I don't use MtGox for trading.

I will use one this Friday when giving a donation to my local hacker space. I guess I will have to fold in in half a few times before placing it in the donation jar or hand it directly to the head hacker

Mike. Do you like my example that I posted above? The passphrase is pretty obvious.
I scanned it and got U2FsdGVkX1+GmmpNCQBb+zrHyMSmAQsnk4heY+SbUssaTj+d+E2Vd5eb7D30CAdr3HFSk6hifRqQDGWputN7qz6tdyHe/2YyNV2ElfZ7cXg= but didn't make any effort to guess at the passphrase. I am also thinking that going forward, there should be a regular format for password-protected keys (i.e. instead of something looking like 5JVpCLEMPARHYy6zVu78PR9Tc7KvLhCBLfCib3qRt1KQTxFYMsP, it would be more like 6pEKRVv4ELhVm8nGJjQNmsoLBjYDXuuZG8RAzht9Z8L6TSYJaf1 where 6p means this is a passworded priv key). That does seem to be a lot shorter. I am welcome to any standardization that you can bring to the base.

OK, Windows users can download my current version of the utility and print Bitcoin notes! It's on the menu under Tools - Paper Wallet Generator. Binary and source is included. https://casascius.com/btcaddress.zipRequires .NET Framework 4.0 (which should be present on any recent Windows system). Note there is a PNG file that contains the graphic used on the notes - you can change this with any other png file with the same aspect ratio. Downloading now.. will give it a shot.

my BTC.02:
I host my GPG key in my Dropbox. I also keep the revocation there, in case I lose the private key.
and they're talking about this:

That is a signed message from Bitcoin-qt using my private key that has the public key of 1mantis assigned to it. you do know to verify a signed message, we need your bitcoin address you signed with, the message you signed, and signature. The only thing you gave us is the signature we can't do anything with that. Well i didn't know that. Is there a tutorial out there that explains how to use bitcoin signed messages properly? As you can see I am trying to put all my verifiable credentials in my signature.

Looking lovely - just as with the coins, I think the big bonus here is it makes Bitcoin look Gooood. I guess they're not too different from Bitcoin cheques, except if the private key is available, these are maybe a bit more transferable/disposable/usable as a paper wallet? Also like the idea of a keyfob with QR codes on. Might be a good excuse to finally get out that keychain digital photo frame I bought cheap ages ago... They are exactly like bitcoin cheques, except you print them yourself, fund them yourself, there's no hologram, and you throw them away once the private key has been shared. They are cheques. I would like to have the private key signed with a passphrase though. I have asked the creator of bitaddress.org for the option of a passphrase aes encrypted private key but he does not see the value in this. He is more focused on the brain wallet.

Lol
It's obviously not text, and unlike PNG/GIF, there's no helpful 3-byte sequence in the beginning allowing me to identify it :/
What are you talking about "not text"? Well matey, it doesn't decode into plaintext. It's a bunch of control characters and related crap. Are you talking about the PGP key or the Signature on the bottom of my Sig here on the forum?

That deserved a donation. Thank you! You're welcome, and thank you for the donation (was this you? I shouldn't use my vanity address for faucets lol) PS. You like my signature?
Yes, although that base64 bit confuses me yet. Yes that is me but I am not in California. The way Bitcoin works still confuses me

Hmm... Interesting. I really need to read more about GPG. Thank you

I am not sure how this would work. BTC is considered CASH.
