241  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: I have intel with NVIDIA and what is easiest cheapest way to start mining? on: October 18, 2013, 07:26:51 PM
Block erupters are a waste. You need to invest a descent amount of money for btc mining at this point. If you want to ltc mine you need to spend about $1000 or more. Get 4x 7950's and the correct parts to run them. Maybe just build yourself a gaming pc that can mine as well. That way when you don't break even you at least have a cheap gaming rig.
242  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why almost everything has to revolve around usa? on: October 18, 2013, 09:50:17 AM
If you spend more cash on something it doesn't mean you get more. You could also pay for quality. But when numbers overwhelm you quality doesn't matter. For instance the chinese. They are so damn many and in my country Romania in every city you go you will see lots and lots of chinese people and the bigger the city the bigger their numbers. And that's happening in most countries. They are common people but imagine if they have to fight for their families back in china to survive. So spending more doesn't mean you have the edge.

If you say so. Personally I don't think a war with China would have much to do with infantry.

Biggest army, most traded currency, the biggest part of the technology sector revolves around the companies in Silicon Valley plus it helps that
they control most of the media/internet/news. Plus if you read/speak in English you will get pointed to the USA time and time again.
If you're sick of the USA learn Chinese, Japanese or Arabic.

Actually no. China has the largest army, some 1.000.000 soldiers then USA, then USa, then India, North Korea.... Japan is the most technologically advanced country, even South Korea is more advanced then USA. Control of news and media is nothing compared to some other countries, and most of people living in USA don't even know how can news be controlled. English can point anyone to any English speaking country, some of them: UK, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, USA...
So, again English ≠ USA. And one more thing regarding how many people speak certain language

America spends more on military then the next 10 countries combined.

40GH/s and 70w per board!? Wow.

That means a full 16-board set should be able to do 640 GH/s at 1120w.

I have a 1250w power supply. I hope thats good enough

Maybe I'll aim for 37.5 GH/s per board and hopefully around 1000w

I'm pretty sure you can't run that much through 2x 6pin connectors.

Good point!  But you could spread those 16 H boards across two M boards.

Ugh, I had an extra M board on order but I canceled it. The M board kit is $1300 with just 1 H board so it really isn't worth it.

I'm on the verge of canceling my order. Bitfury from megabigbpower is showing the worst ROI right now, when compared to BitBurner, HashFast, and KNC, especially if a 16-board kit can only do 500 GH/s or so. It needs to be able to do 600 GH/s and arrive in the next week to justify it's $8k cost.

I know that the chips are actually capable of doing 800 GH/s as my BitBurner with half the chips can do 400GH/s. The power regulator and cooling issues will limit it though, as for the fact there are only 2 6pin connectors. I'm guessing those two connectors limits it to 600w maybe?

I cancelled my extra m-board as well. You could just hook extra power to the m-board but I have a feeling it doesn't work that way.

Instead of calling customer service at 2 AM when everyone is sleeping, why not leave them an email?

Why don't you leave your douche bag comments somewhere there wanted.
248  Economy / Scam Accusations / Coinabul order from August still non filled. No response from them. on: October 16, 2013, 09:40:46 AM
I ordered 1 ounce of gold from them in late August. I've tried reaching them for the past couple weeks and never get any response. They always take a while to fill orders but this is ridiculous. Is anyone still even receiving orders from them?
249  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] 5970 fans on: October 14, 2013, 08:31:35 PM
Why not just regrease the bearings? i ahve already done it on my 5850 - works a treat and i also replaced the heatsink paste and teh card runs lovely and cool in comparison Wink (use grease rather than oil as it should last longer)

Best to just replace. I've had some of my cards get ruined because the fans just stop spinning completely.

I do have a lot of used and damaged 5970's if your interested. The fans a pretty cheap part of the card though.
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Radeon R9 280X - new Mantle API - higher performance ? on: October 12, 2013, 07:55:25 AM
Well i have free power so... depends i guess.

Hope your not stealing it....Are you getting solar power? Or you at a college dorm that includes utilities? Or at a company using mining as a way to test hardware?

I'm also interested to know too, I find it so hard to reduce my electricity bills.

Just use your electricity during off peak hours and partial peak hours, that should help. Look at your electric bill for that info. Nothing is free in life.

In my place, only commercial have off peak. For resident its all the same.

In my area of California, we have off peak hours from 9pm to 10am M-F. Weekends, off-peak more of the 2 days except for a part of the afternoon. On peak hours are M-F from 1pm to 7pm, until winter time. Rates in my area are as follows: $0.1323/kwhr Off Peak, $0.153/kwhr Partial Peak and $0.3125/kwhr On Peak....

An R9 280X has been added to the hardware comparison page. With OpenGL, it's either as good as the original 7970s or better. At this point, it seems to be way better than the 7970s. It looks like whatever they changed has fixed the original 7970 issues.

https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison

That's pretty impress at I=13..Wonder what it does at I=18?...Maybe 800~900 kh/s....

I believe I=13 would be the highest point, some card just don't work well in high intensity.

If it's like the HD 7970, it can do I=18, even I=20....But on average, most single GPU cards can do at least I=18...I do I=80 on my 2x HD 5870's and HD 5850...

Not all 7970's are the same. Some need to run at 13. Going over 13 will just slow them down, depending on the card.

Someone needs to go buy one and do some testing. Tom's hardware knows next to nothing about mining.

255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AMD New Generation Radeon R9 290X!!!!! on: October 08, 2013, 11:34:05 PM
My biggest worry for the new generation AMD RADEON R9 290X. Voltage locked!!!. I will skip until someone confirm it is voltage unlocked Smiley
I don't think the reference cards are ever locked. I could be mistaken though. I will be glad to start mining with real cards again. These non reference designs are crap.

Base on my understand, most reference cards are locked, of course it also depends on the brand.
I have tried 5870,5970,6970,6990 and 7970's. I have not had issues over volting. Until the 7900 series no one wanted non reference.

I need to pick up a pc this week just to run my butterfly singles. LTC mining on the same rig is more trouble then its worth. I would like to get somthing I may have use for down the road. Has anyone been able to run bfgminer on a windows 8 tablet? Easyminer is the only thing I know for sure, that runs on a win tablet but it's complete garbage.
260  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Comprehensive ASICMiner Blade Setup on: September 15, 2013, 07:46:58 AM
I just ordered this server power supply... HP DPS800GBA at Amazon for only $46.  If anyone else is interested there's only 2 left.

I just can't be bothered with trying to jerry-rig an ATX to the backplane.  I'm basically guaranteed to melt my blades if I try.   Embarrassed

Btw, got the bad Blade working by doing a hardware reset by shorting the two pins as shown in this illustration...

I got that power supply a few days ago. It's a little noisy, and you need a power cord to run it. Like a 14awg cord.
