Who cares if they were mining? Its not hidden just because they dont put out a press release about it. They are allowed to mine whatever they want just like anyone else. Its so stupid you guys attribute these nefarious things to them when they are just a company trying to make money, just like everyone else.
Nothing is stopping any of you from developing your own miner and running it without telling anyone or selling it.
P.S. ETH isnt the only coin you can mine with a GPU so its extra silly to complain about it like they are going to take all GPU miners down for mining one of over 1000 GPU minable coins

The trick with ASICs is you need a lot of them to succeed. If you just have 3-4 you are always chasing whats next, but if you have a few hundred of thousand and you can ROI in months and make huge profits afterwards. It all comes down to power cost. If you have 3 cent power you are still making $50 a month off of an S7 even when the S9 replacement is right around the corner.

Best fix is to run linux and never have to worry about Windows and its garbage drivers anymore. Your profits will increase from the stability alone.

Product fails under warranty and the customer is liable for return shipping? No compensation? Yet another reason I'll not be buying Halong products.
As much as I dont like halong, your complaint doesnt make much sense. Most warranties do not cover shipping, not just in this industry but in the world as a whole.

* help needed *
hi guys i received my dragonmint t1
i was not able to the pool i wanted
is it only possible to mine on slush and ck? i dont like these pools at all there are more profitable o es but if i enter the details it keeps loading and not connecting is it hence only possible to mine on 2 pools
also only bitcoin core?
i see this as a major disadvantage
also on slush i only got 15.5 roughly on avg per miner i havent changed anything on settings
would be great if someone can help with these simple but very important questions
If you read this thread at all you would realize that this miner is only good for bitcoin and only on specific pools, its one of the more messed up things Halong did. They sold these for months before telling people this.

I believe the majority of devs for alt-coins would agree ASIC's [At this current time] are a plague to this space. Mainly because one manufacturer runs the show and therefore risks centralization of mining by one dominant party with potentially more than 50% of the network hash.
NO ONE COMPANY should be trusted with the manufacturing and distribution of money printing machines.
With that said, I can see your point and agree with you in regards to AN INDIVIDUAL being oppressed by their government in regards to hardware costs, import duties, VAT, etc... to price you out of being profitable as a GPU miner. I'm sorry, but for the sake of decentralization in mining of a coin, we cannot throw decentralization of mining to the winds so those who are oppressed by their government can mine with hardware that WILL NOT PROMOTE DECENTRALIZATION IN MINING.
YOU are the one who is whining!
I suggest you invest your energy and efforts towards your oppressive CENTRALIZED government rather than complaining about the community of a DECENTRALIZED CURRENCY not cooperating with your oppressive CENTRALIZED government to make getting into mining more financially viable for you.
So again, heres the thing. ASICs do not equal centralization, anyone can buy them, run them, and point them where they want. All you people talk about decentralization as it is some buzzword to trump all others when I dont think you quite have the grasp of what it is. Just because Bitmain is the first to release a miner, does not make it the only manufacturer capable of producing them. You realize Innosilicon, Halong, BW, Obelisk and Baikal (im probably forgetting one or two) all make altcoin ASICs as well right? In the bitcoin space there is even more competition. Just because bitmain is the largest doesnt make them the only one. Heres another example of your centralization fallacy...I run a large datacenter. I manage over 10,000 GPUs here (and 11k ASICs). As a bulk buyer I get priority over other customers when I order GPUs, and I can run as many as I want here. The only difference is the GPU systems are a pain in the ass and the ASICs are more of a 'set it and forget it' item. Large scale mining on GPUs is already happening...do you really think the shortage of cards was from you hobby miners running 6 or 12 cards? No it was people like me buying them by the thousand until the market ran out of cards to sell. The 12 cards you run versus my 10,000 doesnt help with decentralization at all by your definition of it. You use the word ignorance, which is a bit funny because you are a shining example of it. You read all this crap on the forums about ASIC BAD, then regurgitate it like it was your own independent thought. P.S. Ill put your few years of hobby mining up against my years of experience in this industry if you want to brag about how long you have been doing it.

Are you running on 220v power with that PSU or 110v? That kind of inconsistency is usually power related.

If you factory reset it and let it run with the default antpool info does it run?

They come with a 6 month warranty now, id double check the serial number. Bitmains site has a warranty checker so you can confirm.

One thing to note on the compressors, most all have a relief valve for the tank that you need to use regularly to prevent water buildup in the tank. If you are going to spray with a compressor make sure to test it on your skin or a piece of paper so you can be sure there is no moisture in the lines. Ive had larger compressors spray quite a bit of water.

The quickest permanent fix is to reimage with a proper linux mining OS.
Mining in Windows is like taking the short bus to school...sure it gets you there, but everyone else will be laughing at you ( and profiting over you )
nah i have 30 rigs all win 10 , never had a problem liniux is way more anoying to me. windows u just have to know what you are doing and disable the right stuff I have 350 Windows rigs and 1300 Linux rigs. I can tell you it takes more support time to keep those 350 running than the entire lot of 1300 rigs. Not sure how using the proper tool is annoying. Learning stimulates the brain, give it a try

How is it a scam when they were giving you something for free?

Your problem is Windows specific, it reserves like 500mb of RAM on each card and thats whats screwing up the DAG. Those same cards still mine fine on Linux. Dump the Windows install and use a proper OS and you can keep mining for a long time to come.

You need to use canned air or a compressor and BLOW the dust off. A vacuum is the wrong tool for the job.

Thanks for this link Philipma1957 - I just read the whole thread and will be tweaking my L3+s and L3++'s tonight! Could I ask you a question? I have been looking for a watt meter for testing wattage use on my miners but am having real difficulty finding one that will work with 240V. Could I ask which one you use (brand/model) or if you could recommend one?
Thanks!
A standard Kill-A-Watt meter will read up to 240v, just dont run more than 1800w/8amps through it.

What do you mean when you apply firmware it doesnt 'hold'?
WHen you fresh flash that auto tune firmware did you give it like 30 minutes to start hashing? They wont hash immediately on fresh firmware.
P.S. The hardware version being blank just means that bminer isnt running, its not a symptom of anything else.

The T2 at Consensus
Innosilicon Branding?!
Maybe they have realized they have already royally screwed up the Halong Mining name with the poor quality out of spec machines, missed delivery schedules, and non competitive pricing.

#1 feedback: People want to buy from a company they trust, if you cant spend the time to read these forum rules and post in the proper space, how are people supposed to make large scale purchases from your company with confidence?

I am always looking to help out new projects. I can throw some hashrate your way for testing. I can throw up a 4TH s7 that I use for personal testing on your network for as long as needed and for short term stress testing I can throw quite a bit more hashrate up if required. I have more experience running BTC miners than pretty much anyone around as I currently manage over 11,000 ASICs right now, so im pretty sure my feedback will be of the type that you are looking for. Id also be willing to sign an NDA if that makes you more comfortable with sharing the details of your project.
