1041  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: bought a s9 off craigslist and not sure if it's defective or if I'm just a noob on: December 04, 2017, 09:41:09 PM
If you had a board with shared power connectors im betting thats the damaged one. This is, for the billionth time, why you do not buy miners from random people.
1042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My machine doesn't detect the CPU for mining. on: December 04, 2017, 09:32:11 PM
CPU mining on a 5 year old processor will just lose you money, you should consider this a blessing in disguise.
1043  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 04, 2017, 06:39:23 PM
Mine just left China today as well.
1044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 6 RX 570/480/580 cards: Issues setting up rig PLEASE HELP! on: December 04, 2017, 05:08:16 PM
The answer is to stop wasting time with Windows and just setup a linux mining build. It is more stable and reliable without all the bullshit problems windows brings to the table.

I honestly dont understand why people support mining under windows.
1045  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining Equipment Temp Ranges on: December 04, 2017, 05:03:32 PM
50-60c is on the very low end of miner temps. Also, you do not want to dump AC directly into the unit. The s9 will run over 110c chip temps, if your temps are that low you dont need AC, just some ventilation to prevent hot air accumulation.
1046  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer D3 - is Remote access over Domain possible? on: December 04, 2017, 04:59:24 PM
Use a VPN, you do not want to have them accessible in any way on the public internet.

Id look into something like this:

http://www.pivpn.io/

$35 RPi and some time and you are safe and secure.
1047  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon4-Avalon6 50-foot interconnect cable on: December 04, 2017, 04:55:22 PM
I feel like the cabling for that would be more than just buying another RPi and running them separately
1048  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: bitmain S7 only run 1,557 TH ? Help me? on: December 04, 2017, 04:34:09 PM
Sounds like only 1 of your 3 boards is hashing.
1049  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 741 how to use 2 psu? on: December 04, 2017, 04:31:55 PM
The controller is powered internally. When you turn the first board on it will power up, when you turn the second board on it will reboot itself.
1050  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7-LN blinks red, but hashes just fine on: December 04, 2017, 04:31:00 PM
Check the kernel log?
1051  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can't connect to Antminer S1 - tried everything I could think of on: December 04, 2017, 04:29:57 PM
Easiest way to rectify the situation is to go throw the miner in the trash. Its completely useless at this point.
1052  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 PSU 2880w? on: December 01, 2017, 07:48:59 PM
PSU is the most critical component, and doesn't depreciate like miners. Don't cheap out... Get it from a reputable manufacture.

You say that yet you post you are running an ATX power supply. ATX power supplies are not meant to handle near their full rated output 24/7/365. They are a terrible choice for bitcoin miners.
1053  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3+ on: November 30, 2017, 07:09:07 PM
The L3+ is manufactured by Bitmain and noone else. No idea where you got that other random name.
1054  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminers vs Avalon - Which start better in the cold? on: November 30, 2017, 07:06:19 PM
Bitmains power supplies are just garbage. I have no cold start problems using higher end server PSUs. I have started my miners (s7, s9, e9, and Avalon 741s) around 0c before. They will not run at full speed until they warm up, but other than that you shouldnt have many problems if 5c is the lowest temp you will see.

Thanks fanatic26. Can you recommend a spec for "higher end server PSU's" and possibly where to buy them online? Preferably 1600W so they can run S9's.

The Delta 2400w units the parallelminer sells are brand new high quality units. I have tested them personally over 92% efficiency. Right now those would be my suggestions for S9 power supplies.
1055  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain issues on: November 30, 2017, 04:10:32 PM
There have been delays on shipping the November batch and sometimes bitmain is just bad at communicating.
1056  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Do you switch coins? on: November 28, 2017, 05:33:02 PM
Chasing profitability by coin hopping will just end up losing you money. Your best bet is to mine one of the big, stable coins (ZEC or ETH most likely as they are consistantly highly profitable). From there if you want to speculate on other coins you can convert to that coin and hodl it.
1057  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What do you think about Bitmain new video cards with Tensor Computing Processor on: November 28, 2017, 05:27:13 PM
This is very sad news for me. This means Bitmain feels threatned about there ASIC buissnies that they feel they need to pivot becourse they wont make money on ASICs anymore. Means cheaper ASICs for us tho Cheesy

You all seem very confused. These arent video cards, they arent made for mining at all. These are deep learning accelerator cards made for a specific purpose that has nothing to do with gaming or mining.

Also to the above comment, what you say has no basis in reality.

1. Large companies routinely have more than one market they service. Nobody said Mitsubishi was getting out of the electronics game because they put out a new automobile.

2. How is making something that has NOTHING TO DO with mining pivoting on their business model? How do you even presume to understand how their business works, going around telling people things that are blatantly false?

3. Again nothing to do with ASICs so no, nothing will be cheaper.
1058  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF Miner not Detecting Gpu's 7 & 8 (Out of 8) on: November 28, 2017, 05:21:43 PM
--solver 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7  <---this is wrong as well, all of your cards should be using solver 0, you shouldnt even need this line in your config
1059  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RIP DASH MINING on: November 28, 2017, 05:17:47 PM
Dash can go up to $1000 and you will still make less than $10 a day with a dash miner vs everything else.

This whole D3 fiasco should be a learning experience for people. When a coin is transitioning from GPU to ASIC, you cant calaculate the ASIC profit based on the GPU difficulty.....
1060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ARM processors with Mali Octacore - ignored by mining coders, why? on: November 28, 2017, 05:16:03 PM
If there was a way to mine and make a profit without using a lot of electricity every single person on here would be doing it. If you want to mine, move to somewhere with reasonable power rates.
