It's amazing that not too long ago I was telling my friends on social media that bitcoin is making an all time high of $2000, and now we need a major correction to return to that level. If I'm starting to invest in bitcoin now, I would also split my money and invest a small portion now, and keep the rest hoping there will be a correction later. The nice thing about bitcoin is that, unlike stocks, we don't need to buy a whole coin.

$500,000/BTC is very close to the point where the market cap would equal the market cap of gold. At least in today's dollars. I really don't see any scenario where we could go higher in real terms. Of course, we could (probably will) have runaway inflation of the USD. Such could result in a dollar price above this, But I personally don't see a scenario where the totality of bitcoin becomes valued as higher than the totality of gold.

I think we are in a bubble. That nearly all of the participants of this discussion are denying it is a clear sign that it is already in a very advanced stage (Delusion or even New Paradigm). And don't forget we are in a bull market since $135 in late 2014!

Yes, part of the growth is "justified" because of some (limited) real-world adoption and also the Segwit introduction that opens the door to a better scaling. But if it really will allow mass adoption is still speculation. Nobody knows if Lightning will work as expected (My opinion is that it will work, but it won't be the main payment method outside of micropayments).

That does not mean that the bubble cannot go on a bit more. Perhaps we'll see $5000 crossed, or even $6000. But one has to be careful. I expect a major correction or crash before the November fork.

Not the extra coins, each altcoin has its own characteristics and effects, they only exist together in the market and develop on the basis of bitcoin. In essence, they are independent currencies.

Bitcoin is the new gold. I think if we just compare the prices of gold and bitcoins then it is quite clear that bitcoin has crossed gold and still going up. We all know this better that bitcoin have jumped so many currencies and mining that make money in a short time. Bitcoin can be called as new gold for new era.

BCH is mined mostly by Bitmain, and they have to continue supporting it both via mining and buying it on exchanges to prevent it from failing. It's a mystery whether this whole venture was profitable for Bitmain, or it was all done with a goal of leveraging their position in the scaling debate with Bitcoin community and devs. If Bitmain has stopped mining it, it would quickly crash, as market would see it as lack of confidence. Similar reason why people mine Bitcoin no matter the profit of other chains - it protects their investment both in terms of coins and mining equipment.

Do not waste time. Many mistakes are wasted. Have not we learned yet? This august Bitcoin Fork took place and we saw the decline of its price. And in November Hard Fork will again take place where it will develop again and will be the result of increasing prices.
