62,489 members, I'd guess < 2% take you up on the offer. There's just tons of free magazine offers out there, lots of dead accounts, lots of users that won't see the offer, lots of users that don't want to give their address, etc.

So a 50k run of one issue for distribution to bitcointalk.com members seems like a bad idea.

Flawed logic is flawed.

For one thing you can not assume that everyone has seen this thread.

So, how do the competition rate for KYC? Are the other exchanges doing it properly?
What is not proper?

I am all for any solution that works.

744  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Building Armory on OSX on: August 25, 2012, 09:07:35 PM
Running into the hell of compiling Armory on OSX....

What if  you required brew for OSX?  I know that is not 'ideal' but it is loads better than what we have today.

Then users could install your custom formula and just brew install armory

745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: Do you use first-class messaging? on: August 25, 2012, 07:06:10 PM
I support both first-class by default (this is less confusing to the average user than the arcane "Receive coins" screen), and the inclusion of Armory-style signature blocks.

Agreed.. I think for any serious future use that we need some sort of signature block format.
746  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] MOVETO.FUND - MoveTo Growth Fund on: August 25, 2012, 07:04:23 PM
Good to know.  At almost 20% growth since IPO I'd like to say that is an A-game if I ever saw one. Thanks!
Who has two thumbs and is jelly they missed the IPO?

NO I WOULDNT GIVE YOU MY ADDRESS!!!

If i did, the next thing I know I would have a truckload of giggling Korean girls at my door.

On second though... at least I wouldn't have to pay for electricity anymore.....

What about using blockchain.info's API to get the balance of the key?
749  Economy / Collectibles / Re: CASASCIUS PHYSICAL BITCOIN - In Stock Now! (pic) on: August 25, 2012, 06:49:38 PM
What are the dimensions of the 1BTC coin, does it fit in any "standard" coin capsules?
It is slightly bigger than a US Quarter... I believe the actual dimensions are on the site.
750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: Do you use first-class messaging? on: August 25, 2012, 06:48:54 PM
etotheipi, I think you're trying to put the cart before the horse.  Yes, there are plenty potential use-cases for it, but very few of those use-cases are wanted/needed/used by anyone right now.  I don't hear any merchants clamoring to have customers sign their physical address information with their payment address - for the merchants, it is plenty good enough to just have the user fill out their address information into a normal HTML form at the time of purchase (and really, why wouldn't that be good enough?).
I disagree with this...

It is a chicken and egg problem.  If it were there then people would use it, organically.

You can see much the same problem with the iPad:  there were no crys of "GIVE US TABLETS"  but Apple came along and sparked a whole ecosystem.  Try to take away someones tablet now (even if it is an android) and chances are they will raise a huge storm.

I attempted to follow the OSX build instructions on the site; however I keep getting an odd error:

As you can see libpython2.7.a does indeed exist (although I had to manually symlink it).

My gut feeling is that it has something to do with the PyArg_ParseTuple erro, but I do not have the skills to troubleshoot this.

Thanks.
752  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt.Gox AML/KYC Process Explained on: August 25, 2012, 06:22:45 PM
How does a company prove it's identity? Does this rule out Panamanian companies?
My guess would be that a principal would sign indicating such.  Give them a call; it wouldnt be the first time Mt Gox has this situation.

I am both lazy AND greedy.
754  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: August 25, 2012, 06:19:29 PM
I recently changed the password to my wallet.
Now when trying to pair my iphone with my existing wallet by scanning the QR code,  I receive the following error:

...

When I enter the password that I am %100 sure is the correct password (I can login to the wallet in Safari using this password.)  I still receive the same error.
I have already run the "integrity check" on the wallet as well.

I get this error too Roger... I think it has to do with 2-factor auth.  What I ended up soing was setting up a mobile wallet that does not have 2FA and that paird successfully.

757  Economy / Services / Re: [WTS]Dropbox upgrade to 18GB life time for 1BTC on: August 24, 2012, 02:53:08 AM
Neat little trick.

My only worries is that DropBox will revoke the space Sad
Honestly I had the same thought given that the emails are obviously bogus and come in one right after another.
You will get a full refund if your space is revoked (I need to check it myself though)
I've been selling it for more than a year. None revoked, till today.

How about giving us a 500MB referral to test and sit on for a while?
Unessecary... I have had mine for awhile and it has yet to be revoked.

Good to hear about the refund.

Still. He has ten 10,000 BTC inputs. Why was it necessary to add the two small sub-0.01 BTC inputs and send the sum of that to a separate address?

It's a bug in the satoshi client.

In an attempt to avoid sending change less than 0.01 BTC, it sends change even when it isn't necessary.

I submitted a fix for the bug a long time ago, but it never got included in the master branch.  See https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/898

Here's a good example.  MtGox is trying to consolidate 10 50k outputs into a single 500k output, but an 11th 50k gets pulled in and spat out as change due to the same bug:

http://blockchain.info/tx-index/2048819/1
Is it a bug or (privacy) 'feature'?

Thought I would leave this here.

I love you.
