucets, with your referral inside), perhaps you would still need to spend time keeping it up-to-date (removing dry faucets, adding current top-paying sites) to not discourage your visitors and, promoting it (convincing people to actually use it). It is probably not going to be worth the time invested, either.

Exactly, even if you are still a kid, you could offer to mow someones lawn for probably $20 and it would maybe take you ~ 1 hour. You could be gaming the same day versus waiting months and months.

If lawn mowing isn't an option there are probably plenty of other things to try, walk peoples dogs, wash cars, paint, etc. No matter your locale, I am sure you could find something more productive to earn bitcoin and/or money than trying to do faucets. Besides just being a generally unproductive and unfit way of earning money, if you have to pay for electricity and Internet, you would not even recoup those expenses trying to utilize faucets.
1431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you used Bitcoin as Real money to buy Real/physical goods? on: July 30, 2015, 03:59:15 PM
I bought some stuff on NewEgg with Bitcoin. It was ok, but not necessarily too different than ordering the traditional way. I guess if you didn't have a credit card or bank account it would make this more attractive as you could still order online.

The one thing I noticed and did not like was the fact that by paying with bitcoin you basically give up any return rights. The best you can hope for it a NewEgg gift card, where you would need to buy something else from NewEgg. I suppose you could possibly sell it to someone else in order to get your Bitcoin or cash back, but this would be an additional hassle and you would probably have to sell if for a slight loss. i.e. $200 gift card for $175. I assume this is probably due to them using Bitpay as their processor, so they are not handling Bitcoin directly.

While it is great to see merchants accepting Bitcoin, until it becomes a true two-way currency I see it continuing to having an uphill battle with mainstream adoption. Once you can get your Bitcoin refunded I think the game will change.
1432  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how do i know my private key? on: July 30, 2015, 03:38:33 PM
If you are truly looking for help and do not want to lose your coins I would highly suggest you provide more detailed information so members of the community can assist you. So far you have provided only enough information to lead most people here to believe you may soon fall victim to a scam.

You can start with telling us which site you are trying to use. You do not need to give any personal information, but a link to the site would be useful. Then perhaps someone can assist you with what you are trying to accomplish. As many people have already pointed out, giving someone your private key is basically giving them any coins associated with that key.
1433  Economy / Speculation / Re: 21 millions bitcoiners on: July 30, 2015, 03:27:21 PM
Remember if bitcoin becomes too expensive to use (eg. a satoshi is worth more than a cent) there can always be alternatives like litecoin for the cheaper transactions and bitcoin to store the wealth.

Well that would mean one bitcoin would be worth more than $1 million. I thought that they could always add more decimal places if that were ever to happen.
1434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [VNL] Vanillacoin 0.3.1 | Hybrid TCP/UDP | ECDHE | O(1) | DarkPP/MinerPP/CoinPP on: July 30, 2015, 03:02:32 PM

So I never understood the whole need to promote this was angel investor backed anyway. I don't necessarily think this admission is a good thing, makes me wonder why John felt the need to put this on the list of Vanillacoin's features early on in the coins life, and the later announcement the angel investors approved another year of development. Why not just state the truth all along. Once one falsehood is revealed, makes people wonder what else was mis-stated, to be polite.

This does not mean I am giving up on Vanillacoin, but it is a bit unsettling to say the least.
The angel investors simply chose to reveal themselves is all. I see mystery as integral part of the project and a positive that will contnue for the foreseable future. Cool

Thank you for your support.

Well even though it might be claimed it was a harmless "little white lie" type of thing, I would feel more comfortable with all the facts about Vanillacoin staying unadulterated. I still think it has potential to become one of the top 10, if not even higher coins, and just think keeping things as upfront as possible would be the best policy. I do not think people would have taken Vanillacoin any less seriously if it was stated as a self-funded endeavor, or even if there were no mention of the funding at all.

I am glad you are able to devote so much time and effort to your creation and have thought one of the big attractions to the coins was lack of bold claims and promises of getting rich overnight as we see so many other alts try to do. The idea of a hidden gem amongst all the junk out there, making small but steady improvements, and not making claims that couldn't be backed up were all part of this allure. While it is certainly not the most egregious of acts, I feel it did blemish this untarnished reputation Vanillacoin had going for it, no matter how minor. The new car got its first scratch type of thing.

Anyway, this leads me to one of the other worries I have about Vanillacoin's future. Not taking anything away from your excellent work John, but have you ever given thought to bringing on more people to the project? Right now it is all you, and pretty much Vanillacoin lives and dies by your hand, or more accurately involvement. If something should happen to you, or if you were to get bored and move on, etc., Vanillacoin would go the way of so many other failed coins. I hope this does not become the case, but I think a team would inspire more confidence in the long-term success of the coin.
1435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Banks now targeting Litecoin as well on: July 30, 2015, 02:41:27 PM
I highly doubt the explicit mention of both Bitcoin and Litecoin in any official documentation as well. I could maybe see the specific mention of Bitcoin originally, but if the banks are now broadening their definitions they wouldn't just add one more coin to the verbiage of the contract, but would phrase it something like "Do you plan on dealing in cryptocurrencies, i.e. Bitcoin?".

Banks and other financial institutions have a staff of lawyers who are experts at making sure all legal loopholes are covered. They wouldn't open themselves up to liability by covering only two cryptocurrencies, and later down the road have someone claim "you never said anything about dogecoin" or any of the multitude of other cryptocurrencies.

Angel Investor Meeting

I have met with the Angel Investors. They are pleased with the results of the project and have decided to fund a 2nd round of full time development. This means the project will be able to remain at the same pace of development for at least 365 days from today.

Thank you for your support.

1439  Economy / Economics / Re: Number of shop customers paying in BTC / gross sales in shops (brick and mortar) on: July 29, 2015, 08:06:41 PM
There are not any places near me that accept bitcoin directly so it does seem to be only catching on in large cities or areas know to be more technologically savvy. An under-appreciated area I thought bitcoin would do well would be at colleges. If someone could get the campus bookstores and coffee shops to look into it I think it would take off with the added benefit of having more young adults become familiar with it and spread the word as they move on into the working careers.
