603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: About Bitcoin paper notes on: July 19, 2012, 03:29:15 AM
I think a bit about this, and I invent a method of using bitcoin notes in close to usual banknotes way.
You need 3-th side in this, say paperbitcoins.com
You need to create an account on paperbitcoins.com and preload it with some bitcoins on you'r main wallet.
Next you need to create a bills what you need. Say 500 mBTC, 1 BTC, 1 BTC, 2 BTC, 2 BTC, 5 BTC, 10 BTC.
Then you got the barcodes, related to this bills. It's not bitcoin keys, it's paperbitcoins.com-inside codes.
Then you need to print the notes like this

in my example it will be 7 notes with nominals 0.5, 1, 1, 2, 2, 5 and 10 BTC. Probably you need to use a different colors for different face value for usability reasons, but it's not matter. You need you'r barcodes on that notes. Actually paperbitcoins.com can automatically generate for you 7 svg files with you'r notes.
Then you need a RSA SecurID token, connected to you account on paperbitcoins.com.
You also need the public key from your main wallet for your change. You can paint it on your RSA token for example.

Say, you need to pay 2,9 BTC.
You find 1 BTC and 2 BTC notes in your wallet and give it, with your RSA token, to the seller.
Then the seller scan codes from your notes, enter the authentication code from your RSA token (in software from paperbitcoins.com), and got 3 BTC from you. Then the seller scan public key from the main wallet and charge you 0.1 BTC back. You can't control you charge back, but if you care, you can print a many small notes, like 50 mBTC and pay without a charge.
Then the seller gives you back your notes and RSA token. This is a reusable notes.
When the authentication code on the RSA token will change, or after any amount of time, you choose, more than this, paperbitcoins.com automatically will reload your notes from the main wallet. And now you can use it again.

This is a way more secure than a notes with bitcoin public keys on it. You do not need to hide and bother about your notes.
And my grandma still can use it. I can print a notes for her, give her a token, and tell how to use it.
This is similar to common money, but you need to take it back after you use it.
If you loose it, no one can stole your money, without your token. If you forgot to take you notes back, don't worry, your money is not be lost, you can go to paperbitcoins.com, destroy that notes, take money from them on you main wallet and create new notes.

BTW, I don't know if this is usable, but what do you think?

I am reading this over and over and it reads like a smartphone app but without the smartphone.

Hey! I'll personally pledge a couple Bitcoins Smiley Nice idea Bruno!
Unfortunately I think the reasons charities dislike Bitcoin donation is that they think it's illegal/scammy and they don't want association with it.

The Red Cross is a fucking scam to begin with. They don't like Bitcoin because it is all PUBLIC INFORMATION!

606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Craigslist on: July 19, 2012, 02:57:45 AM
Craigslist is a pain in the ass. You list something and if someone is not happy they can report the post and the post gets deleted! IT IS BULLSHIT.
607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: About Bitcoin paper notes on: July 19, 2012, 02:56:01 AM

This can be an effective way to send Bitcoin by postal mail to a trusted person for example a grandma.

1) Cut the note in half
2) Send the private key.
3) Verify receipt
4) Send the public key

The public key can be calculated from the private key and isn't needed to spend the funds.

You all are trying to turn Bitcoin into something that it is not. This is just my opinon. Perhaps it is the puritan in me talking but this is getting dangerous now.

609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Bus - We will print it on a real bus! on: July 19, 2012, 01:29:01 AM
Seems like a good opportunity to do some bitcoin advertising. Maybe we could all pitch in for a large ad for bitcoin itself, prominently displayed on the side? It would be shame to have this filled up with random ads for bitcoin-related projects without a central bitcoin logo and something like a weusecoins.com or bitcoin.org link.

Best idea ever!, you will even have my support on that one.

I can keep the pitch in safe on this address: 1MjyWLY1Rvx7rtqKwymA6Mo1gXF1UaFB8G   The address is hosted on WalletBit, so it's safe.

Until we decide for a go on the giant Bitcoin Ad.

I fail to see how anything shy of a brain wallet or encrypted paper wallet is SAFE.

Is there such a thing as PGP verification for birthdays? Cheesy

What do you suggest? That is an interesting idea.

Psy,

How close is this one to being SVGable?  I would be curious just to see how bitaddress.org might look with it in it.

It has a few typos: Strenght Strength.  Reedem Redeem (I prefer Spend over Redeem, since it's a commodity rather than an obligation).  Also the little B-logo on the lower right corner is still the wrong one

Will fix the typos and change the BTC with the correct one and post a revision later, probably editing the post above.
Will work on the full svg later. Let's see if tomorrow by this time I'm able to have an svg to give you.

I am excited!!!!!!!!

From a designer stand point. I am not a designer but I do have a good eye, the little B on the lower right balances out the weight of the note all together.

If he removes it, then it will appear that something NEEDS to be there.

Psy, thoughts?

I think there should be 2 types of notes. BTC and Satoshi. Kinda like Dollar and Cents.

Can someone please draw up a Satoshi note just to humor this idea?
615  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How would you like to design a bitcoin banknote? on: July 18, 2012, 07:44:51 PM
About the whole "QR can't read this or that debate"
QR code readers usually set everything black and white and then read the data Smiley

Could get the picture of Satoshi or something. It would cost more to fund it and that is the funny thing. LOL
616  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How would you like to design a bitcoin banknote? on: July 18, 2012, 07:43:52 PM
Why don't we just use Satoshi units?

I think a commemorative 0.00000001 BTC "Satoshi" banknote would be a splendid homage!  It might read "ONE TEN-MILLIONTH OF A BITCOIN".  You can't get more un-Zimbabwe than that.

That is what made me remember! If currency units can be in the trillions with real world currency than why not bitcoin since bitcoin has 8 decimal places.

Starbucks grande Late 0.00005 btc or 5000 Satoshi.

I would say, "Time to start investing in and developing long range wireless communications hard and software." but wireless jamming is far too easy.
Spread-spectrum wireless communication is very hard to jam.
most definitely agree. And this white paper linked to from your aritcle, neptop is a very good read.
Let me throw something in too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netsukuku
Scalable Mesh Networks and the Address Space Balancing problem

{tinfoil zone ahead}
Most certainly, it will take a good mixture of technologies to harden against the new "Assignment of National Security and Emergency Preparedness Communications Functions," the order revokes Executive Order 12472, which was issued in April 1984 and defined the National Communication System (NCS).
Homeland Security will "satisfy priority requirements through the use of commercial, Government, and privately owned communications resources..."

The issue it not that it is assumed this orer is directly stating that to 'secure' and 'harden' NCS communications will require 'temporary' removal of civilian capabilities. It's that it will require that in order to fulfill its goals. My view on it is not so much that the government has it out for us. It is that in 'protecting' us they will find need to restrict us unduely and the only available government 'propaganda' in such a situation will not be enough to satisfy our human desire to also grant our own security.

cheers

I was told by H&R Block that the IRS told them that all of my Bitcoin profits, whether it was through mining, trading, selling goods/services, buying gold/silver, etc. was all just a "hobby" and I didn't need to report anything.

I love loopholes. Tax free income!!! WOOO!!!
619  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who are the REAL money launderers? Seriously. on: July 18, 2012, 05:47:05 PM

Because at the moment. Entergy, AT&T and Walmart do not accept bitcoin.
