Hi!  Smiley
How BTC bitcoin developed in your country? Are there many people in your real life that you know that use BTC ?

At my country, only a small portion of population that know bitcoin as internet currency. Just like my case, I ask all my school classmate, no one ever know bitcoin even my teacher. May bitcoin only get known on fully develop country rather than growing one

Even in developed countries people are not aware about the bitcoins so it will definitely take time in developing countries. And knowing it and using it is totally different things. And we want that people should start using bitcoins rather then just knowing it.

Yes and it can be only profitable when it gets into a mainstream and that is only possible when there is a mass adoption at the all levels and even big corporations starts accepting bitcoins as a mode of payment then only the prices would be stable.

I am from the Netherlands. I guess most people here have at least heard about Bitcoin, including old people like my grandmother. Might have to do with the tech savvy population and one of the highest Internet adoptions around the world (almost 100%). Even my 87 year old grandmother has a tablet with Internet. In addition the level of English is high, which helps as most information about Bitcoin is in English.

Nevertheless I am not satisfied at the speed it is being adopted. I notice it is especially difficult to convince the older generations like my parents as the fiat system has always played out rather beneficial for them.

Among young people almost everyone knows what is Bitcoin and most of my friends also own a bit of Bitcoin. This also has to do with the fact that when I owe them some money (e.g. from taking drinks or a bbq) I always transfer this in Bitcoin. That is my rule. Some of my closer friends also deeply invested in Bitcoin however unfortunately some of them lost big sums of money with the Mt God fiasco.

In term of merchant adoption we are doing great. We have some big webshops accepting Bitcoin and several Dutch cities are growing quickly in terms of merchant adoption such as Arnhem or Amsterdam. Together with a few friends we are now working on increasing the merchant adoption in Rotterdam.

The community here is also strong, with some cool start ups like Blocktrail and a nice mix of Dutch and international people. So in the end it is not so bad, compared to other countries, but we could still do so much better. There is enormous space left for improvement and more adoption Smiley

Nice bitcoin development in your country and I see in the future that it will developed much more like bitcoin development here in my country Philippines. Hope my country can reached the status of your bitcoin development and Im positive it will happen. There are many merchants and services here too that we can use with our bitcoin.

I don't have data about the knowledge of bitcoin in my country but I think that it is known very little. I don't know people who own bitcoins and when I talk with various people about bitcoin they don't know it. Even there were (rarely) news about bitcoin at the principal televisions. I haven't read any newspaper which treat problems or story about bitcoin.

Developing countries can actually leap-frog existing technologies and move to Bitcoin.
That is actually an advantage for them.

Yeah I agree and I think it's developing countries that will have the opportunity for large-scale adoption.  It'll be much tougher in developed countries due to the amount of regulation that exists in any financial matter.

I am a Canadian. Canada is the second largest BTC user base in the world. Also our Government is progressively easing regulation, opening the doors to development. Canadians like innovation and development in emerging industries. The government knows this and works with that. BTC is looking good in Canada.

I believe USA is the first. Bitcoin gets mentioned in their news very often, raising people's awareness of bitcoin.

I don't think Canada is the second, tho. that award should go to the Chinese.

It would be nice if someone states something about his/her country, to the name the country, too, in order to get an imagination what's going on about Bitcoin and crypto currencies in the particular countries Wink

Yeah no one wants to disclose their identity here and I think that's much better. So it is better not to disclose the name of the country where you belong to and yes talking about my country people have started to know about the bitcoins but still it will take a long time for the adoption.

Yeah its great, there are 3 bitcoin ATMs in Indonesia, 2 in Bali and 1 in Jakarta http://coinatmradar.com/country/100/bitcoin-atm-indonesia/
I hope with that ATM, will attract other people in Indonesia to get information about bitcoin and be interested to try using it.

i just hope the government support legalizing bitcoin

what country do you live?, because in some bitcoin is already vastly legalized, in a few countries is banned, like india thailand/taiwan ecc...

It is NOT, and never was, banned in Thailand.
All that happened was a risk-averse exchange here that closed up after a negative comment from a functionary in a government bank.
