5242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex DDOS attack on: March 14, 2016, 02:34:08 PM
Seems that POLO is undergoing a DDOS attack. There has been huge volume of bitcoin and ether trading there.

Is a DDOS attack likely to increase its vulnerability to be hacked or compromised?
Nope, it can't increase vulnerability to be hacked because DDoS is a distributed sending of various shit garbled messages but they can't get access to the system to change the software it runs, if they bruteforce it or they gain access to, it may increase the probability to get hacked.

Ether summarised:

1. Traded on exchange operating from a shed.
2. IPO coin (all IPO coins are scams, no exception)
3. Pre-mine
4. Has no limit, which means 1 gazillion Ether can be created, which means it is as usefull as Zimbabwe dollar (actually Zimbabwe dollar has more use)
5. Has no use; nowhere accepted.
6. No decent wallet.
7. No development; just theories.
8. Extremely user-unfriendly.
9. Only used on exchanges.
10. Massive bubble, 1000%+ increase in just a month's time, for no reason whatsoever.
11. Exchange it is mainly traded on has been hacked times before. Very unsafe and unreliable exchange with little history.
12. Ether was promoted via a mass-spam action, which reflects on its community.
13. The coin has no liquidity. If you sold 100 BTC worth of ether, you'd crash the price by around 30%.
14. To continue on the previous point: it only requires 1 tiny whale (in comparison with legitimate cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Litecoin) to crash Ether.

Everything mentioned above are FACTS. Undeniable FACTS. If you deny these facts, it means you are either:

1. Ether troll.
2. Ether shill.
3. Ether scammer.
4. Delusional fool who will get burned by persons belonging to one or more of the previously mentioned 3 categories.

Don't say nobody warned you.

Feel free to copy and paste this message, purely based on facts and absolutely not FUD, whenever and wherever you like Smiley.
Yes, agreed, ETH is useless and they advertise that "decentralized platform for building unstoppable applications".
I get it, if it's application platform, is it made to build "currency applications" ?

I don't get its points, what does it mean to normal users, Cryptocurrency geeks, developers, can't they "already" use Bitcoin?
Bitcoin's major platforms and exchanges already have APIs and if they want to keep 'free' (I mean free as in freedom) can't they use bitcoind's RPC? Can someone clarify it for me?

E.g. built your own elephant like coin . ahh  I 'll  go and create a new PonzCoin :-)   sell it for hell

5244  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-03-12] Xapo President Ted Rogers Blasts Blockstream And Mentions Ethereum on: March 13, 2016, 03:15:17 PM
What will these statements mean for Xapo and Bitcoin Core?

Interesting things are happening in the Bitcoin world, as Xapo has officially renounced their partnership with Blockstream. Even though both companies have seen eye-to-eye in the past, times have certainly changed, and the way forward for Blockstream does not stroke with how Xapo sees the future of Bitcoin. Could this be the first of many different partnership breakups between Blockstream and major companies in the Bitcoin industry.

ETH & Xapo.... Both based in Switzerland...makes sense.
5245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2MB Pros and Cons on: March 13, 2016, 03:04:31 PM
Pro: Not bumping limit to 2MB could cause a fork.

it's no secret poeple want 2MB, we've seen open letters signed by many many top bitcoin businesses stating they want bigger blocks, we've also see the same thing coming from the a huge % of hashrate, it's not unreasonable to assume, inaction on this issue will cause a fork.
I really doubt it. People who are really working for the best of Bitcoin would never risk this.
but.... they are risking it, right now.

gavin left core and created XT and now helping Classic and Unlimited, in an attempt at forking bitcoin.
did you miss the part when like 20 of the top bitcoin businesses sign a document that explained why they wanted bigger blocks?
the bitcoin market has drop several times because this kind of fork was seen as a credible threat.

sure this it's unlikely bitcoin will fork over this in the near future, but should core refuse to comply with >80% of hashing power, that's not only risking it, thats asking for it.

What is happening is certain people want to take over development. The TX capacity of Bitcoin is what they saw as a way to socially engineer the public into believing there is a problem the core developers are not addressing.
Exactly. People are obsessed with the 2 MB block size limit.

Yes poeple are "obsessed", many are willing to fork over this issue.

Hmm, could also be the fork had already happened when blockstream came into the game and we already are on BSC = Blockstreamcoins ....

So its the try to get old BTC back

you know, it's sad how true this rings.

the project has been lead with a certain vision of how it would scale, that vision had not changed up until they took over the project.

I wish that finally the gentlemen get together and formulate a compromise, shake hands and work on true BTC together. It does not seam fully impossible to me!

5247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microsoft Store to not Accept Bitcoin Anymore on: March 13, 2016, 10:24:39 AM
I can't believe that Microsoft stop supporting Bitcoin and started to think of ways to use the Blockchain for their own advantage. I deeply hope that they will consider taking in Bitcoin as payment again.

That is how business goes.
Nobody will ever do you a favour just like that, especially of you could be a potential threat.
But don't worry too much.Microsoft accepting Bitcoin or not isn't that much of important.
Let them deal and play with their closed permission stuff.
Why exactly bitcoin could be a threat to Microsoft?
It is just crypto currency while Microsoft is IT company. I don't see how Bitcoin can influence Microsoft in any way, not to mention be a threat to them.

MSFT rather owns already a bunch of ETH than BTC. So it is just logic they push what?

5251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eth pump is just part of the ongoing coordinated attack on bitcoin.... on: March 13, 2016, 07:43:17 AM
Just another way to try and discredit bitcoin and create fud. Better sell before we break out of this triangle and the eth insider traders take all your bitcoins....although if you're holding eth at this point thinking it will replace bitcoin, you deserve to lose them anyway.

i totally agree with this.

especially after putting some incidents together you can come to the same conclusion. the biggest incident that i am talking about was Mike Hearn's FUD about bitcoin which happened at the same time as ETH was about to be pumped.
add to that all the spam advertising on social medias like reddit,... plus the spread of FUD about bitcoin and spam attack on bitcoin then you have yourself a coordinated attack on bitcoin.

Yep. R3 is about to figure out ANY tech to save big banks profits. So ETH might be a cheap solution, pumped a bit that gets awareness and enough devs on the boat, creating some open source product that they will just fork / copy in case it works....

Same I predict for other corps that want risky smart contract stuff. Nobody of those will trust a real open system as ETH can be.
5252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Ethereum surpass Bitcoin in market cap in the next 3 years? on: March 13, 2016, 07:34:38 AM
IF. Momentum still holds, you need only a factor of 6 pumping this up.

You should rather ask how the landing will look like and if anybody does proper risk management!
5253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Pump & Dump Scam on: March 13, 2016, 07:30:47 AM
People will get burned so fucking hard from this. Now would be a good time to take profits from this altcoin pump! The chart is screaming for you to take profits guys!

Yes. Looking at the liquidity this gonna be a monster rollover. Putting very bad news to the crypto markets in total.  Shame.

Then I still have no clue how all the problems can be solved with the current design.

But if, then Rootstock could be final winner with the BTC side chain and smart contracts on top.

Anyway, looks doomy now.
5254  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-02-11]Ethereum Price Rise being led by Bitcoin Flight on: March 13, 2016, 07:23:38 AM
I tell you guys what will happen.
Ethereum will see a dump, no doubt about that. What we don't know is how much it will get dumped.
And what will happen after that is that one part will cash out and another other part will move into Bitcoin.
The dumb will get left behind if they should miss to get out in time.

My biggest fear to all the small investors is the rollover. Momentum WILL change and the market is so thin. Run for shelter!
5255  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-02-11]Ethereum Price Rise being led by Bitcoin Flight on: March 13, 2016, 07:18:16 AM
That's interesting how Ethereum just rose. However, I don't think that it is blocksize debate that is the main cause. This is just some big companies realising that Ethereum could be an interesting tool for them.

... But just those big gonna fork and copy it...

Does not matter, trend is friend.
5256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eth pump is just part of the ongoing coordinated attack on bitcoin.... on: March 13, 2016, 06:31:32 AM
I dont think so, it's just a bunch of shills want to make quick buck.

But ETH may have some innovation in it, i think it is here to stay, but the price may go lower who knows.

It has some innovation but what real world problems does it solve?

decentralized computing, what can be used for lets see? Everything.

If that contract system stays up, it can literally create a skynet type AI that will solve all our problems... (sarcasm)

But of course I`m more worried that ETH being so complex it will have tons of vulnerabilities and attack vectors, that will be exploited and it could take a huge damage from that.

... Does not matter. Momentum and marketing just vipes away all worries.
They think all can be fixed with money, also get around the CAP theorem...
But you will be able to send ETH for free , what should be able with BTC still if all would listen to Satoshi...

BTW. Rootstock says its fully compatible with ETH and you can have all features on a BTC sidechain ....

So BTC devs just need to show some agile move and sb has to do marketing.
5257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2MB Pros and Cons on: March 11, 2016, 10:27:27 AM
If increase block size to 2MB is difficult because it requires hard fork and it won't be final solution, why don't increase block size to bigger size so we don't need another hard fork because i'm sure hard fork will be harder because bitcoin'll be more popular and it means more miners, pool, company and so on.

More clever (and there are those suggestions) is a trailing max size adjustment to some moving hist average. I'd prefer that.
5258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2MB Pros and Cons on: March 11, 2016, 05:55:57 AM
Might a higher b size lead to a better miner distribution ? (Firewall issue,...)
5259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTS Price Going Through The Roof on: March 10, 2016, 11:09:27 PM

Alot of whales were pumping ETH as a hedge against Bitcoin but I think in reality Bitshares is much more a threat to BTC than Ethereum is as they share more in common.

Looks like lot of ETH are sold for BtS on polo...
5260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2MB Pros and Cons on: March 10, 2016, 10:59:51 PM
Pro.   Shows that devs DO sth for the commons
Pro.   Is a step closer to Satoshis initial no limit design

Cons. Has the risk any change has.
