Coinbase CEO believes bitcoin will replace dollar within 15 years.

Read the following news:
http://cointelegraph.com/news/114983/coinbase-ceo-bitcoin-will-replace-dollar-within-15-years

Do you think it will be true? Are you positive towards bitcoin's future status?
And coinbase thought XT would work. Uh oh, RETARD ALERT! I don't think bitcoin will ever take over the dollar. Maybe it will become a side currency, but never the primary credit. It's far too volatile and had way too many flaws. Currently, our technology isn't advanced enough to handle a worldwide adoption of bitcoin.
Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

I think Bitcoin will not replace the centralized currency. There is no sense in this. He has his place in the system of currencies and payment systems. This will be a good alternative.
Hard to know what will become next in the future. There are many predictions about how we will live and how everything will go on. Bitcoin, however, I can say that there is no chance that it can become a type of currency or even replace the dollar. It has a high fee and it can not proceed a huge number of transaction in a short time. On the other hand, visa can make millions of transaction every day without any difficulty

Bitcoin will never replace dollar. Government of United States will protect their currency whatever it takes, i'm sure about it. Better to become better than dollar to make people use bitcoin.

But, still we have positive attitude towards cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrencies in certain countries might be a way to evade American sanctions and raise cash. What is more, crypto is more and more seen as a substitute for the value-leaking currencies.

Nothing will change something. Bitcoin is the crypto and the dollar is fiat money.

There is a change between them, The era is getting more sophisticated, but bitcoin cannot be made in the main money in a country because the system is different. Bitcoin only as an alternative money if we do not have cash money. Like a credit card or PayPal.

It is an courageous prediction and maybe know what he tell. But I don't think so. A very long story of us dollar cannot end so easy. Bitcoin is an wonderful tool and has a very precious quality. It is not manipulable. As such it would be a very welcomed currency in replacing every kind of money

Bitcoin will never be so strong to accomplish such task! The best he can do is to become leading service in payments through internet.
Maybe he will not stay alone in this game there will be many others good coins to...

It could be a reality, why not? But there is just one problem I think will be blocking this idea. What will happen to areas without internet? How will a person buy the things using it? If within 15 years the availability of internet will be realized then it then there could be no problem about the idea. Just one other thing to note. This will surely increase the number of coin hackers which will probably block the progress of fully replacing dollar.

It is possible that all countries legalize and use bitcoin as the national currency. Thus bitcoin can also be used as an international currency. If bitcoin offers something more practical then the dollar will be replaced by bitcoin

That day will never come, its impossible for bitcoin to replace dollar ever in future, dollar is the most popular currency worldwide used and accepted everywhere. It will hold its power in future too.

Presently, Bitcoin value after it's Algo is converted to Dollars which is mostly or widely used globally. From a critic angle, Bitcoin could serve a wide range of payments medium for goods and services just as Dollars does, even more truly since it is being adopted all over the world. The issue of Bitcoin now replacing the Dollars which is one of the major ways among the Fiat currencies of calculating Bitcoin itself after confirmation and conversion could be somehow or to largely extent doubtful. The Coin Base CEO and Evander Smart that made this prediction and submission that Bitcoin shall replace Dollars in about 15 years to this time are also not 100% certain if you carefully read the article from head to toe.

I don't think "soon" but I do think after 15 years or so it is a definite possibility. "soon" i guess is a relative term.

I don't think  bitcoin will replace dollars that soon. Because as of now bitcoin still fighting It's legalization and not all country recognized bitcoin . But maybe your right it's takes 15 years or more to make things happen. But Hopefully even bitcoin will not be the world currency atleast it will last life time for our benefits. We benefited bitcoin even its not yet legal in our countries. The possible thing is that we earn, and bitcoin help each of  as and our family  needs.

I don't think Bitcoin will ever replace the dollar because of the simple fact that if bitcoin do replaces dollar then the purpose of bitcoin is already lost-- low fees, mining etc
And most important the government of various countries won't allow to lost control of their fiat and most people just want the printed money so they can keep them offline and most people don't know much about bitcoin so i find it will be a hard time before bitcoin rule over dollar any time soon.

I don't that Bitcoin will never replace fiat. You are asking the wrong question, you should be asking if Bitcoin will ever replace the dollar. Bitcoin is still in its early stages whereas fiat has been around for a very very long time. I don't ever think that Bitcoin will ever replace fiat. Somethings you will always need to use fiat to pay for. I think there will always be these 2 currencies in the world.

The government would really not allow that to happen,if bitcoin replace dollar the government cant fine a tax since bitcoin is decentralized and if they cant implement tax on bitcoin the government will blocked it. Smiley

Bitcoins will not replace the dollar, I am sure. It's too artificially stable and high in demand at this current time. Sad

Existing fiat currencies are controlled and manipulated by Governments and Banks. Do you think these people are going to just let Bitcoin exist without their involvement or blessing? Huh Huh Huh

I think the answer is No! Undecided
But no one can say for sure whether bitcoin will have staying power and significance to be considered the world's reserve currency ever let alone 15 years.
