761  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does addicted gamblers only lose money all the time on: May 27, 2024, 10:38:21 AM
On this board, we are always referring addiction as a terrible thing but does it mean that those addicted gamblers doesn't win money, are they only bounded to losses upon losses?
Every form of addition is bad; the addicted person doesn't always know they are addicted; most times, is such alone not enough to consider gambling a bad thing?

Someone can't be unlucky for the rest of their life. Definitely, sometimes they will win from gambling, and most of the other times they will lose to the game, which is normal for every gambler.

But the only thing here is that if you become a gambling addict and don't seek help very quickly, no matter how much money you win from gambling, it will never be put to good use. The gambler will always end up losing it all back to the casino, which is what most of them do, and when they lose it all back to gambling, what is the gain of hitting the jackpot?

Mostly, those who fall into gambling addiction didn’t realize that they have some gambling problems. If you ask them, they’ll only respond as if they are gambling like any responsible gamblers. But in reality, even if they make big wins and small losses, the fact that they are gambling addicts, they won’t be satisfied with their winnings and only want to gamble more hoping to win bigger amount. But knowing gambling, it won’t let you win every time you bet, but most likely you’ll end up losing at times.

Unfortunately, they’re blind with that realization, until they end up reaching that point where they have no food to eat and shelter to live. When they starve to death and become homeless, that’s when they realized that they were victims of gambling addiction.
762  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Looking to buy huge Bitcoin on: May 26, 2024, 11:59:26 PM
Hey I'm looking to buying Bitcoin in amount of $5-10 M .
Seller must pass Satoshi text. If you got any advice or leads, it'll be appreciated.

1. You seem somewhat clueless on what you want, or you at least have some odd terminology.  ..."Seller must pass Satoshi text."?
2. 5-10M you say? Then get a business (exchange) help you with this.
I guess OP is clueless what he’s entering. Bitcoin is a good investment but it should not be taken that’s too serious most especially if you are a beginner. Either if he’s just tricking us or he’s actually unaware what he’s talking about.

And if ever he has that $5-10m, I don’t think he should put all his eggs in one basket. He should learn to diversify instead and not just focus on bitcoin or in the crypto world. He can engage in real estate or stocks if what he really aims is huge amount of returns.
763  Other / Meta / Re: Is this forum getting worse and worse? on: May 26, 2024, 11:47:04 PM
Probably the lack of people reading crypto news and stories that really matters is the big problem, most of the people that post topics that don't matter are usually newbies that doesn't really know any better and that they're just trying to get in. I guess it's a matter of us doing what needs to be done so we can keep the fresh content coming in, it's a really good thing that this thing has been pointed out, it's making sure that people are aware and hopefully, they will add some more substance to the discussion. Another thing that I'd like to point out is that the more the forum is introduced to more people then the more likely it is that we will get more shitposters but that's not a sure thing to happen.
We can’t hold those people if they want to leave the forum and quit. There are still a lot of reputable members left that can contribute to the welfare of the forum. However, I also believe that the current problem is the lack of interest of learning new updates and news about cryptocurrency. It should be a necessity for all members in the forum to acquire knowledge every now and then and bring it into the forum since we all know learning should be taken everyday and not just when its only needed to, most especially that we are trying to retain the interest of the old and new members here, then let’s be responsible enough to do our part as a member in order to make this forum more alive and genuinely interesting.
764  Economy / Economics / Re: How to improve your condition? on: May 26, 2024, 11:27:32 PM
You have to try your best to improve your condition government will not do anything here. If you want to accumulate large sums of money or wealth so that you can live independently if the economy goes bad later or later in life, you need to start investing. And you should not limit your investments to risk-free options as you can take risks and you will have enough time to grow your wealth but starting investments early has a higher chance of creating huge wealth in the long run.
A life that is not prepared will never end well because we do not have the preparation to start and very often people do not have a plan to achieve something they want. Investment must also be seen from a person's ability to be responsible and if today our capital is quite limited then there must be a solution to this problem.

Do Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) and make a consistent percentage of purchases at the specified time, then this pattern can provide an opportunity for anyone to increase the amount of bitcoin ownership.
Opportunities are always there as long as we are willing to make good use of them, even though the method is not as easy as for people who have a lot of capital.
Life sees no improvement if you only see things in a simpler way. Don’t just settle on risk-free things where you are comfortable with but learn to embrace more new and risky ones like investing as that will pave way to improve your life’s condition. I believe if job opportunities are limited in your country, then don’t settle on jobs but create more ways to gain decent income. Enhance your knowledge and skills first and make calculated risks so that if ever you enter into any investment like bitcoin, success will be more visible than mistakes and losses.
765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exposure to bitcoin at young age on: May 26, 2024, 10:59:12 PM
~
Exposure to finance-related stuff in general is a good thing imo. Not that young ofc, probably around mid-late teens. It doesn't have to be Bitcoin specifically, just letting the kid know the importance of money, what tax is, what investments are, and stuff like that is already a good start. And then maybe at their early 20s you could then start talking and teaching about more complicated stuff and maybe letting them do it themselves e.g. investments, filing taxes (just filling up forms to know what it means) and stuff like that.
Right, it’s still a good thing to let these kids become aware at their earlier age about finance related. Like how to save money so they can learn how to value their expenses whether they’re necessary or not really, and when they’re mature enough ready to understand about more complicated things, that’s the right time that they can start exposing theirselves into bitcoin or other ways of investments.

For now, since bitcoin is still not considered as a global currency, kids might not be interested learning on it but if in the future bitcoin will be considered as one, I think it’s the right of every child to learn about bitcoin and its value even at a young age.
766  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in match fixing? on: May 26, 2024, 09:59:34 PM
Illegal under all circumstances, match fixing can devastate football's credibility once proven. While there are some cases where players or officials are believed to be involved in such actions (which usually means that they have broken rules and will face serious consequences), this is not common and typically involves both parties knowingly breaking these rules during the game. The incident with Tottenham and Manchester City might simply be coincidental; errors or poor decisions made during matches form part of the sport.

In general, most football organizations aim to preserve the integrity of the game. As for a match-fixing conspiracy theory, I think this must be based on real grounds and strong evidence, because otherwise this will only further damage people's trust in football. Therefore let's take an assessment based on facts and real evidence.
Exactly. While match fixing is not legal in all aspects, but it should also be supported with reliable proofs and evidences and not just by any heresays. Because first and foremost, not all players or coaches fall on match fixing, as majority still want to achieve the good integrity and reputation of the game. Except for those who have selfish intentions from the start the reason why they have to deliberately get involved theirselves in such game. Otherwise, if match fixing is not proven by proofs and honest evidences, this match fixing will never be stopped or even prevented.
767  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Day streaming as gambler experience on: May 26, 2024, 09:17:35 PM
Lately, I have started day streaming as a sponsored gambler on one of the casinos I use to be a tester there, I chose one of the known platforms to start my stream, bought the gadgets I need even though Unfortunately I live in a country where the internet speed is limited, the quality of my stream isn’t as good as other popular streamers, however, I have got much support from the community and viewers, had fun and good slot hits.
For now my experience is pretty good for now, but I certainly need some advices from you to upgrade my channel, community, and how to grow and to the next step.

Do you think it is a bad thing to do, promoting gambling?

It depends on other people's eyes, but for me, even if we say that the promotion of gambling is bad and the other influencers who promote gambling are actually canceled, we can't take away that , we can't stop it because that's what in today's social media and it is one of the sources of income mostly for streamers and influencers so I also understand that they do promotion for money. maybe it's better to give disclaimers so that children can't watch it because they might copy it and think it's just a normal game.

Let’s just accept the reality that gambling will always be bad for those who actually don’t understand the nature of gambling. But for us who see the benefits of gambling, we have all the freedom to promote as long as it’s done responsibly and cautiously, meaning not tempting the minors to do gambling unless they have reached their maturity age and not encouraging the gamblers to fall into gambling addiction knowing it can never be good at all.

While gambling carries risk and is very tempting, but we all know it can always be controlled and prevented by not putting gambling as the means to provide food on the table, but should only serve as a means for fun and entertainment.
768  Other / Meta / Re: Some people that left this forum recently on: May 25, 2024, 10:59:38 PM
I don’t think anybody should care about them that much. It would be good if they didn’t leave but maybe they found a better place to hang out who knows? There are super newbie accounts popping up every once in a while and they will become legendaries soon and make up for the losses of the old big names. As long as there is an incentive to post, the forum will always attract good posters and good posters will attract more readers and the cycle will keep feeding itself.
Just like bitcoin, the forum is not for everyone. Although they might make some efforts of learning and knowledge acquisition, but eventually, they quit and leave the forum. Maybe because the interest is no longer there or they just turned lazy to keep updated with the forum.

However, I don’t think this will create a problem. The forum is widely open so expect that if there are people who chose to leave, others will also take the chance entering the forum. It’s just that we all have different impression with the forum, some find it an ideal place to stay longer and become more educated about crypto while some are just good for visiting only.
769  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What type of a trader/investor is this? on: May 25, 2024, 10:33:43 PM
I could be wrong but that is not a real trader/investor. If you are a smart person, you can't just let go of your hands, you will certainly take it.
IMHO, I don't believe such a story. Imagine it is more than a 100% increase, in fact, some people sell their coins even with just a small increase. If not greediness, I don't think this person is aware of the situation.

But to assume it was true, then I can say that this person lives in greediness. Contentment is not in his mind but instead, aiming for more. Many people suffer from this kind of mental disease and to find out that those people have never improved as they always missed the chance.
I must say this is quite unbelievable for me also. You cannot just slip within your hands ignoring the chance to be of huge profits while the biggest opportunity is already in front of you. Even newbies in the market cannot just pass through this without selling, most especially that everyone here aims to make quick profits.

However, if this is actually a real life experience of a crypto investor, then it’s obvious that he enters into bitcoin without understanding how it works. Even if we say this man is highly greedy, by just selling the coins right away he will gain exceptional profits instantly, except if this story is not real and just created through a wild imagination.
770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are banks against cryptocurrency? on: May 25, 2024, 09:14:48 PM
It is wrong to say the bank is not against bitcoin because if you refer to what I experienced a few years ago when I worked at one of the private banks they clearly did not like the bitcoin scheme and indirectly provided a doctrine that there were indeed differences in understanding that were different between the bank system adopted by bitcoin which of course this made a competition because even though the purpose of bitcoin was not as a competitor to the bank but still there would be such an assumption.

No doubt I also previously hated bitcoin because I was part of the bank even though I was only a small worker there so it was wrong to say the bank did not like and oppose it, it's just that they also couldn't do anything about it because all regulations ultimately did not come from the bank but from the government and the bank could not take care of other problems such as bitcoin because in the end they also had their own duties.

In this case everything refers back to the government but why the government is silent without any more treatment because it goes back to the main problem where bitcoin is currently decentralized and forever like that so the government will not be able to interfere further except maybe stigmatizing and making some buzz so that bitcoin is considered bad but that also ultimately does not have a big impact on bitcoin.
I myself has already experienced this. Months ago, I was in a bank trying to open an account, but when they found out that one of my sources of income is from bitcoin investment, they really become honest with me that if ever unusual amount of deposits will be seen in my account, they’ll close the account with prior notice. So from there, I realized that banks are not actually friendly with bitcoin, even if you are putting high amount of deposits in their bank. Although it’s not the bank that can be totally blame here, but knowing banks are slaves of the government, still I end up hating that bank’s policy that’s too unfair for bitcoin.
771  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A lot of people in this section do not understand basic gambling concepts. on: May 25, 2024, 08:52:12 PM
Of course experienced players understand that no amount of effort you make that will make you consistently win above the casino even though you win at some point, at other times you lose more than you won. Likewise, those newbies coming up with new strategies of martingale or whatnots, they could just win few times with what strategy they got and later the winning discontinues. As far as you are gambling, you don't have a percentage of higher winning rate than the house even with VIP account, this is the reality about gambling.
As far as gambling is concern, the house edge will always be certain, while the players will definitely face the high risk to lose. Regardless if you have VIP account or not, still that won’t change the fact that gambling profits will mostly go to the house while leaving the players struggle to win some decent gains. Otherwise, if it’s going to be the other way around, hence giving all these players the opportunities to win, gambling as a business will never stay longer in the market.
772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The difference between gamblers and real Bitcoin investors? on: May 24, 2024, 11:38:02 PM
Between two gamblers or investors, they are also investing in the same way, just different in the category in which their capital will be used. The other is gambling, where the chances of losing the capital you have are high, that you don't need any research to be done just so you can play and win gambling, that you can get lucky in the jackpot, and that you can also be unlucky in gambling.

Whereas in investment, the chances are high that your ROI will be good if you invest in the right investment, and since your comparison is with bitcoin investors, there is no doubt that our ROI will be good for the future with the capital we will use today.
Right, gambling is a kind of investment as well, wherein you invest your money to make more money but the rate to grow your money is lesser than the chance to lose it all. Hence, gambling is never a reliable investment. However, if you invest in the highly potential investments like bitcoin and real estate, the chance to be in profits is definitely high, as long as you know what you are doing and you are doing calculated risks in your investment.

Being a gambler and an investor may create a similar and certain goal but are totally different when it comes to skills and strategies being applied.
773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I just woke up and saw wins in my gambling app on: May 24, 2024, 11:06:05 PM

This is another reason why gambling can not be a job or anything like a source of income cause you can't know your games would play out and no predictions is ever accurate.

If you have such experience share it with us let's see the luck guys around.

Gambling can't ever be a source of income or a cash cow even if a gambler thinks that he has found a pattern that he can use to win, unfortunately, so many newbies fall into this trap and it takes them a large amount of losses before they realize that luck and not pattern are the keys to win gambling.

Doubling or multiplying your money is very attractive for gamblers but they fail to realize that the gambling platform is a profit-oriented company, for every ten bettors only 1 or two will come out a winner, and sometimes none or there are no winners.
Gamblers do not consistently win in gambling, but they often lose most of their betting capital. And even if they have found patterns to win, there is no guarantee that it will always be granted since the edge to win is always on the casino house, not on the gamblers. This is why there’s no assurance to be in consistent profits with gambling. You can be lucky and make a big win, but most of the time you end up losing all your funds and go home with empty pocket.
774  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does prediction in sport work for you? on: May 24, 2024, 10:37:15 PM
I've always said that if a person were very good at predicting the outcome of games, that person wouldn't waste time creating a website, creating a Telegram group, creating YouTube channels to give tips, that person would be spending the money they would win with the right bets he would make, this person would be traveling, enjoying the good life. It doesn't make any sense that a person who is good at predicting games is poor and is charging money for the tips they give on their Telegram channels, website or YouTube. But people who are too lazy to analyze games in person don't take the time to think that it's not normal that a person who is good at predicting game results is wasting time charging for tips on Telegram channels.
If he is undeniably good, he would keep it to himself and continue winning from his bets. He wouldn’t waste his time sharing to everyone in social media or any gambling site that his prediction is like this and like that because that could only mean he’ll be held responsible if other bettors follow him and lose in the end. Instead, he’ll maximize his winning opportunities by focusing more on his skill to accurately predict more games outcome, and not wasting his time trying to influence other people to bet and follow his predictions.
775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do your parents invest in bitcoin ? on: May 24, 2024, 09:17:19 PM
Are your parents investing in bitcoin ? Has it impacted your journey with crypto ?
I have been educating my parents about bitcoin way back then. But I don’t have plans to encourage them to invest in a high risky investment like bitcoin. They’re both senior citizens so it’s hard for them to control their emotions when they see their investments are falling. And the fact that both of them are taking heart medication, so it’s really not advisable for them to enter into investments that would risk their own condition.

And I think not having them in crypto is quite a relief for more. At least I can focus on my own investment most particularly in times of a tough market that is quite risky to deal.
776  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Story of my life on: May 23, 2024, 11:58:33 PM
What positive results you are talking? Is it winning?

Well, I guess what you are doing is just trying not to be addicted with gambling, so with less gambling activities, you don't think about it much. Actually the missing factor is only discipline, because even if you are gambling on a regular basis but you have that discipline, you'll certainly get the positive things you are looking. Most of us are aiming to win, but we know for the fact that gambling does not make everyone a winner, in fact only few of us, so we have to understand that reality so we will not expect too much especially if we know in ourselves that we are not doing good in terms of profitability.
Well, it’s certain the more you deprived yourself from gambling, the less losses that you’ll incur, and the less chances to win as well. If your aim is not to lose anymore, then better to stay away from gambling for good.

However, I must agree @Natalim that even if you gamble regularly, as long as you instill discipline in your gambling habits, you will never suffer from a consistent loss. Of course, losses are inevitable in gambling, but if you gamble responsibly and you don’t see gambling as your means to earn a living, you can prevent yourself from too much losses most especially if you gamble with your hard-earned money.
777  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling bad to the society? on: May 23, 2024, 11:36:24 PM
...

Secondly what are the social problem caused by gambling?
(1) Depression and suicide
(2) bankruptcy, family-break up
(3) domestic abuse
(4) assault, fraud
(5) theft, and even homeless
Addiction to gambling is link to a range of serious personal and social harm such as those things I mentioned. These effects can be devastating to the individual as well as their friends, family, workplaces and community.
...

gambling is entertainment and this is the reason why quite a lot of developed countries have legalized gambling, but the negative effect that can result when gambling too often is addiction, so for those who cannot manage their emotions, gambling is a nightmare trap, but for those who really can manage their emotions and manage their money well, gambling is the best entertainment that can really relieve fatigue, especially when you get the jackpot, so gambling is bad for only a few groups of people.
This is the reason why gambling can’t be totally banned because aside that the country is making a regular income from it, some good and responsible gamblers end up lucky and win big amount and make a good earning. But for those who gamble irresponsibly and mismanage their funds due to greed for money, they end up messing up their money and lose all of them and turn homeless. So it’s not actually gambling the cause of life’s destruction, but it’s certainly the wrong motivation and wrong thinking of individual gamblers towards gambling.
778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could China (or similar) take control of Bitcoin? on: May 23, 2024, 10:00:02 PM
I don’t think that it is possible but with what you have narrated, China could cause a huge impact if they wanted. And if it happened, The technical implication of it would be FUD. People will be scared of losing their funds. To the broader cryptocurrency sector, confidence will be gone, miners may want to diversify geographically to avoid such from happening again.
I have to agree with you. Bitcoin can hardly become in control with any country even if it’s China, the most influential and the most controlling country in the world. We’ve seen how many times it failed with bitcoin, and even if there are big miners and owners of bitcoin in China, that won’t create a warranty and assurance that bitcoin will be easily controlled by them. Bitcoin is way more highly decentralized, so any country or government who wish to take full control for bitcoin might only fail but may leave a huge impact on bitcoin itself.
779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will always Survive on: May 22, 2024, 11:59:57 PM
Bitcoin will remain a leader in any respect. In terms of market capacity, it may be displaced in the future. In terms of fees, there are cheaper blockchains. In terms of privacy or development, there are better projects, but in the end, Bitcoin remains Bitcoin, and with all the problems of scalability, there is still betting on it, which will gain it demand that will make it. Among them are among the best cryptocurrency options.
That's the only problem that I believe will occur in the future for bitcoin because of its high
fee when there is congestion making many of its users  changing to other altcoins for this matter
but aside from that as the security is concern? people will continue supporting bitcoin an so this
will stay many years from now specially as the last sets of bitcoin is yet be mined?
That’s not actually a problem if you don’t pressure yourself on selling your coins and just hold them for a while until the market gets back to normal. After all, we don’t often experience congestion in the market and I think the developers are doing something to avoid it as much as possible.

Bitcoin will continue to survive as long as we are here to keep the demand. Otherwise, if a lot of people will leave bitcoin and shift into another crypto, bitcoin will come to its end and there’s no way it will continue to exist in the market. Just simple as that.
780  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is boxing the worst sport to bet on? on: May 22, 2024, 11:43:07 PM
You just have to pick who is the more popular boxer, and of course there are upsets, but most of the time the odd makers favored or pick the correct winner. I do agree, there are corruption here. Who wouldn't forget how the South Koreans screw up Roy Jones Jr in the Olympics?

And now we have the Sulaiman's of the WBC as corrupt as any governing body in any sports.

But still though, there are a lot of boxing fans here, with the amount of threads being open for every fight and you can see that there are a lot of knowledgeable members here as far as boxers and can predict the outcome of the fight.
Boxing may be known for how corrupt the officials are, but that won’t stop these fans not to bet in boxing. For as long as their idols are sticking to boxing, that will make them continue to bet more.

The only solution here is never expect too much in boxing because no matter how good your favorite player is, once dirty fight continues, you will never see assurance in boxing. Just bet on the amount you can afford to lose so you won’t keep regretting in the end.
