2  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitfetch - Anonymous Remote Torrent Downloading on: February 03, 2014, 04:28:46 PM
Anyone know what a Pending download is?

I don't even have torrent stats (Seeds/Peers).  I would assume this to mean that the torrent has been downloaded and 'submitted' to the their backend torrent system, but it is not downloading for some reason.
3  Economy / Goods / Re: The first Mainstream Nootropic Producer to accept Bitcoins (40% off) on: January 14, 2014, 04:09:40 PM
Did anyone use such things? Are they good? What do they actually do to you? Are they safe? Do they have dangerous side-affects? This stuff on the site looks very dangerous to me.

Perhaps you should checkout the Smart Drug Smarts podcast although it looks like their host has been overloaded.

And if you want to get started with a relatively harmless but extremely effective and helpful breakfast protocol then I would recommend this:

4Tbs of grass-fed butter (Kerrygold unsalted)
35ml of MCT Oil (Dr. Friedlander's is great)
spoonful of coconut manna
some raw honey (Bees Bros is awesome!)

a small pinch of pure vanilla extract (for anti-inflammation and taste)
some cinnamon (merely for taste)
some dark chocolate (merely for taste)

Boil some water, mix the ingredients and blend. Should make a nice frothy white foam on top. Excellent for breakfast. 600+ calories of tasty fatty goodness! Brain food, eliminates hunger with plenty of fuel but still keeps your body in ketosis.

The sugars from the honey does not affect ketosis?

I would bet my balance vanished again :/ How else could I reach exactly 0 by using it up? Does it expire after a month of inactivity? Not amused.
Did you use your token link to log back in? It's probably not in your cache anymore after a month.

Well, yeah, most likely that is the problem and I addressed it before. Why not optionally let me log in with something my password store would remember for me? Most likely I have the bookmark somewhere, too but optional login would help others from getting too mad at bitfetch, too.

Would it show in your history?
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: iPhone IOS Bitcoin wallet is here! (From Blockchain.info) on: December 11, 2013, 04:29:13 PM
I don't understand the difference between the jailbroken and non jailbreaken app. On the website it says
Quote
Due to restrictions from Apple the bitcoin wallet functionaility is not available in the app store version. However it is still available for free download with limited features.
What are these limited features ? I've downloaded the app recently and I can pay receive funds etc. What's the big deal ? I read everywhere that apple killed all BTC apps but what's the problem with that one ?
Blockchain.info is tricky and uses your IP address and time to see if it should show the wallet on the phone.  If you search this thread the exact criteria is in there.

However I don't think they are updating it because of the app store hostility toward bitcoin apps.
6  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Donate to Wikipedia with Bitcoin on: November 21, 2013, 03:39:19 PM
Is this still active?

Wiki is doing their anual fundraising drive and I would like to contribute, and I trust BitPay, but I don't want to just send the money into the ether either (haha).
7  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: A letter to Wikipedia regarding donations in Bitcoin.... on: November 21, 2013, 03:35:55 PM
IMO they're dicks.   It would take 30seconds to integrate.  Cut paste btc address.

Then sell if they want cash.  Donations are the easiest use case for BTC.
I would imagine it would be more of a legal/accounting issue, not a technical one.

They could even use BitPay to handle the technical/banking integrations for a very small fee.  Heck Tony might even donate the service to them as his donation (marketing would also be good).

EDIT:  It looks like Tony has alread done something to help them: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=128382.0
8  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best VPN's using Bitcoin? on: October 28, 2013, 12:50:50 PM
I would stay away from proXPN. I looked into them when they started sponsoring Security Now, here is what I found.  https://twitter.com/proXPN/status/326869677122936833

Their whole attitude toward it was a huge turn off for me.

AirVPN is based in France, PIA looks like a great company, but after Lavabit I am not sure we can trust any US company anymore.  Being based in the US now seems to be a liability rather than an asset.

It definitely voids the warranty. Perhaps I'll hold off and keep my eye out for any steals on a Dragon that may present themselves. If our Monarchs arrive soon I guess 30GH/s won't make much of a difference anyway.

Or on the contrary keep these stock until the warranty is essentially no good, then boost them ....  I suspect there is a decent chance that BFL may come out with a like update which won't void the warranty...
Agreed, also because the damage that this may cause would most likely not be seen in a week, but only after months of 24/7 usage
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1DkyBEKt5S2GDtv7aQw6rQepAvnsRyHoYM on: October 10, 2013, 09:55:07 PM
True. But the initial transfer was for 40k BTC. You don't just drop 40k BTC in a wallet even back in 2011 unless its intended for long term storage or you intend to spend it (Which he didn't). I think this was intended as long term cold storage and as bitcoin increased in value so did this wallet's value
Cold Storage is a very good point.

We also don't know that this is the ONLY wallet, or if he had other investments in BTC (who knows how much he lost in the GLBSE madness) or to (the other) pirate  Roll Eyes.

Also there is value to *now* which is hard to quantify and put a figure to! but it is there.

Also the free market does not always operate in the most efficient manner.
14  Other / Meta / Re: About the recent attack on: October 07, 2013, 06:51:29 PM
In the reddit thread...
[snip]

Theymos says it was someone from SA, How does he know that? If he KNOWS who it was, why not tell us all?

[snip]

What's SA?
Something Awful, often abbreviated to SA, is a comedy website housing a variety of content, including blog entries, forums, feature articles, digitally edited pictures, and humorous media reviews.
15  Economy / Securities / Re: [NastyFans.org] NASTY MINING | NASTY POOL on: October 07, 2013, 06:35:21 PM
I just felt a little in the dark when the site went down and mainly just needed someone to hold me.  Grin

This is actually very understandable to me. I've considered asking nonnakip to implement some sort of IRC box similar to how BitFunder does it to avoid the need for any moderating. I just feel especially guilty asking nonnakip for anything right now, as I know the pool implementation and the transferring of seats to BTCTC members are currently taking up too much of nonnakip's time. I'm also not sure anyone would actually use it.

I will say that if the forum went down for any significant length of time, I would be reachable through IRC or the Bitcoin Reddit site.
Isn't there an official twitter account too?
16  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: iPhone IOS Bitcoin wallet is here! (From Blockchain.info) on: October 07, 2013, 02:51:14 PM
Last app update is over one year ago. Why isn't there anything updated. There are so many iOS users out there.

Because we are afraid that apple might pull the current version of the app as well.
What if you do a LinkedIn and redesign the app to use mostly HTML backend.  Basically the app is a customized HTML browser that allows you to push updates on the server side.  You could also do things like having an option in the wallet preferences to enable the mobile app access.... if that isn't enabled then no send functions, otherwise it would be watch only.
17  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX.IO on: October 01, 2013, 03:35:31 PM
i also brought 10G yesterday, how to receive the free ghs?

It is no longer being offered: https://cexio.zendesk.com/entries/26926563-1-GHash-for-FREE-for-new-Traders-FINISHED-

so if I get this right you're actually buying something that offers a built-in loss over time? you're basically throwing coins away, right?

How is that different from buying mining hardware.  Look at NastyFans share prices, they have tanked recently.  Also not to sound like pirate days of yore, but if you can't figure out how to make money with it then it probably isn't for you.
18  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX.IO on: October 01, 2013, 03:40:14 AM
The site admin has the resources to pump the price, and has made trades that do exactly that (which made me a tidy profit).

Could you explain this in more detail?  On the surface this seems very unethical.
19  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Crowdfunding to confront Mark Karpeles of MtGox on: September 30, 2013, 07:59:56 PM
I think his kids would be proud of him.  And kids don't need their Dad standing over them 24/7 anyway.   Give them some space, Pops.
I was thinking more about his wife about to give birth, she might appreciate his presence; however as he pointed out I do not know his situation and have no right to speak.

I just know if it were me I would rather be with my wife than jetsetting around the globe.
20  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Crowdfunding to confront Mark Karpeles of MtGox on: September 29, 2013, 03:29:29 PM
Just my two cents as a Father, perhaps focusing on your family is more important than confronting Mark.

Although I agree that it may bring something positive to see him in person.
