Figured I would post here in case people didn't know, but you can use the Try CoffeeScript tab at http://coffeescript.org/ to get your syntax correct.

Also there is a slight typo in pulsecat's last post, result should not be indented (you can see this at the above website), removing that space and then it compiles.

It appears that I'm running mobile safari 5.1 for iOS 5.1, javascript enabled, java 5 installed.  At least, that's what external websites are reporting, I don't seem to be able to find an about page on safari itself.
This seems wrong... there is no java on iOS

We're talking about java script, not java - two different things.

I agree, but look at what he posted:

Since several people requested for 2H bars i'm going to add such option soon. As regards custom intervals, it shouldn't be hard to implement this, since the backend stores all history data from Mtgox.
This is great!  Do you have plans to add other exchanges like bitstamp or CampBX?

Also do you have a thread just for this service?  I would love to follow it

Clark,

Is there any way to get an H2 period added?

Those who are interesting in testing their strategies on history data, may also try my Backtesting tool.
This looks really cool... thanks for this...

However I have a question, how do you change the frequency of the ticks for the testing?  i.e. I want to back test 2H bars and I don't see a way to do that.

I made some static pages that I have been using to bitcoin performance at the four major exchanges based on the 'Goomboo method' and though I would post some screen shots here to see if there would be any interest in releasing them as a full package.

Some things to point out:
  • All the 'real data' comes from BitcoinCharts, so a hat tip to them
  • You can see right now I have it configured for 6 different time periods, but all those periods have the same exchange charts for quickly comparing
  • It is very easy for me to add/change a time period.  Don't want to use 10/21, no problem, I can change it very quickly (as long as BitcoinCharts will graph it)
  • Each chart can be clicked on to goto the 'full' BitcoinCharts page, as well as the specific exchange (to trade), or the BitcoinCharts market detail page
  • I use a browser add-on (RefreshMonkey) that I can set/change very easily a refresh period on the page so it is always up to date
  • There is a UTC clock at the top right hand corner of the page so you can see at a glance that the charts are indeed updated
  • These are true static HTML pages (no app server needed) so you can use dirt cheap hosting.  I use dropbox for mine.

Here are some full-res screenshots on differing devices:

Like I said I am soliciting to see if there is any interest in me developing this into a full package.

How did you generate that chart?

I backtested the strategy in Excel and graphed the performance.  I've found it easier to play around in Excel these days rather than going through the process of loading BTC data into NinjaTrader.
That is very interesting... can ou share more details on how you did this.   I would love more information

The chart below shows the performance potentially generated by a trader able to pay the lowest Mt. Gox commission of .25%:
How did you generate that chart?

I just aquired ~1,000 CDs that I will be offering for sale soon.

I will be offering a digital delivery /w proof of destruction.  Or physical shipping if you prefer.

This will be 100% legal, no 'donations' or torrenting.

Has proof of destruction been tested in court?

I don't have a problem with what you are doing, but I think you may find there are still legal issues.
Doesn't matter... i offloaded them another way anyway
73  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goomboo's Journal on: July 10, 2013, 11:57:11 AM
first, thank you goomboo for this thread, I learned a lot from your suggestions.

I am in doubt about how to know in good time when the EMAs cross. You said you use the hourly or daily bitcoinchart, but his update is not high enough to let you to profit from small oscillations. I mean, suppose the fast EMA cross above the slow EMA when price is 74, and comes below the fast EMA when the price is 76: we can get profit only buying before 76 is reached, and this often happens too quickly when there is a bounce.
So how to get this info quickly? Using the market API? Automatic trading softwares?
I think that Goomboo mentioned that he only trades daily; however there are a couple of bots that you can use and just up the frequency, the Chrome Browser bot being the main one that comes to mind for this.

Keep in mind that with higher frequency you also get more noise and thus the potentional for more losses (possibly profits too). Also it every strategy is meant to make money in all possible ways.   The purpose of this strategy is to provide a logic fact based way on when to be long or short.

Oh god, this just reminds me of the shit I go through when newbies talk about Tor.  ZOMG CREATED BY THE GOVERNMENT.  Then I have to explain what open source means.  But all they hear is gov't created it, obv not safe.  The fact that there's only a few thousand nodes is what really makes Tor less safe, but nope, it's a government creation, that's it's problem.  *slams head against wall.
Quoting to emphasize that this is how people think, and they want to believe their falsities and not see the actual problems (like the 1k nodes).
76  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goomboo's Journal on: July 04, 2013, 03:03:21 AM
but I'm confused: why would you think that I multiply when going to a different timeframe?

I just assumed that if you used a 10/21 on a D1 chart that if you were 'zooming' in to say an H1 chart that you would multiply to get the same lines, just at the higher granularity as now it is only looking at 10 hours rather than 10 days.

I am no expert, just pur assumption on my part, which is why I asked.   I just never paid that much attention to the bitcoincharts charts before, and as I have been using RTBTC as well my eye was drwan to it.
77  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goomboo's Journal on: July 04, 2013, 01:09:24 AM
Goomboo... I noticed that the EMA values are the same on your daily and hourly charts, is this an oversite or do you not multiply when going higher resolution (240/504 for example)?
78  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: RTBTC - Bitcoin Exchange Trading Interface on: July 04, 2013, 01:04:28 AM
Thanks for the quick response!  I will test it as soon I as know... will you post here (or do you have a twitter account)?

I have deployed what I think will fix the problem, though it is hard to say, since I haven't seen that bug before.

Could you give more details on the browser / OS? Also, if I didn't get the bug, please let me know!

Clark,

Unfortunately 0.0.24 did not fix anything and the error looks the same:

The *really* strange thing is this uses the exact same binaries as by browser that works.  AND the SSB (single site browser) DID work the first day.

It is Chrome on OSX.  (Chrome itself works fine, although Chrome on Linux does not :/)   I thought perhaps it was a cache issue, but clearing that had no effect.

Can I do anything else to help you Clark?  I know that a line number in a minified JS file isn't alot of help so I tried to add context for you in the SS.

I've pinpointed what I think it going on and will push a new version soon.

Thanks for posting about this error.

Works with my Chrome and Firefox browsers!
Strange my SSB and linux are both chrome too (although Chrome is also what is working on the same laptop as the SSB).

Here is a SS of the error in Chrome.   The window is reporting v0.0.23 which I think hasn't changed since it was working so I am doubly perplexed.
