1021  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 1x-3x Avalon Batch #2 Preorders on: May 17, 2013, 04:42:58 PM
How many more batch 2s do you have for sale right now?

I bid 130 BTC.

I have 2 at least, maybe more if I get good prices.
I will add your bid to the list. 130 is a bit low for me now though.

I understand. If you get a tracking number and it looks like it is being shipped to you within the next week, I could bump up my bid to 140 or 150. The main reason I bid a little lower is because you are far from me and I'm worried about the shipping time.
1022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: May 17, 2013, 02:10:36 AM
I "ordered" a Mars, but I didn't see any option to pay. How does that work? They e-mailed me a copy of my order but haven't asked for any money. Is this typical?

You haven't ordered anything, you are just at the back of a pre-order queue.

Yes, I know, I "pre-ordered" it. Has anyone actually paid yet or are they not taking money until the product is ready? If so, what stops everyone from "pre-ordering" one just to hold their place in line?

Sorry, you haven't pre-ordered either you just have a place at the back.

There's been no monies paid.

All your answers are either in this thread or on the site you so eagerly just clicked through. You should take the time to acknowledge what you are doing. I just saved your ass from getting scammed by some guy on eBay no more than an hour ago and immediately your jumping from one pan to the next.

What's worse was the eBay thing was a blatant scam from the off, you did no due diligence and had already bid on it, only to have your ass saved by the fact someone outbid you. You had no idea how you were going to pay as you hadn't bothered to check whether your choice of payment was sufficient for such a purchase and you were about to pay a ludicrous amount for it anyway as a second-chance offer as the guy was blatantly trying to rip you off as well as the person that won it.

On top of which I never even received a thank-you for pointing out something you should have researched anyway and saving you from loosing in excess of $25k. Now you're asking questions without any research again, and jumping into pre-orders without full understanding what you are actually agreeing to.

Wow, you're a jerk. What crawled up your ass today? Why would I thank you? All you did was taunt me in the other thread without providing any useful information.

I read most of this thread on kncminer.com and I was here when the thread started. It's been mostly 60+ pages of crap since then. After reading for an hour, I figured it would be simpler to ask. I haven't taken any risk with KNCminer as, like you acknowledged, haven't sent them any money!

I noticed you'd rather argue about semantics rather than provide any USEFUL information. KNCMiner calls it "pre-ordering" so that's the term I'm using.
You see that button on their site. It says "pre-order". Yes, I mean that one. Maybe you've never been to their site and are just here to troll.

btw, I would never spend over 25k on an Avalon batch 2 miner. I've never even bid anywhere close to that amount. They aren't worth that much and won't return that kind of money. The 2nd chance offer was for $12,300 if you must know. Ebay doesn't require you to pay for items that are a scam. You didn't save me from anything. They also don't specifiy what the transaction limits are. They are purposely vague about that and imply that if you have a verified account you won't be subject to the same limit. Even worse, is they don't leave with an alternative if it is over that limit.

1024  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Legit Avalon Batch #2 Order? on: May 17, 2013, 01:49:56 AM
Yo dude, I was watching that auction for shits and giggles. Finished somewhere up $27k. He apparently has 4 ordered right, but decided to sell two? I've seen that same listing worded on multiple occasions these last couple of months. I was finding it odd he either had problems selling or had more to sell. Also the previous listings are not showing on his account.

And you are right, you cannot pay above US $10k Paypal. So he's offered you a second chance? What if he's already had a wire transfer or bitcoins from the original winner? So he's multiplying his scam along the list of interested parties. As if the winner hasn't been ale to pay by PayPal, which you know he can't as far as eBay is concerned he's a non payer and you can make second chance offers.

Be verrrrrry careful!

For that kind of money, pick up and pay in person.

I got the second chance offer because he had multiple miners he was selling. The winner got the first, and apparently I got the second. Seems suspicious to me as I don't think I was even in second place.
The second chance offer came immediately when the auction ended so it definitely wasn't due to non-payment of anyone.

I would pick it up in person, but it is located in Israel, so well, that's not gonna happen.

I haven't heard from him regarding alternate payment methods, so I'm going to assume it's a scam for now.

Hmm, seems like paypal doesn't allow transactions more than $10k. How do people buy expensive items on ebay??
1029  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Legit Avalon Batch #2 Order? on: May 16, 2013, 09:38:59 PM
Since that you have the transactions (last image, the qr code), you can try to contact wallet bit yourself to check if the transaction matches with the destination address of the first image.

If they do, and you can prove that your seller actually lives there, that's a start.

The best thing you can do is asking the seller to show you the account on Avalon store from his PC, you should use vnc/rdp to view his desktop in real time (double check his host file/ping to the Avalon store server).

Why don't you just wait for batch 2 to ship or use John K as escrow?

All good ideas. Thanks.

I doubt wallet bit would give out that kind of personal information about it's customers.

The VNC idea is really good although I don't have much time to set that up with him (there is a time limit on the second chance).

It's actually an ebay auction that I have a "second chance" on for a pretty reasonable price. If I pay with paypal and use my credit card, I should be protected by ebays buy protection, paypals protection, and my own credit card. If that doesn't work out, I would ask him to use bitcoins and John K as escrow.
1030  Bitcoin / Hardware / Legit Avalon Batch #2 Order? on: May 16, 2013, 09:20:08 PM
Sorry to bother everyone again but it seems like there are so many fraudulent Avalon miner sales out there.

For those of you who have ordered an Avalon miner, does this order receipt look legit? (3 images):

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/69/miner2.jpg/

One thing that seems odd is the Order Status page has a '$' instead of a bitcoin symbol. I'm not sure if that is normal or not.

Thanks so much.
1031  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: DO NOT BUY GPUs to mine! You will not get your money back! on: May 16, 2013, 09:05:42 PM
ROI on GPU is about 2-8 months for the last 3 years and it'll stay that way, it's not only the ghashes that counts in this game, but also a number of peers as a relevant factor... asics will never be as cheap as gpu and therefore percentage wise number of peers criteria will always be on gpu side... I agree that the buzz about subcoins is just buzz, it's best to mine bitcoin, not subcoins...

what? It's all about the ghashes. What do you mean by "peers"? That has nothing to do with mining profitability. ASICs are already cheaper than GPUs when you look at from ghash/$. And it doesn't matter about the price anyways. Enough ASICs have already been sold to make GPU mining dead forever. Even if BFL never ships, the ASICs from ASICMiner and Avalon have already killed GPU mining. It's too late to upgrade to ASICs if you haven't already. Just sit back and watch the difficulty rise. You have maybe 2 months left of profitable GPU mining tops. Maybe only 1.
1032  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty Speculation on: May 16, 2013, 05:47:18 PM
I'd recommend just not counting on anything from BFL when trying to develop difficulty predictions.

I think rationally and logically it would be more accurate to predict that BFL will not ship anything more than 1% of their preorders by August.

Why do I say this? They've been saying they were just about ready to ship back in October and they have consistently lied, or more favorably to them, have shown to be incompetent. Hence, it is more likely this will continue than it is they will ship.

They have no finalized prototype. It's highly unlikely they'll be able to produce in bulk IMHO.

I agree with this now, but it didn't seem that way when this thread was posted.

Right now you have to worry about ASICMiner and Avalon.

Difficulty will soar because of them and by the time BFL gets a product out the door, if they ever do, they won't be worth running.
1033  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Miners on: May 16, 2013, 03:49:21 PM
Hi all,

Which one of the ASIC miners that are in the process of being developed are likely to be released first? Or within the next few Weeks / Month. Terrahash? KNCminer? I would just like to prepare my Pre-order.

Thank you.

You are too late to pre-order.

No miner you buy right now will be profitable.

Difficulty will be too high by the time you get your pre-order.

Your best bet would to buy discrete Avalon chips and have someone assemble them into a miner for you. You are most likely to break even that way.

Even better idea is to just buy ASICMiner shares on bitfunder (they pay a dividend).
1034  Economy / Speculation / Re: The death of Mt Gox will End Bitcoin on: May 16, 2013, 04:52:21 AM
ahh well then, guess its time for him to make a new llc in us and get banking stuff sorted this time....
still no biggy...

Except it is a HUGE deal to become a money transmitter.

You need to apply for separate licenses for ALL states that you do business in (all 50 states).

You need to hold insurance for all the money you transmit.

You need to comply with KYC regulations for every person you deal with.

And it costs about $25 million.

It is very difficult to become a money transmitter. MtGox might not be able to afford it.
1035  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Remember last October when BFL said they would ship by the end of the month? on: May 16, 2013, 04:44:39 AM
The only place to assemble electronics on a large scale and make a profit is China. The fact that BFL is trying to do it in the US is a major alarm bell. There is absolutely no way they will have the capability to meet their current orders. The cost is far too great. They will have to hire facilities and people in China to get the work done. That will take several months to organize.

Yes. I actually assumed they were assembling in China until relatively recently when I was reading their announcements and realized they were trying to do it in the US. There is no way they will hit production of 400 units/day assembling in the US. At least not for a reasonable price.

1037  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS: Avalon Batch #2 and #3. For bank wire, gold or silver..42K (escrow aval) on: May 16, 2013, 04:20:29 AM
I will give you $20k for the pair.
1038  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] BFL 5/GHz "Jalapeno" order no. 116XX on: May 16, 2013, 04:15:35 AM
His jalapeno will NEVER be profitable.

A reasonable estimate as to when it will ship is September.

A reasonable estimate of the difficulty that time is 50 million.

A reasonable amount to pay for this is about 1-2 bitcoins. Not 75.
1039  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] BFL Singles (FPGA) for 9.5 BTC each on: May 16, 2013, 04:04:04 AM
I'm curious as to why anyone would buy any of these.

I have one and it pulls in not even 0.04 coins a day and it's dropping all the time. You'll never make back the could you spend on it.
1040  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Remember last October when BFL said they would ship by the end of the month? on: May 16, 2013, 03:35:39 AM
I've already given up,not refunding though..............They will never catch up this year.

Looking into spending my BTC & cash on the "home-made Avalon ASIC" devices  Cheesy  Or someone elses devices, have to wait & see who comes up with what.

& I agree they lied about most everything since the beginning  Angry
Believe it or not, you giving up saddens me a bit.

I used to remember how you were right up there with Lab Rat in supporting BFL. I recall even Lab Rat had some doubts a few months ago. I see they made him a moderator on BFL forums.

Edit: ASIC J is also starting to fall by the way side. When even hardcore supporters start to fall away....it's more troubling than even the hardest troll turning into a total shill.

Yeah, that was then...this is now  Roll Eyes  I'm just VERY tired of the excuses.I gave them the benefit of the doubt,my bad  Sad

If my order was any later than say August,I'd would refund ASAP.But being first inline,I MAY have a chance to get my one unit.I did pay in BTC too,so it would a total wash of my 100 BTC I got in this  Sad

Looks like I'm gonna keep my FPGA too, since the tradein expires on June 1st & I won't have the diff in BTC or cash to do it.Was hoping to earn the BTC by mining with my 30GH & do the tradein, but alas,it wasn't meant to be   Cry

I really doubt BFL will finish shipping all preorders this year, hell maybe not even by next summer......so my "new order" wouldn't get to me till then,WAY TOO LATE Roll Eyes

I won't bash em though.............yet  Wink I'm just a "disatisfied whiner" to them  Roll Eyes

My prediction is that they will go out of business before they can fill even half of the pre-orders they have now.
