How about a different take on this question? He asks "is gambling a fix to your life or will it wreck your life", what if he is a casino owner? He takes a gamble by placing a bunch of his coins as the casino bankroll, but the chances of him making back that amount with a profit margin of at least 1% (with dice sites, anyway and in the long run) is very high, in fact the chances of him making much more is a reality. So in this situation, gambling can be a fix for his life? Even as an investor, i gamble my coins, because some lucky guy may just come and take the whole BR which will cause me to go bankrupt! As an investor, i let math work for me though, so it is a "safer" form of gambling (if there is something as such!). Smiley

Just wanted to look at the question from a different perspective and this is what i came up with!  Grin

Well it did not fixed nor wrecked my life. I only bet what I'm afford to lose so there is no problem. But yes it would be nice if this hobby would start paying verry well over time lol, but I don't think it will happen xD
But it wont have de capacity to wreck anything since I don't risk what I don't have!

As most people here correctly point out, gambling can be a fun pastime if done in moderation. This is a form of entertainment that is equivalent to many others such as, a night at the movies, golf outing, day at the amusement park, and so on.

The trick is to treat it the same as the other forms of entertainment in which you have a set budget beforehand and stick with it. For example, say you are going to take your sweetheart to the fair this weekend, you would have a general idea of what you plan to spend. Say a show/concert maybe $80, some rides, food, etc another $40, maybe try your hand at a few games for another $40, and a few bucks for misc. items. Let's say you plan to roughly spend $200. Sure you might see or come across something to go over that, say you bought a couple t-shirts, but for the most part you will stick pretty close to the original amount you budgeted.

If this same strategy is used when gambling, you budget to gamble up to $200, once you hit that limit you are done. So once you lose $200, call it a night and come back later once you have had a chance to disengage yourself for awhile. A good strategy I have found is that this can work both ways. Say I go into a casino with the same $200, if I am up $200 (doubled my money) at any point, meaning I have $400, my original $200 plus winnings, I also call it a night. This way I have found over the longer term I can pocket some money on good nights rather than stick around until it is also lost.

Gambling can never fix your life. Instead it will wreak and leave you devastate. Someday you might win big but in the long run you will end up broke and lose all your money.

yes the majority of people who gamble never come out ahead, there's very few gambling professionals in the crypto scene i think bipolarbob is one of them ^.^ but nobody knows how much he has spent to win the 3k+ btc from satoshidice....... i've managed to lose a decent amount in my gambling career im no professional but i don't mind losing once in awhile i guess when it's for the thrill of gambling it's all in good fun, some people get way to carried away with it though

It is quite clear from the post above that the guy gambled away his family home. I assume this means it was a home purchased by his family for him or it was ancestral property. I have noticed that people who don't have to go through shit in their lives to put food on the table every month generally are the biggest gamblers! How would they know the value of stuff if they did not have to work a day in their life to get something like a home? All the blood, sweat and tears were put in by someone else and they got the home on a silver platter. This means that people born with a silver or golden spoon in their mouths are typically the biggest gamblers.
my 2 cents on this: i think its mostly because when they start out, they enter with the mindset of: "i can spare a bit more, money isnt exactly  the first issue on my mind right now." entering gambling devoid of caution or restraint, restraint becomes harder to find as the dig themselves deeper in the red, and eventually end up losing everything they ever had.

theres nothing here. message me if you want to put something here.

Yeah, that's a good observation. This is also the reason why some of them hit it big imo, because they are not afraid to lose. I know i would shit my pants just trying to bet above 0.2 btc at a time, the max i ever bet was 0.15 btc on a single roll which came off me me, luckily. I never dared try that again! The investment game is the best form of gambling for me now! Slow and steady, but the profits come.. with full-on gambling there is a chance i could lose all i have so i rather take my chances with investing and let the math work for me over the long term!  Grin

Many years ago when bitcoins weren't as valuable as today, I played on satoshidice. I lost bitcoin that would've been worth $20,000 today.

I didn't care back then because it wasn't much but of course it pains me today. Tongue

Well you can't blame yourself. Just like today, I played those Yobit free alt coins that has so much low value in their dice game without thinking one of them 'can' be a promising coin in the future. Today they are dust but who knows in the future. Smiley

Yeah, even though it sucks big time, you can't dwell on what could have been! I was in the same mode as you sometime ago. I always used to think i made a mistake by selling btc lower than the current market price, only for bitcoin to crash further and vindicate my decision of selling low!  Grin

I realized that you can't cry over spilled milk as that will only make you more bitter as a person. So when clams did a number on me, similar to what happened to you, i could swallow it quite easily and move on! Still at -37 clams at JD but up 125 clams on my investment so overall its a win!  Smiley

Gambling is meant to be fun and give you a small chance of getting big money, like a lottery ticket. It is meant to be fun, not to make your rich and fix your life, or be something that can wreck your life.
but the thought of people is different, many consider that gambling is a quick way to get rich

But I am happy with my 2000 USD monthly salary, what a shame. Cry  I was not satisfied with 30000 USD last year, but now satisfied with 2000 USD monthly salary.
