6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Luck and skill, which is more important for gambling success? on: November 16, 2023, 11:09:07 PM
So I am tempted to inquire if skill is all that is needed to be successful in gambling or luck. Whichever be the option, which of them is the most important factor for gambling success?

Both is needed in order to maximize the chance of winning.  Luck is  important because if it is with us, we will be winning for sure.  While skill is also needed to give us more chance of success and even triggering our lucky streak.  Skill is really important in sports betting because having a great prediction skill from the gathered information will greatly enhance our chance of winning.

But despite having both of these, I believe that it is being a responsible gambler will be the one that will lead us to success in our gambling career.  There is no success in gambling addiction even if we are winning consecutively.  Gambling addiction can ruin ones life even though one is raking huge amount of money from winning due to luck and skill.  Outside gambling, a person have life to go with.  His relation to his family and society should not be ignored.  I believe a successful gambler has the balance of everything...  Gambling and the life outside of it.
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beginner needs your advices in gambling. on: November 16, 2023, 10:50:17 PM
Curiosity will always be the biggest driver for every gambler, especially for those beginners who have just come to gambling, usually curiosity will dominate him more and also on the other hand temptation will continue to make you even more crazy in putting that curiosity. This is the starting point that will determine whether they will end up with addiction or not, but usually gamblers who come because they see the victory of others will find it difficult to hold back every curiosity because yes, what is in their mind is winning not gambling for entertainment.

I think that greed is the bigger driver than curiosity.  Curiosity is even triggered by greed in this matter.  Unless the gambler is not in for profit, then it is an exemption but to be honest, almost all gamblers are aiming for a win.  Like you stated, if victory of others  lead a person to his curiosity, then more likely that person aims to win an amount which can be said to be trigger by greed.  So this simply means cutting off greed can make a gambler less likely to get hooked in gambling.

One of the things that they must have and emphasize on themselves and especially on their mindset is to apply self-control very firmly, they do not know what kind of temptations exist in gambling sessions, so it is the right action in general to be able to save them from things that are not wanted, especially losing large amounts, and also yes so that you avoid the name of a very bad addiction. There is no other way to overcome the disastrous effects of gambling, only self-control  and strict limits, I hope you and they can implement it well.

I agree and one that can ensure that the gambler can apply a self-control is nullifying greed.  Greed makes one to think irrationally, it also makes a person to chase winnings which is harmful in the end since it can make a gambler spend more than he can afford to lose to meet his goal.

In addition time moderation is always important and make sure that a person must not forget his other responsibilities and obligation.  In short, don't let gambling be the center of his life.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Start with the little you have, you don't need millions of dollars to own BTC. on: November 16, 2023, 10:24:23 PM
You have said my physical campaign awareness on bitcoin to people. A lady met me one day and Sid someone told her that for her to own a bitcoin she has to purchase it with the minimum of $4,000 USD and immediately I have to reconciled that mentality from her and told that she can invest with any form from $5 US dollar and that should be depends on the current dollar exchange rate and after the orientation she was very happy and took my number so she can call me to start the investment.

It is possible that the person who told the lady is an agent of a company, possibly a Ponzi scheme one since these kind of company often have a fix entry level.  It is a good thing that you are able to intercept this lady from being scammed by a Ponzi company agent.

Yes many people have that misconception that it is only big amount can be used to invest in bitcoin but that is not true. In my country of you have #4000 which is equivalent to $5. Though I don't blame them because they are ignorant of the ecosystem.

It is because many people who are interested in investing Bitcoin do not do their own research and are often swayed by companies that exploited Bitcoin.  Like during the time before Bitcoin get popular in my country, there are already some international fraud company that are exploiting the Bitcoin nature and are using Bitcoin as a front to scam people and their entry fee is really high which makes people thinks that investing in Bitcoin really needs a huge amount of money.  It was way back as early as 2015 before our government acknowledge Bitcoin as mode of payment in 2017.

Although the idea of the need of huge capital to invest in Bitcoin has already been debunked for countless times, there are still people who thinks that huge fund is needed to acquire Bitcoin since they are just looking at the price of it as a whole and not how Bitcoin has this divisibility.

Everyone who starts an account to Bitcointalk feels the urge to post like crazy in order to stay relevant.

I am not like this when I started my account here in the forum.  I just like browsing and reading.  I am actually hesitant to reply since I am afraid that my little knowledge is not enough to give a senseful interaction to the thread's topic.  So I carefully read every reply and post if I have enough knowledge on the topic.

But here's the real deal: Quality over Quantity wins every time!

Actually on my first few weeks, I never thought of this thing since I am more on reading than replying.  There are even time when I wanted to reply but found my idea has already been stated on the thread so I just refrain from repeating it.

To those who wanted to earn merit and to rank up, it is obvious that they should prefer to make a quality posts than quantity. But I do not think that this kind of idea apply to the account who are not after a signature campaign but rather just want to have an interaction and love sharing his idea in the forum.

I do not know why so many people are hostile on newbies that are sharing his thoughts.  As long as the post make sense and help other newbies out there, I think we should not discriminate them.  They maybe a newbie account but it is possible that they know more than what we know.

OP, here's another important tip: Ensure you respect the community rules!

10  Economy / Economics / Re: Are You Sticking to Your Plan or Has Life Made You Pause or Modify It? on: November 15, 2023, 10:38:46 PM
I have learned consistency is the key. So if I am not sticking with my plan and I am inconsistent, how much damage will it be to me if I am like that?
That's why I am always with my plan and I'll wait if it succeeds before taking any actions and will go to plan B. But if nothing yet is happening, I'll be consistent to what I've planned.
And that is like holding until I can without any panic selling.

Holding Bitcoin is the best approach if an investor wants the minimum risk.  And with plans, consistency is ok but we should always have an alternative option if the plan isn't working as expected.  I agree that we must have a secondary plan and an alternative of it just in case the primary and secondary will not work in the given situation.

If there is nothing wrong with the plan, it is best to be consistent but once flaw is observed, I think it is much better to adjust to be able to fix that flaws seen on the plan.  This is what we called adaption, if we are able to adapt and do necessary things that the scenario needed, we will find our selves successful in every investment venture we made.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading vs HODL - Personal Experience for Newbies on: November 15, 2023, 10:19:22 PM
Investing and trading is somewhat risky for every new investor or trader. Initially, an investor or trader does not have a complete understanding of these issues, due to which newbies make more mistakes in investing and trading. In the first instance new members need to get training and practical idea about investment first. Beginners need to use small amount of money first to get real idea. When they can get a fairly realistic idea of trading and investing with a small amount of money, they can start their main investment or trading. But in the beginning if one goes for direct investment or trading then they will not be able to do any good from their trading. So every trader and investor should get enough ideas and practical experience in the beginning.
IMHO, when someone invests he already takes it as something risky even before doing it. And someone who doesn't have knowledge upon doing so is actually a risk taker. But do they know that they can minimize the risk that before doing an investment, researching is going to give them an upperhand.

Not all, many investors are naive, thinking that when they invest they will definitely get a profit from their investment , then after they will learn the truth the hardway.  This is also one of the reasons why there are weak hands among the investors.  They are not prepared for the bad scenario and panic when they experience one which resulted of selling their Bitcoin holding just to "minimize their losses".  But little that they know that Bitcoin has the ability to recover and even surpassed its ATH, it is that it does not happen overnight.

Quote
Just to make sure that your hard earned money will be used properly and wisely, those that invests without prior knowledge are truly taking the top risk.

Yeah and they are the first one to buy during the peak and the first one to sell when the market become unfavorable.

Quote
And relating that to Bitcoin and trading, many of them doesn't mind going to the point of trading as soon as possible because of misbelief that they can make easy money there which is truly wrong and doesn't make sense.

Well, they can make money but not that easily.  Many of these newbies are enticed with huge profit and get hyped into investing  thinking that they will get profit if they just do trade.  I believe the misunderstanding are done by people who introduced Bitcoin but failed to remind the people about the risk and failed to inform them about how the Bitcoin market work.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid trading crypto in real person. You can see this now on Binance. on: November 15, 2023, 10:00:36 PM
This has just began on Binance and this is what will be happening on other exchanges.

We can see recently how robbers attacked bitcoin and other crypto users and this is becoming common. These are two recent ones:

Swedish Bitcoiners targeted by armed criminals
Binance Client Executives Kidnapped, Forced to Empty Crypto Wallet

You can now trade bitcoin and other crypto with other local traders on Binance and you will meet at a particular place that both of you talked about.

This is just not different from KYC if you trade with bad person. Avoid such physical trading.

Face to face trading is really risky no matter what kind of currency or trade we are dealing.  There are bad people who exploit this kind of system and do harm to the people who wanted to trade their items or currency  face to face.

This is not only limited to Bitcoin  but also to those other transaction that involves a huge sum of money.  there are even news of people missing after they meet up with the buyer of their cars or other expensive stuff.

I always believe that it is safer if we can avoid meeting up with the other party and just use reputable escrow or third party mediator for the transaction.  What is anonymity if our personal security is at risk. We should always prioritize our own safety than anything else.

I think these are signs for us to keep avoiding centralizing exchanges because of trust issues. It cannot be possible for me to have money and still have no rest of mind because of where I saved or kept my money. I will be using exchanges for just buying crypto and selling them to fiat, but keeping my bitcoin will always be done in my Electrum wallet.

Same here, I would rather choose the P2P method of Binance than meeting up with stranger to make a P2P transaction.  But of course, our cryptocurrency that we intend to hold should not be stashed on exchanges, because they are not made for stashing our coins.  Besides it is always better to have our cryptocurrency stashed to an address that we have full control.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some rich person not interest about bitcoin for following reason on: November 15, 2023, 09:43:11 PM
I hope it is not too late when he will realized what the value of bitcoin could be in some years to come.

I believe @OP friend is already at a financial freedom status.  So @OP's friend think that he is not missing out on the opportunity if he will not invest in Bitcoin because he is already well-off and probably @OP's friend has business that is giving him way more profit than investing in Bitcoin.

My friend is also not into Bitcoin but he is getting richer each day because of his successful business and it is being franchised in different part of the country.

@OP's friend's argument makes sense, if only a few individual holds most of Bitcoin then, the market can crash instantly if these people decided to dump their holdings.

The context of the OP's thread isn't correct in the sense that, a person who learned something can't be said to not have interest in it.

It is possible that @OP's friend got interested on Bitcoin in some point but then realized the distribution of coins and thinks that there are few individual that has the capacity to crash the market and got disappointed knowing it.

Besides being interested does not mean the person will indulge himself on investing or using it.  Probably it is the curiosity that pique his interest and found out get disappointed on what he found out upon researching about Bitcoin.
His friend's decision should be respected at all cost.

I highly agree, we must respect others decision and point of view about Bitcoin investment and the Bitcoin market system.  Besides it is not our money that these people will use if they decided to invest but theirs.  So we actually should have no say on whatever they wanted to do with their money.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your parent disinherit you eventhough you have not proven to be chronic gambler on: November 15, 2023, 09:23:39 PM
The law should have nothing to do with the will and inheritance of someone. It should be the decision of the father or the parents to decide whether they would want their child to have whatever they have after they are no more or not if they think he is living a dishonorable and disgraceful life, they decide to take and no court or law should force them to not do it if their child is dishonorable or whatever, it's their child, so just let them decide what to do with the inheritance.

That should be the case but the law wanted to protect innocent people of their right.  As long as the heir does not bring shame to the family, or trouble that degrade their family's reputation, the heir can contest if the parents decided to remove his inheritance.  That is at least what is the law in my country.  If the action of disinheriting is not legally done, then as I stated the supposed to be heir that is inherited can file an appeal to the court.

I think that is better that way to avoid exploit and abuse of disinheriting.

The same should go for the child, there should be no case against the parents in case they disinherit them and don't want to give their wealth to them. A person has all the right to choose who they want to inherit their belongings after they die, even a person who works as a maid in their house or maybe a friend, a relative, or anything.

But some country protects the right of person to inheritance.  This is made to avoid confusion and misunderstanding between relatives, and the government had made an order of priority.  And this order is protected by the law, thus if something not normal happened, like disinheritance of the supposed to be heir, it should be done legally and can be contested legally.  Legally means according to what is written on the country's law about inheritance.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever Thought of Giving Back to the Community? on: November 15, 2023, 09:02:04 PM
Have you ever thought of giving back to the community if you ever had a successful gambling run? One of those punters on X, who usually wins large sums of money from betting, is giving out about 25 laptops to folks who cannot afford them, and he recently paid for someone's cybersecurity online course. Do you think this is something that you can do—give back to the community from your gambling runs?

I think the decision depends on the net outcome of my gambling activities.  If the audit of my gambling activities is in negative, then I do not think I am able to do what that guy did (giving back to the community) since in total I have not won anything even though the scenario given is I have been in a successful run.

I need to have huge profit in my gambling activities in order to do give away to the community.

Most people I know that giveaway money are streamers that happen to win a huge amount of money or have recorded a video good for premier.  They almost give away tens of thousands weekly if they had a great stream.  They said that it is a thanks giving for their follower and subscriber.

16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gambling and Invest in gambling. on: November 14, 2023, 10:47:14 PM
I agree with the earlier replies, you are venturing to a dangerous world if you start lending service for gamblers.  In my country, no one is jailed due to debt unless you requires the person to give you post dated checks, this way you can charge a criminal offense to the borrower.

Some people see it immoral but I do not mind as long as both party agree with the deal.  People looking for loan service and he provides it, it is a business between the two and we should not pry on it.  But for sure the risk of being not paid is extremely high because you are dealing with compulsive gambler here.  They might not save funds to pay you since all will be spent on gambling.  Asking for collateral is the way to go since more often than not, gamblers will not able to pay their debt to the loaner.

But if you wanted to have a better client, then offer your service out of the gambling world.  There are more client outside the casino unless you wanted to go underground and charge huge interest to gambler.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inquiry about FortuneJack - KYC and Withdrawals on: November 14, 2023, 10:27:50 PM
FortuneJack is one of the long running casino that is announced in this forum. They even spend money for advertisement and has one of the longest running signature campaign in this forum.  I think you need to be patient for the result of your KYC.

Quote
Have I been scammed?

I think you need to wait a little longer to know if you have been scammed or not. Don't just jump into conclusion or think that you have been scammed without waiting for the result of your KYC.  I have been a FortuneJack player for years now and I do not encounter any problem in withdrawing funds after I passed the KYC (this is my own experience and might not reflect others).

Although they have higher minimum requirement for withdrawal, I think they are reputable enough to trust as long as your account do not encounters any problem that conflicts their TOS.

Quote
But for 600 bucks lol, I hope it's not the case.
Anyway, I do not think they will tarnish their reputation for a small amount of $600.  Your withdrawal request will processed soon after you passed the KYC.

I would verify beforehand and also be ready for this kind of harassment. Some casinos like doing it a lot.

I believe this was done by another casino and not by Fortunejack.  This might be misleading making reader thinks that fortunejack do this kind of stuff if they just read the qouted message and not click the source of it.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin OGs, Can We Please Practice What we Preach? on: November 14, 2023, 10:10:40 PM

Or he is lying.

Although he sounds honest in the video, I don't rule it out, really. Some people have an art for deception.
We never know if this is real or not. But I have this question in mind, what and why will he do that, maybe for sympathy.

Some people looks for sympathy to get moral support or for donation, only the person knows the reason behind his action.  About people looking for sympathy in order to get some financial support from their listener, it happens everywhere. We have seen people do that, not only online but in the street as well.  Others are even knocking on every person's door to ask for help while presenting that they are in distress and in need but I am sure most of them are just modus operandi to trick people.

I don't say that this person do this stunt to get money from its viewer but if there is a donation address posted on it, then it is clearly the case but it seems the person story is real since he is not asking for any donations or whatever that will benefit him financially.

I believe he is sharing the story in good faith, that people will learn from his experience and learn to secure their financial account properly that hacking incident will have a very slim chance of happening.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and it's 4 Year-Cycle on: November 14, 2023, 09:53:18 PM
I could not establish the bitcoin cycle, because it is something unpredictable, the volatility is what makes the asset different and differentiates it from all the markets that have stocks, and I don't know but 2021 was when bitcoin had that great price of almost 70 thousand USD, and that makes it the year 2026 when the price will rise again? based on what? Here I have told you that there are many patterns in trading, and they can be what makes the difference but I don't think that is the case, I think that Bitcoin goes up or down because investors know when they should not make it go up, because In a pandemic or in wars it will not rise, it will rise in the best time that is for the investors, and they push it to a much higher level.

I think we need to look at the history of Bitcoin price.  From there we can mark the ATH before the bear enters the market.  We  can see from the history that there is 4 year apart from each cycle before the previous ATH is surpassed thus, the name Bitcoin 4-year cycle is created.

This cycles as stated in the earlier reply is highly influenced by the Bitcoin halving. Regardless of the news that happens each year , the Bitcoin having is major catalyst before the Bitcoin market starts to rally to record another ATH.  We had not experienced news that break an all time high in a span of time after the new ATH is recorded and before the halving event happen, it has been always after the halving event that makes the Bitcoin price to reach a new height.

Quote
I don't know but 2021 was when bitcoin had that great price of almost 70 thousand USD, and that makes it the year 2026 when the price will rise again? based on what?

It is always observed that bull market starts within a few months before or after the Bitcoin halving event, the price will possibly starts to rise again in the last quarter of 2023 or 1st quarter of the year 2024 and will record a new ATH a year after the halving, possibly in 2025.  That is based on the 4 year cycle that is discussed in this thread.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High fees are not bitcoin's destinty on: November 14, 2023, 09:32:41 PM
To solve the network congestion and address the high transaction fee issue, the only solution is for the Bitcoin network to scale.  There are also some solution that uses layer 2 protocol such as lightning network.

The development of Bitcoin is yet final, since it is a technology, the developer will find way to solve the scalability problem of Bitcoin.  I am also one of those that believe that it is not destiny of Bitcoin to have high transaction fee.  It counters the goal of Bitcoin to be adopted by people and use as cheaper alternative  method of payment.

I think this ordinal spam can be taken as a challenge for developers to solve the scalability issue of Bitcoin.  We might take this as the possible occurrence in the future when the adoption of Bitcoin is high enough that the volume of transaction is 10x to 100x larger than the current normal volume of transaction.

Regardless whether these ordinal have a discounted tx fee or not, the main issue is that the current setup of Bitcoin network scalability is not ready for ordinals spam when the taproot upgrade is implemented.
