5383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Qtum] UTXO based POS Smart Contract Platform|On Coindesk & Bitcoinmagazine on: January 17, 2017, 09:05:58 AM
I've heard of banks and others in the financial sector exploring various means to leverage blockchain technology in financial transactions.

If this succeeds you could beat all of them to the market, and be the first to implement something capable of competing with apple's point of sale service, which would be very impressive.

I applaud your efforts and look forward to seeing progress on this.
5384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why some people prefer Bitcoin over fiat ? on: January 17, 2017, 08:49:06 AM
In countries like venezuela, bitcoin is much more stable and less prone to inflation than the native currency.

That's one reason for investing in btc.

5385  Economy / Services / Re: Need web based automation done for a game - 0.03 BTC on: October 01, 2016, 12:33:42 AM
In summary, it's a game where I am boosting by attacking and losing to a player. Requires multiple clicks, no captchas. Also requires multiple tabs, and at least one variable.

There's plenty of web based game code out there for you to build with.

No need to reinvent the wheel or start from scratch.

Checkout places like hotscripts.

Its been awhile since I've bought BTC with a debit card, is there a better method available?
5388  Economy / Trading Discussion / best way to convert altcoins to btc? on: January 19, 2016, 12:28:55 AM
I've noticed some faucets deal out litecoin, dogecoin, peercoin, primecoin, darkcoin and other alt currencies.

If ppl accept these dispenses, what's the best way to convert them into a useful crypto like btc?

Or what's the most efficient way of achieving it?  I know some exchanges have 5% exchange rates and then cashout rates.

Which method is the most efficient and best?
5389  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: How botmakers beat faucet captchas on: January 16, 2016, 09:19:58 PM
Captcha solver are not the real problems. The problems are the proxy addresses that hampers the advertisement revenue.

Is it really hard to block known proxies, VPN's and TOR exit nodes?

Metrics analysis and WHOIS of traffic could give ppl some indication what percentage of their traffic is legit.

What might be tough to identify is bot zombie traffic.  A better captcha could be the best method of blocking those since they would look like normal traffic for the most part.

It could help to know OCR's probably aren't in play.
5390  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: How botmakers beat faucet captchas on: January 16, 2016, 05:09:21 AM
They pay about 0.002 btc per every thousand captchas.

Comes out to around 0.000002 per captcha expense, still less than 0.00001 or whatever their gain is.

Some faucets and micro earnings sites pay 0.00002 which is about 10x a 0.000002 expense.

They could do big volume like wal mart which helps.

5392  Economy / Speculation / The reason for BTC drop on: January 15, 2016, 10:20:23 PM

US stock market lost 390 points today & has been on the decline for a few days now.

This comes hot on the heels of china's stock market crashing in a big way.

In times of economic distress people panic and sell.

This leads to price drops in the stock market and in crypto.

BTC price drop isn't a sign bitcoin is dying.  Its an indication of the poor state of the economy.
5393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is DEAD... on: January 15, 2016, 10:10:46 PM
Bitcoin is dropping.

Because the US stock market is crashing.

Mass devaluation across the board.

Look at stock market numbers.   Smiley

Its not BTC.  Its economic fear.

When I was last active on this forum years back, I noticed the website protypers.com was using human workers to beat captchas.

Now that I'm returned to see what's new.  I've realized protypers.com is using their captcha defeating service to drain funds from bitcoin faucets and micro earning sites.

To those who run faucets, if you've ever wondered why you have a hard time earning income check out protypers.com and update your knowledge base on how they beat the captchas on your bitcoin faucets to profit at your expense -- and at the expense of the bitcoin community as a whole.
5396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank of America is trying to patent the technology behind bitcoin on: December 30, 2015, 05:58:33 PM
If they are awarded a patent for crypto-currency technology.

I wonder if it'll open the door to them being sued for breach of bitcoin copyright & IP.
5397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bank of America is trying to patent the technology behind bitcoin on: December 30, 2015, 01:24:45 PM
Quote
Bankers may not think bitcoin will ever go fully mainstream, but they clearly believe there is value in the technology that powers such cryptocurrencies, known as blockchain.

On Dec. 17, the US Patent office published 10 blockchain-related patents filed by Bank of America in July 2014. The patents haven’t been granted yet, but the filings demonstrate the bank’s interest in using blockchain technology to revamp its backend operations, which, like other financial institutions, are largely paper-based.
The wide-ranging patents cover everything from a “cryptocurrency transaction payment system” which would let users make transactions using cryptocurrency, to risk detection, storing cryptocurrencies offline, and using the blockchain to measure fraudulent activity. (The blockchain is essentially a publicly available ledger that’s distributed to everyone within a network.)

Bank of America had no comment.

Financial institutions are quickly ramping up their research efforts around blockchain technology. Last week, IBM, JPMorgan, the London Stock Exchange, and Wells Fargo announced the Open Ledger Project, a new consortium that will focus on allowing businesses to easily build their own blockchain technology. Bank of America is a part of a consortium led by blockchain startup R3 that’s developing blockchain technology to be used in financial markets. The Aite Group estimates that banks have invested $75 million this year on blockchain tech, a figure the research firm forecasts will grow to $400 million in 2019.

Other financial institutions have been building up their blockchain-related intellectual property. Goldman Sachs filed a patent for its own cryptocurrency, SETLCoin, that would allow traders to execute and clear trades in real time.

It’s hard to speculate what Bank of America will do with these patents, if anything. But Coindesk notes these patents could be hinting at BofA working on a complete network based on blockchain.

They don't need to use bitcoin.

Banks already do everything they need.

They got caught.  Got a slap on the wrist.  They're still doing it in 2015.
