I think your having the same issue as me. This is what I was told. I just woke up and have not tested it yet though.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/6yk2eu62lmna0dq/SD_image_0.99-E.zip

1) Copy the ZIP file to an SD card and unzip the content of the archive on to the micro SD card formatted with FAT file system.
2) Turn the miner off via the power supply off switch and disconnect from the wall.
3) Open the case of the miner.
4) Insert the micro SD with the recovery files on it in to the SD card slot on the controller board
5)   Reconnect the power supply and turn the power on.
6)   Please wait while internal MMC flash memory is reprogrammed there will be a sequence of LED as follows:
1,2,3,4 blue LEDs on the BeagleBone will turn on, then bright white LED inside the case turns on for several seconds and then the red + green LEDs on the control board are on this means that the programming is in progress. When only the green LED is on for 5 seconds this means that the recovery was successful then all LEDs should go off and it means that the procedure completed.

7) Turn the miner off again and disconnect from the wall.
Cool Eject the micro SD card from the controller board.
9) Plug in all the cables that were unplugged and ensure that they are secured.
10) Reconnect the power supply and power on. The miner should then start from the on-board MMC flash with the software revision 0.9.9-E

I received the same email from KNC.  The issue is that even after a flash at least in my case the same symptoms occur.  Also the light sequence wasn't exactly as described.  Of course the board was 0.99e and the zip/email are for flashing it to 0.99e so there is no definitive way to verify the board has been reflashed.  Would be nice if the recovery version was labeled 0.99f (exactly the same as "e" but could verify the version after reboot).

When you try this out let me know what happens in step 6 for you.  I get 1,2,3,4 blue led, then "bright white LED on and off" and then nothing.  No flashing red & green, no green only.  At that point I can remove the sd card and reboot but have the same "brick" already described. Is that because the flash failed?  Or did the flash complete but that wasn't the real problem?  Who knows but for me there is no change, still bricked.  Hopefully you have better luck.

Doesn't seem to be working for me. You can boot it directly from a sd card, are so it seems with these instructions.
http://forum.kncminer.com/forum/main-category/hardware/23664-how-to-restore-a-broken-beaglebone-without-the-need-to-rma

That didn't help me either though. Everything seemed to happen as described though. I don't think the issue has anything to do with the beagle unfortunately.

Update Holy Crap, it worked. It just changed the units Ip for some reason the ip of the unit changed so I didn't think it worked. Thank god, this was getting really depressing.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 10, 2013, 08:06:20 PM

So just write the image to the SD card, pop it in and power it on.  The unit just knows to boot off the card not internal memory automatically?

wait this an october image, no?

D&T you do have a November jup, right?

Correct.  If the issue is that the BBB is corrupting the internal memory for some reason (which given that settings are all trashed on reboot kinda makes sense) then this might work if there was a Nov img file available.  It at least would be worth trying as I have nothing to lose at this point.

4) Insert the micro SD with the recovery files on it in to the SD card slot on the controller board

Note: to insert the micro SD card into the slot it might be necessary to unplug the flat cables which connect the ASIC boards to the controller board.

5)   Reconnect the power supply and turn the power on.

So received my Nov Jupiter.

Can't connect to machine by either SSH or webpage.  It is assigned an IP address just can't connect. Even ping gets no response but not sure if the BBB is setup to respond to ping.

If I disconnect all 4 ASIC boards I can connect to the host and access web gui with no issues.
Reconnect the ASIC boards, can't connect.
Tried connecting just one ASIC board with same results.
Tried two different power supplies with the same results.

Anyone had anything like this or am I just SOL?

Maybe silly question but you didn't flash 0.99-tune onto it did you?

If not...

I'd get the RMA email done right away, you can always cancel it if you fix it, but at least get the ball rolling as it can take a day or two, then I'd go on the IRC channel and ask hno what he thinks

I didn't flash anything, it never worked from the first power on.   I did try reflashing the Nov 0.99e firmware but no change.  The one thing that makes the convinces it is just a bad controller is it does not save any setting after a reboot or power loss.  For example enable ssh, able to ssh in (w/ no ASICs connected), reboot, not able to ssh in, check gui and enable ssh is unchecked.

I went ahead an put in an RMA but I have a bad feeling KNC is going to make me ship the entire damn this back rather than just ship a new controller.

This is exactly what mine does. I even booted it off a sd card and same issue when I plug a module in. You end up shipping your whole unit back?

On my unit one of the last cards in a bank always seems to shut off after hour or so. Sometimes it comes back on for a while and sometimes the issue spreads to the 3rd card in the bank. I've rotated card positions and it doesn't seem to solve the problem. Anyone know what's causing this?
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 08, 2013, 02:06:56 AM
One of my unit appears to be corrupted and I can't ssh into it. Is there anyway to flash one? I thought these uses micro sd cards but I don't see one.
Ensure you have "Enable SSH" selected in the web interface - sometimes it unticks itself when you flash or reset things.

Otherwise, microsd goes in the slot on the top of the beaglebone.

Scroll down to the post by Araaf, contains all the details on how to work via microsd and a link to image of 0.95 build. I have this on a microsd and have used it several times.
http://forum.kncminer.com/forum/main-category/hardware/10074-erm-1gh-s/page2

You just need the first couple of steps.

I can't get to the web interface.

Is there copy of the image that works on the November units?

Dec 7th and I'm still waiting to get my Oct unit running. I had to rma it after about 10 days and it was extremely late getting here the first time. Now it's the same story all over again, excuse after excuse for not getting it in the mail. I only live 20 minutes away, I would have it the next day if they would actually mail it.
168  Economy / Speculation / Re: This time it's going BELOW 400 on: December 07, 2013, 11:39:55 AM
No intention to spread panic but judging by the $100 crash in less than a hour, and weak chinese hands unfortunately I think we are going to see the big day today. Tread very carefully.
How many of you agree?

Sounds pretty ridiculous to me.

Wish I could have bought some of those 650 coins.

Anyone else seeing 630gh on the new Jupiters? Some readings on the first module seem off.

hno on IRC said that bertmod is not expected to work correctly with the November batch, in particular reading the DCDC data.

It's probably reading it correctly. KNC said I may be able to correct it when the tuning firmware is released.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 06, 2013, 06:42:15 AM
No cores out and very low hw errors, what is your hashrate at the pool? Maybe just leave it alone.

The same 630-640. Something has definitely happened to make it slow down. It's not a terrible speed, if it doesn't get any worse.
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 06, 2013, 04:21:57 AM
Post a copy of the whole bertmod stats. You definitely have a problem with those chips.

It was running at 680gh the first day I had it, then it lost 50gh.

175  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL has Black Friday SALE!!! Be careful on: December 05, 2013, 08:56:28 PM
Out of curiosity how many people that order on the BF sale have gotten their order?
I'm assuming those who ordered did so to Flip them on Ebay.

Have a feeling they won't arrive till after Christmas even though the site said they had them instock. (not that I bought one)

Might snag a Jally once the market gets flooded though Smiley

Hard to flood anything when their still trying to fill July orders.  They are way to expensive anyway, especially considering the power you need to run them.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 05, 2013, 08:46:35 PM
Lol, remember if you have a blackout your connection goes down and mining doesn't do anything.

That isn't always true. I get internet via a cable connection, and have my cable modem and router hooked up to a UPS backup. When the power goes out, I can continue to surf the internet until the UPS backup dies.

Your internet will work during a blackout and give miners a better chance of reconnecting. The most benefit is if your breaker blows where your router is plugged in though.

You could put a cheap wifi remote power switch on your miners and restart them while your away. Which would require a ups on your router. It would be a lot better then a ups for your miners. A extra 5 minutes of mining when the power goes out is never going to be cost effective.
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 05, 2013, 08:27:46 PM
Just some thoughts... if you had a Neptune, are there UPS backups powerful enough to keep it up in running in the event of a blackout?

They have power backups in all sizes. Backups don't make any sense for any miners though. Other then putting one on your router, it's not cost effective at all.

Mine was getting 680gh when I got it. Then the psu got switched off, now it runs at 600-640gh. Anyone else run into the same issue?
180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain growing exponentially? on: December 04, 2013, 02:04:39 AM
damn from 4GB to 13GB in less than a year.. seems like a solution needs to be drawn up relatively soon. by this time next year, that number could easily be 30GB.

A modest expenditure really...
https://www.bitcoinstore.com/fantom-greendrive-2-tb-external-hard-drive-1036078.html

That's all good and well for someone operating in a business / server environment but for the average user: Hey want to use bitcoin?  OK:

1.) Go buy a 2 TB hard drive

2.) Install

3.) Download bitcoin and configure it to use this secondary drive.

4.) Let it run for a month to download and process the block chain

5.) Enjoy!

It's really unrealistic.

P.S. To the guy that said it's only 11 GB...  mine is over 15 GB fore my bitcoin data dir.  If it's only 11 where is my extra 4 GB coming from?  I don't have one billion addresses in my address book or addresses of my own.  My specific user data cannot be more than a few kilobytes.

Mine is showing up as 21GB. Wonder what is causing the huge size differences.
