They should move to Switzerland, where the government doesn't tax or mess with you for being involved with cryptocurrencies.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/4r9yud/the_current_hf_status/The Current HF Status submitted an hour ago by vbuterin1) The implementation has been largely spec-frozen to the following python: # call before running transactions def initialize(): if state.block_number == DAO_HARDFORK_BLKNUM: for acct in HARDFORK_DAO_LIST: state.set_balance(HARDFORK_DEST, state.get_balance(acct) + state.get_balance(HARDFORK_DEST)) state.set_balance(acct, 0) However, the dev community is debating the simplest way to minimize risks of issues related to light client syncing. The actual logic that allows DAO token holders to claim their ether would be implemented in HARDFORK_DEST. 2) The ether claiming logic is largely a simple withdrawable token contract, but small details are being debated regarding how to deal with secondary daos, legit splits, etc. Note that this can proceed in parallel to (1), there are no sequential dependencies. Simplicity of the ether claiming contract is understood to be a very important concern. 3) Note that the above should absolutely not be taken as an official endorsement of hardforking by either the foundation, or ethcore/slock/string, or the individual devs involved; some of the devs involved are pro-fork and some are anti-fork, the goal is to give the community a choice. thanks for all the great posts mrpumpitis. I cant believe there is still question on HF. seems like its a no brainer. Stealing shouldn't be rewarded even if done under guise of smart contract It is good that they are thinking about the hard fork. But is there any news about the soft fork yet? if I understood well, soft fork was cancelled because of vulnerability vis-a-vis DOS possible attacks.

The only thing I hate about this sort of shakedown is it also allows non ico investors to grab cheap waves too which basically is kinda slap in the face of investors if there isn't some future meteoric rise. I know it's all part of the game but doesn't mean it's not shitty either for those of us who handed our btcs to the devs.
This. and it sucks when you don't have your Waves yet. Can't get anywhere. I am losing the opportunity to sell high and buy back in at lower!!!!! me too: have not received my ico waves in my waves lite app.

thoughts similar to mine from a fellow redditor.. "Todays events are perfectly fine! Yes TheDAO got hacked. Yes people maybe lost money. BUT Ethereum itself is in no way broken, the community will learn from the mistakes made in the past and will come back stronger than before, Imagine Ethereum is the operating system and TheDao was a programm. Yes a program was buggy, but it had nothing to do with the operatingsystem/ethereum itself. We had downfalls in Bitcoin aswell, exchanges got hacked and the blockchain forked. In any case Bitcoin came back stronger than before. Ethereum will go the same path."
this DAO mechanism appeared too complex and above all was untested. It is not surprising that a flaw appeared. now its time to test the building.

http://www.coindesk.com/ping-r3cevs-gateway-china/When Chinese financial giant Ping An joined the blockchain consortium led by R3CEV last week, the group added more than just a new member – it effectively integrated with a gateway to the world's second-largest economy. With a $90b market cap, the company has 27 subsidiaries across a wide range of industries, including life insurance, banking and securities. What are you doing, pumpy?... From praising ethereum to praising R3CEV, huh? Quite natural transformation I should say. pumpy, do you personally know Vitalik ?

My wallet is currently stuck on block 1,545,550, and I'm only connected to 1 peer. On Mac OSX Yosemite 10.10.5. Can anyone walk me through what to do to reset my peer data, or point me in the right direction if it's already been discussed? Thanks! EDIT: Ah well no shit... I should have checked my wallet version before posting this I was on 0.7.3. Updated to 0.7.4, and of course that fixed the problem. Carry on; nothing to see here, folks! I dont know what is with these wallets. I think it would be time that ethereum team makes a wallet that would work ! I agree, having the same issue.

Interesting, thank you. Hi guys, As I see an even brighter future for computer malware (Linux, OSX and Win), my paranoid self is thinking about storing 90% of my ETH on a cold wallet. I wonder who shares the same feeling and got his/her ETH already on cold storage. Please share some options if you don't mind. I'm thinking of using a paper wallet ( https://ryepdx.github.io/ethaddress.org). Thanks I don't see it as a "usable option" (I don't mean that it is useless, just, too inconvenient, impractical ) I have several BTC in my wallet, I have an offline backup of the entire blockchain including the wallet file. the wallet file is encrypted with a long and complex password that i can remember the long and complex password is written in a piece of paper (just in case i ever forgot it) and stored in a safe of a bank. and, the "online" Wallet is on a separate hard drive with a complete instalation, so if I need to transfer BTC, i remove my hard drive, put the drive of the wallet and load that OS, since that OS only is used for the wallet, nothing else, i never browse the web or anything, it is absolutely impossible that someone can capture my typing when i enter my password in the wallet. you can do the same with the ethereum wallet. I friend of mine directly has a notebook specifically for the wallets, and it does not use it for anything else. another friend of mine, has the wallets in a vmware virtual machine, totally isolated from the rest, but in this case i think that a malware in the physical machine, can still record the keystrokes, so.... not sure how effective that could it be. there is nothing better than complete isolation when it comes to security.

Just checked one of my login passphrases on the login.lisk.io site for the first time since the launch. My lisks are there safe and sound. Trying to decide if I should keep them on the lisk site or try to install the non-windows wallet and download them to my desktop. I don't plan on trading them anytime soon. Wish I could consolidate them into one place for delegate voting purposes. Any suggestions?
You can keep it right there but i would suggest you take it. install a wallet and move your lisk on your computer. you never know someone with bad intention bust their server out and leave you nothing. better keep it safe, if you are not comfortable, dont put all your eggs on one basket. Not familiar with Linux. Is there a simple guide for installing the wallet under Windows 10? You don't need to move them anywhere. They aren't saved on any computer. Your LSK are saved on the decentralized network and only your passphrase grants access to them. Thanks for responding. I know the dev team is very busy. I have one more question. Do you recommend consolidating my LSK from multiple addresses/passphrases to one address/passphrase on the decentralized network if I decide to just leave them there? It seems best to consolidate for voting purposes. It also seems best to keep them in multiple addresses for security purposes. It's easier to consolidate and have them in one account, yes. But, having them in different addresses makes them more secure. The difference in voting weight will be the extra 1 LSK you need to spend to vote with both account. interesting, thank you. Also, please make sure to enable the 2nd passphrase. It's a must in my opinion, it really secures your addresses to another level.
