Oh well, if you have extra fiat or your local currency then go for a "buy" or just buy it(especially bitcoin) from your "known to you" friends(just don't get scammed  .)or from any exchangers around the internet(please find one- a trusted sites)or use escrow for every transaction. Buy  any coins at the lowest price possible and keep it in a safe wallet.

For newbies do please study and learn about bitcoin(or any coins) as many as you can.(Don't do trade if you don't know anything about it.) yes, faucet, faucet, faucet is the easiest but sometime it has a faulty captcha to answer...

Likely it wont succeed in some cases even bitcoin is 100% familiar by the owner. If Im an owner I will pay my employees with a fixed fiat because bitcoin price is volatile. I don't want to risk to throw away big money when the btc price kicks by paying bitcoin.

Actually with our ability to pay confidently to anyone including employees or to the merchants, or for our self, its the other matter generally. Bitcoiners must have positive thinking about bitcoin to receive it or to give it away like the other fiat daily uses. Nevertheless still I will preferred to pay my employees with a fixed fiat if Im the employer. Like you said it all depends in me. Anyways Im talking here in real jobs. Physical work and no online involved.
