261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Google New Policy: NFT Ads is allowed starting Sept. 15 on: September 07, 2023, 01:43:18 AM
While I was browsing the net for the latest update on cryptocurrency, I happen to stumble on a Cointelegraph article that Google, starting Sept. 15 will allow ad for NFT games.

Link for the article: Google will allow ads for NFT games starting Sept. 15

NFT games advertisement is allowed as long as they don't promote gambling.  So this will be a good news for P2E games that uses NFT as their feature focal point.  Game like Axie infinity and alike will have a chance to reach more audience by this change of policy.

So in the future, we might find ourselves being bombarded by NFT ads link while using google platform.

Prior to this google had banned all cryptocurrency ads on their platform back in 2018.  I wonder what makes the Google platform to change their views and make a new policy accepting NFT ads.  Any thought?
262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto or Real estate on: September 07, 2023, 12:47:29 AM
Crypto.

Why?

The answer is very simple, I don't want to be a slave to the government.
Show me real estate that doesn't take from you. If there was real estate I could buy and hold without any expenses I'd take that over crypto, but there's nothing like that.
Everywhere you have to pay property tax and often also pay garbage fee and maintenance. I have a small apartment that I've inherited and that costs me about 1k USD a year, even if it's completely empty, unused and unheated. Even if I don't take any profit from owning it, just hold for a rainy day.

My bitcoin doesn't tax me like that.

I think you are just evading taxes for your Crypto gain  Grin (j/k).  Cryptocurrency and Real estate are two different entity so their taxation have different approach.  Real estate being a taxable tangible asset is subject to taxation  by the government  while Cryptocurrency being an intangible asset is only subject to taxation when there is a capital gain.

Anyone can read the links for more information:
Taxable Asset
Intangible Personal Property: Definition, Types, and Example

Anyway, I also prefer cryptocurrency because of the sole reason of having a low entry point, and higher chance of gaining profit due to its current status of being in early stages.  Aside from that due to the same reason @coolcoinz stated, holding it is not taxable until we sell it at the higher price. While real estate is subject to annual tax even, reason why some think of it as a liability than asset when left idle for years.
263  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting the Right Information About Bitcoin and Don't Be Misguided! on: September 07, 2023, 12:12:07 AM
While telling others about Bitcoin, you have to remember that not everyone will adopt to using Bitcoin, so don't force someone into investing.
Please, how exactly can someone be forced to invest in bitcoin?

I also can't find ways a person can be forced into Bitcoin investment.  People might be enticed by triggering greed that lead to the investors being pressured to invest to Bitcoin since the trigger is being pressured by own greed.

Quote
If someone his introducing bitcoin to another person, the person introducing bitcoin should let the other person know able the pros and cons of bitcoin. Definitely you are right. But in anything we are doing, we should know how to make proper research. If you do not have that in mind to make research yourself, people can lead you to the wrong way.

The person who introduced BTC that hides the risk might have a hidden agenda of profiting from the person though affiliate system.

There is one thing that some people do not  know, a friend can introduce a scam business to another friend and both of them would be scam. If the friend knows that it is a scam, he might not tell his friends to invest in the business. If you introduce bitcoin to someone and the you talked only about the pros, likely the you do not know about the cons. People should do their own research before investing.

It is entirely correct within true friends, they will not allow any harm come to their friends unless they are also unaware of that harm.  The sad thing is that many pretends to be a friend just to exploit us and profit with our misfortunes. So it is best to know who to be friends with and always be vigilant and do intensive research on any investment offer our friends give us, we might end up saving that friend from losing more money if we happen to find that what he is offering is a scam investment scheme.
264  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How dose Bitcoin relate to telecommunication? on: August 24, 2023, 09:04:21 PM
Here is a good read on how Bitcoin is related to telecommunications:

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/blockchain-telecom-industry-golam-dastagir
https://cointelegraph.com/news/how-bitcoin-disrupts-telecommunications
https://www.thekickassentrepreneur.com/bitcoin-and-telecommunications/

Since Bitcoin is a blockchain technology it can help greatly in telecommunication by:

  • Securing messages
  • Securing VoIp
Quote
Blockchain technology can have an important role in reducing the risk of interoperability. It will help to create a standard communication protocol that will ensure the existence of decentralized apps across an interoperable network.

This will also help facilitate social communication across apps. Bitcoin and blockchain tend to grow across different sectors. Businesses across different sectors should identify how these technologies will be helpful.

In this article: https://www.wipro.com/business-process/blockchain-in-telecom-do-we-want-to-take-that-jump/

It clearly explained how a Blockchain technology can solve some problems in telecommunication

Quote
1. Network & infrastructure – Telcos are complex and they require significant infrastructure projects and investments. Almost all telecom organizations have undergone the 4G/LTE network set up and by the time they reap benefits, we already have 5G coming in forcing them to upgrade again.
2. Business/operation support systems – Existing technologies are not collaborative, stubborn and protected. They have always resulted in poor customer experience, have poor implication on profit & loss statements due to leakages and process inefficiencies.
3. Price wars – the slurry of new age telecom providers entering the market has made the end customers spoilt. With service providers having to almost unanimously give abundant free calls and data packages to the consumers, we are looking at underutilized data, calls, SMSs from almost all subscribers.
4. Frauds: According to a report released by Deloitte1, Communication Service Providers (CSP) lose ~ USD 40 Bn every year due to fraudulent activities.

This also stated the use case of Blockchain tech on Telecom
Quote
Use cases in telecom

With the multiple pain points coming, we also have emerging technologies like Blockchain that helps CSPs to work and keep themselves profitable and relevant in the market. In this section we will try and correlate the use case as per the pain points mentioned in the section above:

  • Almost all organizations started to board the 4G/LTE train when it began. The investments were significant, and the ROI was barely making it. Competition is anyway quite high and then you have heavily invested entrants who are willing to bleed the competition to death. (Jio can be a great example in India). It is all but natural for organizations to start sharing the new infra costs. The term coined “sharing economy” brings in its own complications and challenges. Multiple vendors and contracts are the norm in this scenario. How does Blockchain help? Due to its decentralized features and transparency, Blockchain allows a level playing field for telecom players.
  • In the business/operation support systems scenario, you could look at services provided by Telcos as a complex ecosystem when it let’s say undergoes the entire Quote to Cash value stream. The entire ecosystem is complex with multi-threaded supply chain ecosystem that requires interdependent teams. Blockchain would enable use cases where telcos will be able to remove middlemen in inter carrier settlements, prevent fraud during roaming and mobile number portability processes. It can also solve process inefficiencies by building efficient supply chain systems.
  • Fraud prevention is another use case that Telcos are depending on Blockchain to help cater to. If we have to calculate fraud costs – we are looking at ~ USD 40 billion (Deloitte) annually. Using Blockchain we can look at significantly decreasing the cost of fraud in roaming and in identity management.
  • Micropayments – This is another fantastic use case currently in use for multiple telecom operators. The telecom organizations can utilize Blockchain to enable these payments for OTT services such as payment wallets, music applications, games etc. These services along with user to user monetary transfer services can result in positive revenues for the service provider and hence impact the company in a positive manner.
  • Smart contracting – automation of internal processes through Blockchain. We can look at processes such as billing, roaming and supply chain management. The present transactions operate through ledgers that need to undergo a clearing house to get approved. By using Blockchain, Smart Contracts can automate this process and guarantee the settlement between the participants, by routing from one operator’s Blockchain to another operator and increase transparency to the end customer. Assume a subscriber is operating while on roaming and dials out on the phone network. This transaction is logged on the Blockchain network (from the call being picked up to the call being ended) and saved. The smart contract rules define the charges and the payment is registered. The transparency from point A -Z ensures the integrity of the transaction.
265  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: YOU ARE LUCKY TO BE IN THIS FORUM on: August 21, 2023, 12:22:56 AM
I suggest you do your research about this to see how you can take advantage of that opportunity.

Just by reading different threads with regards to Bitcoin dump, we can easily picture out what to do in this kind of situation.  For those who have Bitcoin, holding is the best course of decision since one does not sell at a lose.  And for those who wanted to buy Bitcoin, now is the best time since the market price plummet, this is the time to buy Bitcoin at a discount.  Nothing beats buying Bitcoin at the lowest price possible.

Precisely. Everyone gets lucky upon knowing this forum, especially if you stayed on the forum for years and maximize your crypto learning. Without this, I guess until now I would still be a fan of fiat and would also think the same majority people believe that bitcoin is a big scam and would never do anything good with our finances. But thankfully, I chose to stay in this forum and now my knowledge and skills have even lead me to its great advantage, that is finding profits through my crypto investments as well participating signature campaigns that are giving us good compensation.

I can't agree more.  I even think it is a blessings to know this forum and not just being lucky.  This forum keep us updated on the Crypto happening and at the same time enable us to see and know different views of each member.  This forum even explains the current update and the pros and cons through endless debates of members who have different points of view.

This forum is a Bitcoin and cryptocurrency information haven that can help us adapt on the ever changing financial systems.

It is really interesting to know that there are people giving their side of thoughts in order to give gamblers advice when they are having difficulty to prevent themselves from gambling.  Though I would say it always ends up on the personal discipline and self control, these few advises can make people thinks another means or reason for them to stop gambling and if they failed to, the latter advise of keeping oneself loses to minimum is also a good alternative option.
269  Economy / Economics / Re: Things you should know about Money mindset on: July 11, 2023, 01:41:32 PM
Money this and money that, why people are so obsessed with money and "getting rich," whatever that means. How much do you own that you can consider yourself rich? I ask the same question about the correct mindset about money and ChatGPT answered it beautifully...

Quote
1. Money is a tool: Recognize that money is a means to an end, not an end in itself. It is a tool that enables you to achieve your goals, provide for your needs, and live a fulfilling life. Avoid viewing money as the ultimate source of happiness or defining your self-worth solely based on your financial status.
Source: AI-generated ChatGPT answer

It's true, you don't have to view money as your ultimate goal, but just as a means to live your life to the fullest. Also, money is about money creation, i.e, work, business, and investment, thus only changing your mindset won't get you anywhere.

As a tool, money is a very powerful tool that enable to move even the most influencial people.  This is the main reason why many people are so dedicated to earn as much money as they can.  To secure their future and their living.  Being rich is dependent on the person because there are many people who have lots of money and does not feel that it is even enough for them and still look for ways to accumulate more money.

271  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Board explanation for newbies on: June 30, 2023, 10:06:31 PM
I noticed most newbies make post in wrong section and of course members always correct them  I  don't know if any post like this have been made before but i want to suggest  that a more established member than I who knows these boards better should please create a thread in the beginner section on what kind of posts should be on each boards to assist these newbies
Thanks

I do not think that there is a need to create a thread since each board has already its information or a brief description on what that board is about.  Aside from that some of the board are self explanatory just like this board Beginners and help.

This is the problem with people who like to be spoon fed.  Why not try to read more and work harder to understand each definition of the forum board?
272  Economy / Gambling / Re: Loophole in stopping Money Laundering through Wagering on: June 29, 2023, 10:28:49 PM
I personally don't think that casinos are used to wash money. At least anymore. Laws are too strict on that. NTFs however...

I think otherwise, many people still use casinos to wash money.  I think this is one of the problem that will stay no matter how strict the casino is.  A player can provide the proof where the fund came from but the person on the receiving end of that fund will never know where it is coming from nor the source of that money since it has been mixed in the casinos hand.  In cryptocurrency, the fund is often released from the hot wallet of the casino and not from the address of the person who withdraw the money.

But if we talk about money laundering, the casino has the separate security for that.  The wagering requirement is not to prevent mone laundering or washing coins but rather as a requirement so that a casino can have the chance to at least eat some of the gambler's balance.
273  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies be wary of this website on: June 29, 2023, 10:04:20 PM
Due to the state of the victims mental health after losing their bitcoin, websites like this can quickly entice the victim to just click on the page and proceed with making payment and giving their personal information, all in the hopes of recovering their stolen bitcoin or compromised wallet. This is one another reason why knowledge is powerful and should not be taken for granted.

Only naive and desperate can fall into their scam.  I agree that due to mental state of the person who lost their Bitcoin and very desperate to recover it, they might forget the rationality of the offer by that scam site.  But for those who stay calm and collected can easily see their service as fraud since Bitcoin as we all know is irreversible, and an account being hacked, unless they are the hacker, the pursuer cannot forced these hacker to return the victim's money same goes with the scam ICO.

274  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallet on: June 29, 2023, 09:46:38 PM
How do you add money to your wallet to pay bitcoin to someone or a company?

It is an obvious step that you need to buy Bitcoin either from centralized exchanges or P2P.  Then send that Bitcoin to the wallet address you intend to pay with.

I hit send and it says I don't have enough funds but I don't see anywhere that it allows me to add funds.

If you just created a wallet then you can find a wallet address, it is where you send your Bitcoin from the exchanges where you bought your BTC.  Anyway, your questions and situation is so vague since you do not state that you have fund on that wallet. And if ever you have the fund, then it is probably that your sending an amount that is larger than your available balance.

275  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it too late for newbies? on: June 29, 2023, 09:29:53 PM
Considering the market right now, I would say wait for some time to invest because the market may go down again. In less than a week, the Bitcoin market has increased to about $5000. If the market can maintain this value, then there is a possibility that the market will increase further. Basically, we should wait for some time to understand the market condition.

News had been predicting that the next month would be another surge of Bitcoin as it stated that Bitcoin bulls are getting ready for the seasonal surge.[1]

Quote
The largest cryptocurrency by market cap tends to rally in the month of July, the report said.

Matrixport stated that  Bitcoin tends to rally during the month of July, so if the person who intend to invest have to wait for some days, there is a possibility that he will be buying Bitcoin at a possible higher price if the analogy of Matrixport is true.

How about instead of waiting, start accumulating then DCA all the way so that the we can average down if the price do plummet.

Quote
Because if we invest during this bullish period and after investing we may lose by investing if the price of Bitcoin falls.

Bitcoin market is yet to enter the bull run state, the current surge is just a market recovery.

276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My bitcoin journey mistakes and moral lesson on: June 28, 2023, 09:32:13 PM
when people give you advice, their intention may be good for you, but unknowingly to them that they have temporarily or permanently made you lose a lifetime opportunity that's if you listen to their advice. after listening to individual advice, it is your duty and decision as a person to filter the advice before making use of the ones you see that will be helpful to you. There is no harm in trying new ideas, just imagine, if I had attempted such innovations, even if is with a small amount of money, may be by now I would have been rich.

Reason why we have to verify information and weigh advices according to the information we gather.  No one to blame except ourselves if we happen to miss opportunities because we listened to the naysayers.  Our life our decision, no one can force us to do other's bidding unless we allowed it ourselves.

Quote
In this life, If you want to grow financially, one risk or the other must be involved.
In the pursuit of success, you must lose to learn a particular technique for the avoidance of its repetition.

No pain, no gain, just like if the risk is high, the possibility of high reward is huge.  And we can avoid losing to be able to learn by simply learning from other's mistakes.  We don't have to experience all the loses in order to learn since we can always make an example of other's personal experience.

Quote
Don't live your life according to the criticism and dictates around you, If not, you will be suffocated with stained ideas, as long as you don't cause people's pain, chase your dreams, enquire and develop yourself in such a way that people will see you as a role model. People must talk, just be who you are, and be committed to making your dreams a reality.

I agree, besides we are the only one who knows ourselves.  People who are confident with what they are doing and firmly believe on their ability, they never give a damn on what other people have to say.

Quote
I am where I am today because I was unable to understand the value of making use of my instinct, But at least the knowledge I have about Bitcoin in the recent time is very tremendous more than before, from now onward nobody will ever discourage me from investing in any commodity that I see as a profitable one, no matter the risk that's involved. I will take it, There is no harm in trying with a small amount of money.

I think you failed to do your own research and rely on other's to decide thing for you.  But well, as long as we learn on our mistakes, there is always a better future lies ahead for us.
277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: As a merchant, what percentage do you afford to lose on fees? on: June 28, 2023, 08:34:06 PM
I mean it's just their choice to use which currency and if Bitcoin fee is really high and not profitable for you, you can ask them to pay higher 10-20% to cover up the fees even though it will make them discouraged to pay using Bitcoin.

What would you do a a client if I were to ask you for an extra 20% if paying with Bitcoin? Just as every single one of the customers I have they will either ask for a payment in another coin or don't buy, which would end up with me and them stop using Bitcoin, and I doubt that's what anyone here would want to hear as an outcome!

You can just mark up your goods with additional 20% and give that 20% discount to your client who are asking for that extra.  It is just an easy problem.  And if they are whining about fees, why not do the transaction in a centralized exchange taking advantage of internal transfers since they are free.

The fees to send to you are paid by the person sending it, so you do not loose anything coming in.
Going out to pay your bills, would be where you have to pay. BUT, unless you have no other revenue and NEED to spend the BTC on bills that HAVE TO get paid then you can do a bit of scheduling to move the funds.

And if the the person seeding it realizes he pays 35$ out of his pocket for 25$ do you think he will stay pay? No they don't!
For the second part, my total turnout is probably twice my holdings, I can't afford to have everything locked in BTC and wait for the fees to come down to 1sat/b, I need to either use those or take a loan, and that is something so crazy I would not think for a second seriously as a solution!

You can always look for another option for payment.  No one is pointing a knife on you to keep yourself on using BTC.  If it is devastating for your business then look for an alternative and if ever you still wanted to be paid in Bitcoin as mk4 stated, centralized services such as internal transfer on centralized exchange can be a great help.

278  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: To Earn or to Talk, what is Your Role here on Bitcointalk? on: June 28, 2023, 08:08:24 PM
Member in the forum don't just fall into the talk or earn category.  There are also lurker, reader, spammer, troll etc...  Aside from that many that you categorized as talker are at the same time earner since it would be a waste if one keep on talking when there is an option to earn from it.

Quote
but some talkers never get to become earners because they never learnt anything.
Or because they have no interest in monetizing their accounts.

This could be the case since those who have lots of knowledge about Bitcoin had been in the forum for so long and possibly had accumulated tons of BTC that they can be able to sustain themselves even without participating in the forum activity that will enable them to earn every time they do their talking.
279  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you think, do you see slave trading as a means of boosting economic grow on: June 25, 2023, 10:10:02 PM
This kind of trade is already obsolete and is illegal. Although in the early civilization, slave trading is a way or form of gaining manpower for the buyer and income for the seller, it helps boost economic growth because there is more manpower to build infrastructure and other task such as agricultural farming, entertainment and other manual labors.  They even use slaves for conquest to expand their domain while getting more slaves to sell.

In the present time, slave trading does not boost economic growth anymore since most people that practice this kind of activity often keep the benefits for themselves and the country does not benefit from it since this kind of activity does not generate tax since it is illegal.

Anyway, this is one good articlehow slave trading boost one economy : https://www.nationalgeographic.com/history/article/how-slavery-helped-build-a-world-economy

How Slavery Helped Build a World Economy
The slavery system in the United States was a national system that touched the very core of its economic and political life.
