381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Google too closing crypto ads on: March 15, 2018, 06:35:28 AM
They are banning fraudulant ico ads i guess, with the massive acceptance and upgradation of everything to blockchain, it will not take long before platforms like facebook and google will also implement blockchain technology in their platforms as well.
True. Blockchain technology is here to stay and its not going anywhere after it has proved how revolutionary it can be not just in financial field, but almost in any field where it is used. It can surely be that google might be banning fraud and scam ICO’s ads to prevent investors from losing their funds as recently there was news from US government and other governments on implementing strict regulations on launch of ICO’s and new projects to secure people from scam and ponzi schemes and to avoid people losing their hard earned money.
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What now? on: March 15, 2018, 06:03:17 AM
I never was interested in the technical part. I'm in it for the money. Nothing else.
Though you are in for the money, you must also make efforts to understand the technical part, as the technology of a coin or token affects its prices significantly. Ethereum was of quite low price, when it was launched, but when people started understanding about the smart contract technology that ethereum platform has, it started getting more project and ICO’s on its platform, which lead to increase in its price significantly. You must have knowledge about the project or company you are investing it and also learn of what utility it is because utility decides the demand and demand decides the price of the crypto currency. Therefore, learning is also necessary besides investing.
383  Other / Off-topic / Re: will bitcoin give surprise, ?? on: March 01, 2018, 08:39:42 AM
yes it will give surprice by reaching 15000$ till march-18 as many people expecting sidfe way move.
I believe bitcoin has already given us number of surprises in the past as well as the market value of bitcoin was once 20k $ too in the last year. Looking at the present situation, I am very much hopeful that comings days will surely bring some positive and good news for all of us for we all are waiting for so long. The market value will once again increase and will break all the past records too.
384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Ripple (XRP) ever go back to $3 again? Can it recover? on: February 28, 2018, 07:32:14 PM
When everybody will sell XRPs which they bought for 2-3$ XRP price will grow up. Maybe this summer - not yearlier
Even i bought 700XRP when it was at 3.3$ but I'm still holding because I see Ripple will rise again sooner or later but it will go back to $3+.
Why do you guys always end up buying coins at the top, and joining the bandwagon of FOMOs. If you cannot buy at the bottom and wait for it to get pumped, then it is not realistic catching from the top.

Still, I would not put so much trust in ripple, but if all you are looking for in a coin is just the profit without considering the project itself and all that it entails, then it is your choice and I wish you best of luck holding your centralized coin.
385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Future Of Litecoin 2018 on: February 28, 2018, 07:13:23 PM
So….. I have been researching  , to understand what it is, it’s roots, how it works and how it fits into e-commerce.

Anyway, my research suggests this is a good investment as….it has a faster block time, introduction of Litepay and it has been stable for the last 3 years…..

Therefore I would like to invest in this coin so I'd like to know what 2018 will bring.

This guide helped me during my research: www.cointelligence.com/content/ultimate-litecoin-guide
Litecoin should have a great year considering most of the development going on for it. It is your choice, and you can make the decision, but it is a good coin, but I would consider adding bitcoin mostly to it, knowing that no matter what, litecoin is usually most times in the shadow of bitcoin. But if you are thinking of adding litecoin to your portfolio, then please go ahead. You would not regret it.
386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook against bitcoin? on: February 28, 2018, 04:39:19 PM
Because they believe that Facebook prohibits bitcoin and ICos and other cryptocurrency
The new Facebook policy will not allow announcements of known digital currency exchanges or initial offers of currencies.
Is it to avoid fraud or false advertising? That's why?
Really! You already answered your own question and still asking again. Facebook made it plain and clear the reason why they had to halt the advertisement of ICOs and I totally see reason with it. Why would anyone consider that as being against bitcoin? Moreover, we are talking cryptocurrency in general here. I do not know why sometimes, some people just like picking things that are not worthy of being picked.
387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How I fucked up and turned ~600 BTC into 200 BTC on: February 28, 2018, 02:31:25 PM
Before I tell you how I fucked up, let me just say I am very aware of just how many newbie mistakes I made and how stupid I was. By all means, please feel free to laugh at my disgusting choices... the least my stupidity can do is serve as humor.

Back in May/June, I bought around 600 Bitcoin at around 2700 USD. I'll let you do the math on how much that cost me. But I believed in Bitcoin. The original plan was just to hold them forever. I was pretty convinced Bitcoin was going to go to $10K by 2018. Had I just left the Bitcoins in my wallet and done nothing, I would be pretty happy right now at $4000 per coin.

But no. I decided to try my hand at trading altcoins. I started off with Siacoin (this was back when there was hype around Siacoin).

Put in 10 bitcoins into Sia, at 450 satoshis... Next day, Siacoin went up to 600 satoshis. I was like "Cool, this is easy, I just made a couple thousand dollars in a day."

Next day I put in 20 Bitcoins into Antshares (now re-branded as NEO). Three days later, it went up as well. "Cool, I just made 10 grand in three days! All I have to do is buy altcoins low and sell high. So easy. As long as I HODL and don't sell in panic and just wait it out until it rises, everything should be fine."

You can guess where this story is heading... there's no happy endings here.

Basically, over the course of June, I invested pretty much ALL of my Bitcoins into alts, thinking they were going to keep going up and up. It was pure greed. Of course I should've just kept it in Bitcoin. Of course I should've done my research on some of these altcoins. Of course I should've not bought it at the very fucking peak before all the altcoins crashed.

Curious to see how badly I fucked up?

Here's a list = all the altcoins I bought, how much BTC I spent on them, and how much BTC they're worth now. Feel free to roast me, cause you could not get more stupid than this (especially putting that much money and faith into some of these altcoins).

Siacoin = 246.82 BTC → 72.94 (minus 70%)
CloakCoin = 139.27 BTC → 41.59 (minus 70%)
Factom = 120.72 BTC → 44.17 BTC (minus 63%)
Monero = 18.76 BTC → 12.96 BTC (minus 31%)
BitShares = 13.18 BTC → 4.54 BTC (minus 66%)
Crown = 10.26 → 4.05 BTC (minus 61%)
ZCash = 9.77 BTC → 4.13 BTC (minus 58%)
Golem = 9.13 BTC → 2.7 BTC (minus 70%)
GameCredits = 8.49 BTC → 3.1 BTC (minus 63%)
LBRY Credits = 5.71 BTC → 2.55 BTC (minus 55%)
BitcoinDark = 5.03 BTC → 1.96 BTC (minus 61%)
Ripple = 4.98 BTC → 2.03 BTC (minus 59%)
EmerCoin = 4.76 BTC → 2.02 BTC (minus 57%)
Digibyte = 4.38 BTC → 1.55 BTC (minus 65%)
Waves = 4.05 BTC → 2.76 BTC (minus 31%)
Ubiq = 3.89 BTC → 1.74 BTC (minus 55%)
Vertcoin = 3.35 BTC → 1.2 BTC (minus 64%)
Lumen = 3.06 BTC → 0.95 BTC (minus 69%)
Stratis = 2.96 BTC → 1.78 BTC (minus 40%)
SysCoin = 2.76 BTC → 0.98 BTC (minus 64%)
Ethereum = 2.53 BTC → 1.43 BTC (minus 43%)
MaidSafeCoin = 1.94 BTC → 0.96 BTC (minus 50%)
Komodo = 1.93 BTC → 0.94 BTC (minus 51%)
Voxels = 1.35 BTC → 0.67 BTC (minus 50%)
NEM (XEM) = 1 BTC → 0.88 BTC (minus 12%)
BitCrystals = 1 BTC → 0.41 BTC (minus 58%)
Ardor = 1 BTC → 0.34 BTC (minus 65%)
Wings DAO = 0.25 BTC → 0.15 BTC (minus 37%)
Expanse = 0.14 BTC → 0.05 BTC (minus 60%)
Why didn't I put in any stop losses? Cause I was stupid. Why did I keep holding onto these coins despite the massive fall in value? Cause I believed they would eventually turn around.

Trust me, I ask myself every day how I could've made THIS many bad decisions at the same time.

I totally get you if you think I'm making up this story and how could anyone be stupid enough to spend 200 BTC on Siacoin. Pure greed. I thought Siacoin would keep going up, and I could make a quick profit.

The only mistake I haven't made is sold any of the coins at a loss. Even as I saw the altcoins go down, I convinced myself that all I needed to do was HODL.

I'm still holding. Still hoping that eventually some of these might go back up to the value they were before, and I can sell them off at break even.

Of course I'm tempted to sell them all. Take any BTC I can get for them. Maybe put it into NEO (that train already left though) or some other altcoin that I hope will blow up. But of course that too would be an impulsive mistake. I'm just scared shitless, so I hold. I've made every single mistake I could made, except selling at a loss.

"Just hold." everyone says. So I do. But the people who say "hold" usually didn't spend 600 BTC on altcoins and watched their portfolio go down to about 200 BTC.

By the way, I know that when you compare it to USD value, not all of these altcoins have dropped that much. But that's not what I look at. USD value is deceptive, cause BTC keeps going up.

What I care about is BTC value. I'd give anything to just have my 600 BTC back (which of course would now be worth way more than the $2700 per coin I spent on them).

I realize that the chances of these altcoins ever going back to the peak that we had in June / July are very slim... the more BTC keeps rising, the less satoshis each of these coins is worth. Trust me, I know how much I fucked up.

Anyway.... feel free to laugh at my stupidity.

I'm open to any suggestions as to what to do with my altcoins now, whether I should just sell them back and get ~200 BTC for them, or wait for some of these to turn around... I genuinely don't know how to make this any less of a fuck-up.

EDIT: To answer some questions that have popped up:

Some of you are having a hard time believing someone who has this type of money can lose it in such a stupid way. Earning money, keeping it, and growing it are different skills. I fucked up on the last two.

A few of you asked how I bought 600 Bitcoins all at once. I used an OTC called Genesis Trading. Minimum buy order is 25K. You negotiate a bid, then you wire them the money, and they send the BTC to your wallet.

I don't have any NEO. I sold it when it got to break even, and then it exploded to current levels. So not only did I fuck up by investing in alts that went down, the one single coin that went up, I sold before it exploded.

I will reply to comments. I'm just catching up and reading everything that everyone posted and taking it all in.

Thank you to everyone who replied.
Wow! That is a whole lot to take in at once! You really fucked up just like you have said, but nothing is gone yet. Like someone has rightly said, it is either you wait if you do not have anything to do with the cash for now, and then monitor them to see how they turn out as they will still recover even though it ends up taking some time. I have been there once, and I did not regret waiting as they even ended up surpassing my imagination when they got pumped.
388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to know if airdrop is legit on: February 27, 2018, 11:34:31 AM
actually we cant say this airdrop is legit or not until it received to our wallet. but please do not give your private key to the form. if they asking the private key of the wallet definitely it will be scam one.
Honestly it is hard to know if the airdrop is legit and helpful, as I can see there are many airdrop in this forum and most of them are fake or a scam.
Yes be careful on what the information you give because maybe you can be hacked.
This is one of the most authentic method of distinguishing between legit airdrop and the airdrop which is not legit. Those who ask you for making certain payments, they are juts scammers and are there to take away your hard earned money by showing you huge profits and giving false hopes.

I don’t think so much people are joining airdrops now for making profit in the world of crypto currencies. Everyone is after signature campaigns.
389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you trading ALTs? on: February 27, 2018, 11:02:34 AM
When the price of altcoins is low, I do not sell coins.  At this point, I only buy altcoins, which were expensive, but now the price has fallen, and coins which will later grow well. For example, I like now the price of CAPP, ADA, ETH.
I also trade altcoin but I never try to by some of altcoin, I just get coins by joining bounty campaign of each projects. Trading alts are profitable because you can set order so that you cannot have to watch over the market price from time to time. I hold some coins which are potential to grow and increase the price in the market.
I have not so much experience in trading and that too of altcoins but there are people who are very much happy on investing their money in altcoins and doing trading by those altcoins. Altcoin trading is helping so many traders in making of enough amount of money and that is the reason why there are so many traders who are busy in trading of altcoins. You need to ne well prepared before getting into it.
390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 💰💰 Mark Zuckerberg says Facebook will look into cryptocurrency on: February 24, 2018, 11:30:26 AM
"...create its own cryptocurrency"

Even Mr. Zuckerberg wants a piece of the Crypto-Cake Smiley

Lol. Who would not? I am sure having looked around and see how the crypto space has been doing over the years; he would not want to come late into the show when some who do not have a working product before the ICO stage could be doing something for themselves now, how much more for Facebook with a working platform. I hope if it comes to ICO, it would not be a private sale, as I would want to have a piece of that Facebook cake as well.
391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you think this year will be Red? on: February 24, 2018, 10:56:48 AM
I think maybe in May, before the whole cryptocurrency market will still be in the red state, and may be in June is the starting point of another bull market, because going to the G20 meeting in March, Many country will be further regulated cryptocurrency market.
Most especially around May/June should be the good time for alts again. For now, it just seems like something we should not expect too fast, most especially for all those huge increase.

A lot is going on in the cryptocurrency space that would bring a lot of growth and development for bitcoin, so I really want to believe that this is not the end of greens, and we should see them soon. Downtrends cannot be forever, the same way uptrends cannot be going on forever.
392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Recommendations for Under 1$ Coins on: February 23, 2018, 10:49:16 AM
You made a really nice list!. Especially bluzelle project is very nice. And the price is very good to collect some bluzelle now. I dont think we will have chance again to buy bluzelle for such cheap prices after a few days.
Bluezelle was the top for me on that list, as I am not sure of the other projects but I am sure he must have done some pretty good research to have come up with them.

The truth is the market, is like a wide ocean with so many fishes, and it takes some pretty good research to pick the poisonous ones from the bad ones. Any of the coins right now are capable of doing great since most of them have reached a huge bottom already, but no one can guarantee when, but for me, Bluezelle, COSS and ADA should do it for me this year. Going real big on these ones.
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is useless so why high price? on: February 23, 2018, 10:11:33 AM
How'd you say it's useless? It's the first cryptocurrency in the world and altcoin will never be invented if there's no bitcoin.
I believe that OP cannot give you any proper explanation for why bitcoin is useless. Only for the people who do not understand the complete system of bitcoin may call it useless. Bitcoin is the first decentralized momentary system which must be very new for all of us. The usefulness of bitcoin will be understood by everyone in coming years after getting familiar with the real applications of bitcoin system.
Yes, the fact is it is too early to call bitcoin is useless. Because we do not have all the required infrastructure to realize the real potential of bitcoin ecosystem. We must give it some more time so that we can find out how useful it will be.

Probably in coming years more people will come with many new ideas to develop those infrastructures so that bitcoin will deliver for what it was really invented.
I must agree with this. When there will be no proper environment where we can use bitcoin, we cannot call it useless. First we need to design a complete system so that we can use bitcoin more effectively. But that will not happen within a  day so we must give at least 10 more years of time to find the actual potential of bitcoin. I strongly believe bitcoin is capable of making our life much easier than what we have now a days.
394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Western Union is testing Ripple for money transfers! on: February 22, 2018, 12:07:39 PM
Super news from Western Union! They currently testing Ripple (XRP) for future money transfers.
Western Union Says It's Testing Transactions With Ripple
LOL,the video doesnt announced any western union partnership so stop shilling your coin,the video only contains how greedy this XRP CEO is,he wants to regulate the cryptocurrency markets which is wrong because satoshi created the bitcoin to be a decentralized which today isnt being considered,we shoudlnt be calling XRP as  a cryptocurrency because it is being backuped by the central bank,stay away from this coin!
I am totally in with you bro! And it totally pisses me off when people are regarding Ripple as a cryptocurrency. This is one coin I will never be comfortable holding either in a short term, let along long. Let's see how their idea of centralization ends up working out for them, but as far as I am concerned, it sucks and will always suck. Moreover, there are better coins to hold than ripple and if western union wants to gamble on this, their choice!
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When will ICOs die? on: February 22, 2018, 11:24:07 AM
As long as there are people willing to invest their money into an ICO there will be ICO's.  They are going to be around for a long time.
There would always be investors, so I want to believe that projects will still get a way to be funded via ICOs. One thing though that I am beginning to notice is that people are becoming smarter and watching out for the type of ICO they want to invest in which makes it more interesting as that stylishly reduces the level of ICOs without a sound project or product and we get to see investment in those with usable products.
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto has gone to shit on: February 21, 2018, 01:02:25 PM
Scams everywhere now. Greedy ICOS that for some reason need 20 million dollars for a small project, Ridiculous.  Greed everywhere, thousands of coins that serve no purpose.  This is so far removed from satoshi's vision.  Premine bullshit  scams like onion.  Projects that have no reason to be on a fucking blockchain except to cash in money on the hype.  We need another fucking crash to clear out these shitcoins and scams, and you greedy mfer ICO devs are the cause of this bullshit.

Not gonna happen. As long as there are exchanges willing to host scam coins there will be scam coins.  Ox Fina was one of the earliest scam ICO's and they are still traded on Cryptopia, despite being warned that this was a scam coin. The developers stopped posting on social media after the coins were distributed.  You want to clear the market then you need to start putting pressure on the exchanges.
The exchanges are even the starting point of this bullshit. Checkout Yobit, HitBTC, and co, they are all full of shitcoins, pump and dump coins that really add no benefit to the community. Well, this is a decentralized environment and it seems everything goes, which is why you won't blame the government shouting on top of their voice with respect to regulations.

Seems we are really proving them right but at the end of it all, the whole thing balls down to investors, but we cannot eliminate greedy investors from the market, can we? So, we just have to live with it until further notice.
397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Waves hit $100 in this Year? on: February 21, 2018, 12:30:25 PM
it could happen, because nothing is impossible. we just wait for the market price is stable and if stable then the price waves will rise.
There is nothing in this world which is impossible but still it is very much difficult for any of the coin to reach up to 100 k $ and that too in just a year.

It will take some time for the market to grow and to reach up to this value. The number of investors investing is continuously increasing and the graph is increasing and rising high. So we can really hope for the best and that time is not too far when the market will reach up to this value.
398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The END is NEAR! on: February 20, 2018, 10:33:20 AM
Yes, the END of cheap, great quality crypto is NEAR.

Once Amazon.com adopts crypto, the masses will fully awaken, and will come pouring in. Get your crypto now, my timeline says in February Amazon will launch something MAJOR, and this article supports my conclusion:

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-01-22/could-amazon-be-gearing-cryptocurrency-exchanges

Once the largest American online retailer fully supports crypto, the FUD will no longer be as effective in tanking the markets.... you will never again see a time to buy such great quality crypto.

If Amazon will join cryptocurrency, Crypto enthusiast will celebrate and many altcoins will increase its value specially those know coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and many more. Coinmarketcap volume will also increase.
Crypto enthusiasts have always been waiting for such moments when we will enter the level of mainstream adoption. So far so good, we are getting to that level and with LN deployment, there would be a huge level of adoption in the market and that would really bring a lot of difference to the market and only those who have been holding long all these while will be the ones having a good time when that time comes.
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which industry are you investing most? on: February 19, 2018, 12:47:07 PM
I still searching for now and I think I do not yet find one project that makes me interested but I hope I can find one or two project which is really good for me to invest. like usual, before I decide to invest in the project, I always read their whitepaper but sometimes I don't get what their point or maybe I still need to learn about their project although I have talked to them and they give explaining about their projects.
similar to you, I am also not looking for one particular industry for investing all the times. If a project is seeming having valid concept and promising like having more potential then I prefer to go for risking some of my hard earned money. Looking for one similar industry for investing will be a foolish idea in my opinion because we cannot get good potential projects into same industry all the times. Hence, we must look for concept and potential for deciding investing into any project.
400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: waiting for the right time to get in. on: February 19, 2018, 12:13:46 PM
I’ve had 5k US sitting on the bench watching and waiting for the right time to get in. Seems like the time is here.
Been researching projects and narrowed them down to these FOR LONG TERM HOLDS.
ETH ,VEN ,XLM ,IOTA ,NEO ,OMG ,ICX ,LISK ,WTC
Thoughts?
Obviously a perfect time to get into most of them since they have reached a level of no more falling. I would also add LTC to that list anyway. Litecoin sure have some good thing going on for it right now and I also wonder why you do not have BTC on your list as well.

It is your choice though, but for me, that is always the first. Never heard on Ven though, maybe I will check out on that myself. Try to take a look at ZEC as well.
