622  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 22, 2023, 02:19:05 AM

I wonder what will they do against Pacers tonight because Pacers is also a unique team. Hard to pick sides for this game, it may go both ways.

I guess we should follow the Memphis as long as they are winning. Right now, they are leading by 18 points against the Pacers, so this is a statement from Ja on what he can bring to the team, now this Memphis team now will be one of the hottest topic and it looks like if they win here they'll also make their own winning streak, like the Clippers.

This game is not over yet as Pacers were able to come back in the 2nd quarter. A once 18 points deficit by the Pacers are now down to 2 at the end of the first half. The score now is 56-58, so this game now is becoming interesting to watch. Good luck to the Pacers, I like this team to win.

Speaking of the Clippers, their streak might end today if Leonard is out.

At first glance I thought they'll lose but they are still on this game. OKC is just leading by a single digit, and though PG and Leonard are both out, please remember that there's still two superstar remaining that played on the same team with the Rockets, we got Harden and Westbrook bro.

I think you are making this complicated, let me summarize the points to consider in this contest based on the rules per OP.

1-Make sure the bets are settled within 21st December 23:59:59 UTC.
Explanation
(any bets that are settled outside that period is not anymore considered as valid entries. )

2-Must post betslip within 48 hours after settling.
Explanation
Post all your qualifying betslips within 48 hours after the cut off (within 21st December 23:59:59 UTC) as that's your entry to the contest.

3-After 48 hours of cut off time.
Explanation
After the 48 hours cut off time to post your qualifying betslips, the team and LM will determine the winners.
Lol nothing complicated buddy...

Was just trying to clear things out as a loophole in this round was found and there is a possibility of another loophole of say someone just placing 200 bets today the 21st and hope to have a 30% winning chance which means I have ~60bets in green and can post this on the 22nd as these are valid entries that fulfill the need to be settled before 21st December 23:59:59 UTC...
Yes, that's valid, so it's not a loophole. Unless you are trying to complicate the rules.

I'm sure LM will make an adjustment next time to make this contest more interesting, but as of now, we need to play with the rules.

Perhaps question should be , "when are winners going to be declared
It was already answered by LM if you will backread a bit, winners will be declared after the 48 hours period.

Quote
or does the contest thread remain open or locked after 23:59 ?" Cool

LOL! are you kidding me? If you really understand the rules, you would not ask this kind of question.

I have a very simple answer for you. If it will be locked after 23:59 (dec 21), how can we post our entries?
624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All thanks to my family they contributed and bought bitcoin for me on: December 21, 2023, 08:44:30 PM
Your decision to invest is absolutely right. You will gain more earning opportunities once you enter the market before bull run happens. Thanks to your strong support system, without them you will never make it in time. However, my only advice for you is to never see your bitcoin investment as a get rich quick. Invest for long term, that will help you understand and appreciate the real concept of bitcoin.

For now, focus on DCAing bitcoin. You still have more months to go before bull run appears, so make the best of it and just invest on the amount you can afford to lose.

Little Mouse means the time of December 21 is 23:59:59 UTC. that's the same as the forum time right? The problem is that tonight there are still some bets to be settled.
Meaning someone can post after 24hours because there is an allowance of late entries based on the rule of waiting for 48hrs for the bets to settle  Roll Eyes

Tbh, this just creates more work for LM and team as bets now have to be verified for any late entry especially if links are used without showing image of game bet on....

626  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reckless gambling starts after a win round. on: December 21, 2023, 02:21:20 PM
It always starts when they couldn't control their emotions or greed, they would surely come back and risk more once they experience a huge win.
Not if you won't experience winning at first.

This is usually the scenario;

1-A first time gambler tries, he won, so he will think that winning is easy. Next time, he come back to try to rake money again, but losses, that's where his ego are challenge and that where he would start chasing his losses as he believes he can always end up winning.

2-A first time gambler tries his luck and losses, the interest on gambling is over.

See, that's why those who are weak and doesn't want to get addicted in gambling, you'll have to be thankful if you losses at first try, so you'll not lose more money. That's a blessing in disguise.
627  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: December 21, 2023, 07:10:51 AM
A lot of surprised results in this games. I was trapped by the Celtics vs Warriors. Although Warriors is good at home, but they are facing the best team in the league and I thought that the Celtics are are going to cover the -4.5 to -5.5 spread.

But Curry delivered and then they forced the overtime game. And we haven't seen Curry really feeling the game. Even CP3 was happy seeing Curry burying that 3 against White.

It was suppose to be an easy win by the Celtics since Curry was into foul trouble, but it didn't happen because Curry's teammates ae playing hard, especially CP3 who find an open Curry and that 3 point shot from Curry gave them a good lead. CP3 aren't shooting well, he only had 4 points from 12 attempts but his assist department is very impressive as he finished the game with 12 assists. That number really says something about its effect on the team, without that number the Warriors would fall to the Celtics easily.

How about their rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis, he did a good job as well, and he has that one critical block in the game.
He was a hidden gem of the team. It seems like it's a blessing in disguise for this guy as he benefited from the absense of Draymond Green. I think he will continue to earn good minutes and as he continue to show some consistency, who knows, he might be at the starting 5 soon.

Klay Thompon's shooting is slowly showing some consistency though, especially in big games like their win against the Celtics, Game 6 Klay loves to show who he is.

I'm taking +7.5 for the Kings against the Boston Celtics live betting at 1.90. They are down double digits from the Celtics, but I think they will make a huge comeback in the last 2 quarters. Or at least make it close and enough for that handicap to be covered by them.

Too bad they didn't make a come back. Celtics despite playing a back to back game still win the game by 25 points. I guess Kings has to evaluate themselves, they should be more ready against a team like Celtics because they are very dominant and without improving their defense, they would struggle.

Celtics scored 144 points in a game, too much offense there.
628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Introducing bitcoin to the orphans on my birthday on: December 21, 2023, 12:14:59 AM
Great job OP. One day, you will be remembered because of your generosity and because of your genuine care to the orphans that made you decide to teach them and open their young minds to the world of bitcoin. Only seldom of the people who think and act like you do, so you must also be grateful to yourself for what bitcoin has done to you. Without bitcoin, I'm quite sure that your way of thinking will not be as genuine and proper just like this.

The kids are definitely the future of the universe. So it's important that we should open their awareness on things that would likely become their asset in the future, and bitcoin is a perfect example, that's why we have to teach them as early as today to develop motivation in learning bitcoin.
629  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How diverse is your crypto portfolio? on: December 20, 2023, 11:18:25 PM
Hi guys!
Just wanted to know how many cryptocurrencies you're invested in? And with what percentage of your portfolio (No need to mention the amounts involved, if you don't want to). Just want to get a general sense of how everyone's diversifying their crypto assets.
Most likely it's 70/30, 70% for bitcoin and 30% for altcoins. However, it's not really necessary to diversify your investment only limited to crypto, you would want to engage in physical investments as well like stocks, gold or real estate. Invest in bitcoin and diversify it with some other potential physical investments, that way you will lessen the risk from losing.

But asked about my personal investment, I would say my hard-earned money only goes to bitcoin for now. That is also in preparation for bitcoin halving which I think will be a very profitable time for bitcoin.
630  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are we expecting between now and Bitcoin halving? on: December 20, 2023, 10:46:39 PM
Do not expect that the price surge will appear continuously because that will never happen for a volatile coin like bitcoin. However, expect that there will be sudden price correction any time. It's better to prepare for it and become unbothered, than to resort into panic selling which will only result your investment into at loss.

Now if asked if you will continue to hold or take profits at some point, that depends on you. If you don't need your funds at the moment, then it's a wise idea to continue hodling until you will find good reason to sell and make decent profits.
631  Economy / Economics / Re: Setting up financial structures before going into the family way on: December 20, 2023, 10:21:39 PM
Love can wait, but living together without stable money, having nothing to spend for your wants and needs, and having nothing to pay for your bills really suck. That is why never get married when you think your finances is not ready yet, your finances is not enough, and you have no stable source of income that will consistently provide your family needs and wants. You will only build an unhealthy family.

Settling down is not a do or die, that if you won't get married early, you will never find a perfect match for you anymore. That's not the concept in marriage. Marriage is only for those who are both capable to raise a good family, by providing all the basic needs a family wants so that the kids as well will grow believing the right concept in marriage.
632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Whole Concept of Bitcoin is Failing! on: December 20, 2023, 06:07:26 PM
Change is the only constant in this world. So it's not surprising to see bitcoin concept not the same anymore. However, I believe what you have mentioned are the changes in bitcoin that only last temporarily. Transaction fees are high because there are already seen increased network activity which leads the market to be more congested. So we just have to wait for the regular fees to come back and make huge transactions again.

However, in order for bitcoin to improved and become more developed, certain changes may apply. But those will be positive changes that everyone will agree, and not something like this that everyone gets more confused.
633  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Shuffle.com ⚽ 🏈 Sports Betting Contest Discussion | Round 1 live on: December 20, 2023, 08:41:05 AM
1. Since I didn't put such rules, I will allow duplicate bet for this round but that's a valid concern and I'll make sure to deny any such bets in the future round.
If you don't post within 48 hours of settle, that won't be considered as valid entry.
Does that mean we can also make multiple entries from a single match while betting on different markets (handicap, totals, match winner, etc.) as long as it's within the minimum odds?

I guess I have to switch my strategy if that's the case. Wink

It's a loophole BigCoin95 used. Since we had no such rules, I will allow this time but from the next round, I may not allow this.
This is good for bettors like me who just recently find out about this contest, I need to make more bets now even on live betting on the same game just to make sure I'll get the minimum. I still have 24 hours tnough, I'm sure this will be fun. If the cut off is December 21, 2023, when are you going to announce the winner @LM?
634  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 20, 2023, 07:13:41 AM
Ja Morant is finally back and he did it with an awesome display of what he is capable of doing. In his return to the Grizzlies, Ja Morant led the way as they came back strong from 24 points down to beat the Pelicans, 115-113. What made the return more exceptional was when Morant made the buzzer shot to close the match.

The Memphis Grizzlies have 56 more matches left to play this season. The arrival of Morant could be late for them but if they can win 36 of those matches then they have a case to join the other playoff teams.
Poor defense by Pelicans. Anyway hopefully Ja Morant learned a lesson from that 25 games suspension and will start taking care his career more seriously! With him back in the league, the NBA will be more exciting and entertaining to watch. Hopefully, in the next game he can reduce his turnovers since in his season debut he had 5 turnovers. But still it was a great performance with a buzzer beater in the comeback appearance and season debut. Still hoping Memphis can make playoffs this season.
Let's forget about that turnover; most didn't expect him to have a great performance in his first game due to chemistry issues. If you look at the first half, it was apparent that this team wasn't going to win. However, in the second half, it was surprising to see them come back and even beat the Pelicans.

For a player who missed a lot of games and came back as the top scorer with 34 points and a high shooting percentage, that's truly impressive. Ja Morant's performance proves that he is the one and only superstar of the team. And as we have seen before, without him, the team struggles, but now they're back to looking like a playoff team.
635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Succeeded in introducing Bitcoin to a friend on: December 19, 2023, 11:32:54 PM
If you know and understand bitcoin well, you will never disclose whatever amount of bitcoin you have because that's still considered a digital cash, your kind of asset that you need to keep it privately away from the awareness of other people even your closest friend or relative. Because once you do that, the safety of your bitcoin will now be at risk, thus putting your wallet as well from the danger of future hacks or scams.

I understand that you come to overshared what you have, and it's definitely not the right thing to do when you are in an investment. There's no issues with educating your friend about bitcoin and bitcointalk forum, but never risk your own privacy just to successfully convince your friend to invest in bitcoin. In bitcoin, there's no one you can trust but only yourself so learn not to be easily trusting even to your closest friends.
636  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you still appreciates the price of Bitcoin if it hasn't be your history price on: December 19, 2023, 10:59:45 PM
Bitcoin price history is just part of the past, and there's no even concrete reason if history will still repeat itself, so I don't put too much emphasis on the price history but most particularly on the future price of bitcoin. We all know that bitcoin has a brighter future because of its huge potentials to succeed, and most likely will continue to skyrocket its price as long as it's capable to.

Once we decide to invest in bitcoin, then we need to appreciate its price every now and then. Although it's undeniable that bitcoin has also its inevitable lows, but because the people believed in it, people have seen high utility case for bitcoin, then definitely bitcoin will not disappoint us in return as long as we have the patience to wait and understand the market's uncertainty.
637  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The most difficult times on: December 19, 2023, 10:36:17 PM
If we can trade just like how professional traders do it, then most likely it will gain the highest positive outcome. However, it's hard for beginners to act as if they are skilled and reputable traders when they are still learning the process to trade. That's the most difficult time in trading, assessing yourself if you are reliable to do it or just quit in the process while you are still not losing too much.

But, no matter how difficult trading is, it can always be study and learned, so beginners have no reason to quit but to endure the difficulties in trading until one will find himself good enough to trade and combat losses. After all, mastery in trading do not just happen instantly, there's always a process that one should familiarize and mastered in the long run.
638  Economy / Economics / Re: Learn to use DEBT in a proper way to create asset on: December 19, 2023, 09:17:51 PM
Debt is not something good in a general perspective do let's not make it appears as if one is bad and the other is good, most people that have been into debt have always lamented of why they took the decision at the first place, we don't seems to understand the comfort we have without being in debt like when we out ourselves in debt, many use to struggle before they can make the repayment of their debt back to their creditors, because it's never easy to pay back debt except by grace.
I don't think taking a debt falls on the good side of it because if we analyze it deeply, debts have growing interest that will definitely put us buried if we can't pay it on time due to some other unpredicted financial problems that will suddenly arise. Debts will only serve as a distraction for us no matter how we say and try to convince ourselves that we also benefit from it in times where we are empty handed.

If you consider this mindset that it's okay to have some debts because it will also serve it's purpose at some point, but knowing you have to pay it back with additional interest, that thing is always bad on my own perspective.

640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin create an opportunity to reduce poverty? on: December 19, 2023, 02:37:46 PM
I believe learning bitcoin has always been free since everything is already laid in the internet, one just need to do its due diligence to study  so that he will come to understand bitcoin and the rest of the crypto market.

However, when asked if bitcoin provides opportunity to reduce poverty, yes it really is. But majority of the people do not know or do not care about this since all they believe is that bitcoin is a ponzi scheme and a big threat to the government. Only those bitcoin enthusiasts are aware about this, the reason why everyone in the bitcoin community is really struggling to save money to purchase bitcoin even at a minimal amount.

On the other hand, poverty cannot be totally eradicated but it can somehow be reduced having bitcoin as a tool. And in order to do that, one must personally gain sufficient knowledge in bitcoin so he can use it smartly to create big positive changes in his life. I've known a lot of people who's lives are improved with bitcoin, but it takes a lot of patience and persistency in the market to make it happen.
