I gamble not to earn a living or to earn big money - I just playing to having fun, period. Now, if I will win some, that is a bonus already. I always see to it thought that I only use my extra money that I can afford to lose. I can say gambling in gambling operator's term have fixed their lives since they have an edge over players.  Win or lose in a round operator have profit from it.  While on the other side, gambling players often experience that gambling wreck their lives.  Most of the gambler tend to bet more than what they can lose.
