I've been playing around with some shitcoins on ETH doing pooling and "mining" and such and just withdrew one of my shitcoins from the mining pool.

The value of it was $220, withdrawing cost $20 in gas fees leaving me with $200.

To move those shitcoins into ETH it gave an estimate of $10 in gas fees. Not sure what it would then cost to transfer those ETH to an exchange so I could trade them for normal money (BTC).

Unfortunately I was never able to claim my BSV before they died.

I went out of my way to try to do it the first day but could find no working wallet.

Much like trying to mine Bitcoin from the wallet back in 2010, I got discouraged and moved on to other things when it didn't work.

link from Drudge:
https://metro.co.uk/2021/08/03/people-recovering-from-covid-may-have-substantial-drop-in-intelligence-15030236/

Anecdotally, at least two recovered people who were hospitalized with covid told me that they are in a mental fog several months after release with memory being significantly affected.
This sucks.

Re bitcoin-I feel that if "they" would not allow bitcoin to blossom, we would end up like 20ies Germany, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.
A clear fork in the road. Some want to take the road that leads to hyperinflation. We should take the other path and take as many people as possible with us.

El Salvador may become overwhelmed by refugees from the US.

OMG "covid is not real" people... do they still exist?  Grin

You wish. The "the PCR tests need to be set to 20 cycles so as not to give false positives if they're anywhere over 30 while the FDA was recommending 40 cycles" people do exist.

The..."yes, the flu still exists" people do exist.

The..."just because you had a positive test for COVID or the flu labeled as COVID a month before you died does not necessarily mean you 'died of COVID', especially when they found that 85% of people who 'died from COVID' had 2 or more comorbidities" people do exist.

But don't let me get in your way...we're just all conspiracy theorists thinking that it's 5G microchips. Go on with your day. Get back to your MSM so you can be frightened by what is likely mostly the flu with some people getting COVID while the "Delta" variant is just reactions to the vaccine that the CDC is not allowing doctors to report (fact).

Get your booster shots every 2 weeks so you can live in society and blame the "pandemic" on "unvaccinated" people who have been vaccinated at least once in their lives but are just not vaccinated to your vaccine standards (be careful, if you miss a jab you may fall into the category of "unvaxxed" and need to walk in the gutters to protect those on the sidewalks from breathing in your air).

Bitcoin doing nicely while I was gone from here.

OT: Went on 2wk vacation abroad.
There is a LOT of infection going on (anecdotally based on relatives info).
Being vaxxed does not seem to make an effect on being infected, but probably has an effect on severity (hopefully).
People lost the sense of following the rules though and 50% are flaunting mask rules in public transport (subway, etc) despite (theoretically) a potential of being fined.
Those 50% are wearing the mask, but on the neck, lol
The fine is $60 equivalent-a slap on the wrist if you ask me.

Conclusion: I think that at some point almost all will get infected (in the range of 75-90%) and, hopefully, vaccines would help with reducing mortality and serious effects-that's what the main purposes should be anyway, but people would get upset by the fact that current vaccines (even the best) are not as clear-cut as we all hoped them to be.

1)I think they are a clearcut short term solution that would knock this off the map of the world if the world had a 95% vax rate.

2) I think none of us know what the long term effects of this vax will do to our bodies. It will take 10 years to find out.

3) I think more than 2 billion people will resist the vax and not get it as they fear point number 2.

4) Ten years from now I think people will still argue over this. Even thought the math will show a clear cut difference in death rates for the vaxed vs the un vaxed.

My guess was vax is smarter then no vax.

So I walked over to the barrel of guns grabbed one and played a round of russian roulette so to speak and vaxed.

I have zero problem with anti vaxers as long as they admit no vax is going to the other barrel of guns and playing russian roulette so to speak 🗣

which is the better wheel of death 💀 to play?

i hope vaxing. I want to be around in ten years to see how much my btc is worth.

I'm surprised Bitcoin people still believe the media when the media has lied so much about Bitcoin to fit their agenda.

Get a vax, save the world is just the same as Bitcoin is only used by criminals.

They already admitted that their PCR tests are BS, that it can't differentiate between Flu and COVID. Did people actually believe that the Flu went to 0% last year?

The pandemic goes away when people stop watching the news.

I don't care if people take the vax and injure themselves long term but I do care when people who support freedom do that to themselves. We need those people to survive this whole thing, not just the politicians.

Reading through the lawsuit against Tether detailing its long history of moving money all over the place it reads like a series of moving money from one institution to the next as the institution grows uneasy with having Bitcoin money on its account. So they are constantly moving it all over the place until someone gets tired of them. Every second and third tier money transmitter starts blocking them, they're caught in an ancient system whose gatekeepers are trying to keep them out.

I would not be surprised that they don't have 100% reserves but their biggest problem is having a place to put the money. In the end, they will exhaust all resources. The best thing they could do is do a proof of burn. Where they literally have a neutral third party with cameras verify that they burn the dollars that come in (though illegal) and replace each one with a USDT.

This is crazy absolutely nuts

Maybe some people never seen a microwave over or what 2.4 GHz can do.
Have device close to brain on left and right side is absolutly nuts

Ok so I presume you don't drive a car but ride a horse instead? You don't watch TV or listen to the radio because these devices emit harmful radiation? Internet is also dangerous because your wifi is frying your brain while you're typing this message? Don't forget about your phone and it's harmful GSM and 4G waves. Not even mentioning your house made of harmful concrete, fillers and plaster? Clothes, food etc etc etc  Grin

hahaha exactly and its like this Smiley

My aunt had a book of old 1920s New York Times articles that I perused. One article went something like this:
"I was out on the countryside one day and saw one of these newfangled automobiles come flying down the road, dust flying in the air, making a loud noise as it approached a herd of sheep crossing the road. The auto could not stop in time crashing directly into this herd of sheep sending them flying at least 2 stories into the air. It was quite the site of mayhem and death. The farmer was left devastated. As for me, I'll stick with my trusty bicycle."

At the time cars could move at about 25mph max. We all know now what the experience would be if we were in a car coming up on a herd of sheep at 25mph. But back then nobody knew, so all they could do was believe the NYT reporter.

So I finally settled the wrecked kia optima a black 2020 model with about 5300 miles on it.

Allstate considered it totaled and paid me an exceeding high number to to low miles and used car price points being very high.

Kia is that short or code for Lambo ?

J/K  Cheesy

Nah too old for that but I did get a very nice Hyundai  Sonata limited .

With a shit ton of nice safety features, I took a 3 year lease I actually have more cash to buy some cheap coin.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5etEYZ_awt0

this is  it  pretty nice.  I got a deep blue color

Unless you put more than 24k per year on a vehicle, you can't really go wrong with a lease these days.  You only pay sales tax when you make the monthly payment and you're only paying interest on the value of the car minus the residual.  I'm just finishing up a 3 year least and deciding whether I want to buy it out or go for a newer model... they've beefed up the engine a bit and this may be the last time I'll ever be able to buy a gasoline-powered vehicle.

I tend to buy a 10 year old car with cash. By doing this with every car it feels like I am getting a lot of upgraded features with every new purchase.

I paid $11k for my last car, which is close to what I've paid for most of my cars. I've spent about $1k for repairs in the past year. If I sold it now, I would be able to sell it for close to $10-11k (actually, more as I got a great deal thanks to COVID).
69  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goldman Sachs Charged in Foreign Bribery Case and Agrees to Pay Over $2.9 Billio on: July 15, 2021, 02:22:36 PM
I wonder why I didn't know about this?

How does this news "slip between the cracks"?

Are you guys slacking too or was it posted and I missed it?

The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (Goldman Sachs or the Company), a global financial institution headquartered in New York, New York, and Goldman Sachs (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (GS Malaysia), its Malaysian subsidiary, have admitted to conspiring to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) in connection with a scheme to pay over $1 billion in bribes to Malaysian and Abu Dhabi officials to obtain lucrative business for Goldman Sachs, including its role in underwriting approximately $6.5 billion in three bond deals for 1Malaysia Development Bhd. (1MDB), for which the bank earned hundreds of millions in fees.  Goldman Sachs will pay more than $2.9 billion as part of a coordinated resolution with criminal and civil authorities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and elsewhere.

I just watched "The Kleptocrats" documentary, otherwise never would have know about this.

Its nice seeing Ballsacks getting their just deserts!

edited documentary name duh.

The more I dig into the weeds the more I am rethinking the idea of "politicians are the criminals". I used to agree, as in...the politicians are voting away our rights and taking our money to spend in a non consensual way which is criminal in and of itself.

But now I'm seeing that it's literal criminal organisations that are involved in our governments. Murders, pedophilia, human trafficking, all of it.

I think the only solution is to create a fair, decentralised solution for governance such that we can do with governments what we're doing with fiat currency. We're giving an alternative such that over time people can choose the alternative until eventually the old system collapses under its own corruption.

I think the biggest piece of the puzzle to make it all come crumbling down would be to have a decentralised solution to police protection. I have installed Guardian Circle which is a move in the right direction but I think something better can be created. Once people realise that they can replace the police (who are protecting the politicians, not the people) with a decentralised security force (at a much lower price), then the politicians lose all power.

It's not a matter of if, but when...we will need a better alternative.

Take 1g of Vitamin C every hour all day. That knocked out my COVID in a day.

Uh ... I know there's no such thing as Vitamin C overdose, but that's twice more than the maximum recommended (10 grams per day, some articles say 2 grams per day is the max without side effects) on some studies I read. I just take 1g a day and I'm doing fine. Maybe 2 if I don't forget, and just your typical costco / kirkland brand too.

Any more than 5 to 10 and you're likely to just waste it.

But then again, COVID is a new thing, perhaps that's what is needed ...

Someone with far more expertise than I about vitamins mentioned about doing it once in an hour due to how it is absorbed by the body and how quickly it loses effect (or something along those lines). Basically spreading it out throughout the day is the key.

@T3naciousC
Keep selling your $btc at a discount to the big boys so you can buy it back later at a serious premium 😁

So much extreme bullish stuff happening to #bitcoin  nowadays and pleb doesn't seem to look further that number go up or number go down on a 5 minute chart...

twitter source says about 90% of china's active btc resources (from miners and traders) are said to be shipped abroad or sold. I guess there is still some range-chopping going on by the last 10%. Once we are through this, btc should go up again. 21st of July is the date the CCP chose as the deadline, afaik. Anybody mining/trading btc will be in big trouble over there in china.
Miners that transfer their hardware to foreign countries (hello, El Salvador...) would profit from the difficulty drop, thanks to their political leaders.
China, you failed.

Some happenings around here, as well: I got an ear infection yesterday, developed a sore throat, mild fatigue, sweating and shortness of breath today.
Covid anitgen saliva test at home was positive, so i went to a testing station, where they tested negative two times swabbing the nostrils. That makes sense, yeah  Roll Eyes
They told me they won't do PCR testing on a throat sampled swab, because i don't have fever or dry cough.
Wish me luck, i'll go to rest now and re-test via saliva sample tomorrow.
The infection numbers in my area are very low, so it must have been a lot of bad luck if i actually caught sars-cov-2, though.

Take some Vitamin D and Zinc in the morning. Take 1g of Vitamin C every hour all day. That knocked out my COVID in a day.

China is working on their own shitcoin.

They needed to get rid of Bitcoin from their country before they could begin on their shitcoin.

They may even be hoping to do a copy of Bitcoin and release it globally akin to how they take normal decent products and think they can just replicate it and sell it themselves for every other product in the world.

If they're smart, they shut down the Bitcoin miners and they confiscate them to be used as their new shitcoin miners.

Update on Panama.

I just spoke with one of the guys that is working with the Panamanian congressman about the Bitcoin legislation. This guy is the guy that everyone in the Bitcoin community knows and he's definitely the right guy to be involved. We were all surprised that the congressman didn't reach out to anyone because someone would have known.

He tells me that they've started working on it but it definitely won't be as good as the El Salvador legislation. And it's being proposed by an independent party member so the ruling party will not want to give him a win so the final law will likely look like shit.

But at the very least, they're including actual bitcoiners that are using bitcoin on a daily basis so it will have some intelligence behind it.

How could you do this???

Quote
In a remote hearing today, a judge said that “Cøbra,” the pseudonymous operator of Bitcoin.org, must display a notice on his website about the judgment, pay at least £35,000 ($48,600) in legal costs and remove the whitepaper from his site. Cøbra lost the case through a default judgment; he mounted no defense to preserve his pseudonymity.
https://decrypt.co/74657/bitcoin-inventor-whitepaper-lawsuit-craig-wright-cobra

This will force many to come out of anonymity now.

This is how CSW works he pecks away at official or pseudo official things that will name him as Satoshi and then claim that as evidence that he is. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a certificate for a star named "Satoshi" somewhere next to his suspicious law cert.

I think his game plan is clear.

He wants to make a legal claim to the fact he is "Satoshi", and then he will have the court issue an order that the BTC (and BCH and BSV devs) make a change to the code that allows him to access the keys to the "Satoshi coins" on his list.

He got a lot of money from his investment group on the promise that he was Satoshi. He was supposed to prove it by 2020 demonstrating that he had access to the million or so bitcoins owned by Satoshi.

I assume that he's able to still stay legally compliant with his contract as long as he "proves" that he is Satoshi. Everyone's assumption when first hearing about it was that he had all of those bitcoins and that they were locked until 2020 and that he would then sell it. Those that actually believed his story anyway.
75  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 27, 2021, 04:24:26 PM

The best theory I have seen (which CSW sued the guy to take the post down so obviously he's above the target) is that Hal Finney was the brains behind Bitcoin using his genius brain to put together all of the pieces created by so many smart cypherpunks before him. He enlisted the help of Dave Kleinman for his expertise as well they were both suffering from the same life threatening disease. While Finney did most of the background work Dave took on the Satoshi character understanding the implications of what they were doing. He knew that he needed to be completely anonymous so he asked his friend Craig Wright for some pointers on how to hide his identity very well. He then took on the "public" persona of Satoshi and was the Satoshi that we all know. He set up the first few nodes while keeping anonymous, bringing in Finney's nodes early on as a non-anonymous node though they likely were working together on everything before that.

Finney and Kleinman eventually died. Craig Wright, knowing that Kleinman was Satoshi tried desperately to get Kleinman's computers and USB drives from his family after his death. Also, it would make sense that CSW knew who Satoshi was otherwise he would not be so willing to come out and claim that he is Satoshi. The real Satoshi could always prove him wrong otherwise. CSW also likely knew some specifics about how Kleinman stayed anonymous so he was able to put some pieces together to make it look like it was him all along.

CSW can try to sue me for posting this but good luck finding me.

... CSW and Kleinman are not nearly in Satoshi's league

... it's like comparing high school math teachers to Euler

I played the role of the public face for the first seastead. The engineer that built it is a literal rocket scientist. I only had to know enough about it to explain to the general population how it worked while he actually used his engineering knowledge to build it and come up with many future designs.

I know enough engineering as it was my major going into college before switching to computer science to be comfortable in explaining things but nowhere close to the detailed nuances that "seatoshi" is able to come up with in very little time.

I can imagine Kleinman and Finney had a similar dynamic.
76  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 26, 2021, 12:28:31 AM
So what's the deal with all the price fuckery lately? I suspect this has something to do with it.

This is where all those shorts are coming from. These kind of arseholes only seem to pop up in bear markets, god knows how long it will take to get rid of this prick.

Look at the volume on bitfinex for the last 24 hours

What if...the president of El Salvador wants to push the price of bitcoin down to $30k just in time to start sending out the $30 worth of BTC to people.

That way, when the price then goes up to $40-50k people will see that their $30 is now $40-50 and then discover the potential of hodling bitcoin.

He'd have to keep it down for a while though as I assume the $30 giveaway will take place over months.

Let's say Satoshi was a group, it would seem there is only one spokeperson who posted on the forums, as the posts are consistent up until he or she or they disappeared. So maybe he was working with a group but the main character is the only one posting as a single entity.

But doesn't explain why they haven't moved their stash of BTC though! Smiley

There are two simple explanations for that:

1. Satoshi died.
2. He deleted access to the wallets / never had access to them / mining computer nuked / did not care for value.

It's quite possible someone has more than enough money to resist the urge trying to cash out a few billion dollars worth of bitcoin, but that's unlikely.

The best theory I have seen (which CSW sued the guy to take the post down so obviously he's above the target) is that Hal Finney was the brains behind Bitcoin using his genius brain to put together all of the pieces created by so many smart cypherpunks before him. I know, conspiracy theories and ghost stories are going to spring up now... 🥱
McAffee was "posting" while in prison.

Also, they probably don't let you post from prison. He was probably telling his wife what to post for him.

If he actually did die, she'll probably try to create some sort of story from his social media accounts to commemorate his death.
