21  Economy / Economics / Re: Being rich = not looking at price tag on: November 13, 2023, 11:08:25 PM
I often read people saying they want to earn enough money so they don't have to look at price tag of product. Imo, even if you are rich you wouldn't want to spend money on things that are not worthy of price being paid.

I believe the statement is just an idiomatic expression  which means to afford anything regardless of price and has not to worry whether his cash is enough or not.

You wanna look at product and then it's price, if it's worthy of price, you purchase the product.

Wise buyer surely do this, they always weigh the price and the personal assessment value of the item before purchasing it.  Rich people who knows financial management always do this kind of thing called value buy.  I even often see well-off people looking for promos and sales that they think is a good deal in relation to the price when I happen to work as a student assistant in a dept. store, in my college years.

* I remember a while ago I needed some driver SW and found that the first Google result gave me a phishing link for Nvidia services.
I was contacted to work for a group of people who will use my credit card to set up a Google advertisement and that was a very scam project. I declined to work for them after knowing it was a scam and later I saw that advert at the very first page of Google with a phishing link and cloned website.

This is an obvious scam, why they will use my card to set up their own google advertisement, why not use their own.  Only greedy who thinks that they will earn huge on the offer falls for this kind of scamy trick.  Lucky you are able to detect scams, else you could have suffered financial losses.

The invitation on telegram and other messaging apps and offering too good to be true offers are rampant.  We better  just ignore unsolicited messages from unknown people or account.

23  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Security Should Be Your First Target as a Newbie on: November 13, 2023, 10:24:55 PM
True, I see plenty questions people asking For investment, but often they have no idea of securing their investment.

We have seen already nothing is truly safe as some fiascos lately, such as ledger — it's questionable after ledger recover. Non-custodial wallets? Atomic wallet got hacked. Exchanges? They get hacked all time.

People tends to invest first then after that is learning how to secure their investment which I think is very risky.  I agree with @OP that before releasing any finances, we must know about our investment and the security revolves around it.  We should learn the basic fundamental of the investment, and how to secure that investment before getting into the investment venture itself.  This should be the process so that hackers, scammers and fraudster have little time frame to caught of off-guard or chance of stealing our investments.
24  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do you want to play on casinos without KYC requirements? on: November 13, 2023, 10:08:29 PM

Why would you want to avoid being identified, if you gamble legally and if you are not a criminal? Let's discuss the reasons why KYC are not advantageous for the gamblers and casinos?

The list can easily outweigh by the risk of a data leak.  Having a KYC on a weak security casino can be resulted to a data leak if some hackers are able to breach the security of a casino.  Or the casino intend to get money form their customer data by selling them to other company.

It is due to data privacy, one of the major reason why many gambler prefer to play on a casinos that does not require KYC requirement, while others are just too lazy to undergo the process of submitting personal information to the casino.

Imagine the trouble of scanning the valid ID, taking  a selfie while holding both the valid ID and the bond paper where the name of the casino is written and uploading them to the site. I, myself would rather not to do such process and will choose the casino that does not require us to do such tasks.
25  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading vs HODL - Personal Experience for Newbies on: November 13, 2023, 09:48:04 PM
This is for newbies, so yeah I agree with @OP,  if we are new to the market, we will never have 100% success in trading so hodl is the best choice for us newbies and sell them at a profit.  (still we need to trade to realize our profit)

Quote
Bitcoin Trading will never be profitable in the long term as compared to HODL.
But for the seasoned traders this statement is a myth.  Trading in computation is way more profitable than just holding our Bitcoins.  We do not need to do day trade to say we are trading. Trading is simply buying and selling  regardless of the frequency or time frame, every time we buy and sell our holdings we do trade.  Even selling after a long hold is called trading, IMO.

In reality, you will never realize your profit if you just hodl.  you need to do trade in order to make profit by selling your holdings when profit is seen.
26  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I need your contribution and opinion on: November 12, 2023, 11:02:08 PM
If you consider the fact that Bitcoin can be bought in chunks, you can never think that it is very expensive or very high to invest.  Imagine, you can buy at least $5-$10 of Bitcoin, and that amount is affordable even in a developing country where wages is much lower than the developed one.

Please be reminded that we don't have to buy the whole Bitcoin in order to invest on it.  If we think that way then it is indeed very expensive because $37k is not a small sum of money but it is a good thing that Bitcoin is divisible and we don't need to have $37k to get into Bitcoin investment.

Learn to DCA if we don't have big enough fund to get a huge chunk of BTC, accumulating through DCA is one of the better strategy in accumulating Bitcoin without putting too much stress on our financial capability.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcin does not support financial crimes and is not involve in political affairs on: November 12, 2023, 10:43:31 PM
This is complete nonsense. Firstly, there is no proof that Hamas used Bitcoin in its surprise attack on Israel. Secondly, even if it is proven that they used Bitcoin, what is the difference? What does Bitcoin have to do with the story? If they ban Bitcoin won't Hamas fighters be able to raise money again???!!!

I don't even heard that there's a Bitcoin airbomb-dropped in Israel.  What I see are missiles and bullets everywhere.  When they are talking about Bitcoin used to finance Hamas, they should have consider the integrity of the news by showing a Bitcoin transaction that is used to fund Hamas movement.  As long as there is no proven Bitcoin address, a proven account under Hamas regiment that uses Bitcoin in purchasing fire powers and supplies, this kind of news is good as hear say.  There is no integrity on it, IMO.

They've done this many times even before Bitcoin existed, so why all the hype? It is better for them to focus on ending the war between the Palestinians and the Israelis rather than ignite a new war against Bitcoin.

It is Bitcoin and surely new to the eyes of most of the readers.  Bitcoin is trending and the writer possibly thinks that they can get more attention if they highlights the use of the cryptocurrency in this kind of event.

It is really funny how they neglect the information that fiat currency is way more used to fund this crime/terrorist act.  Besides Bitcoin is only a currency, whether they will use it for fund for war or charity, it depends on the people using it.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Refer to my previous topic: "Investing plan" on: November 12, 2023, 10:24:04 PM
Aside from the given advice by earlier replies, I would like to add to never save your seedphrases and privatekey to a cloud storage.  Even if it is protected by password, someone might be able to hack that cloud storage and crack your password.  This link might give you a hint or explanation why storing seed phrases/private key online is not advisable.

Isn't it intriguing how many bitcoins the "ordinary" individual has? Like asking, "How many dollars does the average person have in their wallet?"

It does not intrigue me since I have no intention in putting my nose on other people's business.  I only focus on how much BTC I can accumulate myself since it does not benefit me if ever I know other people's BTC holdings unless I have a nefarious plan which is far from happening.  Besides it is an extra effort to investigate other peoples BTC stash when I myself have handful of responsibilities to do.  Cheesy
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin adaption in Turkey on: November 12, 2023, 10:05:36 PM
Being living in the neighbours of Turkey, in the same Asian region, it hurts when I see that our government here wants to declare the use of crypto as illegal and does not think crypto is a good thing. Sometimes I think we need to migrate to a crypto friendly country.

It is not surprising to see government take a hostile step towards cryptocurrency.  We all know that they wanted to control the flows of finance in their jurisdiction, I just wished that those government that had not yet banned Bitcoin will have an open mind and understand and acknowledge the benefits people get from using Bitcoin.  And for those that already banned Bitcoin, I hope they can make some consideration.  Sometime government goes under the disguise of protecting their citizen in order to persuade people that they are doing such things for the people but the truth is that, they are doing it for their own benefit of controlling the activities of their citizen.

I am glad that I am living in a Bitcoin friendly country, so if you are looking for a country that is Bitcoin friendly and have cheaper cost of commodities in reference to your country's cost, you can try moving to the Philippines  Grin.  People are friendly here and we have the Bitcoin Island where most of stalls are accepting Bitcoin.
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not get scammed by this, specially newcomers. on: November 12, 2023, 09:47:38 PM
More likely the starter of that thread offers the service of recovering lost Bitcoin and probably the thread is design to get the attention of people who lost their BTC on some scam or hack then the thread starter with his other account will give offers which possibly interesting to the vicitms and that way they can scam money from people who subscribe for their services.

It is a known fact that cryptocurrency specifically Bitcoin transaction is non-reversible.  Most scam incident are unable to recover the funds lost even if the scammer is caught. So if there are people offering that they can recover lost funds due to hack or scam, they are more likely scammers themselves unless they are the authority delegated for this cases.
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin OGs, Can We Please Practice What we Preach? on: November 12, 2023, 09:27:37 PM

I can recall a friend of mine then I was telling him to moved out his fund from exchange though he is a trader and he only moves his funds from exchange to exchange he doesn't own a none custodial wallet and when I told him he said he doesn't have time to store his asset in a wallet. He was saying it's additional fee moving funds around wallet instead he prefers sending to exchange where he do have new signal to trade but unfortunately he was among the FTX scandal and I knew he learnt in a hard way.

Your friend is a trader and I bet he is trading those funds stashed in an exchange.  He was not hacked but rather got defraud by the company he trusted.  He has not lost his holdings if the company he trusted did not scam him.

And that is the main problem of a trader, since the fund is actively trading, it is actually an extra expenses and time that might cause the trader a delay and may lost a possible profit from a trade if he put his fund in a cold storage then send it to exchange when the trading get crazy.  I have such kind of experience when I am holding Bitcoin and the altcoin I am watching gets a momentary dump, so I send BTC to the exchange but the moment it confirms, the momentary dump were taken advantage by other people whose fund is already on the exchange.

On the other hand holding is different.  The fund is idle so there is actually no reason to stash it on exchanges.  The idle fund should be securely stash in an offline wallet, and yes much better if it is on an air-gapped device especially if we plan to hold it for decades.

About the incident, I feel sorry for the person but he should be the first one using a hardware wallet when he is preaching newbies to use one.  His experience is a good lesson for us to learn something.  It is a message that no matter how confident we are on securing out wallet if it is connected on the internet, there is no assurance that it is safe forever.  Lesson learned that keeping Bitcoin in an offline storage or using a hardware wallet while keeping the back up in a safe place that is water and fire proof is much better.
32  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: For Newbies Interested in Gambling on: November 09, 2023, 11:41:21 PM
Being patient and consistently involved in healthy gambling habits will surely make you a successful gambler.
Do you mean a gambler should be successful in gambling? It is good to be patient while gambling and it is good to also follow the rules for you not to be addicted or lose too much money, but gambling is not where we should think about success.
Actually, success has many meanings, but if what is meant is success in generating profits to enrich oneself then that is wrong because the definition of successful gamblers are those who can control themselves and their finances in gambling.
Most gamblers are controlled by their gambling activities so they forget control and end up becoming gambling addicts.
I wouldn't use the word success as a gambler but it should be a disciplined gambler, This is because when you are disciplined in whatever that you are doing, you will do it with care and take some risk management into consideration before coming to conclusion and finally, it can lead to success.

I agree that disciplined gambler should be the term and these kind of gambler have control on their activities and be able to minimize the risk while making use of their knowledge to maximize the potential of ending the session with a win.

Quote
There are different ways in which one can discipline himself in his gambling activities by set a time limit for his gambling, only use the amount of money that he can afford to lose to gamble and that gambler should never allow himself to be carried away by his emotion and start chasing his losses. With this three orientation, it can help you to be disciplined on your gambling activities so that you don't end up becoming an addict. Then maybe someday, you might hit it very big.

Time management, bankroll management are the two common disciplines in gambling.  Having an emotional discipline also help, and discipline about not taking any beverages that can intoxicate us and affect our decision can also help maintain our sanity while we are into gambling activities.

33  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often is your luck in gambling? on: November 09, 2023, 11:23:29 PM

But when you get out when you already won, do you mentally book that as a win? Wouldn't it make more sense to consider all the gambling we do in our lives as one single session when we make the mathematical breakdown to see whether we are at a net profit or net loss?

It will make you restless if you do not separate your sessions.  If you put your gambling activity in one session then there is a tendency for you to chase losses.  It is always good to have a fresh start every session letting go of the losses and try not to recover them because it can affect our gambling decisions.  It may even cause a trigger where a gambler don't care anymore and will continue to chase his losses.

It is ok to have check and balance or audit of the entire gambling session but considering the life time gambling as one session seems off for me.

I think considering sessions in isolation maybe one reason why people continuously return to gambling as every now and then they have a successful day or weekend although they never have a successful year on average. But these single successes could falsely influence us, making us believe that on a good day we could turn our loss into profits. Could that make sense?

I can't comprehend what you are trying to say, since I believe that gambler not letting go of losses and thinking that their next session is the continuation of their previous gambling activity may render them to think of chasing losses if their previous session is a loss.

I believe it is always best to think that every gambling activities in different days is different sessions making a gambler to think that he is starting at 0 again and not in negative or positive which can affect is gambling decision.
34  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What impact does the BTC price have on your gambling habits? on: November 09, 2023, 11:05:11 PM
Dear fellow gamblers, as title topic said, I have a question/survey for you!

What impact does the BTC price have on your play (gambling both in casino/sports betting/binary options etc)?

I don't think that Bitcoin price have an impact on my gameplay since I always use a fix bankroll in USD when I am playing. This bankroll determine how long I will play on the casino.  If it gets depleted easily, I stop playing and if I am lucky, I am able to play several hours with winnings in my hand.

Did you play more? Did you play less? Any thought or opinion on that?

As I stated the time spend in playing in my gambling activity is dependent on how lucky I am on that session.  I always put a fix amount in my bankroll so whether Bitcoin price is higher or lower does not affect my gambling activities.

35  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Health Benefits of Gambling on: November 09, 2023, 10:49:40 PM
Gambling is not bad after all but addiction is, gambling has been receiving a lot of negative reactions and feedback but gambling also has a lot of health benefits associated with it but you can only get these benefits if you are a responsible gambler and you have total control of what you wage and limit your bankroll

These are some of the benefits to see more of its benefits you can read the whole article here

Can you add more besides what's written in this article?

Surprising Health Benefits of Gambling
-Snip-

Sorry but for me this article is totally BS. It mentions some good things about gambling we have to remember that it can also be really bad for people. Some people can get addicted to gambling and lose a lot of money which can cause a lot of problems. The article says that gambling can help people take risks and enjoy challenges but the problem is that gambling is mostly based on luck so it's not a good way to learn about taking risks. It can also make people more stressed and distracted instead of helping them focus. In the end gambling can be risky and might not be a good way to improve your health.

Anything that is excessive is bad.  Even drugs that cure illness can kill a person when overdosed. Foods that sustain us and make us healthy can also make us malnourished if over eaten same goes with gambling benefits. The benefits can be gained if the person is gambling responsibly.  Meaning the person is moderating his gambling activities and does not abuse it.

The listed benefits have medical backing, IMO, so I do not think that it is a BS thing.
36  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Out of curiosity, how much you wagered recently? on: November 09, 2023, 10:16:50 PM
I also prefer betting where the odds are more certain and clear, which is different from those who have a lot of money where it is possible for them to easily get that money back
It's a common misperception that those who have a lot of money can easily get their lost money back or recover their losses when in reality, it doesn't work that way. If it was possible, everyone would take loans and borrow money and use that money to earn millions of dollars from gambling by starting lower, and then if they had lost, would recover the lost money since they have a large bankroll, and if that was possible, casino businesses wouldn't be profitable and gambling would have vanished from the history forever because no one would create and set a platform for us to earn money from it that they will pay from their pockets.

True that, having huge amount of fund does not guarantee us to recover our losses but due to the deep fund in the pocket a gambler will have more chance of recovering their fund because they can play longer than those who do not have much of fund in the bankroll.  More betting mean more chance of winning and also at the same time losing.

So, even the ones that have a lot of money can lose everything they have if they gamble recklessly. Even if they don't lose everything, they won't always be able to recover their losses because when they try to do that, they will start losing more and if they don't stop on time, they will have to lose everything eventually.

I agree, a gambler must not be reckless in their bet.  They should plan and think if their current session is worth continuing or not.  It is better to set a limiter in order to avoid huge losses in one sitting.
37  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ BITCASINO - Elevate Your Gameplay 💎 #1 VIP Crypto Casino ✈️ on: November 09, 2023, 09:59:33 PM
Today I found another slot with pretty low LIVE RTP, just one percent it was:

So I played it for 30 minutes, and it surely wasn't 1% for me. With all those wins along the way

it ended up being more like 99% for me. Smiley

Good for you it looks like the shown RTP is starting to ascend and you timed it right.  I do not think that the mentioned RTP is an indicator of the chance of winning because I even played in 150%+ RTP and ended up with a lose  Grin.  Probably I timed it when it is about to descend.

And, of course, I played my all-time favourite Bitcasino Billion and it didn't dissappointed me this time too:

54x of my bet. What more can you wish for? Smiley

A thousand x?  There is no denying that 1000x is way better than 54x but I will also settle with that result as long as it is in profit than having a lose.  Anyway, congratulation on the win and good session.

Got surprised for seeing bitcoin priced reach for $36,700+ today ! This determine that there's huge chance that bitcoin price would able to pump more then reach for another level. Halving season is quiet more exciting so for sure at this moment to many people are enjoying to see the current price action.

Everything above 35k is very easy to achieve now that 30K resistance is completely erased. There’s no known resistance near and 40K is still the closest possible resistance which I think the next possible support when the current pump sideways again.

I think the market target is to breach $40k and then we might see some people cashing out for profit.

That's why its always good to see some casino like bitcasino is running a bitcoin prediction contest since this will make people feel excited about them as well they can follow people's prediction and listen to what they think possible price to reach on next month or for next year.

Bitcoin predictor contest for month of November still running come and participate guys https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5472414.20

Its really fun to speculate what's going on there.

Too bad to those who early place their predictions when Bitcoin price is below 35K because everyone is expecting that we might see a major pull back when 35K hit which didn’t happened. I believe everyone is taking their time now until the first entry deadline to have a very close prediction to the potential price on target date.

But I’m surprised that someone still predict above 35k which is really good candidate for potential winners.  Shocked

Who knows Bitcoin price is too unpredictable and highly volatile, there are instances in the Bitcoin history that it crash hard after a rally due to someone selling a huge chunk of Bitcoin and/or some news that greatly alters the Bitcoin market sentiment.
38  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have your own casino. on: November 09, 2023, 09:38:42 PM
Someone on the internet stated that anyone who really wanted to create a casino needs a fund raging from $50k to more than $20m.  I am no where to have this amount so I just ignore my dream of setting up a casino.

If in case someone has this account and still dream to establish his own casino then I believe reading this article  may help  you.

It is said that online casino is way cheaper than the land based casino in terms of establishing the operation since there is no need to buy lands and physical machines.  What good in online casino is that one can crowdfund his plan which is easier to do in an online community.
39  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beginner needs your advices in gambling. on: November 08, 2023, 11:40:33 PM
I usually suggest as beginner starting with sport bet is a bit safer because it helps you gain control of your habit and even your emotions because there's usually a time interval that you will have to wait before getting your results but if it happens on slots and others it's instant.

Sports betting is safer if the person has the knowledge about the league, the team and the skills of each player.  If the person does not have any idea about the sports, then it is no way safer than betting on slots game.

We all know that winning in sportsbetting is affected by the skill and knowledge of the person betting, saying that sport betting is safer is arguable, since there are many people who got addicted to sports betting and we have some stories of that in this forum like the girl who cried after losing his money, the guy who gamble the fund for his upcoming marriage and so on.

I presume you have some knowledge about sport and that is all to may need to be able to be in the game as a sport gambler then the time period you need to wait for these game to elaps before you see results will help your patience and also keeping you mind in check and it will be much easier to let go by the time the results are out as compare to that which the results are instant, you may want to try again after seeing that you lost on the game , this may lead to chasing of losses and gradual movement towards addiction.

Having some knowledge on sports is will only lead the person to lose.  In sports betting knowledge is very important, the more of the knowledge the better.  With some knowledge the person assessment the result of the match would be poor.
40  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price $45k by ending of 2023: AI prediction on: November 08, 2023, 11:22:05 PM
More likely AI is basing their prediction on the upcoming decision about ETF and is siding that the result would be positive.  It is indeed a conservative prediction given by AI since if the hype continues and the market starting to FOMO, $45k is a little price to think of given that Bitcoin rallied and increased by $10k in price with just a fake news and a ticker.  I think the market will react more positively if the sign of ETF approval gets more obvious.
